Chapter 12: Doctor Neha
Heyy before the chapter starts, let's introduce a new and a very important character in the book, Dr Neha Jaiswal
, played by Aminante_neha ❤️
Aminante_neha, hope you like your character!
The next day, Hira found herself sitting in front of her psychologist and therapist, Ms. Neha Jaiswal.
The clinic was a haven of tranquility amidst the chaos of her life, with soft lighting, calming colors, and comfortable furniture that invited relaxation.
Dr. Neha, a lady in her late twenties is with a warm smile and kind eyes, embodied the comforting vibe of her clinic.
As Hira settled into the plush armchair, she took a deep breath, feeling some of the tension from the previous day's events begin to melt away.
Dr. Neha sat across from her, a notebook and pen in hand, ready to listen.
"Welcome, Hira," Dr. Neha said softly. "How are you feeling today?"
Hira sighed, her fingers nervously playing with the hem of her dress. "I'm... overwhelmed," she admitted.
"Yesterday was... a lot. The reporters, the questions, the invasion of my privacy. It was all too much."
Dr. Neha nodded understandingly. "It sounds like you had a very challenging day. Why don't you start from the beginning? Tell me everything that happened."
Hira recounted the events at the airport, the relentless questions, and the moment she snapped when a reporter insulted her parents.
As she spoke, she felt a mixture of anger and relief. Anger at the invasion of her privacy and relief at finally having a safe space to express her feelings.
"I couldn't believe they brought my parents into it," Hira said, her voice trembling with emotion. "It was like they were attacking not just me, but my entire family."
The psychologist leaned forward slightly, her expression empathetic. "It's completely understandable that you felt that way. When our loved ones are dragged into difficult situations, our emotions can be tested."
Hira nodded, appreciating the validation. "I just... I don't know how to handle all of this. The pressure, the attention, and now the guilt and regret over what happened with Shubman."
"Let's take it one step at a time," Dr. Neha suggested. "First, let's address how you're feeling about the media attention. It can be incredibly stressful. Have you considered setting boundaries or finding ways to manage their presence?"
Hira thought for a moment. "I guess I could talk to Shubman about it. Maybe we can figure out a plan together. But I also need to work on not letting their words get to me so much."
"That's a good starting point," The doctor agreed. "Now, about Shubman. You mentioned his name. Can you tell me more about him?"
Hira took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the conversation shift as she prepared to share another difficult aspect of her recent experiences.
"There's something else," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Something that happened with Shubman."
Dr. Neha's gaze remained gentle and encouraging. "Go on, Hira. This is a safe space."
Hira swallowed hard, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her dress. "We... we hooked up," she admitted, her cheeks flushing with a mixture of embarrassment and anxiety.
"It was after a party, and we were both drunk. I know it sounds bad, but it was consensual. I enjoyed it at the moment, but afterward, it brought back some really bad memories."
Dr. Neha immediately leaned forward, her expression serious but compassionate. "Thank you for sharing that, Hira. I need to ask you an important question. Was the encounter with Shubman forced in any way?"
Hira shook her head immediately. "No, it wasn't forced. Shubman was... he was gentle and considerate. It was nothing like what happened with my ex. But still, the next morning, I felt this overwhelming regret and fear. It was like I was right back in that dark place."
Dr. Neha nodded, her eyes filled with understanding. "It's not uncommon for past traumas to resurface in new, even consensual, experiences. Your mind and body remember those past hurts, and they can be triggered by certain situations."
Hira's eyes welled up with tears. "I just don't know how to move past it. I feel like I've ruined everything with Shubman. And I don't want to keep living in the shadow of my past."
"You're taking a crucial step by talking about it," Dr. Neha reassured her. "Healing from trauma is a process, and it often involves revisiting painful memories in a safe and supportive environment. It's also important to communicate with Shubman about your feelings and your past, if and when you feel ready."
Hira nodded, wiping away a tear. "I just feel so overwhelmed. One moment I'm enjoying life, and the next, I'm trapped in my own fears."
"That's completely understandable," Dr. Neha said softly. "Let's work on strategies to help you cope with these feelings. Grounding techniques, mindfulness, and self-compassion exercises can be very helpful. And remember, you're not alone in this. You have people who care about you and want to support you."
Hira took a deep breath, feeling a small sense of relief. "Thank you,Neha. I think... I think I'm ready to start working on this. To start healing."
"That's a brave decision, Hira," Dr said, smiling warmly. "And it's the first step towards reclaiming your peace and happiness."
Shubman sat on the balcony of his home, the city lights of Mumbai twinkling in the distance.
The night air was cool, but he barely noticed as his mind replayed the events of the past few weeks. His thoughts kept drifting back to Hira and the night they had spent together.
He sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair. He couldn't shake off the feeling of confusion and hurt.
He had tried reaching out to her, but she had been distant, almost avoiding him. The memory of her words stung: "I regret our night together."
It wasn't just the rejection that bothered him. It was the way she had said it, the pain in her eyes. He knew there was more to it, something she wasn't telling him.
The media had been relentless, speculating about their relationship and even dragging up rumors about his past with Sara.
But that didn't matter to him. What mattered was Hira and understanding why she was pushing him away.
The next morning, Shubman found himself at the practice ground, his teammates' laughter and chatter blending into the background noise.
He tried to focus on his training, but his mind kept wandering back to Hira. He couldn't help but scroll through her Instagram account again, hoping to find some clue, some indication of what was going on in her mind.
As he sat on the bench, lost in thought, Ishan, noticed his distraction and approached him. "Hey, Shub, you alright? You've been off lately."
Shubman forced a smile. "Yeah, just a lot on my mind."
Shreyas raised an eyebrow. "Anything to do with a certain pilot?" Shubman chuckled, though it felt hollow. "You could say that."
"Look, man, if you need to talk, We're here," Hardik offered. "We've all seen the media drama and we know it's not easy."
Shubman nodded appreciatively. "Thanks, Guys. It's just... complicated."
As he was gathering his things to leave the practice ground, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out to see his dad's name flashing on the screen. He quickly answered.
"Hi, Papa," he greeted, a slight worry creeping into his voice. "What's up?"
"Beta," his father's voice sounded serious. "I need you to come to Mohali. There's something important we need to discuss."
Shubman frowned, concerned. "What is it, Papa? Is everything alright?"
"It's nothing to worry about," his father assured him. "But it's something we need to talk about in person. Just come down as soon as you can."
Shubman hesitated for a moment, sensing the urgency in his father's voice. "Alright, I'll be there. I'll book a ticket right away."
"Thank you, beta," his father said, a hint of relief in his tone. "We'll see you soon."
As he ended the call, he felt a mix of apprehension and curiosity. He quickly dialed his manager's number.
"Hey, Shubman, what's up?" Sebastian answered.
"Seb, I need you to book a ticket to Mohali for me," Shubman said, his tone brisk. "I need to leave as soon as possible."
"Got it. I'll arrange it right away," Sebastian replied. "Anything else you need?"
"No, that's all. Thanks," Shubman said before hanging up.
He gathered his things and headed out, his mind now divided between his worries about Hira and the unknown issue awaiting him in Mohali.
As he drove back to his home to pack, he couldn't help but wonder what was so urgent that his father couldn't discuss it over the phone.
