•Chapter 6: Saving Killian•

"Found more arrows," Regina announces as we begin to clean up the loft.

"You do not want to see what that hellhound did upstairs," Robin tells us as he comes downstairs with a disgusted look on his face, causing Sam, Katherine, and I stifle our laughs before Robin shoots us a playful glare.

"So," Emma says, drawing everyone's attention to her, "we think we're ready?"

Before anyone can answer, Rumpelstiltskin barges into the room.

"What are you doing?" he questions.

"We're gonna get Hook," David explains, "what's it look like?"

"We know Hades will have him in some sort of isolation," Emma continues, "Meg told us an entrance nearby."

"So, all forty-five of you are gonna slip down into the deepest level of detention in the Underworld?" Rumpelstiltskin asks, rhetorically, "Hades knows you're here. He'll have put up barriers to keep the living out of all the places he doesn't want us going. You walk into his domain, you'll all be puffs of dust."

"So we get a new plan."

"Correct," Rumpelstiltskin turns to the adults and Henry, "five of you occupy yourselves as you will. Perhaps cleaning?" he then turns back to Emma, "you and I will go in with the assistance of a helpful dead person," he then turns to my group and stares at Vincent, Harry, and Fletcher.

"There's no way I'm going down there," Vincent states as Harry and Fletcher agree, causing Rumpelstiltskin to sighs before he looks back to Emma.

"Looks like we're going to have to find another helpful dead person."

As they begin to leave, I get up off of the couch and stand in their way.

"I'm going," I tell them.

"No, you're not," Rumpelstiltskin hisses.

"Yes, I am," I say before I look to Emma, "I need to help him, Emma. Killian has done so much for me. I need to return the favor."

A small smile makes its way onto Emma's face as she nods before I look to everyone and give them a reassuring smile then we watch Rumpelstiltskin walk out of the loft to find a "helpful dead person."

***

After getting the okay from Rumpelstiltskin, Emma and I exit the loft and walk Main Street. Once we get to the library, we see him standing with someone I never thought I'd see again. I stop in my tracks and see Emma look to me in confusion.

"Milah?" I question in disbelief, causing her to look up and stare at me with wide eyes.

"Everly?"

As soon my brain comprehends that she's in front of me, I run over towards her and we hug as if we'd never let go before few tears escape me.

"I thought I'd never see you again," I say.

"Me too, Everly," she whispers before we end our hug then she looks at Emma a bit confused.

"This is Milah, my ex-wife," Rumpelstiltskin introduces, "and Hook's ex also. She's also Baelfire's mother, of course. Emma knew him as Neal. They had a torrid affair which resulted in a scandalous teenage pregnancy. In prison."

"Yeah, well-"

"So," Milah interrupts Emma, "you've been with my former lover...and my son? Is that right?"

"Uh, yeah," I answer, "it's more complicated than it seems though."

"Huh," Emma sighs.

"I'm sure we're gonna laugh ourselves sick about all of this one day," Rumpelstiltskin tells us, "I suggest you follow me before it gets even more awkward."

Milah glares at Emma one last time before we follow Rumpelstiltskin down the street until we get to Emma's house, or what looks like Emma's house.

"The way in is here?" Emma questions, "so, what, the gates of hell are in my house?"

"As was the stone of Excalibur," Rumpelstiltskin retaliates, "the pirate has a knack for targeting real estate with hidden value."

I let out a grunt then follow the three up the steps and inside the house to find spider webs cover everything. When I feel something crawling on my leg, I freeze before taking a deep breath then I look down to see a spider. At the sight of the creepy creature, I scream and jump around a bit before jumping onto Emma's back.

"I don't want it on me!" she shouts as she forces me off of her back, causing me to fall to the floor before I watch the spider crawl up the wall and into a crack.

"You really haven't changed," Milah laughs as she helps me up.

"Why would I like spiders?" I question, "they're creepy, crawly, and gross."

When I hear an irritated sigh, I turn to see Rumpelstiltskin with an annoyed look on his face staring right at me.

"Let's get a move on," he hisses, "the sooner we get Hook, the sooner we can leave."

"Basement door?" Emma asks.

"Basement door."

We cautiously walk to the basement door and Emma opens it to reveal a long and dark staircase. When she sticks her hand, a barrier is revealed before she turns back to us with an annoyed look on her face.

"So," I say, "what should we do?"

"Join hands," Rumpelstiltskin answers as he holds his hand out to me.

However, before I can take it, Milah grabs me and places me in between her and Emma as she shoots Rumpelstiltskin a glare. Emma and I exchange a confused look as I take her hand and Milah's before we slowly approach the door. Milah easily gets through the barrier. As I get to it, I brace myself for impact but find myself making it through without a problem. When we got to a stone hallway, the silence was broken.

"It worked," Emma states.

"Indeed," the Dark Ones responds, "one step closer to Hell."

As we continue down the dark, quiet hall, we eventually release hands.

"The spell's gone," I realize.

"We'll be able to pass through on our own now," Rumpelstiltskin tells us, "thank you, Milah. You can run back to protecting the dead children."

"Hang on," Emma says, "Milah, thank you so much. And there's something you should know."

"Did you adopt her, too?" Milah asks as she gestures to me, causing Emma and I to share a disgusted look before we turn back to Milah.

"We're actually sisters," I tell her.

"Your son, Neal, Baelfire," Emma continues, "when I was on my way down here on the River, I had sort of a vision of him," she pauses for a moment as I give her a curious look, "I think he talked to me."

My eyes widen as Rumpelstiltskin becomes more interested in the conversation.

"What did he say?" Milah asks with tears in her eyes.

"He said that he moved on," Emma answers, "and that he was happy. Whatever he had to resolve, he did it."

"Thank you. Thank you so much."

As Emma continues to speak, I look to the ground and tune out the rest of the conversation as I begin to wonder why Bae didn't try to contact me.

"I hear water this way," Emma announces.

"That would be the River of Lost Souls," Milah explains.

"The River of what now?" I question as I look to her.

"The River of Lost Souls," she repeats, "if you touch it, you'd be sucked into the River. Wandering aimlessly forever."

"Then let's go this way," I gesture in the opposite direction and begin to walk.

"No. We can take it to where Hades will have Killian."

At Milah's statement, I let out a sigh before nodding then I take my place next to Emma once again.

"I'm sorry," Rumpelstiltskin finally speaks, "uh, 'we' can take it? If you think you can get the pirate back, I doubt he's gonna swap the blonde for the dead woman."

"You might be dark but sometimes you're still an idiot, Rumple," she hisses then looks back to Emma, "I have my reasons. Let me come with you."

"Okay," Emma whispers.

We all give a small smile then look back to Rumpelstiltskin and begin to continue down the hall. When we finally get to a greenish river and find a boat tied to a pole, we all climb in and begin to sail down the river in silence. After a few moments, we come to the end before we, excluding Rumpelstiltskin, all climb out and look around in shock.

"This is it," Emma says, "he's down there. I feel it."

"I'm not leaving the boat," Rumpelstiltskin declares as we look to him with skeptical looks, "it's too valuable. You're capable of getting the pirate on your own, I'm sure. And don't even think about using magic. Hades would notice anything this close to his home base."

"If he's not moving, I'm not either," Milah states, "if he tries to steal this thing, I'll give a shout."

Emma nods a thanks as I give her a grateful smile before we turn and sprint down the dark tunnel. When we get to the end of the tunnel, we see a lake and a metal platform with Killian dangling over it.

"Killian!" Emma screams as he is lowered closer to the water.

"We have to get to him!" I panic as I look around the cave.

My eyes land on a metal beam and I usher Emma towards it. After we get closer and see the River right below it, we look back to Killian to see him lower a bit more. Then Emma looks down at the beam once again and begins to slowly walk across it and I follow.

"Hang on!" Emma tells him, "we're coming for you!"

We both begin to get the hang of it and begin to walk a bit faster. When we're halfway across, Emma stumbles but catches herself quickly as Killian gets lowered more.

"Hurry," I tell my sister.

We pick up our pace and reach Killian just before he hits the water. When we pull him up onto the platform, he lets out a groan in pain before Emma helps him further onto the platform and I take the chains off of him then throw them into the water. When I turn my attention back to Killian, I see Emma holding him in her arms.

"I told you to let me go," he whispers, "you shouldn't be here," he then looks to me, "neither of you should be here. Nobody should."

"I never listen," Emma responds.

"Must run in the family," I joke.

"You both are impossible," Killian groans.

"And you love me for that," she tells him as she pulls him in for a hug.

After I help Emma get Killian across the beam, we hear shouting from the other end of the tunnel before we all exchange a look then rush as fast as we can to the exit. When we see light and exit the dark tunnel, we see Rumpelstiltskin, alone, gripping his wrist in pain.

"Hades!" he calls out before he then turns to us with a saddened look, "I tried to stop him. He blew my magic right back at me. Milah...I couldn't stop it," he then looks to the river, "she's gone."

"Milah was here?" Killian questions as he looks to me, "Milah?"

"She helped us get to you," I whisper as anger begins to boil inside of me as I look at the Dark One, "but because of him, she's gone! Again!"

"I tried to stop him," he defends himself.

"Clearly not well enough!" I scream as I take a few steps towards him, only for Killian cuts me off.

"It was Hades not him," Killian tells me.

"But he-"

"I know. Hades has much to answer for."

Before I can get another word out of my mouth, Killian pulls me in for a hug. At first, I'm a little grossed out due to the blood but then forget about it and hug him back as I look over his shoulder and glare at the Dark One.

***

"Killian!" Snow exclaims, "oh, look at you."

"I'll be alright," Killian tells her.

"How did you do it?" David asks.

"Gold got us in. He got us help," Emma exclaims as I look to the floor, "he poofed us back here. He even had a boat to get us all back home. But it's gone."

"Yeah," I grunt, "like Milah."

After letting my words hit the air, I turn away from everyone then walk out the front door and onto the streets of fake Storybrooke. I didn't know where I was going but I didn't feel like staying there with all of their hope and joy right now. I end up at the park after walking for about a half hour before I sit down at one of the benches and just take a moment to calm myself.

When my nerves finally begin to calm, my eyes widen when I hear it again. The same thing I heard before I passed out after battling the hellhound. Felix's voice.

"Don't give up, Sunshine. I need you. I don't know where I am. All I see are trees. You need to hurry," then a twig snaps, "he's coming. Hurry, Sunshine!"
