•Chapter 3: Field of Stones•

After the boys agree to take us to the cemetery, we follow them through the streets of fake Storybrooke until we get to the entrance of the cemetery. As soon as we get to the iron gate, we meet up with the rest of the group from Storybrooke before we introduce them to the former Lost Boys and head into the cemetery. Once we see all the headstones that fill the field in front of us, we all just stare at them, speechless.

"All right," Emma finally says, breaking the silence, "let's do this."

As soon as the words leave her mouth, we're all snapped out of our trance and begin our journey through the field of stones to quickly find Killian's, standing tall with no cracks within it. Once we find it, we all stand in front of it for a moment as we try to gather our feelings.

"You okay?" Mary Margaret asks Emma.

"I just hope he is," Emma responds.

I continue to stare at his stone as Emma takes a deep breath before she pours the water in the glass in front of the stone. As soon as the water hits the ground before, the spirit of Killian appears before us before I let out a gasp as I try to hold back the tears while Regina and Robin block Henry's view. The image of Killian before had blood covering his face and his left eyes are swollen shut while his clothes are torn and covered in blood and he looks as if he's in a daze. He looks like he's been beaten.

"Killian," Emma whispers as Sam places his hand on my shoulder, "we're here to help you. We just can't find you. Where are you?"

As Emma's words leave her mouth, the spirit of Killian fades in and out as we all continue to watch it in silence. Once the initial shock leaves our bodies, I see the former Lost Boys break away from all of us to stand a few yards away as he continues to take in the scene in front of him.

"Emma," Regina says, "the spell's not steady. He can't hear you."

"Just tell us where you are," Emma tells Killian, ignoring Regina, as the spirit of Killian begins to slowly fade away.

"Something's happening," Robin states.

"It's not holding," Regina explains.

"Talk to us," I say under my breath before he completely disappears.

"He doesn't know we came for him. We...he doesn't know that we're here," Emma panics, "he doesn't know that I care."

As Mary Margaret begins to comfort her, I start to walk away, only to feel someone grab my wrist. I hesitate for a moment before turning around to face Robin.

"Where are you going?" he asks.

"I need just need a minute to process everything," I answer, "and I need to find someone else's stone."

"Felix?"

I slowly nod before he let's go of my wrist and gives me a small smile.

"Just be careful, Everly," he tells me, "Roland will kill me if something happens to you."

After giving him a smile and a nod, I begin to make my way towards Fletcher when Emma stops me.

"I want you to take half of what's left," she tells me before she hands me a water bottle filled with some of the potion she used to communicate with Killian.

After staring at the bottle for a moment, I send her a grateful nod to turn to continue my journey to Fletcher.

"I'm going to find Felix's headstone," I tell him, "want to come?"

"Yes," he responds with determination.

As soon as the word leaves his mouth, he begins to lead me through the field of stones as if he knew exactly where he was going. After walking through the cemetery in silence, we come to a stop at a stone with his name carved into it and, right next to it, is an identical stone with Felix's name engraved on it.

"It's still standing," I whisper.

"He really is here," Fletcher states.

We both just stare at the stone in front of us in silence when my eyes stop at the feather that lies on top of it. As chills made their way through me, I slowly approach it and carefully pick it up off of the stone.

"What is that?" Fletcher asks.

"Felix's feather," I answer, "he would have it tied in his hair. Never knew why."

"I think I do."

At his words, I turn to him with curiosity in my eyes before he lets out a shaky sigh.

"Felix and I used to take care of injured birds when we were younger to take our minds off of our mother," he explains, "doves were our favorites."

"He wore it because of you," I whisper as panic begins to go through my body.

"I guess so."

"Fletcher, he never took it out. He never took this feather out. Something's wrong. He's in trouble."

"Well, his stone is still standing. Which means he's still here. He hasn't moved on. Pour the water, Everly."

A shaky breath leaves me before I pour the water onto the ground in front of Felix's stone. The two of us wait in silence for what felt like hours as we watch and wait for any sign of Felix, only for nothing to happen.

"Something really is wrong," Fletcher says, breaking the uncomfortable silence that surrounds us.

"We need to find him," I tell him, "as soon as possible."

After falling back into silence and staring back at the stone, we both share a look, trying to figure out where Felix can be, before we turn and make our way back to the group we left behind. When we get back to where we left everyone, we only find Sam, Katherine, Harry, and Vincent.

"Where did everyone go?" I ask when we reach the four.

"To find Killian," Sam answers, "we need to go."

His announcement causes us all to nod before we begin to head out of the cemetery. The exit to the field of stones comes in sight when Sam stops dead in his tracks and stares at two fallen stones with the names "Willis" and "Wilbur" carved into them.

"Who were they?" I ask.

"My brothers," he responds.

"Brothers?" Katherine questions, "I thought you said you were an only child."

"They weren't brothers by blood. We were in the same group of knights. Willis died young due to sickness and Wilbur was killed in our final battle with the Orges."

"I'm so sorry," Katherine says before she tries to comfort him.

"Me too," he whispers before we all stand in silence as we mourn those we have lost.

"I'm sorry to break this us, but we should get going," Vincent tells us, "the sooner we get out of here, the better."

After searching the town for every possible place Felix, Toby, and Harper can be and coming up short everyone we go, we meet back up with the group from Storybrooke by the collapsed clock tower.

"Find what you were searching for?" Robin asks me.

"Not yet," I answer, "but I know he's here and I'm not leaving this place until I find him."

Just as I finish my conversation with Robin, we hear people approaching and turn to see Regina and Henry walking towards us.

"Tell me your father is okay," Mary Margaret says to Regina.

"He's better than okay," Regina responds.

"He's in a better place now," Henry adds.

"Wait," Mary Margaret states, drawing everyone's attention back to her, "that means everyone here..."

"Can be saved," David adds.

"Thank you, Captain Obvious," Vincent whispers under his breath as Harry and Fletcher try to muffle their laughs.

"Every soul in this town has unfinished business," Regina tells us, "and chances are, for a lot of them, we're that business."

Sam, Katherine, and I exchanged looks with the three former Lost Boys before our attention is drawn to Rumpelstiltskin as he begins to speak.

"You've all deluded yourself if you think these people are worth your time," he says, "they're not the dearly departed. They are dead, wretched souls. And I want no part of it."

As Emma begins to have an inaudible conversation with Rumpelstiltskin, I turn to the three boys behind me who are hoping to move on.

"No matter what he says, we're going to help you get out of here," I tell them, "but first, I need your help."

As soon as my words fill the air, Fletcher and Harry smile and they nod their heads in agreement before we all look to Vincent, who has an emotionless look on his face.

"What do you need us to do?" he asks me.

"Help us find Felix and Killian," I explain, "while we're looking for them, we'll look for Harper and Toby. Chances are, they're all in the same place."

"Deal," the three of them say in unison.

As the three say that four-letter word, Rumpelstiltskin walks right by us and I look back to everyone to see concerned looks on their faces before Henry walks up to Emma.

"So," he says, "who's ready for 'Operation Firebird?'"

"Is that what we're calling it?" I ask with a smile.

"You referring to the mythological bird or the muscle car?" Emma questions as she wraps her arm around his shoulders and begins to walk down the street.

As soon as Henry and Emma begin to walk, David and Mary Margaret follow hand in hand as well as Robin and Regina. Sam and Katherine's hands find each other before they begin to follow with the three former Lost Boys walk beside them with semi-straight faces. Just as I'm about to follow them, I catch movement out of the corner of my eye. When I turn towards what caught my attention, I see a boy standing in the distance with a smirk on his face. Confusion is quickly replaced by fear when I recognize him.

Griff.
