•Chapter 14: Deals•

After getting a call from Regina, we all gather around the clock tower, listening to her story about her mother and sister.

"You told her what?" Emma questions.

"To give him a chance," Regina answers.

"And you thought that was a good idea because?" David asks.

"Because we're family," she tells him, "and I'm trying to trust Zelena. She thinks she can change Hades."

"I'm sorry, love," Killian says, "I missed the part where Zelena changed."

"You'd think the ex-pirate with a rum habit would cut my sister some slack," Regina hisses.

"Well, you'd think that the Evil Queen would be smarter than to send the Wicked Witch to romance the most devious man alive."

"Easy, guys," Emma tells them, "we aren't going to win the war against Hades if we use our ammo on each other."

"The Savior has a point."

At the sound of the new voice, we all turn our heads at unwelcome company approaching us. Hades. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Austin duck behind the clocktower, making me wonder if his father really doesn't know that he's been helping us.

"What are you doing here?" Killian questions as Emma pushes Henry behind her, causing me to try and hide my eye roll.

If she really wanted to keep him safe, she should have sent him back to Storybrooke with Snow.

"I didn't find you to hurt you," Hades tries to reassure us, "I came for..." he sighs and closes his eyes, "wow, this is hard," he then opens his eyes and gives us the most serious look I've ever seen, "help."

"What could you possibly want our help with?" David asks.

"Well, not really your help. More the sisters' help."

"What do you want?" I question.

"Simple," Hades responds, "I went to meet Zelena for our date," he then holds up a rolled-up piece of paper, "and found this."

I hesitate only for a moment before I carefully approach him and take the letter from him then go back to Sam, Katherine, and Felix. Once I get a safe distance away from the God of the Underworld, I unroll the note and read the first part of it then look to Regina.

"Zelena," I say, "she's been kidnapped by Rumpelstiltskin...and Pan."

"They're asking for a meeting tomorrow morning," Hades tells us.

"Rumpelstiltskin wants you to tear up the contract for his unborn child," I continue to read, "and Pan wants," I pause as I reread the last part then look to Felix, "us."

"Not happening," almost everyone says in unison.

"Tear up the contract, we'll figure out the other thing later," Regina tells him, "I just got my sister back. I'm not going to lose her now."

"Neither will I," Hades responds, "I'll give them what they want, but I know the Stiltskins and their tricks. They're not gonna keep their word. Not unless I have an ace up my sleeve."

"Luckily for you, you got one."

"I'm sorry. You've been Zelena's doting sister for all of what, three hours?"

"Who's going to be more motivated than me?"

"Emma and Everly."

"What?" Emma questions, "why?"

"If Zelena gets out of this alive," he begins to explain, "I'm prepared to offer you both a deal."

"Don't trust a word he says," Killian warns.

"Now I agree with the pirate," Regina sighs.

"You and I both know your family wouldn't be here if it weren't for you," Hades states, "if you help me save her, I'll take everyone's names off their headstones."

"So we can leave the Underworld," Emma finishes as I just stare at the man before us in utter shock.

"So, what do you say? Do you want to send your family home or...not?"

Before I can even think, he takes the letter out of my hands before he continues to stare at us.

"Hold on," Sam says, grabbing everyone's attention, "what are we going to do about Pan's demand?"

"You're not going," Killian announces, "we'll have to figure something else out."

"But it clearly states to bring them," Hades protests.

"They're not-"

"We'll go," I interrupt Killian then I look to Hades, "as long as I can trust you not to abandon us."

"How can I prove it?" he asks as I hear protests from everyone around me.

"Give Felix a dagger laced with the water from the River of Lost Souls."

"Why?"

"So if Pan makes a move to kill us, he has something to defend himself with."

***

The next morning, Felix and I meet with Hades in front of the diner, against everyone's wishes. He gives Felix what we demanded, a dagger laced with water from the River in a special holder so that Felix won't accidentally use it on himself.

"You know I'm not going to use this, right?" he asks.

"Just a precaution," I state, causing him to roll his eyes before he places the dagger in his boot then Hades ties his arms behind him before turning to me.

"I have to put this on you," Hades holds us a cuff, "it's a bit different than normal cuff though. Only the wearer can take it off."

After registering his words, I nod before he places the cuff on my wrist and ties my arms behind me. When we enter the diner, Hades closes all of the blinds before he speaks to no one.

"Show yourselves."

The next thing we knew, a cloud of red and green smoke appears and, when it's gone, Rumpelstiltskin and Pan appear along with a cuffed Zelena.

"Glad to see you followed instructions," Pan says.

"Zelena," Hades whispers as he stares at her with worry in his eyes.

"I tried to stop them but..." she holds up her wrist to show her cuff.

"I hate the stupid cuffs," I mumble, causing Felix to stifle a laugh.

"It's not your fault," Hades tells her then looks to Rumpelstiltskin and Pan, "it's theirs."

"Oh, is that so?" Rumpelstiltskin questions, "because we wouldn't be here if you'd ripped up the contract when I asked you to."

"You didn't have leverage," Hades states as the contract appears in his hand and he unrolls it.

"And now I do. So, you stand there and don't move, except to rip up the contract. Then you get the witch."

At the order from Rumpelstiltskin, Hades takes the contract in both hands and tears in half, causing Zelena to smile.

"There," Hades says.

"Send over the lovebirds," Pan demands.

This causes Hades to look at Felix and me before we both sigh and walk over to Pan and Rumpelstiltskin. A smirk appears on Pan's face then he turns back to Hades.

"Now give her back," Hades commands.

"Oh, you can have her back," Rumpelstiltskin tells him.

"But we didn't say anything about her heart, did we?" Pan adds, causing Felix and me to get confused looks on our faces before we exchange a glance with Hades then Pan continues, "you see, my body is ready to walk the earth again. Except for one thing. A living heart," he then turns to Zelena, "so, if you don't mind."

"My heart has got a protection spell on it," she tells him.

"Oh, but you see, that protection spell was created using dark magic, and Jones here, is purely light magic," Pan then looks to me, "care to make another deal, Jones?"

As soon as his words sink into my head, I give him a skeptical look, only for his smirk to grow.

"The deal," he chuckles, "break the protection spell and you and Felix can go free. And, to top it off, I'll tell you a way to bring your boyfriend back with us."

"How would you know a way?" I question.

"I want to get out of here so, I did some research and found a way to bring back one's true love from the dead without a heart split. So, you can keep your whole heart and he can walk the earth again with you."

At his words, my skeptical look turns expressionless as I look the demon in the eyes.

"Don't tell me you're actually considering it," Zelena hisses.

To my surprise, I am. But before anyone else could speak, Emma shoots a beam of magic at Pan, sending him to the ground.

"You're not in a position to make deals," she tells him.

"I was beginning to think you couldn't get in," Hades says.

"Locks don't bother me much. He ripped up the contract, like you wanted, so leave."

"Since when does the Savior answer to the King of Death?" Pan questions.

"Since when does the Purest Heart make deals with you?" Emma retaliates.

"You picked the wrong team to back, Miss Swan," Rumpelstiltskin tells her, "you won't get what you want from him."

"Really? Because you just did, which is making me wonder why you're still here."

Her words cause Pan to look back at Rumpelstiltskin before a smile appears on the Dark One's face.

"I suppose you have a point," he agrees then disappears in a cloud of red.

"Rumple," Pan says.

"Looks like your little boy only came for what he wanted," Zelena laughs.

"I don't think you're going to be that lucky," Emma tells him.

Pan stares at everyone for a moment before he turns his attention back to me.

"Our deal still stands," he whispers then disappears in a cloud of green.

As soon as Pan's gone, Emma approaches Felix and me as Hades goes to Zelena and cuts the ropes from behind us before she then pulls me aside and out of earshot from everyone else.

"I can't believe you were considering his deal," Emma scolds quietly as I take off the cuff.

"You would too if it were Killian," I retaliate.

"No, I wouldn't. I wouldn't risk someone else's life for my own happiness."

"Then I guess that's where we're different."

"Why would you even think about doing that?"

"I've been without Felix for two years. I will do anything to make sure he comes back with me. I'm not going to walk through that endless abyss alone again."

When she doesn't respond and continues to stare at me with a blank gaze, I roll my eyes at her before I walk over to Felix.

"We need to find Pan," I whisper.

"Sunshine," he says, "it's not worth it."

"Yes, it is."

By the tone of my voice, he knew that I couldn't be persuaded so we begin to make our way to the door.

"Where are you going?" Emma questions.

"For a walk," I lie.

Before we could take another step, a wave of magic hits us and we turn to look at Zelena and Hades.

"My heart," I barely hear Hades say, "it's beating."

When Felix and I use that as a distraction to exit the diner, we make it out onto the street as the ground begins to shake. We exchange a look then brush it off before making our way to Pan's shop. When we enter, we see Pan standing behind the counter with his signature smirk plastered onto his face.

"Come to make a deal?" he asks.

"Have any other demands?" I question as Felix and I approach him.

"I still need a heart."

"Something else. You know we can't get that."

"What about yours?"

"We already talked about this. Mine is too light. It'll end you the second you try to use it."

As soon as I finish my words, he walks around the counter and stands right in front of me before he leans closer to me that he gets inches away from me.

"Then it looks like I'm going to have to darken it," he whispers in my ear.

Before I could react, he uses his magic to push me against a wall while he uses his other hand to push Felix to the opposite one before he begins to choke me.

"Pan, stop!" Felix shouts.

"You can stop this, Jones," he tells me, "you just have to try and kill me."

"I can't," I manage to say, "you're already dead."

His smirk grows as he continues to force the air from my lungs before I close my eyes as I try to gasp for air, only to fail.

"Come on, Jones!" he shouts, "make a move!"

Darkness begins to take over when, all of a sudden, the pressure on my neck disappears and I fall to the floor. I slowly open my eyes to see Felix help me to my feet. When I look around the room for Pan, I find him nowhere in sight.

"Where is-" I stop myself when I see a puddle of water on the floor and, in the center, the dagger Hades gave to Felix, "I thought you said you weren't going to use that?"

"I needed to," Felix answers as he makes me look at him, "I couldn't let him hurt you."

As I stare at the puddle, I get a call before I take out my phone and see it's from Katherine.

"Hello?"

"Everly!" she exclaims, "Cruella and the Candy Witch locked us in the library!"

As soon as the words register in my head, I look at Felix before putting the call on speaker.

"What do you need me to do?" I ask.

"Use your light magic on the spell," Regina answers, "it should neutralize it."

"Got it."

"Hurry!"

As soon as I hang up the phone, we sprint out of the shop and towards the library. When we get there, I make Felix stand a little bit away from me then I shoot a beam of my magic at the doors. After a few moments, a light begins to glow on the other side of the door before the doors swing open.

"Why were you guys in there in the first place?" I ask as they approach us.

"There was this plant that was supposed to bring back Killian," Sam tells me.

"What about the heart split?" I question.

"It didn't work," Katherine says.

"Why?"

"Killian's been down here for too long," Austin answers.

When I open my mouth, no words come out before I turn to look at Felix as tears begin to form in our eyes.

"You...you can't come back," I whisper.

"I know," he responds, "I knew from the start."

I stare at him in disbelief before everyone begins to head to the cemetery, ushering Felix and me along with them.

***

As soon as we get to the cemetery, we sprint towards the glowing red portal.

"The portal, it's closing!" Emma shouts, "hurry! Hurry!"

I watch as Henry runs through the portal followed by Regina, Robin, David, Sam, and Katherine before Emma stops and looks back as I stop to face Felix, tears now streaming down our faces.

"You need to go, Sunshine," he tells me, "don't break your promise."

"I love you," I cry as I pull him in for one final hug.

"I love you, too."

"I wish I could have helped you move on."

"I can't move on without you. You're my unfinished business."

As soon as the words leave his mouth, I stare at him in disbelief as a smile forms on his face.

"I'll wait for you," he says, "for as long as it takes. Live a happy life."

Then we close the gap between us as our lips meet and we share one final kiss before we put our foreheads together and stare into each other's eyes one last time.

"You will always be my Sunshine."

"And you will forever be my Savior."

After staring into his blue-gray eyes for another moment, I slowly back away from him before turning and reluctantly going through the portal.
