Sirius Black
Who was that girl? Sirius stopped to think about her for a second before his best friend's voice clouded his thoughts.
"Padfoot, look! You were looking for a blonde girl, there's one right there!" James said, pointing to one of the blonde girls who didn't bother to look at the Marauders, who was reading a book on the couch in front of the blazing fire. Sirius glanced for half a millisecond at the girl, before scrunching up his nose and turning away. "Nah." He said.
James looked appalled. "Aren't you looking for another girl to kiss?"
Remus snickered and Peter snorted. The Marauders were huddled around one table, each sitting on a red chair.
"Yeah, I always am." Sirius responded simply. He leaned back into her chair and thought more about that girl. Leah Gray was her name? Or was it Leah Blue? It was a colour, Sirius was sure of it. He had seen her before, she was part of the family who had to go home back in the sorting ceremony of 1974.
"Who are you thinking of?" Remus asked, his eyes narrowed. "That blonde girl. I'm having second thoughts about her." Sirius lied.
"Fabulous!" James exclaimed, then got up out of his chair and said to Sirius, "Lets go say hi."
Sirius really didn't want to, but he also didn't want his friends to know the reason why he didn't want to find another girl to make out with.
Sirius begrudgingly got up and followed James to where the girl was sitting. She probably knew they were approaching, but she ignored them and kept on reading.
"Do your thing," James whispered, referring to Sirius's smooth, suave and flirty manner that made girls go wild.
Sirius walked up to her and said lamely, "Hi. I'm Sirius. What's your name?"
James looked confused.
The girl sighed, looked annoyed and said, "Hello. What do you want?"
To make sure James knew there wasn't anything wrong with him, he said, "To know your name, pretty."
He looked back at James, who didn't look confused anymore, to Remus, who looked like he was cringing.
The girl didn't budge. "It's Emily. Now please, what do you want? I want to finish this book by today."
"Honestly, I'm not sure. See you!" Sirius said, then walked away and towards his friends once again.
"Sirius, what's wrong with you? You gave up on her?" James asked.
Sirius sat back down and said, "Yeah, she was too much of a book nerd." Sirius fake yawned, and then said, "I'm tired. Wanna go up to the dormitory?"
╔═══°∴,*⋅✲══〖✰〗══✲⋅*,∴°═══╗
Sirius lay in his dormitory bed, and he heard the rest of the Marauder's slowly falling asleep and snoring. He, however, was wide awake, his mind working furiously to remember every feature of that girl he saw leaving the common room to go up to the girls dormitory. She slept in the same dorm as Lily Evans, James' crush.
Then a thought crossed his mind. There were bookshelves in the Gryffindor common room, and he had once heard that there were yearbooks. If he found the yearbook for the Gryffindor fourth years two years back, he would find the girl, and fully know her name! So Sirius pulled back his curtains, and silently tiptoed out of bed, and quickly checked to make sure he was the only one awake. When he was sure, he quietly opened the door and walked silently down the stairs.
The Gryffindor common room was empty. Smiling to himself, he tried to find his way in the dark to the bookshelves, using the glow of the fire as his only light.
He finally found the great wooden bookshelves, and tried to squint and activate his night vision. Suddenly conjuring a brilliant thought, he realized he needed his wand to cast the spell Lumos.
So up he went, tiptoeing back up the stairs and into the boys dorm, and quickly snatched his wand off his bedside table. He crept back down the stairs, and grinned to himself.
"Lumos," He whispered, then his wand conjured a glow of light. He waved his wand around, trying to find the light and-
"AHH!" Sirius screamed. A hand clamped over his mouth.
"Remus?" Sirius said, muffled. Remus removed his hand and sighed. "Why the heck are you sneaking down here at midnight?"
"How did you find me?" Sirius asked, slowly still using his wand to find the bookshelf. When he did, he started to walk forward, but Remus stopped him.
"I knew something was up with you. When I heard you get out of bed and slip down the stairs, I figured it was a girl you went off to snog in private. But now, I'm not so sure." Remus answered. "So why is the real reason you're here, Sirius?"
Sirius wildly looked around. "I wanted to enjoy some quality time with the- er..." He spotted the fireplace. "The fire."
"The fire." Remus repeated.
"Yes, the fire." Sirius repeated, more confidently.
"C'mon Sirius, I mean it." Remus said. They were standing in front of the bookcase. Quickly, Sirius turned his wand light towards the case and tried to find the yearbook.
"Fine! It's a girl." Sirius said, not caring anymore. He just wanted the yearbook.
"I knew it!" Remus said. "Which girl are you going to go and snog? Marlene McKinnon? That Emily? The girl who you dated for two hours last year?"
"No!" Sirius exclaimed. "No, not like that. There was this girl...." Sirius quickly explained everything to Remus.
"Sirius actually having feelings for a girl, not just wanting a face to kiss?" Remus said thoughtfully. "How interesting."
Sirius rolled his eyes. "Do you know her last name?"
"No, I don't. But I can help you find the yearbook." Remus offered, taking his wand out of his pj pocket and saying, "Lumos."
Now with the glow of two wands, the bookcase was illuminated and it wasn't before long that Remus found the yearbook of 1974.
"YES!" Sirius shouted, then took the book from Remus and flipped through. He searched through the pages until he found saw her picture.
"Yes, that's her." Sirius confirmed, pointing at the picture of the girl who he liked. He looked closer. "Leah White?"
"Look, I'm glad you found her, but can we please sit down? My legs are killing me." Remus complained, and Sirius rolled his eyes, but sat down.
"Whoa- she looks dif-"
"GUYS?!" Came a voice.
Sirius recognized it as the voice of James Potter. "What is it, James?" Sirius asked, annoyed. "I'm busy!"
"Why are you guys out of bed?" James asked, approaching the two of them. "And why are you holding a yearbook?"
"Sirius has a crush on this girl he saw for two seconds, and he wanted to know her name and whether she was part of the family that had to leave Hogwarts two years ago." Remus said quickly.
"The White's?" James asked.
Both Sirius and Remus looked at James questioningly.
"What?" James said. "Leah White was one of Lily's dorm mates. I wouldn't forget."
"She was pretty shy, I remember." Remus recalled. "Only stayed with her small group of friends."
"Alice Fortescue, Marlene McKinnon and of course, Lilyflower." James said, counting off his fingers.
Sirius glanced at the picture of Leah again. "She wasn't always attractive." He commented.
"Rude." Remus said immediately. "No, like, she definitely grew up and got prettier as she did." Sirius added. "Gosh, I need to see her again."
"Well, you're in luck, you probably have classes with her. Try to strike a conversation." James said. Then a look of realization dawned over him. "Ohhh, that's why you didn't try hard to get Emily to like you! You didn't want anyone but this Leah White!"
"True." Sirius admitted.
"Well tomorrow we can try as hard as we can to get her to like you back." Remus said.
"No!" Sirius said, with a surprising amount of power behind his voice. "Don't."
"What?" James asked, confused for what seemed like the seventh time that evening. "You don't want to confess?"
"No." Sirius said. "Just..just not yet. I want this to be real. If I just introduce myself as a friend, then she'll grow to know and like me. But if I tell her that I like her right away, then she'll pull a Lily on me."
"A Lily?" James asked, his eyebrows raised.
"The term for when a girl hates you for trying to flirt with her." Remus supplied. "Basically the definition of you and Lily's relationship."
"Oh." James's mood darkened. "Its late, let's go back to bed."
So they did, and Sirius knew that he couldn't wait for the next day to come.

If you enjoyed this chapter, a vote would be appreciated! Anyways, bye!
