Leah White

"Leah, your hair is super awesome, but just let me braid it!" Lily pleaded. 

Lily, Alice and Marlene seemed to think of Leah meeting Sirius at night as a 'date'. So they insisted on helping her get ready. 

They were sitting in a circle in their dormitory, and Lily had her makeup/hair bag out that she had brought from home. 

Leah winced. "Whenever someone braids my tangly hair, I usually end up with the comb and hair ties stuck in my hair," 

"Like the student who got the shears stuck in their hair?" Called Alice from her bed. She was looking for her bag. 

"Exactly." Leah replied. "So as much as I want to.....sorry Lils." 

"Guys, this convo is super interesting, but it's 9:45, and Leah is still wearing her robes.." Marlene reminded them. "And unless she runs, it takes like five minutes to get to the Entrance Hall." 

Alice came back to the circle with her bag, and she and Leah exchanged looks. "What am I even wearing? My robes are fine-" 

Lily pulled out a purple dress and a black belt. 

"Oo, I love this dress Leah, I wore it to my cousins sixteenth birthday, but you can wear it!" Lily said, holding the dress and belt out in front of her. 

Leah glanced at it. "I'm going to meet Sirius in the Entrance Hall, not go to a cocktail party."

"Who knows, he could be taking you as his date to a family cocktail party!" Marlene said, and Alice glared at her. "Hey, it was just a suggestion!" Marlene said defensively. 

"I think he's taking her to the kitchens for a snack," Alice suggested. "That sounds nice," 

"Or" Lily began. "Sirius could be taking her to hang out with the Marauders." 

"I think he's going to apologize to me," Leah said with a shrug. 

The three other girls gaped at her. 

"What?" Leah asked. "Sirius apologizes to me a lot." 

"Sure," Marlene replied with a smirk.

Leah saw Sirius waiting in the middle of the entrance hall, in a red sweater and jeans. Leah and the girls had ultimately decided against the purple dress, and instead Leah was wearing a purple turtleneck (it was getting colder) and and some black leggings. Leah's hair remained down. 

"Hey Sirius!" Leah said as she approached him. "Oh hi Leah." He said. "You look nice." 

"Thanks, so do you," Leah said with a smile. "What are we doing?" 

"I wish I could tell you," Sirius said with a grin. "But it'll be better as a surprise." 

"It's after curfew though," Leah pointed out. "I had some trouble getting here already. How are we going to avoid Filch?" 

Sirius pulled out a cloak that was almost invisible, but was slightly translucent, which indicated to Leah that it was there. 

"What's that?" She asked. 

"It's James's invisibility cloak," Sirius said. "He let me borrow it." 

"James has a cloak?!" Leah asked, surprised. "Those are rare, how does he-" 

"No time to explain, let's go before Filch comes,"  Sirius interrupted her. He threw the cloak over the two of them, and then he lead them up the stairs. 

Leah had closed her eyes, and let Sirius control their movements. He had insisted on making it even more of a surprise by making the route there a secret too. 

Leah could feel them going up stairs, as she had to move her legs, and taking turns. There were  a lot of stairs, which meant they had to be going really high. 

Finally, Sirius slowed down and Leah felt a cool night breeze. 

"Okay Leah, you can open your eyes." Sirius said in a low voice, and Leah felt the cloak being taken off them. 

Leah slowly opened her eyes, to see the dark night sky lightened up by the stars. 

"Wow, Sirius, why are we up on the Astronomy Tower?" Leah said, feeling slightly elated being on top of the highest tower at Hogwarts at night with no instruction. 

"I thought we could watch the stars together." Sirius said with a small smile. "You seem like a star-gazer kind of person.

That certainly seemed romantic. 

 Or it could have been Sirius's idea of a fun activity to do with a friend. But one thing was for sure. Leah's heart was beating almost as fast as it was when she left Hogwarts two years before. 

It could only mean one thing.....Leah liked Sirius Black. 

Even if he was stupid and arrogant at times, and was the biggest playboy at the school, Leah couldn't help but start liking him, especially after they had become friends. 

Had her friends been right? Was this a date, in Sirius's eyes? 

"This is great, Sirius." Leah said. "Thanks." 

Sirius set down a picnic blanket out of a backpack Leah hadn't even known he had, then took out a plate of sugar cookies, made specially by the house elves of the kitchens. 

The two of them sat down on the blanket, gazing up at the stars, as each one became even brighter against the dark, black sky. 

The sky was practically covered with stars. 

Billions of stars. 

The two sat in silence, watching the beauty of the stars, until Sirius said, "I always thought that every time a person was born, a new star in the sky would appear, and would watch over and act as that person for the rest of their life. And when they died, that star die too, but would always have a place in the sky." 

"And when two people got married, there stars would join together. Like the stars are the people, and the star is glowing inside every person too." 

Leah took a few moments to think this through. It was very philosophical, the most wise thing she had ever heard Sirius say. 

"Sirius, that's really nice. I've never heard you say something so wise." Leah teased. Then she became serious. "I've always thought that too. It sounds so hopeful, so..romantic." 

Sirius nodded. "Like the stars in the sky have the persons destiny written in them. Which is why the stars know when to join together." 

They gazed up at the glowing stars. 

Then, right in front of them, two stars started moving towards each, at a fast pace. 

Leah wanted to say something, but kept her mouth quiet. 

The stars moved even closer to each other, then when they were positioned in front of Leah and Sirius, they collided.

Or not. It seemed like they collided, but when the burst of light went away, a star came back, bigger and brighter than before. 

The stars...they had joined together. Had those stars held the fate of two people? Had it held the fate of....Leah and Sirius?

To calm her thoughts, Leah reached for a cookie, and it seemed Sirius did too. Their hands touched, right over the cookie. 

Leah looked down at her hand, just as Sirius did. Their minds were thinking alike. 

"Did you want it?" Sirius asked. "You can have it." 

"Oh- thanks." Leah said. "Did you see that?" 

"Looks like the stars sensed two people in love or something." Sirius joked. He cleared his throat. "Um, Leah, can I tell you something?" 

Leah nodded. 

"The reason why I organized this is..... well, er-" he blushed. "I wanted to say that I really like you. Like, like like you." 

Leah was taken aback. Was this happening? In front of two stars that had just collided, no less. It was, she wasn't dreaming. Everything seemed so real....yet Leah couldn't find the proper response. 

"It's...it's like the stars." Leah said. "That- I...I think I like you too, Sirius." 

Sirius grinned. "Really?" 

"Actually, no let me think about it." Leah said seriously. "Seriously, Sirius? What do you think?!" 

Sirius laughed, and Leah chuckled. "To think I would have ever liked an idiot like you."

"I'll take that as a compliment," Sirius said. 

They stopped talking and looked up at the stars once more. The joined star was still glowing strong. 

Leah was about to say something else, but her thought was stopped when she saw a shadow of a cloaked person walking across the grounds in front of the tower. She peeked over to see. 

She gasped. 

"Sirius, I have to go!" She exclaimed hurriedly. 

"What?" Sirius yelped. Now? They had been having a nice moment! 

Leah quickly thanked Sirius, then stood up. Sirius stood up, shocked. 

"Bye Sirius! Thanks again!" She said, then quickly pecked him on the cheek. Then, she ran to the door, opened it, and then left. 

Sirius was shocked. 

He looked over the edge, trying to see what had spooked Leah. All he saw was a cloaked figure. What was so scary about that? 

Then he realized: what was a cloaked figure doing late at night, exploring the Hogwarts grounds? The teachers were all inside, and intruders weren't allowed. 

Then Sirius thought he knew what that figure was. 

Hey guys! Omg the moment has finally come, they confessed their feelings 😭 I literally was kinda sad writing this, they've come a long way. I've been wanting to write this moment for so long, but I didn't want it too early or too late, so chapter 14 seemed good. I'm not sure if them admitting their feelings was the right way to go, instead of something else *;)* but I tried writing it the other way and this was better.
