It was their last day at the beach house and it was thanksgiving. Ava reached for the doorknob until she heard little notes coming from the room. It was the sound of strings on a guitar, a very nostalgic sound for Ava.

His soft voice was heard over the sounds of the guitar. Ava rested her head against the doorframe to listen to Nicholas's voice.

He hummed along to the notes he was playing.

Ava loved when he would sing. Nicholas used to do it so much when he was younger. His guitar was practically glued to his hand. After some moments when it got quiet, Ava opened the door.

"Dinner is ready, are you coming?" Ava told him.

Nicholas gave her a curt nod and put his guitar against the bed for it to lean on. They both ran down the stairs to get seated at the dining table.

"Finally, it took you quite sometime to get here." Lucy exclaimed.

"Sorry, I got distracted on the way." Ava admitted to her mother. Nicholas gave her a side look. He definitely knew she was listening a couple minutes ago.

"Let's say grace." John told the whole table. The Hughes part of the family wasn't even religious, but did it for the Chavez's. Ava's father grabbed his wife's hand and the rest of the table did as them. Ava closed her eyes and grabbed Nicholas's hand and her mother's.

While most them said grace, Ava peaked through her lashes and took a look at the man sitting next to her. He must have noticed that she wasn't concentrated on what was said, because he opened his eyes.

He gave her a weird face as to why she was looking at him. Ava shook her head and tried to muffle a little chuckle. He smiled at her reaction and closed his eyes again.

After that everyone started grabbing food from the table. Ava's mother would always cook way too much at thanksgiving, and they didn't even really celebrate. Ava would probably get some left overs to bring home.

Their parents were all out to a pub for a drink. Ava was kind of bummed that it was their last night at the house. Even though she had that one big fight with Nicholas, they made up and are currently watching a movie together.

"You can so see who the killer is!" Nicholas screamed at the television. Ava laughed at his accusation, he got so caught up in these kind of movies.

"No I'm serious! They're so obviously with the looks at the talk." He looks at Ava with big eyes.

They were watching the first Scream movie, it was an old film but they were indeed obvious of who the killers were. It still remained Ava's favourite horror movie.

"I believe you, calm down it's a movie Nicholas." She chuckled at his expression.

"Sucks this wasn't filmed in this time period, I would never have guessed who it was then." He continues his rambling.

"I like that's it's filmed in 1996, Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard in their prime back then, wow!" I mean everyone thought they looked so good back then, they still do.

"You only watch it for the hot guys." Nicholas exclaimed. That's why you watched General Hospital yesterday."

"First it's a good movie and second there was nobody hot in General Hospital." That she would admit to.

"Not even me? Ugh I'm so hurt!" Nicholas clutched his chest acting like he was hurt.

Ava Gave him a push. "Your ego is getting too big Nicholas Alexander."

They both laughed it off. She was happy that they got along again, even though they had to talk through some things.

"I heard you on the guitar again." Ava admitted to listening to him.

"And what did you think?" He asked.

"It was like old times again."

A big smile grew on his lips.

"I'm glad it's like old times again."
