It was a sacred beauty gifted to her.

The power she held would put one in a trance. For others, she was their downfall, envious of what she possessed.

The nature of her true self was so beautiful, so enthralling.

Sort of as if it's a spark, rushing through her veins and reaching it's way to fall on her fingertips as the mist slowly appeared, lightly dancing on them, aglow like a flame being lit up from a matchstick. The light then intensifying and illuminating, manipulating into any shape she wished upon, and releasing itself on to the air, bursting out into tiny little fireworks and raining down like freckles of luminesce stardust.

Yet she couldn't seem to love herself.

To her, it was a reminder, the harsh reality that she had been living with a lie. The once perfect girl, full of radiance and happiness she made herself to be was someone who she deep down never knew at all.

She was a lie.

She was a tragedy.

She was gifted with a curse that was all too well hidden, a scar tainted on her forever.

━━━━━━━━━━

Evelyn stirred in her sleep, huffing and struggling when she could no longer force herself to fall asleep, along with the curiosity set in her thoughts which refused to leave.

"I am not going to ask him," she mumbled, snuggling herself under the cover.

"Niko," she whispered to the bunny who was snuggled besides her head, sleeping soundly. "Why am I even talking to you?"

Evelyn decided to keep it as Niko much to Klaus' protest and whining about how he didn't want a bunny named after him, but she didn't care.

And to get under Klaus' skin she had also named him a Mikaelson. Niko Thumper Mikaelson.

Thumper being from one of her favourite Disney movie, Bambi.

This almost led to Klaus threatening to throw Niko off the balcony, but a kick on the balls by Evelyn and getting sprayed with vervain and wolfsbane was enough for him to rethink his decision.

Stefan had to physically drag Evelyn away from Klaus. But the silent treatment Evelyn and Klaus had given to each other again was one of the best moments in Stefan's life.

That was until yesterday. To say he was done with them was an understatement.

Evelyn looked up at the ceiling, sighing. "Nope. Go away. I'm not going into Nik's room." She shook the thought away.

3... 2... 1

"Okay, maybe I will." She threw the covers off of her, carefully laying it back on Niko and pressing a kiss on top of his soft, fluffy head.

Slipping her foot inside the slippers, she moved herself towards Klaus' room. "Don't fall. Don't fall," she repeated to herself, skidding to a halt and knocking on his door.

She heard his voice, calling her to step inside and opened up the door, peeking her head in. "Oh good, you're awake," she sighed in relief.

"Is everything okay, my love?" Klaus looked up at her.

There it was again. My love. The endearment always made Evelyn's heart flutter. It made her feel giddy. No, stop! Don't feel special. He probably calls others that too.

"Love," Klaus called, bringing Evelyn back from her inner argument with herself.

"What?" Evelyn asked and he gave her a look. "Oh yeah– so I have to ask you something?"

"Did you wake up just to ask me a question?" Klaus raised a brow.

She nodded, "Partially." He patted the spot next to him and she made her way over to his bed, taking a seat on the edge of it.

"I couldn't stop thinking about it and it's been bugging me in my sleep too. It's a really important question," she emphasised the important.

"Go on." Klaus sat up and Evelyn made herself comfortable as she crossed her legs, facing opposite him.

"Does your wolf have a name of it's own? You know like an alter ego?" Evelyn asked.

Klaus sighed, running a hand over his face. He looked back at Evelyn, her hands were clasped in front of her and head tilted slightly with a wide smile on her face, waiting for him to answer.

He gave up with her never ending curiosity about his wolf. "This is what's been keeping you awake?"

"I need to know!"

"I don't have one."

"Can I name your wolf then?" She asked, beaming with hopeful eyes. "Please." She took a hold of his hand and tugged on it.

Klaus' eyes widened. "That will never happen," he shook his head rapidly.

"I even said please," she scoffed, letting go of his hand and crossed them over her chest.

Klaus frowned to himself when Evelyn let go of his hand. Needy bastard.

"You'll still manage to find a way to insult me," he pointed out.

"I do not insult you," Evelyn gasped and Klaus raised a brow, calling it bullshit.

"Fine, but it's unintentional. I tend to blurt things out," she said.

"I've noticed," he mumbled.

"Oh come on, it will be a lovely name this time. I'll even give you options," she reasoned.

"I don't want to know." He stood up.

"You'll absolutely love it," she nodded with confidence.

"I won't."

He offered his hand to her and she took it as he helped her stand up. Placing a hand on the small of her back, he guided her from out of the room and into the kitchen.

"I promise. It won't sound horrible." He smiled at her bickering.

She sat on the barstool as he opened up the fridge. "Ice cream or lemonade?" He asked her.

"I'll have a glass of water. I'm not hungry," she said.

Klaus paused for a second then turned back to her. "Are you okay?"

"Yes."

He eyed her then slowly nodded, pouring her a glass of water. Still confused with her.

Evelyn took a sip of her water, "Nik, i'll give you a cute name."

"No."

Evelyn gazed up at him, jutting her bottom lip out and giving him the eyes that he couldn't resist. Klaus took a deep breath, losing the will power and almost giving in to her demand.

"Love–"

"We don't have to play fetch," she tried to compromise with him.

He scoffed, "That was never going to happen."

"We don't–" Evelyn began.

Klaus placed his hands on the counter, narrowing his eyes down at her, his face close to hers. Evelyn had been happily drinking when she made eye contact with the serious look on his face. "Woah," she giggled.

"We are never playing fetch, you're not naming my wolf, you're not getting me a leash and you're most certainly not going to feed me dog food ever. Do you understand?"

"Copy that," Evelyn nodded with a salute.

"Good."

"So what about a kennel? You know for when you need to rest and too lazy to shift back," she suggested.

Klaus turned away from her, closing his eyes for a second. Give me a break!

"Nik?" Her soft voice called him. "What do you think? I personally think it'll be beneficial for you and i'll make it so comfy for you. We'll even go shopping for it tomorrow when we buy Niko his harness."

"You know what?" Klaus began and her smile widened. He's finally going to say yes. She cheered to herself.

"Because of you. I'm not turning. Ever," he smiled back sarcastically.

"But I really wanted to give you a belly rub. You're such a boring puppy," she mumbled under her breath.

Klaus' eyes glared into hers and she looked up at him, giving him an innocent smile. "What? I didn't say anything. You're hearing things."

"I don't understand why you're so obsessed with my wolf," he murmured with a shake of his head and turned back around to pour himself a glass of water too.

"I just want to know, Nik. What's the harm in the answering my questions," she rolled her eyes.

"You have the bunny now," he muttered, bitterly.

"His name is Niko," she pointed out.

"Thumper," he said instead.

"That's his middle name. Say his first name. Now," she demanded.

"Niko," he gritted out with force.

"Well done," she clapped her hands.

"I hate that bunny," he muttered to himself.

Sighing, Evelyn rested her arms on top of the counter, listening to Klaus speak as her eyes slowly trailed down to his back, sucking in a deep breath as she bit on her lower lip at the sight. Oh wow. He really does have a nice ass.

Her eyes widened at the realisation at what she was thinking. Enough Eve! You're being a creep. She still refused to take her eyes off him, her head tilting slightly as she rested her cheek on her palm. Does he workout?

'Wow.' She mouthed, watching as Klaus moved around, making his back muscles flex.

Stop! Think of something disturbing. She covered a hand over her eyes and shook her head.

"Eve, love." She jumped up in surprise, eyes widening when he turned back to face her.

"What?" She squeaked out and immediately cleared her throat. "Yeah?" She crossed her arms over her chest, leaning back in her seat and trying to stay relaxed and cool.

"I was asking if you wanted another glass." He gestured to her empty glass.

"Oh yeah sure. I'm so hungry– I mean thirsty." She let out a nervous laugh and gave her glass back to him.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Klaus asked.

"Yeah." Evelyn avoided to look at his back and glanced up at the ceiling. Don't look at his ass again. Don't look. It's rude. She repeated.

Taking a seat next to her, there was a small pause as Evelyn drank her water and did her best to keep her gaze away from him.

Klaus smirked when he shifted closer to her, speaking the next words near her ear. "You should really be more careful with your leering," he teased.

Evelyn froze, eyes wide and almost spitting out her drink. "What in the fruity flavour are you talking about?! I did no such thing!"

"Mhm," Klaus only chuckled, sipping his own drink as he kept his eyes on her flustered form

"Stop laughing!"

"I don't mind, love. You can look at it more," he shrugged. "As long as it's fair and mutual between us."

"I wasn't– stop! Get over yourself," she groaned out of frustration and he gave her a look of amusement.

"Am I making you nervous?" His voice was low, sending a shiver down her spine before she found it in her to say something.

"I thought I saw your tail wiggling." She processed what she had just said then threw a hand over her mouth, her laughter was muffled against it.

Klaus kept his glare on Evelyn's mischievous ones, narrowing them and she suddenly bolted off. She giggled when he had used his speed and wrapped his arm around from behind, lifting her up. "Nik." She waved her her legs in the air.

"Apologise," he said and she continued to laugh as she struggled to release herself from his hold.

"I'm–" He waited for her to apologise. "I mean you're part wolf so does that mean you have a hairy ass?"

Evelyn brought her hand out to pinch him on his nose, making Klaus let go of her. "Bloody hell woman. Why are you always pinching my nose?"

"That's a good puppy." She gave him a pat on his head and ran into her room, making sure to lock the door.

He stood near her door, thinking of a way to get her out of the room and smirked, knowing it would make Evelyn angry. "I'll be having the last tub of your ice cream."

"What the hell did you just say? Oh no, no, no, you did not just say that!" She stormed towards her door, yanking it open. "Put that down," she warned.

Klaus rested his hip against the counter, taking the lid off and grabbing a spoon. "Apologise first." He dug into the ice cream and she gasped.

"You don't want to do this." Her tone was low and he chuckled.

"Oh I will," he said. "I wonder who'll buy more for you from now on," he murmured in thought.

"I wonder who'll use their sprays, taser, crossbow and many other ways to torture you," she mocked and ran after him.

"Sounds sadistic, love. Is that what you're into? Finding pleasure from inflicting pain?" He teased.

"You're so dirty minded," she gave him a look of disgust, although her cheeks were slightly tinted from his blunt words.

Klaus kept taking steps back each time Evelyn moved forward, lifting his hand up in the air so she couldn't reach for it. "Oh look, it seems to be the flavour you love the most," he said with a smug smile.

"Don't you dare eat it!"

"Then apologise to me first."

A sound of the door opening caught their attention and a tired Stefan was leaning against it as he rubbed at his eyes, looking between the two. "What are you both arguing about now? In the middle of the night as well?!" He scowled at the duo.

"She said my ass is hairy," Klaus said. "He's going to eat the last tub of my ice cream," Evelyn said at the same time.

Stefan sighed, "It's a good thing I bought the noise cancelling headphones today. Best purchase i've ever made." He stepped back and shut the door, leaving the two to argue between themselves.

"Stefan! You were supposed to help me!" Evelyn shouted out.

"Goodnight to you too!" Stefan shouted back and laid back down on his bed, placing the headphones over his ears and sighing in content when he could no longer hear their bickering. "So much better."

Evelyn glared back at Klaus as he stood behind the counter, a barrier in between them. "This does look amazing. I can't wait to try it." He glanced down at the tub.

Evelyn's eyes widened. "I'm sorry," she mumbled out quickly.

"What was that? I didn't quite catch it," he taunted with a teasing tone.

"I'm not saying it again," she scoffed.

"Oh well," he shrugged and brought the spoon near to his lips.

"I'm sorry! Now give it back." She reached out and he lifted his hand up. "Niklaus," she warned.

Klaus chuckled as he gave the tub back to her and she snatched it off him. "You're supposed to say thank you," he narrowed his eyes at her.

"You're welcome," she cheekily replied back.

Evelyn looked up at the spoon he was holding which had the scoop of the ice cream and immediately ate it before he could. Klaus' eyes grew darker, too transfixed with desire and watched as her tongue darted out to clean the spoon. She didn't have a clue what she was doing to him as he fed her and it made him want more of her naΓ―ve teasing.

I need to stop. He scolded himself. He just had a shower not too long ago.

He hadn't realised when Evelyn snatched the spoon off him and moved away from him, sitting down and quietly eating. Clearing his throat, he straightened himself back up and glanced back to Evelyn.

He smiled at the adorable glares she attempt to throw at him. "You look more gorgeous when you're angry."

Evelyn huffed at that but chose not to speak to him.

"So you're not going to talk to me now?" She remained quiet. "I should be the one giving you the silent treatment for insulting me."

Klaus reached out to drag the stool she was sitting on and pulled her closer to him. She quietly gasped when her face was inches away from his, her knees facing in between his legs that were spread out and immediately kept herself calm and collected. They held each other's gaze for a moment, neither of them refusing to look away.

Klaus smiled, trying to make her smile but she kept her lips pressed in a thin line, finally looking away. He then gently grabbed her chin, tilting it to face him.

"Talk to me," he begged.

Evelyn then suddenly burst out into fits of laughter and Klaus stared at her for a moment, admiring the sight in front of him.

"Did Stefan say he bought noise cancelling headphones?" She asked.

"Mhm," he nodded.

"That's so rude of him. We don't even argue as much as we used to before," Evelyn murmured.

"I mean you're always the one that starts it," he mumbled under his breath but she heard it clearly.

"See, that's why we're always arguing. You're always accusing me," she retorted back.

"Because it is."Β

She narrowed her eyes at him. "Excuse me? You take that back right now."

"Only if you change my name on your phone. I can't believe you still have me saved as Kevin the Hybrid Creep."

"Oh so you want to talk about that now," she let out a dry laugh. "Well get over it. Be grateful that I at least took the emoji off."

"That's not enough!"

"Besides you named me Edith the Crazy Girl so you change yours first." She poked her finger on his chest.

"No. I think it's perfect," he shrugged.

Evelyn eyed Klaus' phone that was resting on the counter and slowly brought out her hand to take it. He quickly took a hold of her wrist, gently. "I don't think so."

"I'm putting the emoji back then," she said. His eyes widened when he checked her phone, seeing the new change she added and attempted to snatch it off her.

"Take both of them off."

"Never and I also changed my password."

Evelyn grumbled in annoyance as she used both of her hands to put Klaus' hand down, playing a game of arm wrestling. "I'm starting to get bored now, love. And you're even using both hands," he teased.

"That's because i'm going easy on you," Evelyn scoffed at him.

"I'm sure you are."

"I am!"

He rested his cheek on his other hand that had been resting on the counter too, chuckling at how much Evelyn was struggling.

"Don't look at me like that," she mumbled.

"Like what? I'm just admiring the beauty."

"You're trying to distract me. Stop." Evelyn forced the blush to not rise up on her cheeks from his intense gaze.

"But i'm admiring the painting behind you," Klaus smirked.

"That's nice to know," Evelyn smiled sarcastically.

"Give up, love. You'll lose," he said when she still struggled to put his hand down.

"Oh my God, is that a ghost?" She gasped, looking past him.

"Nice try."

Defeated, Evelyn removed her hand. "Since i'm nice. I'll let you win this game." She waved it off.

"Is someone annoyed that they finally lost," Klaus humoured.

"I only let you win because you'll end up crying yourself to sleep knowing i'm better than you." She rested her hands on her hips.

"Fine. Let's do it again," Klaus challenged her as he stood in front of her, his body towering over hers.

"I'll pass. I need to take a rest. Being amazing can be stressful sometimes but you wouldn't know how that feels," she shrugged.

"Just admit that you lost."

"Now that is something you would know a lot about, wouldn't you?" Evelyn teased and Klaus took a step towards her.

"Okay, okay." She let out a breathless laugh and held her hands up. "I'll stop."

"For now," he mumbled.

"True." Evelyn nodded and Klaus scoffed, rolling his eyes at her.

"Fine. I'll give you a few days break then. You deserve it, I guess." She gave him a cheeky smile and he couldn't help but hold a smile on his own face.

"Want to watch a rom com with me?" She asked, her eyes glistening up with so much excitement.

"Do I have a choice?"

"Never." She dragged him into the living room.

Evelyn laughed, settling down on the couch as the movie played on the screen. They silently watched as Klaus enjoyed the distraction, watching more of Evelyn than the movie and stealing glances every now and then, noticing how wide her smile was and the way she would grow with excitement every time she particularly loved a scene and letting him know of it.

"Nik! We need to start our Marvel marathon. Tomorrow night it is!" She squealed with joy.

"Every bloody night I suffer."

"Shh. It's compulsory to watch Marvel or else you don't have a life."Β

"What is your biggest pet peeve?"

Evelyn waited for Stefan as he thought to himself, "When people chew very loudly."

"It must be horrible especially with your vamp hearing," she wrinkled her nose and he nodded.

"Mine is the same too along with when the chalk scrapes the board. Ew," she shivered at the thought.

Evelyn suddenly grimaced at the sound of a glass smashing against the wall outside her room. She looked across over at Stefan who was now laying down on her bed, shrugging at her when his eyes met hers. "I've lost count," he said, resting an arm over his eyes.

"Me too," she nodded, looking down at Niko who had been nuzzling his head against her leg and she picked him up, placing a kiss on his head.

Klaus had returned back after another failed attempt from finding Ray, and it had eventually turned into a routine for them to give him space so he could throw and break things around, making sure Evelyn wasn't present in the room with him.

"Which one do you think?" Evelyn held out two outfits.

"They both look nice," Stefan shrugged.

"Stefano!" Evelyn groaned. "You're not being helpful and I'm indecisive."

"Just–" Stefan began but Evelyn's eyes widened when they heard a loud bang.

"That was the loudest one i've heard so far. What do you think he broke?" She whispered.

"I don't know."

The two stared at each other for a moment, then rushed towards the door, slightly opening it and poking their heads out. Stefan's chin rested on top of Evelyn's head, and both grimaced at the mess Klaus created.

"And here we thought Damon was dramatic," Stefan murmured and Evelyn nodded in agreement.

"Oh incoming." Evelyn quickly shut the door when another glass smashed against her door this time. "Not on my door, Nik!"

"I specifically told you stay in your room!" She heard Klaus shout at her.

"You lower that tone with me, mister!"

"Eve," Stefan whispered, gesturing for her to shut up.

"He hit it on my door though," she whispered back.

"Don't make him more angry," he scolded and she rolled his eyes.

"Come on, you still need to choose my outfit." Evelyn made him sit down on the bed and she ran back to the closet, getting out all of her outfits for him to choose, the best friends spending another hour trying to ignore Klaus' tantrum.

"How do I look?" Evelyn twirled around in her dress, looking over at herself through the mirror.

"For the hundreth time, Eve. You look good in anything," Stefan said.

"Stefan, I love you but there's no need to lie to me. Even Niko is better at choosing my outfits," she rolled her eyes.

"Wait," Stefan said and they remained silent, hearing nothing for the next few minutes. "I think he's done."

"I'll take one for the team and check up on him," Evelyn whispered to him.

"I don't think you should– and you've left." Stefan murmured to himself when Evelyn already walked out of her room.

He glanced down at Niko who had been nuzzling his head against Stefan's leg, asking to be picked up. "Oh– uh–" Stefan awkwardly patted him on the head. "Now. Go away."

━━━━━━━━━━

"Hey, Nik," Evelyn's tone was cheery whilst taking slow and careful strides towards Klaus, eyeing him warily.

"I told you stay in your room," he sighed, taking a seat on the barstool.

Evelyn grimaced at the sight around her. It kept getting worse as each day passes.

"Is that juice? Can I have some? Oh never mind." Evelyn's wrinkled her nose when watching Klaus pour blood into his glass from a compelled maid's wrist.

He waved the woman off to leave and Evelyn nodded at her. "Make sure to put a bandage on that!" She called out.

Evelyn glanced back to Klaus, giving him a warm smile. "How are you feeling? After all the–" She gestured around them.

I still have the urge to tear a few lungs and hearts out which I will do later on but not in front of you. Respectfully of course. "I'm fine," he mumbled with a grim expression.

"Okay," Evelyn nodded. "I'll leave you alone. Bye."

"Stop," he said and gestured to the seat next to him, a silent invite to sit down.

━━━━━━━━━━

Evelyn ran into Stefan's room, slamming the door shut and resting her head against it as Stefan looked at her, and the terrified wide eyes she held.

"Hey– What's wrong, Eve?" Stefan approached her and she immediately embraced him.

"I did something really bad, Stef," Evelyn whispered, placing her hands on his arm to look up at him.

"Take deep breaths first," Stefan softly spoke and Evelyn did what he said. "Okay, now what's got you like this?"

"I spanked Nik on his ass."

"Evelyn!" Stefan gasped with wide eyes too.

"It was by accident. I can explain!" She chastised.

━━━━━━━━━━

She laid across on the couch, reading a book, giving a quick glance to Niko. The bunny was hopping around, occasionally going near Evelyn to get a head rub from her.

She felt a light buzz near her ear, growing louder and louder. She groaned, trying to swat the fly away from her. "Go away."

Sitting up on her knees, she grabbed the pillow near her and followed where the fly was as she struck at it. "I'm just trying to read my book in peace."

She huffed and eyed the fly in the air, attempting to catch it in between the hands but failed to do so.

Klaus stepped out of his room, his eyes catching Evelyn waving her arms in the air and speaking to herself. "What is she doing now?" He mumbled.

Approaching her, he walked past to face her when he suddenly felt a hand collide against his ass harshly and a loud gasp from Evelyn.

Klaus turned to her, already looking up at him with horrified wide eyes and one of her hands still raised in the air. "Did you just spank me?"

"I– I," Evelyn panicked and stood up, picking up Niko as she ran as fast as she could, trying to figure out where to disappear. Klaus watched her running in every direction as she kept mumbling curses to herself and finally ran into Stefan's room.

"She just spanked me," Klaus mumbled, placing a hand over his ass.

━━━━━━━━━━

"I'm pretty sure i'm going to die now," Evelyn said to Stefan. "He's finally calm, but now I just brought the anger back in him."

"Can you imagine this? Cause of my death: for spanking Nik's ass," she gasped. "I just ruined my own life."

"He's not going to kill you," Stefan reassured her.

"He definitely is going to!" Evelyn exclaimed. "You should've seen the way he looked at me. Like I was his next meal."

"Eve," Stefan sighed. "You're being too dramatic now. Just explain to him that it was by accident."

"I don't want to leave this room ever. Maybe I'll just write him a letter and slip it under his door. Oh and do you think he'll like a box of chocolates? Maybe I'll give him a little bit of my ice cream. Just 2 tablespoons though."

"Will you just listen to me?" Stefan stressed out.

She ignored him. "Oh wait, shall I give him a rat as an apology/peace offering? Wait, he's not a vamp vegan like you."

Stefan buried his face in his hands, pacing around the room as Evelyn continued to ramble.

"Oh no, Stefan. Does that mean I have to gift a human to him? What if he decides he wants to eat me instead?!" She whispered.

Stefan shook his head to himself and held Evelyn by her shoulder, whirling her around and opened up the door. "Just apologise." He gently pushed her out of the room.

"If he kills me–"

"He won't. I hope not," Stefan murmured.

"Stefan!" Evelyn shouted.

They both looked up to see Klaus standing inches away from them. Evelyn gulped and Stefan massaged her shoulders, nudging her to apologise.

"I'm sorry that I spanked you?– I mean so sorry," she stammered over her words.

"See? It wasn't that hard," Stefan said and walked back into his room.

Evelyn turned around to follow Stefan instead. "Wrong way." He stopped and turned her back around.

"But–" Stefan shut the door to his room.

Evelyn could feel Klaus' eyes on her. "H– Hey, you're still standing here." She gave him a hesitant smile.

She took a deep breath. "Look I didn't mean to do it. There was a fly that was constantly irritating me and you just happened to walk past so my hand touched your ass accidentally. I'm really sorry that I hurt you. I hope I didn't leave my handprint on your ass though," she mumbled the last part to herself.

"It's okay," Klaus cut her off but Evelyn didn't hear a word.

"I know I bruised your ego and pride for what I did. No pun intended. Ha. You get it? Because I may have bruised your ass. No? Okay, that's totally not fine. I shouldn't be joking about this."

Klaus gave her a look of amusement, suppressing in his laughter.

"Just please don't kill me or eat me," she pleaded. "I might not even be your blood type."

"Are you done?"

"Uh yes," Evelyn nodded. "Actually, I would like to give you a gift as an apology as well. What do you like? Just a reminder that i'm not rich like you." She nervously played with her fingers and laughed.

"I'm fine, love. You didn't hurt me," he reassured her.

"Are you sure? I even heard the slap myself. It was very loud," she whispered.

Klaus noticed the guilt and embarrassment written all over her face, her face beginning to get redder and he gave her a smile. "Yes. We won't ever have to speak about this if it makes you feel better. It never happened."

"Okay," She nodded. "Once again. I'm so–"

"Don't even say it," he warned her.

"I can't help it." Evelyn gave him a sheepish smile.

"Are you really going to keep your distance away from me now?" Klaus pointed to the way Evelyn was slowly shifting on her feet backwards, making sure she was far from him.

"Pfft. I'm not doing anything." She waved it off with a scoff.

"You're still moving backwards and close to hitting yourself against the wall."

"That's because i'm doing the moonwalk. Jeez, Nik. I told you to catchup with the 21st century, will ya? I even offered to teach you how to dance." Evelyn reached out from behind to open her door and stepped inside whilst keeping her eyes on Klaus, waving at him and shut the door.

"Crazy girl," he mumbled under his breath.

━━━━━━━━━━

"Where's Eve?" Klaus asked when he noticed Evelyn wasn't around and causing her usual antics, but rather found Stefan by himself.

"She's waiting for us downstairs in the lobby."

Klaus nodded as they left the hotel suite and arrived at the lobby, scanning around to find Evelyn more specifically at the reception desk where she would usually be by every morning before they left, chatting with her new friends she met.

"Have we lost her again?" Stefan sighed.

Klaus rubbed at his temples. Now he was definitely tempted to handcuff Evelyn to him so she didn't leave his sight.

A sound of a horn caught their attention as they looked over at the front entrance on the driveway. A joyful Evelyn rolled down the window and waved over at them. "Get in my bitches! We're going on another roadtrip!"

Klaus approached the entrance, glowering at the valet. "Why did you give her my car keys?"

"Miss Gilbert said it was her car." The valet stammered over his words as he avoided to make eye contact with Klaus.

"Nik! Come on, I don't have all day. I got errands to do," Evelyn dramatically exclaimed.

"What errands?" Stefan asked as he sat at the back. Evelyn glanced over her shoulder, peering up at him. "Ignore what I said," he chuckled.

Klaus opened the door, gesturing for Evelyn to get out. "Uh– what do you think you're doing? Are you trying to sit on my lap? The passenger seat is actually next to me." She raised a brow at him.

"You're not driving," Klaus said.

"Why not?"

Stefan poked his head in between the seats and spoke up. "Because you failed your test 4 times," he snickered. "Can you even reach the pedals?"

Evelyn laughed and Stefan joined in until he saw the anger in her eyes and her jaws clenching, like she was ready to use her spray or taser on him.

"I'm sorry," he quickly said when she took off her seatbelt, ready to lunge at him.

"Get out," Klaus said to Evelyn.

"That was very rude so no i'm not going to move now, sit down there." She gestured to the passenger seat.

"I will once you move."

"Is this because i'm a female? Are you being sexist? Are you trying to insinuate that women can't drive?" She looked offended.

"What? No– That's not what I was saying. Now, you're assuming things!" Klaus chastised.

"Then get inside," she said.

He glared at her and she matched his expression, tapping her fingers on the steering wheel impatiently. "Fine, Stefan, Niko and I are leaving. Have a nice time walking. Might take a couple of days for you." She switched on the engine, pressing her foot on the accelerator and almost drove off.

"Wait." Klaus stood in front of the car and she stopped, smirking at him. He inhaled a deep breath and walked over towards the passenger seat.

"Seat belt, please." Evelyn reminded him.

Klaus ignored her, "Do you have to bring that everywhere with you?" He gestured to the bunny inside his carrier.

"That?!" Evelyn exclaimed. "That has a name. What's his name?"

Stefan sighed, rubbing at his temples and prepared himself for a long journey filled with their bickering.

"Is he okay?" Evelyn asked.

"No. I'm not fine," Stefan snapped.

"Not you. I'm asking about Niko, " Evelyn said.

2 hours later

"You can not be reading a map whilst driving." Klaus snatched the map off Evelyn's hands.

"Well, I wouldn't have to if someone hadn't forgot to charge the sat nav. Again," Evelyn accused.

"How is this my fault?" Klaus scoffed.

"Because you just can't seem to understand one simple thing," Evelyn remarked back.

"There we go again with the blaming." Klaus rolled his eyes.

"I understand you're 1000 years old–"

Klaus interrupted her, "Don't even finish that sentence."

"Why are you assuming things now?"

"Because you and I both know where this will go," he said.

"I was about to compliment you for managing to look good at your old age," Evelyn rebuked in defence. "Don't be shy. What's your skincare routine?"

"I should've brought the headphones with me," Stefan mumbled.

"Stefan told me what shampoo he uses and look how amazing my hair looks. We both have hero hairs now. We'll share our secret to you if you share yours?" Evelyn shrugged.

"We're not sharing." Stefan poked his head in between to look at Evelyn.

"Be a good boy and go back to sleep." Evelyn placed a hand over his face and moved him back.

"I really don't want to know," Klaus said.

"Sounds like you want to. It's okay to ask for something, Nik. There's nothing embarrassing about it," Evelyn teased.

"Guys just shut up! I've had enough," Stefan exclaimed.

"Indoor voices, Stefan," Evelyn scolded him. "Niko is sleeping."

"Then get out of the car!" Klaus scowled at Stefan.

"Don't you dare do that, Stefan. Keep your ass on that seat," Evelyn told him as she glared daggers at Klaus.

"Fine, i'll snap his neck again so he'll stop complaining," Klaus sneered.

"And i'll snap yours, Nik!" Evelyn scowled back at him. Both Klaus' and Stefan's eyes widened at the aggressive outburst from her.

"I think I will?" She questioned herself as she slightly slumped down in her seat.

━━━━━━━━━━

Evelyn sighed, crossing her arms over her chest as she glared at Klaus who had been speaking on the phone. He had sent Stefan to run an errand leaving Evelyn with him.

Klaus had also somehow managed to convince Evelyn to leave Niko at the car, reassuring her that no one would kidnap him.

Glancing around her, she spotted a store that caught her interest. When she noticed Klaus turn his back to her she used this opportunity to quietly sneak away from him.

But Klaus hooked a finger through one of the belt loop of Evelyn's jeans and pulled her back to him, her chest pressed against his.

"Ow," Evelyn glared at him, but Klaus was still looking straight ahead of him whilst speaking on the phone.

A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips when Evelyn mumbled curses at him as well as trying to get his attention to her.

He looked down at her hand which was placed on his chest as she moved him back while she took a step forward, continuing to do this as he raised a brow at her at what she was doing but she ignored him.

When they reached near the vinyl store, she pointed to it and he nodded in realisation, gesturing for her to go inside as he followed after her.

She smiled, her fingers running over the vinyl records, deciding which one to choose.

She looked over to Klaus who was still on the phone, and rolled her eyes when he began to threaten the unfortunate person who was on the other side line.

Taking the phone off him, she spoke, "Ignore what he said, sweetheart. He's just being moody because I didn't take him on our usual morning walks and I lost his favourite frisbee too."

Klaus glared at her, taking the phone back and continued to place the fear back onto the person.

Giving up with him, she went over to the station and placed the record on the turntable, wearing the headphones to listen to the music. Scrunching her nose, she replaced it with another vinyl and smiled, humming quietly to herself.

"You could never go wrong with Taylor Swift," she murmured.

The sound stopped, making Evelyn frown when she couldn't hear anything but only the sound of static through the headphones. "What the hell?" She tapped onto the turntable, taking the record out then back in, confused when she still couldn't hear anything.

Evelyn froze, eyes wide when the whispers returned back, confusing her ever more when she tried to figure out what it was saying.

"Grace?" She whispered. "Is that you?"

Then a scream blasted against her ears and she winced, a gasp escaping her lips as she hastily took off the headphones and stepped away with horrifying eyes.

Klaus' attention now turned to Evelyn, immediately hanging up his call and ran towards her when she almost stumbled back, but he had gathered her in his arms.

"What happened? Are you okay?" Klaus asked her multiple questions but Evelyn's attention seemed to be the fixated on the record player.

"Eve, my love," Klaus turned her to face him.

Evelyn blinked, looking at him with furrowed brows. "I– I'm fine," she hesitantly nodded. "I didn't realise i turned the volume up. It caught me off guard."

Klaus searched her eyes. He could tell she was still startled. But there was hesitation and confusion in them.

"Let's go," Evelyn told him, bringing him out of his thoughts.

"Okay," he sighed.

As they left the store, Evelyn took a brief glance over her shoulder, the paranoia consuming her when she almost felt as though she was being watched.

━━━━━━━━━━

She could feel him staring at her. Peering up from her journal, Evelyn raised a brow towards Klaus who had been sitting opposite her. "What?"

"What do you keep writing in that journal?" He asked, curious.

"A love letter to one of my many lovers," she returned back to writing inside it.

Klaus let out a sarcastic chuckle with an eye roll. "Are you jealous it's not you?" She mocked.

"I'm not. Don't flatter yourself," he remarked back.

"It would be a living nightmare to be with your fossil ass," she taunted.

"Those would consider themselves lucky," he smirked back as he took a sip of his drink.

"I feel bad the poor soul who has or had to deal with you," she smiled back with sarcasm.

"Sounds like to me you're the jealous one," he teased.

"Has anyone ever told you how much of an arrogant narcissist you are?"

"Never. I'm usually given compliments," he shrugged.

"Did you compel them to tell you that?" She chuckled.

Neither realised Stefan was listening to their conversation. His head moving left to right, looking confused.

Are they flirting? When was this?

Klaus left to order another round of drinks, leaving Evelyn and Stefan alone.

"What?" Evelyn asked Stefan.

"What was all that about?"

"What was what?"

"You and Klaus," Stefan said.

Evelyn laughed, "Ew. No. Him? Never. I just like to annoy him."

Stefan slowly nodded, looking back at Klaus who was at the bar then back to Evelyn, returning back to his thoughts. He was still suspicious.

"Hey, I have a question," Evelyn spoke a few minutes later.

"Yeah?" Stefan asked.

"Have you ever had those dreams where you just forget them as soon as you wake up?"

Stefan thought for a moment, "Yeah it does happen."

"I've been trying to remember my dreams," she murmured. "All of a sudden they've just disappeared and I can't remember his voice or how he looks. The eyes–" She whispered herself.

"Who?" Stefan asked.

"My–" From the corner of her eye she noticed Klaus returning back. "I'll tell you when we're alone," she whispered to Stefan.

Klaus looked down at her journal, catching a glimpse of it before she quickly shut it.

Mysterious Man

Evelyn composed herself, staring at Klaus and he caught her gaze for a brief second before she turned away.

━━━━━━━━━━

"Where's Nik going?" Evelyn whispered to Stefan.

"I don't know but he's in a mood again," he shrugged.

"Nik," Evelyn ran after him, but he quickly left, ignoring her. "Okay, bye," she muttered to herself.

"Eve, just leave him alone," Stefan spoke softly. "Don't waste your time on him."

"Okay," she sighed, and hooked her arm around Stefan's as he led them back to their suite.

It began to get frustrating each day when they weren't able to locate the wolf. More for Klaus than Evelyn and Stefan.

Evelyn hated seeing Klaus like this. She did her best to cheer him up but he would remain his distance away from her whenever he was angry and needed to vent.

So instead, she would patiently wait for him to cool down, and then the rest would turn back to normal for them.

With Klaus gone to do whatever he was doing. Stefan and Evelyn enjoyed an afternoon of spending time with each other. Although, a part of Evelyn was worried for Klaus when he still hadn't returned back.

Sitting on her bed, she laid across all her polaroids she had taken over the past couple of weeks to stick them inside a book and write down what had happened on the particular day.

Yet, her attention seemed to be fixed on the phone next to her waiting for Klaus to answer her call back.

"Why am I so worried? Stop it, Eve," she scolded herself. "He's none of your concern."

Niko perched himself on Evelyn's lap as she pat him on his head, the bunny in return snuggling further under her touch as she picked up one of the polaroid's which caught her eye specifically.

It was of Klaus. She had managed to take it when he wasn't looking at her. He was sat by the fireplace, drawing in his sketchbook. A strand of his curl hung down on his forehead, his eyes fixated intently on the book and a small smile pulled at the corner of his lip.

Evelyn wondered what was inside that sketchbook, but Klaus kept it to himself. Never allowing Evelyn to look at it.

"He's so annoyingly beautiful," she murmured at the photo she was staring at.

Grabbing the pen, she wrote down on the space at the bottom, captioning it grumpy puppy.

Evelyn then stared down at her phone, picking it up and scrolled through the contact list, stopping at a particular one and debating with herself. She eventually pressed it against her ear.

"EJ." She bit her lip to hold back in the tears as soon as she listened to Jeremy's voicemail.

"I miss you and I understand you did it to protect us but i'm worried for you. I'm terrified actually. We all are. I don't know if you're safe and if Klaus is hurting you. Please tell us where you are. I just want you back home–" Jeremy sighed.

"Yeah or else you're never getting back your Marvel comics that I stole from your room," Kenji chimed into the conversation.

"Did you actually?" She could hear Jeremy whisper.

"No. She'd kill me," Kenji whispered back. "Remember what happened last time to us?"

Evelyn laughed, forcing the tears to not fall out. She didn't allow herself to.

"I'm thinking of selling them too so get your ass back to Mystic Falls and I won't do it," Kenji warned her.

"We'll do it this time. We love you, EJ," Jeremy said and the voicemail ended.

"I love you both too," she whispered, warning herself to not call either of them no matter how much she wanted to.

Hearing a knock on her door, she straightened herself up and walked over to it, opening it. "Oh, hey," Evelyn sighed when it was Stefan.

"Everything okay?" He asked.

Evelyn looked at Stefan, her eyes slightly watering. "I miss home," she mumbled with a shrug.

With a deep sigh, Stefan pulled her into a hug as she rested her head on his shoulder. No words were exchanged. But it was enough for both of them to know they had each other.

"How about we go downstairs and raid the kitchen again?" Stefan asked.

"They better have chocolate fudge cake left," Evelyn mumbled against his chest.

━━━━━━━━━━

She let out a small yawn, covering a hand over her mouth as she made her way towards the kitchen, stopping when she had noticed a silhouette standing outside the balcony.

A relieved smile formed on her face when she realised it was Klaus who finally returned back.

"You're back. I was beginning to think you ditched us and left," she walked over to him.

Klaus didn't utter a word, his back facing to her as he silently stared ahead of him, a stoic expression written all over his face.

Evelyn took a cautious step towards him, placing a hand on his back as she gently rubbed it to ease the tension. "Look at me, Nik," she demanded softly.

He took a deep breath, relaxing against her touch and feeling a sense of comfort by just a simple mere gesture. Slowly turning around he was met by that warm smile that could light up a whole room.

"Hi," she whispered. He gave her a small smile back. "You're smiling. Sort of. Yay."

"I'm sorry for making you wait," he spoke softly.

"It's fine. Would you like to talk about it?" She asked.

"Not today," he spoke quietly. She nodded in understanding.

"Do you want to know what Niko did to Stefan? Just to get your mind off at what you're feeling?" She asked, slight excitement evident on her face.

He nodded, listening attentively as she began rambling, gesturing movements with her hands and laughing. Those minutes turned to hours with Klaus just listening to Evelyn, every now and then speaking himself, but hearing her voice was enough to keep him calm.

It was then Klaus had noticed Evelyn feeling a sudden discomfort as her smile then faltered, "What's wrong?"

"I need to tell you this," she said and he nodded for her to continue.

"That night when I fainted. When I hurt you–"

"We spoke about this. It's not your fault. Don't feel guilty about it," he reassured her.

"I know. It's just that when I felt your pain that wasn't all I felt," she revealed.

He looked at her warily, "What was it?"

"You carry a lot of rage," she cautiously spoke.

"And?" Evelyn was hesitating. "Eve?"

"Loneliness. That's what I felt the most." She met his eyes. "For a 1000 years you've been feeling alone?"

Klaus tensed, looking away from her. He was quiet for a moment. He felt embarrassed that Evelyn knew this whole time. She was used to seeing someone else, and now she felt a different side to him.

"I'm sorry for asking," Evelyn whispered, ready to walk away from him.

"I hate being alone, love," his voice stopped her.

And for a moment Evelyn could sense the vulnerability when he uttered those words. So genuine and honest. Turning back to face Klaus, Evelyn could see his eyes slightly glossed, but he held it back in. She knew there was more to what he'd shown. She wanted to understand him. Who the real Klaus Mikaelson was.Β

Evil was a choice. No one was born with it.

"Do you want to know my secret?" Evelyn asked. Klaus furrowed his brows when she took a step towards him.

"I hate being alone too."Β

Klaus' gaze met hers, a smile that was heartbreaking enough for him to tell that Evelyn was not who everyone perceived her as to be. She too had layers beneath her. Just as complicated as he was.

Instead, she chose the path of goodness to fill in that void, helping everyone and bringing joy to their faces. But, he chose to be ruthless and place his control and fear in others.

Evelyn then built up the courage and moved slightly closer, gently resting her forehead against his jaw, and allowing herself to feel for a moment with him. Klaus closed his eyes as he savored in every second of this small gesture of intimacy they shared.

Both were broken in different ways, yet they shared one thing common.

Loneliness was their only dependable friend.

I've recently started watching Outerbanks and I might do a JJ or Pope fic. Who's your favourite character?

I honestly don't know when i'm going to start s3, probably 5 chapters left? But I've mentioned this before, I would like to write my own ideas/plot more rather than mainly focusing on the show's storyline. If you guys don't like it then i'm warning you now that majority of this book will be my own plot.Β

I hope you all have/had a great day.
Love you <3
