Β Β The hall was straight with windows on each side, showing nothing but darkness. The rain was tapping against the glass surface. It held an uncanny echo. Danger. Power. Fear.
His footsteps echoed in the empty hallway as he opened the door to the cold room, and skidded to a halt, a look of shock written all over his face and the two words he breathed out were enough to catch all of their attention.
"She's alive."
Two eyes opened up in the darkness, two dark and twisted eyes stared at him, matching his and the countless of others surrounding in the room.
"It was a dreamβ aβ a vision. She's alive," he explained his confusion.
She shook her head, finding it impossible to believe. "No. It can't be. They've been dead for a long time. We even searched everywhere."
"They kept her hidden." Another voice spoke.
"She's finally here," he said. "If you don't believe me then look into my mind." He stepped forward. She eyed him carefully and held his hand into hers.
She gasped when a beautiful brunette woman flashed through her eyes. Glowing purple irises with flecks of gold that held power. An immense amount one could feel by just this image.
The woman blinked, letting go of the man. Eyes turned to her, curious to know if what she saw was true.
"It's finally time," she announced.
A twisted grin stretched on their lips, glancing to one another, whispering.
Looking towards the wall, a painting. They bowed down to it, swearing their loyalty to their only hope that promised a better future for them.

1999
Tracing the tip of her feet on the marble floor out of boredom, Evelyn's eyes moved towards the principal's office when Grayson and Miranda stepped out, disappointment written on their faces.
The 8 year old casted her eyes down back to the ground, her hands forming into a fist that were resting on her lap.
Miranda sat beside her and Grayson crouched down in front of her. "I want to hear your side of the story," Grayson spoke in a soft tone to their daughter.
"He's always bullying Jemmie so I hit him," Evelyn mumbled.
"Eve, baby," Miranda sighed.
"He hurt my brother. No one is allowed to," Evelyn scowled. "He was alone and they were laughing at him so I hit the stupid boy. I was protecting Jemmie."
Her parents eyes widened at the sudden outburst. Evelyn was never one to be angry, let alone resort to violence.
Grayson tilted her chin up. "What's really going on?"
Evelyn huffed and removed his hand away. "I'm fine." She crossed her arms over her chest, an angry pout fixed on her lips.
"Eve, what's with the attitude? What's bothering you?" Miranda asked.
"Iβ I don't know why I'm angry. I hate it," she hissed. "I don't want to be angry, and I was just very mad so I hit him."
Glancing down at her hands that were tightening into a fist, a slight glow appeared and Grayson immediately grabbed her hand before Evelyn could see, unclenching it and rubbed circles on the back of it.
"It's okay," Miranda whispered. "We talked about this. Deep breaths." Evelyn inhaled and exhaled as Miranda's soothing voice helped her.
"Better?"
"Yes," Evelyn murmured, a frown still playing on her lips.
"If anyone is bullying you or your siblings, you tell us or the teachers. No fighting," Miranda said sternly.
"But daddy said I should pull their hair or put them in a headlock if they do," Evelyn pouted, eyes widening when she realised what she said. "Oopsies." She threw a hand over her mouth.
Grayson's eyes averted away from Miranda's glare. "I did not say that."
"Yes you did," Evelyn frowned. "You even taught us how to do a headlock, like this." She wrapped her small arm around Grayson's neck and demonstrated what he had taught her.
"Oh my God," Miranda muttered.
"Did I do it right?" Evelyn asked innocently when she let go of him.
Grayson cleared his throat. "Yes," he muttered under his breath.
"Grayson!" Miranda scolded him.
"Self defence." He raised his hands up in surrender.
"I heard you gave him a good beating," he whispered to Evelyn who nodded happily, discreetly fist bumping each other as he sent his daughter a wink.
"Oh." Evelyn's face lit up. "I also have a secret to tell you." She motioned for them to move closer to her. She glanced around the empty hall, checking to see if anyone walked past by and proceeded to whisper.
"I also kicked him in his private part and then he pulled my hair so I pulled his hair. Then I told Jemmie to punch him too and Lena was guarding the bathroom door so no one knew we were fighting but I took all of the blame because I didn't want them to get in trouble," she giggled sheepishly.
Grayson held a proud smile on his face whilst Miranda shook her head, murmuring under her breath.
"I did a good thing, right?" She asked, batting her lashes. "I was only protecting them."
"Uhβ" Grayson began when Miranda raised an eyebrow, daring him. "You did a good thing to protect them but you shouldn't fight with anyone."
"Urgh okay." She dramatically rolled her eyes. "He deserved it though," she mumbled.
"Alright." Miranda stood up. "You've been suspended for a week, let's go home now."
Evelyn furrowed her brows. "But I didn't bully anyone. I taught him a lesson. He should be suspended!" She raised her voice and Grayson immediately consoled her raging temper.
"Are you hungry?" He asked, changing the subject and Evelyn smiled widely, nodding frantically.
"Yes! Very hungry." She rubbed her stomach.
"Let's go eat first. Wherever you want to go." He lifted her up in his arms.
"Can Lena and Jemmie leave early? We can have a family day out," she beamed excitedly.
"They can't leave early," Miranda smiled softly and Evelyn pouted.
"Just make up an excuse. Umβ say that Aunt J is very ill and we have to see her immediately at the hospital or else if we don't, it will get worse," she shrugged.
"That's not a good excuse." Grayson pinched her cheek and she sighed, resting her head against his shoulder.
"Okay then. We'll buy them food because I don't want them to be left out," she said with a smile.
As her parents spoke, Evelyn gasped when the shadowy figure stared at her from a distance once again.
She hid her face in the crook of Grayson's neck, shutting her eyes tightly. Counting to 10 in her mind, she opened them and frowned when no one was standing at the end of the hall.
"Eve?" She looked back at her parents.
"Yes?"
"Where do you want to eat?" Grayson asked his daughter.
"You know where," she giggled. "Silly daddy." She nuzzled her nose against his and her parents chuckled.
Glancing back at the hallway, she shrugged her shoulders. It was nothing. It had to be.
But it wasn't.
Her imagination was a reality after all.

Evelyn tilted her head when Jeremy sat down besides her on the couch. "Couldn't sleep?"
"As always," Evelyn sighed.
"You too?" Jeremy asked when Elena came after shortly and sat on the other side next to Evelyn.
"Yup," Elena breathed out.
A couple of silent moments passed when Jeremy spoke up. "Our life sucks."
"Agreed," Elena nodded.
"Double agreed," Evelyn nodded.
She wrapped her arms around their shoulder. "But I'm so lucky to have you both even when you annoy me most of the time."
"More like you annoy us," Jeremy remarked.
Evelyn narrowed her eyes at him. "I'm giving you 3 seconds to take that back," she said in a low tone. "3... 2..."
"I'm annoying, happy?" Jeremy huffed with an eye roll.
"Very much," Evelyn laughed as she patted his cheek and he playfully swatted her hand away.
"Why are you laughing?" Jeremy threw a pillow on the back of Elena's head who had been laughing at him.
"Hey!" Elena struck the pillow back at him only to hit Evelyn instead.
"That's it." Evelyn grabbed two pillows and hit them leading to a pillow fight in their living room in the middle of the night.
"If I hear another noise, you will all deal with me!" They heard Jenna shout from her bedroom upstairs and the siblings quickly sat back down on the couch, snickering quietly.
"Sorry Aunt J!" They apologised.
"So are we just going sit here in silent?" Jeremy whispered.
"Not unless you want an angry Jenna chasing us around the house with a slipper," Evelyn whispered back.
She grabbed Jeremy's hand and began to trace patterns on his hand as Elena caressed her hair, trying to help each other fall asleep.
Soon, Evelyn yawned as she rested her head back against the couch, and Elena and Jeremy rested their heads on her shoulder, a blanket thrown over them by Jeremy.
"If you snore near my ear once more, I'm throwing you off the couch," Evelyn mumbled to Jeremy. "Same goes for you Lena."
"I don't snore," Elena rebuked.
"You sound like a pig snorting," Evelyn teased.
"Whatever." Elena cuddled against her sister's side.
She smiled when she heard nothing and slowly grabbed her phone from the coffee table, quietly taking pictures of them. Scrolling through her camera roll, she giggled mischievously and placed it back on the table.
Kissing both of them on their head, Evelyn too felt restless and closed her eyes with her siblings by her side.
And just this short moment of happiness was enough for her.
ββββββββββ
She watched as the sunlight conjured the most brilliant of mosaics, reflecting from each leaf and sky. There was an ethereal beauty to it. One that made Evelyn sigh in content especially when everything lately had been a spiral for her.
A few days had passed by and Evelyn heard nothing from Klaus. No, she wasn't worried for him, she was only concerned about the deal. Not him.
She had also been trying to figure out what she really was and nothing was of help.
Sticking by Bonnie's side to keep herself in control and so far her powers weren't revealed, unintentionally. The ring John had given to her was also doing it's part so that gave her a bit of relief.
But she was still waiting for Grace yet the woman made no approach to her again.
Listening as the birds sang, a beautiful rhythm to her ears, her eyes darted over to them at the clear sky, their wings fluttering in a synchronised dance.
"Good morning." The voice brought Evelyn out of her thoughts and looked over her shoulder to see Jenna smiling at her.
"Morning," Evelyn smiled faintly, moving back to her bed to lay down.
Jenna laid down besides her and Evelyn shifted closer, placing her head on her chest as Jenna wrapped her arms around her, rubbing her back in a soothing manner.
"It's going to be okay, Eve," Jenna reassured her.
"Nothing is ever okay in this town," Evelyn mumbled.
Jenna heaved a sigh. It was the bitter truth.
"It's Nik," Evelyn spoke after a moment of silence and Jenna raised an eyebrow, confused.
"The hottie that bought you 2 ice cream?" Jenna asked.
Evelyn shifted on her side, facing Jenna. "Nik is Kevin."
"What?!" Jenna shrieked and Evelyn nodded. "No way," she whispered.
"Mhm."
"Wait, so Kevin who is Klaus is Nik?" Jenna asked.
"Yes, his full name is Niklaus," Evelyn said. "Why couldn't he look like a pot bellied man?" She groaned and buried her face in her hands.
"Wow," Jenna whispered, still in shock.
"We also fought again. Two times actually," Evelyn informed her.
"You fought with an Original?! He could've killed you," Jenna gasped.
"I'll haunt his ass if he kills me," Evelyn scoffed.
"Not sure why he didn't kill me when we first met though. I've heard he kills people without a second thought," she mumbled.
"Alright, I'm going out," Evelyn told Jenna.
"To the studio?" Jenna asked.
"Yeah."
Remembering about the werewolf bite Tyler had given to Damon, Evelyn sat up abruptly. "Shit. I'm such a bad friend," she whispered.
"Huh?"
"I need to check on Damon first," Evelyn said. "He was bit by Tyler and I need to check if he's okay." Jenna nodded as Evelyn paced around her room to gather her things.
"Eve?" Evelyn turned around when Jenna stood in front of her.
"If you need to talk to anyone. I'm always here for you. You're not alone." Jenna cupped the side of her face and Evelyn forced a smile.
"I know," she whispered. Jenna placed a kiss on her forehead and left the room.Β
ββββββββββ
"Damon? Where are you?" Evelyn called out. "Damon?" She came to a stop when she found him.
He was standing in front of the window, twisting at the ring on his finger as she watched in horror when he pulled the ring off and let it drop to the floor. He stepped into the light and began to burn.
"Damon! No!" She screamed as she ran towards him.
Hearing Evelyn's scream, Stefan zoomed in, pushing Damon away from the sunlight and slamming him against the ground.
"Get off of me!" Damon snarled.
"You are not doing this," Stefan snapped back.
He zoomed them down the steps, and flung him into the cell, shutting and locking the door. "You're not dying today." Evelyn ran down the steps and into the basement cellar.
"What's the plan, Superman?" Damon groaned from the ground.
"I'm gonna find a way out of this," Stefan replied.
"Oh, right. A miracle cure. Good luck with that one."
"Damon don't say that. We'll find something," Evelyn whispered ever so softly but Damon couldn't even look at her. He didn't want to see the tears in her eyes.
"I got Bonnie looking for something, anything," Stefan said.
"Always the hero, Stefan. Just tell me goodbye, get it over with. You too cupcake." Damon rolled over, coughing and Evelyn grimaced as she helplessly watched him.
"Lie still," Stefan ordered. "Conserve your strength."
"Stefan?" He turned around and Evelyn's lips quivered. "He'sβ uhβ"
Stefan put his hands on Evelyn's arm. "It's going to be fine. He's not going to die. I'll find a cure," he promised her and she nodded, watching him leave.
"You don't need to be here, Eve. Leave," Damon's voice brought her back to him.
"Why?" She asked instead.
"It was the easy way," he shrugged.
"Are you stupid?!" She raised her voice at him.
Damon sighed. "A lot. I'm sorry, Eve. I love you so much."
"No! Don't say it like that. You're not going to leave me, I can't bear to lose you, I can't lose anyone else."
Damon stood up, the door and bars being the barrier between them and she wiped her tears away.
"Stefan said he will find you a cure and when he gets it, you're going to take it and i'll let you have my special ice cream, only a little bit though, a teaspoon. Understood?"
"Just a teaspoon?" He asked and Evelyn rolled her eyes, laughing.
"A tablespoon. That's all."
"It's a deal."

After spending the past couple of days, leaving a trail of bodies behind him in his wolf form and Elijah cleaning his mess, Klaus was now back in his human form.
Changing into the clothes Elijah had given him, the brothers were heading towards the Grill before Elijah could reunite with their family which Klaus had promised to him.
However, one thing was only on the Hybrid's mind.
Evelyn.
After witnessing what she had done. The amount of power she had released was something beyond ordinary magic. She was powerful. That he could tell.
Luckily for him as he was about to step inside the Grill. He found Evelyn stepping inside a dance studio that was opposite the Grill.
He began to walk away when Elijah stopped him. "Niklaus, Eve is already in pain as it is, seeing you would worsen this," he explained.
"She let's you call her, Eve?" Klaus instead asked.
Elijah shrugged, "Is there a problem?"
Klaus' eyes hardened as he removed Elijah's hand off his arm and walked away while Elijah sighed, watching his brother leave.
And Elijah secretly hoped Evelyn taught Klaus another lesson.

Soft music played, filling the room as Evelyn flowed and bent to the music as if she were an actual part of the piece. Her movements were a dazzling grace. Evelyn embraced the music and in turn the music took control of her. She found herself in a different world. A world filled with emptiness. On the outside it would seem she had everything but no one knew the loneliness she felt inside.
As though something was missing in her life and she needed it to complete her puzzle.
She could feel her soul become one with the music and unleashed her emotions into her dance. With each stride she made, it became more obvious how much heart and effort she put into her routine.
Hearing music from one room, Klaus followed it and found Evelyn. He leaned against the doorway and watched her move to the music. He observed her dip her body and limbs into different positions with ease. Like a flower blossoming. She was bewitching.
As he watched in awe, he failed to notice the tears that were silently rolling down her cheek. A pain hidden all too well by her.
The music stopped and Evelyn wiped her tears away, walking back to the bench and taking off her pointe shoes. She felt a presence behind and immediately knew who it was exactly.
"You like to stalk me now?" She asked as she shoved her shoes in the bag. "Or did you decide to retire from being an egotistical hybrid to become a ballerina?"
"I was just passing by and found you here," Klaus spoke up.
"And yet you still made the choice to stalk me," she retorted and he chuckled.
"There's nothing funny about it." She whirled around and he cleared his throat.
She rolled her eyes, turning away from him and struggled to tie her shoelaces. "Stupid laces," she groaned in frustration.
Klaus noticed and held back an amused smile. "Allow me."
"No." She put a hand up to stop him. "I'm perfectly capable of doing it myself."
After watching her struggle for a few minutes, Evelyn sighed in defeat and stood up straight. "I give up," she muttered.
"You didn't even tie them," he said.
"I don't need to," she scoffed.
"You're going to fall," he pointed out.
"No I won't."
She walked past him only to stumble on her feet, a shriek escaping her lips, ready to hit the floor but Klaus caught her before she could fall. "What did I tell you? You're so clumsy."
"I'm not clumsy." She removed herself away from his embrace.
"Clearly capable of doing it yourself huh?" He humoured. "Sit down." He motioned to the bench behind her.
"No." Evelyn began to walk away from him and Klaus held her by the waist. "Hey! How dare you touch me pervert." She swatted his hand away but he ignored her.
"I said sit," he ordered.
"I said I don't need you to do it," Evelyn protested when he made her sit down on the bench.
"You nearly fell just a few seconds ago and could've hurt yourself," he retorted back.
"That's not your problem if I do," Evelyn muttered.
Klaus then kneeled down in front of her to tie up her laces.
"Stop it!" Evelyn wiggled her legs when he attempted to. "I told you I don'tβ"
"Stop that!" Klaus sternly spoke when he gripped a firm hold on her legs and placed them back in front of him. "Let me do it." He looked up at her when she stubbornly crossed her arms over her chest and remained silent.
Taking it as a yes, he smirked and proceeded to tie her laces. "Who does them for you then?" He asked, striking a conversation and Evelyn huffed.
"I'm not talking to you."
"You just did so you can answer the question now," he said with a smug smile and Evelyn cursed herself. "Well?"
Defeated, she answered him. "My brother," she murmured.
"Done." He stood back up with a smile. "A thank you would be nice," he said.
"Stop being an asshole would be nice," she mimicked him.
"We'll be leaving tonight," he informed her.
"Okay," she nodded. "I want to spend the day with my family then or can I not do that."
"That's fine," he nodded. The least he could do is let her spend her last day with her family.
She walked away and headed towards her car. "You have got to stop following me like a puppy. I am not your owner!"
"Love," Klaus called out.
"Incorrect," she scoffed.
"Eve."
"Incorrect." She continued to walk as Klaus followed her.
"Evelyn," he rolled his eyes.
Evelyn stopped in her tracks and took a deep breath for a moment. She didn't have the energy to talk to him anymore. "Yeah I still can't be asked."
"But I called you Evelyn," he frowned.
"I don't care," she snapped. In a blur, Klaus stood in front of her, blocking her path.
Now he noticed how pale she looked, dark circles under her eyes, a bit of redness around them.
"What?" She asked tiredly.
"How are you feeling?" He asked and her eyes turned into a harsh glare.
"Are you seriously asking me that?! Did your parents drop you on the floor when you were a baby?" She remarked sarcastically.
"I just want to know after what happened with you," he spoke softly.
"Why? So you could use my powers for your own benefit," she sneered. "Deep breaths, Eve," she mumbled to herself. "Deep breaths."
"I would never do that to you," Klaus rebuked.
"Fine. Since you really want to know how I'm feeling. My whole life has been a lie. I'm a complete different person, I have powers that I didn't even know about, my hands glow at odd times. I see things that I shouldn't be seeing," she ranted as he patiently listened to her.
"And I'm so frickin hungry. I have a whole load of homework to catchup on. You know how depressing that is?"
"Iβ"
"I haven't finished yet," she cut him off.
"I'm sorry. Carry on," he nodded.
"And most of all you came into my life." She poked his chest. "You make me so angry and I hate being angry. Why is that you know how to push my buttons?"
"Love," he whispered and she pressed her lips tightly.
"For fuck's sake, Kevin. My name is Evelyn. Do I need to spell it out for you?" She pinched the bridge of her nose.
"Do I need to spell my name to you? I told you to call me Nik," Klaus scowled.
"I don't want to. Legally change it to Kevin." She rested her hands on her hips and he rolled his eyes.
"And why the hell do you care how I feel. It's not your problem." She tried to move away but he gently grabbed her arm, making her face him now chest to chest.
"Kevinβ" She struggled to escape his hold.
"Enough with that name," Klaus gritted.
"Okay," Evelyn said. "Puppy," she added with a smug smile.
Klaus refused to let go of her and she sighed. "Nik, let go of me," she whispered but his attention seemed to be on the way she said his name and he loved it more than anything.
"Don't make me bring out my vervain spray. I'll use the wolfsbane spray too," she threatened lowly.
She gasped when his body towered over hers, a smirk playing on his lips, their faces close to each other. "I'll be seeing you soon." His knuckles brushed against her cheek and she used all her strength to not crave for his touch.
"Sadly," she scoffed. "And step away from me before I beat your ass. I won't apologise for it this time."
Klaus moved back and Evelyn fumbled for her car keys. She groaned when she tried to open the door. "Why does the world love to torture me?"
"Allow me," Klaus chuckled and reached out.
"No." Evelyn pushed him back.
"You are the most infuriating person i've ever met," he muttered.
That was enough for Evelyn to angrily yank the door open and hit it on his dick. Again.
"Not again," Klaus groaned, stepping away from her and she ignored his dramatic whining, stepping inside the car and drove off.
Klaus now definitely lost count of how many times he said ouch.
"I deserve an apology!"
Watching her drive away, he noticed her hand sticking out of her window, her middle finger directly pointing towards him.
"Crazy woman," he muttered.
Evelyn wasn't scared of him or the fact that he was a dangerous supernatural creature. No. She was scared of how he made her feel, and it would mess with her mind.
"No this is wrong, Eve. He is a bad man stop thinking like that," she scolded herself.
"I should've apologised." She now felt guilty. "Snap out of it, Eve!"
ββββββββββ
"Stupid, annoying, old, fart, fossil," Evelyn continued to curse Klaus throughout her whole drive to her home.
Closing the door of her front door, Evelyn rested her head against it. "Who's a fossil?" The sound of Kenji's voice startled her.
"Kenji!" Evelyn exclaimed, her eyes drifting towards the kitchen where he was eating a box of lucky charms, specifically the marshmallows.
"Why do you look angry?" Kenji asked. "Who pissed you off?"
"I'm fine," she dismissed it.
"Okay," Kenji nodded. "Well I have a surprise for you," he smiled at her.
"What is it?"
Kenji whistled, beckoning the little fluffy animal and Evelyn squealed. "Loki! My mischievous baby!"
The cat happily made his way over to Evelyn and she picked him up in her arms, cradling and stroking his soft, silky fur and continuously pressed kisses on top of his head. "I missed you," she murmured in a soft tone.
Loki's round eyes looked up at her and she smiled, placing a kiss to his nose, and he nuzzled his head under her chin, quietly purring then resting himself in her comfort.
"I'll keep asking. Can I keep him?" Evelyn asked Kenji.
"No," Kenji scoffed with a laugh.
Jeremy made his way downstairs and Loki immediately jumped out of Evelyn's arms and ran towards him. "Hey buddy," Jeremy smiled, picking him up.
"Well he clearly has his favourites," Evelyn muttered with a frown. Jeremy's eyes met his sisters and gave her smug smile.
"You're my favourite EJ," Kenji said and Evelyn wrapped her arm around him.
"Wow so much for being your best friend before her," Jeremy mumbled to Kenji who laughed at him.
"Are you still giving your mom the silent treatment ?" Evelyn asked Kenji.
"She's making it up for hiding it from me so I guess we're okay. Oh that reminds me. She made you sushi," Kenji said, taking a container out of his bag and gave it to her.
"Thank you," Evelyn beamed.
Elena entered the room, as she gave Loki's head a tickle who had still been nestled under Jeremy's arm. "We're all going out," she said.
"I don't want to go out," Jeremy complained.
"Jer, we're going," Kenji said.
"Fine." Jeremy gave Loki back to him and ran back upstairs.
Evelyn hid the sly smile as she stuffed a sushi in her mouth.
"Where are you all off to?" Jenna entered the kitchen.
"Outdoor cinema. You coming?" Evelyn asked and Jenna shook her head.
"I'm going out with Ric," she said and they glanced at each other with a cheeky smile.
"Are you going to mark history papers together? How romantic," Kenji teased.
"Cheeky." Jenna shook her head with a blush.
Evelyn used the back of her hand, imitating a kiss. "You're so sweet Ric," she mocked her aunt.
"I love you Jenna," Kenji joined in with her antics. The two hugging each other and pretending to share a kiss.
"I hate you both." Jenna lightly smacked them both on the back of their heads.
Evelyn ducked under her arm, stepping away from her. "Make sure to use protection or maybe not. I would love to have a baby brother or sister."
ββββββββββ
"You brought me here to see a girl movie," Jeremy grumbled in disbelief while walking around to find a empty spot to sit.
"Are you always on your man period?" Evelyn asked and he rolled his eyes.
"We had to get out of the house, Jer. This is our 3 hour distraction from reality," Elena shrugged.
"Is that what we're doing? Pretending our lives aren't screwed?" Jeremy scoffed.
"Hey! Your life can't be that screwed if you have me." Kenji pointed out, giving him a fake hurt look, a hand over his heart.
"True," Jeremy mumbled.
"We need to do this okay? Breathe, eat, sleep, wake up and do it all over again until one day it's just not as hard anymore," Elena sighed as they laid down the blankets on the floor.
"Hey! There you guys are." Caroline and Bonnie walked over to them with a basket.
"My girls!" Kenji beamed with a wide smile and pulled them both in the tightest hug ever.
Caroline laughed then settled down. "Who's hungry?"
"Is that even a question to ask. I'm starving!" Evelyn exclaimed and immediately dug inside the baskets.
"Are we really doing this?" Jeremy asked.
"Yes and stop being a killjoy." Evelyn said. "Bon, did you getβ"
"I got ice cream too." Bonnie smiled and Evelyn beamed with a wide smile of her own.
"This is why I love you so much. My soulmate." Evelyn kissed her cheek.
"I know," Bonnie winked.
"I'm going home." Jeremy started to get up.
"Sit back down," Evelyn ordered. "Don't test me." Jeremy grumbled words under his breath and sat down.
"Look I know you guys went through hell and my mom knows I am a vampire, so basically it's like Atlanta has burned," Caroline said. "And yet in spite of everything, we persevere."
"That's the spirit." Evelyn high fived Caroline then looked back at her brother with a raised brow.
"All right," Jeremy sighed. "What are we eating?"
Evelyn smiled as she happily ate and Jeremy tried to take it off her but she slapped his hands away. "I may love you but get your own. Caroline made these cookies just for me." She glared and they laughed, enjoying this rare moment.
"Don't even touch the ice cream."
"Then what can I eat?" He frowned.
"Have the carrots." She gestured to them.
"No."
"Here." Kenji shoved a cookie in his mouth.
ββββββββββ
"We've looked around here. Damon's not here," Kenji told Evelyn after they all had split up to search for Damon who had left the cellar and was out of control.
Kenji sighed, ending the call and walked back into the Grill. "Jer, your sister saidβ" The sight in front of him made him freeze and felt his breathing grow heavy.
Sheriff Forbes was standing, a gun in a hand and Jeremy was laying on the ground with a bullet on his chest.
"Jeremy!" Kenji cried out, running towards him and knelt down on the ground. "Why?" Kenji looked back up at Liz who was in shock herself.
"Fuck! No." He took off his hoodie and with trembling hands pressed the material on his chest but the blood was seeping through it and staining his hand.
"You can't leave me," Kenji whimpered. "No." Heavy tears streamed down his face as he held Jeremy in his arms.
Caroline and Bonnie walked in, gasping at the sight. "Mom, what did you do?!"
"I was aiming for Damon," Liz said, panic rising in her.
"Caroline feed him your blood, please," Kenji pleaded.
Caroline bit on her wrist, feeding Jeremy the blood but it didn't work. She looked at Kenji with a dejected look but he shook his head, not wanting to believe it. "No, he can't be. He can't leave me. Jeremy wake up please!"
"Call my mom," Kenji sobbed. "This can't be happening."
Evelyn walked along with Jenna and Alaric. "Hey, what's going on?" Kenji looked at her but he had tears in his eyes, unable to speak.
She looked down to see Jeremy. "Jemmie," she whispered with tears in her eyes too. "No. Not him too," she panicked as she knelt down on the ground too.
"Iβ I know what I need to do. I need you to grab him. Take him with us," Bonnie told Alaric.
"No. You can't move him. This is a crime scene," Liz argued.
"Mom, you let them go," Caroline spoke sternly.
"Eve, come on," Jenna whispered. Alaric lifted Jeremy up in his arms, leaving the Grill
"Come on, Kenji," Bonnie helped Kenji stand up, who had been too shocked and afraid as he stared down at Jeremy's blood on his hand.
"I'm taking home," Caroline told them.
"No," Kenji shook his head.
"It's okay. Bonnie's got this. He's going to be okay."
"How?! I justβ his bloodβ I shouldn't have left him alone." Caroline held him. "I can't lose him."
ββββββββββ
"Is this even possible?" Alaric asked as he set Jeremy down. A sobbing Evelyn was holding onto Jenna's hand tightly.
"There's a spell for it if they'll give me the power to use it."
Bonnie began chanting while Alaric, Jenna and Evelyn watched the candles ignite around them but to her failure nothing worked.
"What's wrong?" Jenna asked, wiping her tears away.
"They're angry at me for coming back here. They don't wanna help," Bonnie said.
"Well they have to," Jenna argued.
"They said they'll be consequences."
"Well he's just a kid, tell em to shut up!" Alaric shouted.
Evelyn glanced around, feeling a chill down her spine, a whisper speaking to her. The need to do it. She needed to save her brother. "Iβ I can help. I can bring him back."
They looked unsure. "Just let me do it," Evelyn said and Bonnie hesitantly nodded.
Evelyn sat opposite Bonnie and briefly looked down at her brother. "Hold my hand and repeat the words with me," Bonnie instructed.
"Victus Phasmatis Ex Eleto. Revertas Phasmatis Ut Victus. Victus Phasmatis Ex Eleto. Revertas Phasmatis Ut Victus."
Evelyn and Bonnie chanted the words and the room began to violently shake.
Evelyn could hear voices in her head, telling her to stop but she refused to. "Please help me," she begged as droplets of blood ran down from her nose. "I can't lose him."
She tried her hardest to keep going until a glow formed around her palms and was directly placed on top of Jeremy's chest. She stopped chanting and Bonnie looked at her in concern. Evelyn opened her eyes and they were a shade of bright purple, her powers took control and allowed the energy course through his body.
Jeremy gasped, eyes wild as he jolted up, a range of emotions rushing through him. He glanced around in confusion then turned to his sister who was sat still. "EJ."
"Eve." Jenna rushed to her side, shaking her slightly but Evelyn still didn't respond.
"Evelyn!" She blinked and her eyes returned back to it's original colour.
Her chest heaved up and down as she took a glance around her. She was still in the witches house, confusion still dancing around in her mind.
"EJ?" Jeremy's voice made her look at him.
"Jeremy?" She pulled him in a tight hug. "You're okay. You're okay." She repeatedly whispered to him as she stroked his hair
"I'm here," Jeremy smiled and wiped away Evelyn's tears.
"It worked," Evelyn sighed with relief. "We did it, Bon."
"Here." Bonnie handed Evelyn a tissue. "Your bleeding from your nose after you did the spell."
"What?" Her fingers touched her nose. "Gross," she grimaced at the blood and wiped it with the tissue.
"Hey, Bon Bon?"
"What?"
"We could be the nose bleed besties now." She lightened up the tension in the room.
"Not funny," Bonnie grumbled.
"Eve, you spaced out," Alaric spoke up his concern.
"Oh," Evelyn bit her lip nervously.
"Yes, how did you do manage to bring Jer back?" Bonnie asked. "The spirits wouldn't let me."
"I don't know," she shrugged. "I don't remember what I was doing. Like I blacked out again?"
"What the hell," Jenna whispered.
"You're different, more powerful than a witch."
"I hate this," Evelyn mumbled with a frown.
"We'll find out together. Just like how you were there with me. Okay?" Evelyn forced a nod.
"Can we still be the nose bleed besties?" She asked.Β
ββββββββββ
Jeremy walked out of the witch house with his sister when a body collided with his. It was Kenji, hugging him tightly.
"You're okay. I was so scared. I thought I lost you. I shouldn't have left you alone. I'm so sorry," Kenji rambled when they pulled away.
"I'm fine, Kenji. Don't blame yourself for it," Jeremy reassured him. "And I'm not leaving anytime soon. I can't leave you alone in this horrible place." They shared a smile.
"Sorry to break this moment but you need to go home with Alaric and Jenna," Evelyn interrupted them.
"What? Why?" Kenji asked.
"We're still finding Damon. I can't risk you two getting hurt," Evelyn said.
Jeremy began to speak, but Evelyn cut him off. "Nope. Go home," she sternly ordered.
Kenji tugged on Jeremy's elbow. "Come on, Jer." Jeremy looked at him. Kenji's eyes were still red and slightly puffy so he nodded and took him away.
Evelyn watched as they left then ran towards Caroline's car as she drove them to the park to search for him.
She immediately found Damon biting into Elena's neck. "Damon!" Eye's widening, she ran towards them, pushing him off her. Evelyn knelt down besides him on the ground, while Elena had her hand on her bitten neck, whimpering in pain.
Evelyn looked back Elena, her eyes directly moving to her sister's neck. "It's okay," Elena reassured her and she hesitantly nodded back.
"Damon, if you shut your eyes I will slap the shit out of you," Evelyn scolded him.
"Eve," he said groggily and she nodded.
"That's right. It's me. Your only best friend," she said, trying to lighten up the mood.
ββββββββββ
Now at the Salvatore Boarding House, Damon was laying on his bed, sweating. Evelyn stood beside him with a towel when Elena went to grab a bowl of water and more towels.
She had sensed something was wrong with Elena when she had entered the room earlier to find her and Damon close to each other but didn't put much thought to it. She would have to ask Elena later what was wrong until then her priority now was to take care of Damon and wait for Stefan to come back with a cure.
"Eve, get out of here. I could hurt you," Damon said with a weak tone.
"No. You won't. I'm not leaving you," Evelyn reassured him.
"Get out of here!" Damon raised his voice and then started to cough. She sat down, taking him in her arms.
"Hey, hey. Hang on. Shh. It's okay," Evelyn soothed softly.
"It's not okay. All those years, I've blamed Stefan. No one forced me to love her. It was my own choice," Damon breathlessly spoke.
"Shh."
"I made the wrong choice. You tell Stefan I'm sorry. Okay?"
"You can tell him yourself. I'm not giving up on you," she told him.
ββββββββββ
"You should have met me in 1864. You would have liked me," Damon murmured against her temple and Evelyn raised her head to look at him.
"I doubt that," Evelyn teased. "You're too annoying and a douchebag." They both laughed.
"And sexy. Let's not forget that," he added.
"I'll only say yes to this for now." She rolled her eyes.
"Thank you," he whispered.
"For what?"
"You are the first and only person to see the real me through my bad boy act and despite everything I did you still became my friend," he said.
"I don't deserve you, Eve, but i'm so lucky to have met you," he murmured tiredly.
"Stop saying it like you're going to die," she told him. "Stefan is going to come back."
"But I still want to just in case." Evelyn wiped his tears away.
"Be quiet."
"I love you, Eve," he murmured with a small smile.
"I love you too." She kissed the top of his head and placed her cheek against it.
"Let's have sex. My last wish," he joked.
"You just had to kill the moment." She rolled her eyes. He let out a low laugh and Evelyn smiled.
"Well isn't this lovely?" Katherine spoke from behind and Evelyn glanced over her shoulder to find the vampire, smirking.
"Kitty Kat?" Katherine rolled her eyes, ignoring the nickname.
"I brought the cure." She showed her a vial filled with blood and walked over to them as she fed Damon, Klaus' blood.
Damon fell asleep immediately and Katherine turned to face Evelyn. "Thank you." She stumbled back a little when Evelyn embraced her in a hug, a genuine smile slowly formed on Katherine's face.
"Okay," Katherine drawled out. "This is getting weird. That's enough." She awkwardly patted her back.
"Oh okay," Evelyn smiled. "Where's Stefan?" She asked.
Katherine sighed, "He's paying for this." She held up the vial. "He gave himself over to Klaus."
"He made a deal with him?" Evelyn asked in surprise and Katherine nodded.
"He's also waiting for you," she said and Evelyn frowned. She only hoped this day never ended.
"Eve, whether you want to believe it or not. Klaus would never harm you," Katherine told her softly and walked off.
Evelyn stayed rooted in her place processing Katherine's words. It still made her wonder why he was so different towards her only.
She stood besides Damon's bed, pushing back his hair away from his face. "By the time you wake up, i'll be gone but I hope you don't do anything reckless when I leave. I love you, Damon." She kissed him on the cheek.
ββββββββββ
Evelyn glanced down at her phone, checking the time as she counted how long she had left before she went with Klaus.
"It's been quite the day," Bonnie breathed out with a laugh as she sat down beside Evelyn on the stairs of the porch.
"Just like every other day," Evelyn sighed.
"Are you feeling better?" Bonnie asked.
"With you by my side. Always," she smiled.
"I'll always be here for you, Eve."
"I know."
Bonnie took Evelyn's hand in hers, intertwining it and gave it a gentle squeeze. Evelyn's eyes met hers, and she scooted closer to her. She stroked her thumb against Bonnie's cheek, letting her kiss the palm of it, a shy smile playing on her lips as she looked back at Evelyn.
Evelyn brought her face towards her with Bonnie meeting halfway, as her lips brushed against Evelyn's she kissed her ever so gently and took their time savouring this moment.
Finally forcing themselves to pull away, they rested their foreheads against each other. "I just wanted to do that," Evelyn began to explain.
"It's okay. So did I," Bonnie reassured her.
Evelyn bit on her lower lip, resisting the urge to tell her that she wanted to kiss her because it would be the last time she would see her and she wasn't sure when she would return back.
Bonnie lifted her head to kiss her on the temple one last time as Evelyn let out a quiet laugh.
"Awww. I just love, love," Kenji startled them as he leaned against the doorway with Loki in his arm.
"Kenji!" Bonnie scolded. "You and Caroline," she muttered.
"But you know what I hate? Being single," Kenji complained.
"I'm sure you'll find someone soon," Evelyn smiled at him and Kenji noticed the teasing glint in her eyes, refusing to acknowledge the meaning behind it.
"Come on, Bon. You need to take me home," Kenji said.
"Bye," Evelyn hugged them both, lingering it for a while. "Bye, Loki." Evelyn gave the cat a kiss on top of his head.
Kenji walked away, an arm wrapped around Bonnie as he glanced over his shoulder, sending Evelyn a cheeky smile. "And don't you worry, EJ, Bonnie will be dreaming of you tonight. Every night."
ββββββββββ
Evelyn knocked on Jeremy's door. "You feeling better now?"
"I feel great," he smiled, patting the spot next to him and she sat down. "I'll keep saying it but thank you."
"Don't be silly. You're my baby brother, I would do anything to keep you safe," she told him.
"So would I, and no matter what you are, you will always be my sister. We're in this together till the end."
She nodded but leaving him was hurting her so much and would break Jeremy's heart. She hated doing this to him.
"I love you, Jer," her voice cracked slightly.
"I love you too, EJ." He bumped his forehead against hers lightly and she giggled.
"Now put me to sleep. Like old times," he said. She sat up straight and placed his head on her lap as she played with his hair to make him fall asleep easier.
Once she was sure he was asleep, Evelyn gently placed his head on the pillow and draped the blanket over his body. She smiled, stroking his cheek and placed a kiss on his forehead.
Making her way downstairs, she settled down in the living room, taking a glance at the picture of her family. She felt Jenna sit down next to her. "I miss them so much."
"Me too," Jenna said.
"Hey, hats off to you for coping with us," Evelyn said.
"You guys can be a pain in the ass but I love you so much." Jenna laughed.
Evelyn glanced down at her phone and sighed.
Kevin the Hybrid creep πΆ:
It's time love
"I told you to stop calling me that," she muttered angrily.
"What'd you say?" Jenna asked.
"Umβ is it okay if I stay over at Carolines?" Evelyn lied.
"Yeah. Of course." Jenna smiled and Evelyn nodded.
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
Once Evelyn was sure Jenna was too asleep, she ran upstairs, quietly packing whatever she can.
She checked to see if Elena was in her room. Disappointed and feeling more upset she wasn't able to receive comfort from her so instead sent her a goodbye voicemail.
ββββββββββ
Klaus paced around the apartment, the phone against his ear, and beginning to get frustrated as he waited for Evelyn.
Stefan, who was still sat near the kitchen with a defeated look after drinking too many blood bags, eyed Klaus with confusion as to why the Original seemed impatient.
A knock was heard and Klaus opened. "You took your time."
"Hello to you too," Evelyn remarked dryly. "First of all, 30 missed calls?! You sent the message half an hour ago. Stop harassing my phone."
"I was beginning to think you backed down on your word," he said.
"I would never do that. A deal is a deal. I'm not in the mood to play hide and seek with you just like Katherine," she scoffed.
"And second of all, get someone to fix the lift. I had to climb up five flights of stairs with two heavy suitcase and a backpack," Evelyn huffed, dragging the suitcases in front of her and Klaus glanced down at it then back at her.
Stefan frowned to see his best friend. "Eve? What are you doing here?"
"Stefano!" Evelyn embraced him in a warm hug. Klaus pressed his lips tightly at their interaction.
"You idiot." She slapped Stefan on the arm. "Sorry. I didn't mean to hit that hard," she winced and rubbed his arm.
"It didn't hurt." Stefan gave her a small smile.
"You made a deal with this creep," she whispered, pointing behind Klaus who was rolling his eyes.
"I can hear," Klaus said.
Stefan and Evelyn instead ignored him.
"Why are you here with two suitcases?" Stefan asked. Evelyn remained silent. "Eve?"
"It was for Jenna," she whispered and Stefan's eyes widened.
"No. You can't do this to her, Klaus. Let her go." Stefan pleaded.
"You are in no position to make demands. This is our deal," he shrugged with a smirk.
"It's okay, Stef," Evelyn said. "At least I have you with me."
Her eyes drifted towards a daggered Elijah on the floor. "Eli! What happened? Who hurt him?"
"He wanted to be reunited with my family. So I did just that," Klaus smiled smugly and Evelyn glared at him then looked back down, eyeing the dagger.
"Don't even think about it." Klaus gently pulled her back up and held her against his chest.
"You're so mean," she grumbled.
"I've been called worse," Klaus chuckled.
Stefan rolled his eyes, grabbing on to Evelyn's hand and pulling her away from Klaus' hold as the Hybrid glared at him for a brief moment.
"We need to leave," he said.
"I'm not carrying my suitcases. My arms are dead," Evelyn complained. "Can one of you please hold them please?"
Stefan and Klaus grabbed each suitcase, following Evelyn out of the apartment.
"And this one too," Evelyn smiled, shoving her backpack to Klaus who looked annoyed.
ββββββββββ
"I suppose, brother, you've been reunited with our family," Klaus mused.
"Wait!" Evelyn stopped Klaus from shutting the coffin lid. She glanced down at Elijah, stroking his cheek. "I'll see you whenever you're undaggered. Hopefully soon." She side eyed Klaus.
"Are you done?" Klaus asked in a bored tone and she nodded. He shut the coffin lid.
Klaus stood aside as two men wheeled the coffin away and he walked over to Evelyn who was glancing around the warehouse.
"You care so much for my brother, why?" He asked.
"Because he's my friend. He's kind and sweet to me." She played with sleeve of her top.
Klaus sighed. Once again someone else preferred his brother and he hated to admit it but he knew he deserved this kind of treatment from her especially.
"Where's Stefan?" She asked.
"He's having a little snack," he said.
"Just great," she muttered sarcastically. She would have to make sure Stefan didn't lose control of himself on this trip.
She turned her head away but felt fingers on her chin. "You'll enjoy your time, I promise. I'll buy you whatever your heart desires," he said with a small smile.
"That's kind of you but does it look like I need a sugar daddy?" Evelyn asked with a sweet smile, but there was a hint of sarcasm laced in her tone.
"Ohβ uhβ" Klaus was left speechless.
"Can we go now?" She looked away whilst hugging herself and rubbing her arms, feeling cold.
Klaus noticed her shivering and took off his jacket, placing it around her. She thanked him and tightened it around her, a faint blush creeping on her cheeks.
He was an ass but so sweet to her.
"Are you sure?" She asked. "I think you should take it back." She began to take off the jacket.
"I'm sure," he said.
"Okay."
"Let's go," Klaus sighed as he gazed at her.
"We don't seem to be going." Evelyn awkwardly spoke, pulling him out of his trance.
He cleared his throat. "Yes, right. Come on, love."
"Nik?"
"Do I have to call you Evelyn?" He asked with a sigh.
"Fine, you don't have to."
As they began to walk away, Evelyn suddenly stood in front of him, making him frown with a questioning look. "Actually there is one thing I want," she said.
"Whatever you want, my love," Klaus said without hesitation.
"I want ice cream. A tub and a different flavour everyday," she smiled sweetly.
"That's a bit unhealthy, don't you think?"
"Are you telling me to lose weight?" She gasped.
"No. No. That's not what I meant. I'm sorry," he spoke hastily before she went all feisty and beat his ass again.
"Well?" She anticipated.
"A tub of ice cream a day it is then," he nodded.
"Thank you. I love ice cream so much," she said with a dreamy smile.
"I figured." His eyes held amusement.
"I don't like the fruity flavours. They're disgusting." She scrunched her face in disgust.
Klaus took a mental note of that. Don't upset her with buying fruity flavours.
"Oh no. Nik!" She gasped.
"What's wrong?" He frowned when he saw a sad pout forming on her lips.
"I forgot to bring my pepper sprays!" She exclaimed and buried her face in her hands. "I'm so forgetful. I need them with me."
"We'll buy them on the way."
"Pepper, vervain and wolfsbane. Oh and they have to be different colours so I know which one to use," Evelyn listed.
"Yes, I know. Blue for humans. Red for vampires. Green for wolfsbane," Klaus remembered with a nod.
"You remembered?" She asked with glistening eyes and he nodded with a soft smile.
She turned away from him, a small smile forming on her lips. No one hardly listened to her rambling and remembered what she would say.
"Let's go, Kevin."
"I told you to stop with that name,"
"There we go again with the growling," Evelyn tutted. "I know it's your puppy side but it seriously needs to stop."
He shut his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath.
She was going to turn his life into a living hell during this trip.
