"I'm saying we need a new plan because next time one of us is gonna be too hurt to heal."

Meilani frowned as she followed Derek onto the old abandoned train car that Derek, Erica and Isaac had been using as their new home and hideout. It smelt of rust and grime, but Meilani tried her best to ignore it. "Ugh, I get it. We can't save Jackson."

Derek sat down on one of the train car benches and leant his elbows on his knees, rubbing his hands over his face. "We can't seem to kill him either. I've seen a lot of things, Meilani. I've never seen anything like this. Every new moon's just gonna make him stronger."

"But how do we stop him?"

"I don't know," Derek replied, shrugging his shoulders and dropping his hands from his face. "I don't even know if we can."

Meilani leant against the pole that was attached to the bench that Derek sat on and crossed her arms. "Yeah, maybe we should just let the Argents handle it."

"I'm the one who turned him. It's my fault."

"Derek, you didn't turn him into this. I mean, this happened because of something in his past, right?"

"That's a legend in a book. It's not that simple," Derek huffed.

Meilani furrowed her eyebrows, not understanding what more could be to this whole thing. Derek even said he had never dealt with something like this before, so how would he know if Meilani was wrong or not? "What do you mean? What aren't you telling me?"

Derek turned to Meilani and gave her an odd look. "Why do you always think I'm keeping something from you?"

"Maybe because you always are keeping something from me?"

"Maybe I do it to protect you."

"Aw, Derek, that was so sweet I think I'm gonna cry," Meilani mused, pretending to wipe tears from her eyes. Her hand quickly dropped back to her side when Derek didn't look the slightest bit amused. "Look, doesn't being part of your pack mean that we don't keep secrets anymore?"

Derek collapsed back against the back of the bench, looking exhausted as he rubbed his hands over his eyes. "Go home, Meilani. Sleep. Heal. Make sure your friends are safe. The full moon's coming and with the way things are going, I've got a feeling it's gonna be a rough one."

"Stiles," Meilani groaned as Stiles continued to keep his back to her while he sat at his desk, flipping through the yearbook that laid on the desk. He had ignored her since the minute she got here. Well, actually, he spent about twenty minutes fussing over and making sure she was alright before he did a complete turn around and ignored her.

Last night after her talk with Derek, Meilani had trekked home only to be crushed into Scott's arms and not let go for a good ten minutes because he had no idea what had happened to her or where she was. She was lucky that Melissa had a late night shift that night because Meilani had no idea how she'd explain coming home after Scott, especially at midnight. Sure it was now Spring Break, but Melissa still didn't like the idea of her kids being out too late, especially with all the odd stuff going on.

When she woke up that morning, she had a dozen missed calls and another dozen text messages from Stiles, freaking out about her not calling him back or answering. The thought to text her boyfriend had slipped her mind after her talk with Scott because the two had just passed out on his bed together after Meilani had explained everything. The twins had been exceptionally exhausted from all the events from that night, especially Meilani who nearly died thanks to Mrs. Argent.

"I know I should have texted you," Meilani said, standing up from Stiles' bed and walking over to his desk chair to spin it around. "I'm sorry, okay? I got home after Derek all but saved my ass and then fell asleep after I had to explain everything to Scott. I'm sorry I didn't call or text you to let you know I was okay, but I am okay. Isn't that what matters?"

Stiles frowned as he just stared up at Meilani, the obvious hurt in his eyes only made Meilani feel worse about contacting him. With how things were going in Beacon Hills, she should have did something so he knew she wasn't dead. At this point, it was only a matter of time before something happened.

"Sti, please," Meilani begged and hopped onto his lap so she was sat sideways, wrapping her arms around his neck so she wouldn't fall off. She pouted her bottom lip and gave Stiles the best puppy dog eyes she could. "Forgive me?"

Stiles deflated eventually and wrapped his arms around her waist, hugging her close to him. "You really scared me, you know. The thought of you being dead... it just... I can't handle that, Lani."

Meilani laid her head on Stiles' shoulder as he spun the chair back around so he could continue his search through the old yearbook. For what he looked for, Meilani wasn't exactly sure since he hadn't spoken to her for the past fifteen minutes. "I know, I'm sorry."

Stiles kissed the side of her head and mumbled that it was okay, continuing his search.

"Hey, whatcha doin'?" Noah asked, knocking on the doorframe to announce his presence.

"Homework."

Noah nodded at went to walk down the hall when Stiles' response registered in his head and poked his head back into the room. "It's Spring Break... and it's pretty hard to do homework with your girlfriend sat on you."

Meilani merely shrugged when Noah glanced to her for help because she really didn't know what Stiles was up to either.

"What do you think you're doing?" Noah asked his son, walking into the room.

"Oh, you know, just simply satisfying my own curiosity."

Noah sighed and reached across Stiles to shut the yearbook closed, much to Stiles' dismay. "We brought Harris in this morning for questioning. They brought him in."

Meilani and Stiles both perked up at the new information of their jerk of a science teacher being brought in for questioning. "And?"

"And they're working on a warrant to arrest him for the murders."

"For all of them?" Stiles questioned.

"Enough of them."

Meilani raised an eyebrow because as much as she hated Harris, there was no proof that Harris had done any of the murders. It was all the Kanima and whoever controlled him, who the gang still had no idea who it was. "They don't have any proof it's Harris, though."

"You remember the couple at the trailer? The tire tracks nearby match Harris' car."

"W- that's not enough," Stiles argued, flipping the yearbook open again only have to Noah close it. "Dad!"

"The same car was also seen outside the hospital where the pregnant wife was killed. It's got some bumper sticker on it, a quote from Einstein."

"Wait, what quote?"

"Something about imagination and knowledge," Noah informed, shrugging as he didn't really know it that well.

Meilani blinked up at Noah as recognition took over. "Imagination is more important than knowledge. We saw the same car parked outside the rave."

"That means you're both a witness. You're gonna have to give a statement."

Stiles sat forward, nearly crushing Meilani into the desk in the process. "What about the concert promoter, Kara? She wasn't in Harris' class, right? I mean, what does Mr. Lahey have to do with Harris?"

Noah bowed his head and Meilani could hear the low groan in the back his throat that Stiles definitely missed. "It doesn't matter. The tire tracks put Harris at the site of three murders. That's damning evidence."

"No, it's not enough," Stiles argued again, opening the yearbook for the third time and this time Noah just let him flip through it.

"I don't get it. I thought you guys hated this guy."

"I don't hate him, alright? He hates me and, you know, if he killed them all, then lock the psycho up. However, there's something missing. There's gotta be something missing."

Noah grabbed Stiles' shoulder, snapping Stiles out of the daze he had gone in. "Hey, you don't have to solve this for me."

Meilani frowned, knowing that Noah had been placed on a "leave of absence", which was usually code for being fired. She felt awful because part of Meilani felt like that was her fault since she hadn't been able to stop Jackson and whoever controlled him just yet. These murders couldn't be explained without letting the supernatural be known to all of Beacon Hills. They probably thought Noah started to lose his mojo and kicked him down from being the sheriff.

"No, but I have to do something," Stiles said, glancing up at his father.

Noah smiled for a second before it was quickly wiped off when he glanced down at the open yearbook. Clearly, he had seen something in the yearbook that caught him off guard. "Look at the swim team."

The couple glanced down to the black and white photo of the swim team and just underneath the photo of the team was a photo of Mr. Lahey - the coach of the team at the same time Harris went to school.

"Do you really think we should be at Lydia's party right now with everything going on?" Meilani asked Scott and Stiles as they walked through Lydia's house later that night. How Stiles had gotten the enormous gift he got for Lydia through the front door was beyond her and Scott. They didn't even know it was, but let Stiles get the gift from the three of them to her.

"We have to watch out for Jackson, remember?" Stiles reminded his girlfriend, surveying the house around them. "You see him anywhere?"

"No. See Allison?" Scott asked.

"No, but we should probably tell her what we found," Meilani suggested. "Even though I'm still not quite sure what we found."

Scott gestured outside to Lydia's pool and offered a lame smile. "We figured out it has something to do with water. You know, the fact that all the victims were on the swim team. The way the Kanima reacted around the pool when Stiles and Derek floated in it."

"So whoever's controlling the Kanima hates the swim team."

"Hated the swim team," Stiles corrected his girlfriend. "Specifically, the 2006 swim team. So it could be another teacher. Maybe like a student back then. I mean, who are we missing? What haven't we thought of?"

Allison cautiously walked up to the trio and smiled sheepishly at them. "Uh, Jackson's not here."

Meilani examined the backyard area where there were no kids like they thought there would be. Usually Lydia's parties are jam packed with kids from all years and never ended until one or two AM. "Yeah, no one's here."

"Maybe it's just early," Scott suggested.

"Or maybe nobody's coming because Lydia's turned into the town wack job," Stiles countered.

"Well, we have to do something because we have completely ignored her for the past two weeks."

"She's completely ignored Stiles, Meilani and I for the past ten years. We don't owe her a party," Scott said, earning a nod from Stiles.

Allison frowned and it was obvious she didn't like Scott's answer. "What about the chance to get back to normal?"

"Normal?"

"She wouldn't be the town wack job if it wasn't for us," Allison argued.

Meilani sighed and dug her phone out of her back pocket. "I guess I could use my co-captain abilities to get the lacrosse team here."

"Yeah, I also know some people that can get this thing going. Like, really going," Stiles chimed in, whipping out his own phone.

"Who?" Allison questioned.

"I met them the other night and let's just say they know how to party."

It wasn't long before Lydia's house was filled with people like they typically were. Meilani had to use a bit of womanly charm to get most of the guys from the lacrosse team there, but it worked. The team had even brought their girlfriends who brought their friends. The trio had taken a seat on the corner couch somewhere on the back patio away from the kids while Allison stood on the other side of the pool with a new glass of alcohol in her hand thanks to Lydia.

"Are you two going to apologize to Allison?" Stiles asked Scott and Meilani, who glanced up to him in confusion. "You're the guy. It's kind of what we do. How do you think your sister hasn't murdered me yet? Plus, Meilani should just do it so this whole awkward tension thing can go away."

"But... I didn't do anything wrong."

"Then you should definitely apologize. See, anytime a guy thinks he hasn't done anything wrong, he actually has."

Meilani rolled her eyes and crossed her arms across her chest. "Men seriously make things more complicated than they need to be. Besides, I also didn't do anything, so I'm not saying anything either."

Stiles's eyes flickered over to his girlfriend who didn't seem amused in the slightest with Stiles' advice. "Is that the full moon talking?"

"Maybe... Why do you care anyway?" Meilani asked her boyfriend.

"Because, Meilani, something has to go right here. I mean, we're getting our asses royally kicked, if you haven't noticed. People are dying. I got my dad fired. Scott's gonna be held back in school. My girlfriend is a freaking werewolf and if on top of all that I have to watch Scott lose Allison to a stalker like Matt, I'm gonna stab myself in the face!"

Scott tensed as he bolted to his feet, eyes trained on the other side of the pool where Jackson stepped outside as his eyes scanned the crowded back area. "Don't stab yourself in the face."

"Why not?"

"Jackson's here."

═══*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*═══

Lydia had all but pressed a glass of wine into Meilani's hand, which she reluctantly drank and it was actually good so she didn't complain too much. One drink wouldn't kill anyone, right? However, ever since she drank from the glass she felt weird. Not full moon weird and not even tipsy weird. It was something that Meilani couldn't quite explain. She almost felt... drugged? Maybe?

"Babe, you okay?" Stiles asked, noticing that Meilani had been weird for a while now.

"It's not the full moon. It's different..." Meilani replied, mind racing as she tried to figure out what was wrong with her because Stiles and Scott, who had also drank, seemed perfectly fine. She mumbled to the boys she was going to step to the end of the party where there were no kids so she could try and get some air alone.

Meilani stepped outside the gate and leant against the cool brick to try and cool off her rapidly heating body. She could practically hear her heartbeat in her ears and her spun as if she had drank a dozen of the drinks Lydia had given to her instead of just the one glass. She dropped to her butt on the pavement and leant her head back on the wall.

A sound to her right alerted her and she whirled around to see Scott and Stiles laid just by the gate door, motionless, with Derek stood above them and he didn't look the least bit happy. How did Scott and Stiles even get there? She had just left them on the other side of the pool. "You let them die. I told you to listen to me so no one else could die or get hurt, but you didn't listen! Now your boyfriend and brother had to pay the price for it."

Meilani felt her lungs squeeze as if they were in an iron fist and she blinked a few times, but the scene before her didn't go away. It only got worse as Derek continued to scream that it was all Meilani's fault and she could never save anyone. She clutched her hands to her ears and frantically shook her head until suddenly the screams stopped. Opening her eyes, Meilani saw that the trio were suddenly gone and Scott and Stiles stood where she left them.

Meilani's mind raced as it tried to figure out what the hell had just happened. Did she really just... hallucinate? The full moon had never done that to her before. Her eyes glanced to the glasses in everyone's hands and realization dawned on her. Someone put something in the alcohol.

"Lydia," Meilani whispered and rushed back into the party, frantically looking over heads for the strawberry blonde. She couldn't even find Allison anymore. Seeing as how she wouldn't be finding Lydia, Meilani grabbed two water bottles from the cooler and ran off to find Scott and Stiles who were now slumped against the brick pillar near the jacuzzi.

"Boys!" Meilani exclaimed, dropping to her knees in front of the boys who both looked like they had seen ghosts. She shoved the water bottles into their hands and tried to get them to drink the water to get whatever was in their systems out. At least enough to sober them up.

A girl dropped down on the other side of the jacuzzi next to the boys' heads and raised an eyebrow. "Oh, girl, you ain't going to sober them up like that." She winked at Meilani before she grabbed both boys' heads and dunked their heads under the water for a second and brought them back out.

"How do you feel?" the girl asked the boys who coughed and spit water out of their mouths, the fronts of their shirts now soaked.

"Like I might have to revisit my policy on hitting a girl," Stiles quipped, running a hand over his face to wipe the water from it.

"They're sober."

Once the two boys were back on their feet and Meilani explained what she knew so far, the three split up in search of Lydia. The kids who had drank anything Lydia gave out acted as if they had drank a whole bottle on their own and acted crazy.

"Hey," Stiles and Scott greeted when they met up with Meilani back outside on the patio. "We can't find her anywhere and anyone that's had any of that crap, they're freaking out.

Meilani watched as multiple people ran around the backyard and jumped randomly into the pool and jacuzzi. "Uh, yeah. I can see that."

"What are we gonna do?" Scott asked, glancing from the now soaked back patio to Meilani.

"I don't know, but we gotta - "

"NO, GUYS, GUYS, I CAN'T SWIM!" Matt yelled as he got flung into the middle of the pool. He sputtered and gasped as his head would come up to the surface and then go back under, trying to get to the edge of the pool and pull himself out.

"I got you," Jackson called into the water, dipping his arm in and pulling Matt out of the pool and back onto his feet.

The whole party stopped in what they were doing to glance over at a sopping Matt who looked like he wanted to murder the three boys that flung him into the pool for no reason.

"What are you looking at?" Matt barked at everyone, fists clenched at his side as they shook violently. His eyes trailed over to Meilani, Scott and Stiles and his dark look only grew darker as he bumped past the three of them. What the hell was that all about?

The sound of cop sirens could be heard in the distance and the crowd was quick to disperse and ran off from the party before the cops could nab any of them for drinking underage, including Scott, Stiles and Meilani. The boys had stayed back near the house to wait for Allison to come out along with Lydia so they could make sure they were okay, while Meilani saw Matt down the street and decided to at least check if he was okay.

However, before Meilani could get further than two feet from the cop car in the middle of the street, she froze. Stood in front of a trembling and fuming Matt with his tail wrapped around Matt's legs as if he were a pet, was the Kanima. A group of kids ran between Meilani and Matt, cutting him from view. When the kids passed by, Matt and Jackson were both gone from view and Meilani couldn't find them anywhere in the distance or hear either of them.

"Well... shit."

AUTHORS NOTE

Hi hey hello

Welp, that happened, huh? It actually lowkey took me a while to figure out what Meilani's hallucination would be because she has quite a few things at the moment that plague her mind, but the thought of not being able to save the two boys she cares for the most is the biggest one. So we swung with that one for her hallucination.

THERE ARE JUST FOUR CHAPTERS LEFT FOR BOOK TWO! THE NEXT TWO EPISODES WILL BE DONE IN ONE CHAPTER, WHILE THE FINAL EPISODE WILL BE BROKEN INTO TWO PARTS! THEN WE CAN MOVE ONTO THE THIRD AND FINAL BOOK FOR MEILANI MCCALL. I'M BOTH READY AND NOT READY AAAHHHHH
