THIRTY THREE

I haven't been writing a lot lately so for that I'm sorry.

I know, I know I leave for a bit, I come back and say I'm not going again for a long time and then after a few weeks it happens again but I've been so stressed and busy at work lately its been horrible. I've lost motivation and I don't want to put out crappy writing. I don't know when the next chapter of any of my books will come out. I'll try to not make it months between but I cannot make any promises but I am not leaving it! I'm still here just... not as regular. Enjoy the chapter I've been cooking Vincent and the Doctor for a while. I love the episode and had to do it the justice it deserved.

Love ya <3

THE KRAFAYIS
━━━━━∙⋆⋅⋆∙━━━━━

By the time Vincent was almost done with his painting the sky had become dark and an owl was quietly hooting away from a nearby tree. The Doctor sat on the grass, his back facing Vincent, Hollie, Amy and Cassiopeia. His head rested in one of his hands and a bored look on his face.

Hollie, Amy, and Cassiopeia watched Vincent as he painted. "Is this how time normally passes?" The Doctor asked aloud in a dull tone. "Really slowly. In the right order." He let out a bored sigh and stood up. "If there's one thing I can't stand, it's an unpunctual alien attack."

Amy looked at the sulking Time Lord: "Are you okay?" She asked. "You seem a bit," she paused for a moment and frowned as she studied him, "if I didn't know you better, I'd say nervous." The ginger looked at her friend for help. "Hollie?"

The blonde nodded in agreement a second before the Doctor nodded himself. "Yes, there's something not right and I can't quite put my finger on it."

"There!" Vincent suddenly exclaimed, pointing with the back of his paintbrush at the church behind his easel. "He's at the window."

Hollie frowned, looking through the window but of course, she couldn't see anything as the Doctor stood up, running over to join the group.

"Where?"

"There, on the right." Vincent pointed again, looking at the Doctor.

"As I thought." The Time Lord nodded. "Come on. I'm going in."

"Well I'm coming too." Vincent went to stand up.

The Doctor's eyes widened and he stopped the ginger in his motions. "No! You're Vincent Van Gogh." He slowly shook his head. "No."

Vincent frowned as he returned to his seat. "But you're not armed."

"I am." He nodded.

Hollie and Amy frowned while Cassiopeia's lips twitched into a smile but it was Vincent who broke the silence. "What with?"

"Overconfidence, this," he patted the small briefcase in his hands before he patted Cassiopeia's shoulder, "Cassiopeia and a small screwdriver. I'm absolutely sorted. Just have to find the right crosactic setting and stun him with it. Sonic never fails. Anyway, Hollie, Amy, only one thought, one simple instruction. Don't follow me under any circumstances."

"I won't," Amy replied.

"If Cassiopeia is going then I'm going," Hollie told the Doctor.

He huffed and then sighed as she crossed her arms at him while he tried (and failed) to give her a stern look. The Doctor sighed. "Fine. Cassiopeia, look after her."

Said blonde rolled her eyes at the Time Lord. "You really can't say no to her can you?"

The Doctor huffed again. "I can but we don't have time to argue so it's easier if you look after her." Hollie grinned and followed the Doctor towards the church with Cassiopeia a few steps behind her while Vincent looked at Amy.

"Will you follow them?"

"Of course." She replied with a nod.

Vincent grinned. "I love you."

The Doctor spun on his heels and turned towards Hollie after suddenly stopping near the church entrance. The Doctor opened the case and she watched as he removed the strange device from before and promptly put his arms through the straps. She put the case down, helping the Doctor adjust the straps for a moment before he stepped closer to the church. Cassiopeia closely followed behind him and Hollie as they neared the large doors.

The Doctor slowly and carefully opened the large wooden double doors, the Doctor looked at the artwork of St. Michael slaying a dragon. Hollie peered over his shoulder, her eyes darting around the room as the Krafayis' growls grew louder the further into the church they crept.

"Cass." The Doctor whispered, nodding at her. The blonde nodded back silently, bringing out her screwdriver a second before she scanned the area near the window where the Krafayis had last been spotted.

The Time Lord spun around, his back to the large arched window as Cassiopeia shook her head before scanning with her sonic again. Hollie meanwhile watched as the Doctor moved the mirror in an attempt to find the Krafayis.

"Damn," the Doctor whispered, not seeing it anywhere near the window. "He's moved."

Hollie's eyes widened as a glimpse of the creature shone in the mirror. "Doctor!" She screamed, jumping back. The Doctor's head snapped to look at the mirror a second before the Krafayis' claw came down on it, smashing the glass a second before a loud yelp escaped his lips while he was thrown halfway across the church.

Cassiopeia's eyes widened in horror before she took off running in the direction of the Time Lord, Hollie right on her tail as the Doctor grunted from the impact and slowly stood.

"I got an idea," Cassiopeia muttered suddenly darting into one side of a confessional she spotted. "Come on!"

The Doctor huffed and turned his head to look behind himself as a loud clatter echoed in the room as the Krafayis knocked things onto the floor during the chase. The Doctor quickly spun back around and grabbed Hollie's hand, darting into the other side of the Confessional with her.

While things had changed dramatically since the Doctor was thrown back into her life and she couldn't imagine what every day on every planet and every time was like she never imagined being this close and pressed up against the Doctor today when she had woken up this morning. She wasn't exactly complaining, however, the reasoning for such a situation was not the most ideal thing in the world and the loud thumping of Doctor's hearts hammering right next to her ear was not the most pleasantest experience, especially when there were two hearts and they were both beating very loudly.

The Doctor didn't look very comfortable either, not that she really knew how he looked, she couldn't see that well in the dark but she could have sworn the Doctor's face had grown redder than it had a few moments ago as her eyes began to adjust to the light, or rather lack of it.

"Absolutely quiet." The Doctor whispered, eyes glancing down at the blonde squeezed into the Confessional with him. He narrowed his eyes at the tiny holes in the thin wood that separated Cassiopeia from himself and Hollie. He slowly opened the tiny doorway between Cassiopeia's compartment and the one he currently shared with Hollie. "Can you breathe a little quieter, please?"

Cassiopeia rolled her eyes at the Time Lord. A few moments of almost silence other than heavy breathing passed by. Hollie frowned slightly. "I think he's gone..."

"Shush," Cassiopeia ordered aloud.

Hollie blinked in confusion while the Doctor frowned slightly in her direction. "Oops..." She muttered, looking between both their faces. Hollie's puzzled while the Doctor frowned looking at the blonde in wonder.

The Krafayis suddenly let out a loud growl and took a swipe at Cassiopeia's side of the confessional. Hollie's eyes widened in horror and she gulped loudly as wood went flying. "It's time's like this I miss my brother and sister." Cassiopeia huffed in annoyance as she threw herself to the ground.

"I think he heard us." The Doctor remarked, glaring down at Hollie.

The Krafayis then decided to attack the Doctor and Hollie's side of the confessional. Hollie screamed in terror as the Doctor looked at where the creature had attacked in awe, its claws almost coming into contact with the Time Lord's back.  "That is impressive hearing he's got."

"What's less impressive are our chances of survival." Cassiopeia quickly added with a grunt as she stood up.

"Not helping!" The Doctor snapped a moment before they all shot their heads in the direction of the church's front doors as they opened.

"Hey!" Vincent loudly called, looking at what presumably was where the Krafayis stood, Cassiopeia watched closely as the man stepped through the doorway, the chair he had sat on while painting being held defensively in front of him, the chair legs pointing outwards. "Are you looking for me, sonny? Come on, over here. Because I'm right here waiting for you."

Cassiopeia's eyes were transfixed as Vincent almost danced side to side as the Krafayis roared at him. Amy moved to the church doors, holding them open and watching with wide eyes as Vincent fought the air. The Doctor slowly moved out of his compartment of the confessional, his hand tightly holding onto Hollie's as she followed him.

"Come on." Vincent urged them over, his eyes flickering in their direction before looking back at the Krafayis. "Quickly. Get behind me."

The ginger man didn't have to tell them twice and the Doctor and Hollie made their way over to Vincent cautiously, the Doctors arm around Hollie as Cassiopeia climbed out of the confessional. She brandished her screwdriver and held it up to where she only could presume the Krafayis stood.

"Anything?" She questioned, looking at Vincent for a moment and backing up slightly when he stepped back.

"Uh uh." He waved them back, the Doctor moving first out the door. "Amy!" He snapped seeing the ginger beside the door. "Why does no one listen to me!"

"Can we talk about this later!" Cassiopeia snapped, running out of the church with Hollie. The Doctor nodded and grabbed Amy's hand, dragging her out a second before Vincent took his leave. The five of them backed away from the church.

The Doctor darted his eyes around widely even though he would never be able to see the creature. "Where is he?" He questioned.

Vincent gave a small huff, eyeing the creature in front of him and the chair he was still holding in defence. "Where do you think he is, you idiot? Use your head."

The Doctor swallowed hard at his stupidness and Cassiopeia tried stunning the creature again with a slightly different setting. "Anything?"

"Nothing," Vincent replied, stepping back slightly from the Krafayis. "In fact, he seemed to rather enjoy it."

"Ooo." The Time Lord hummed.

Vincent's eyes widened as the Doctor, with Hollie behind him stepped away from the rest of the group. "Duck!" He exclaimed. The Doctor instantly crouched down, dragging the blonde with him as the Krafayis swiped its claws at them. "Left!"

Hollie jumped one way as the Doctor jumped the other and yelped loudly as he was thrown against a wall behind him.

"Doctor!" Hollie screeched as Amy screamed. Cassiopeia's eyes widened as Hollie ran to the Doctor, no care for where the creature was in sight as she crouched down to the Time Lord, her eyes full of worry.

Amy was quick to join her friend with Vincent taking up a defensive position, standing between where the Krafayis were and where the Doctor, Hollie and Amy were on the ground.

"Right, sorry." Vincent apologised, casting a quick glance behind him. "Your right, my left."

"This is no good at all." The Doctor grumbled, wheezing slightly as he held his chest. "Run like crazy and regroup."

Hollie shook her head, they barely managed to get away from it the last time it chased them.

Amy rolled her eyes and grabbed the Doctor's wrist, pulling him into a small Crypt. "Oh, come on, in here."

Vincent quickly followed the four in, the Doctor pushed against the large wooden door with Hollie and Cassiopeia. Vincent looked down at the floor at something seeming to block it from being shut before he slammed his foot down and a roaring cry echoed a second before the door fell shut.

"Right. Okay. Here's the plan. Holls, Amy, Rory." Hollie winced as Cassiopeia coughed slightly as Amy frowned at the Time Lord.

"Who?"

"Old friend." Cassiopeia quickly added, giving Hollie a sad smile when Amy turned away for a moment.

"Sorry, yeah... Vincent." The Doctor corrected as the Krafayis pushed on the door again bringing the very real danger that the creature was on the other side of the very old and wooden door which was probably not going to last as long as the Doctor hoped it would.

"What is the plan?" Amy asked as she pushed against the door as the Krafayis continued to break in.

"I don't know, actually." The Doctor huffed. "My only definite plan is that in future I'm definitely just using screwdrivers for screwing in screws."

Cassiopeia snorted slightly at him as Vincent left and took off running as he called back to them: "Give me a second. I'll be back." The blonde then frowned in thought as she tilted her head in wonder. "We could try talking to him?"

"Talking to him?" Hollie and Amy both said at once, shooting their heads over to look at Cassiopeia as if she were insane.

"Well, yes." The Doctor shrugged as he nodded thoughtfully. "Might be interesting to know his side of the story. Yes..." Cassiopeia winced as the creature banged on the door again. "Though maybe he's not really in the mood for conversation right at this precise moment." The Time Lord quickly added.

"No harm in trying if we'll all be dead when it breaks in anyway..." Cassiopeia remarked before speaking through the wooden door. "Listen to me." The Krafayis pushed all its weight on the door again and the blonde gritted her teeth as she and the others pushed with all their might against it. "Listen!" She snapped and sighed in relief when it didn't push again. The Doctor blinked at her. "You're scared and afraid and I know you can understand me which is even scarier because I know you won't understand why you can understand me. I also know that no one's talked to you for a pretty long time, but please, listen to me." She took in another deep breath and closed her eyes. "I also don't belong here and I know what it's like to be alone. Right now I feel alone but I know deep down I'm not." She smiled slightly through her closed eyes. "Please trust me. I can help you."

"We can help you." The Doctor corrected, his eyes flickering over to Cassiopeia. The same puzzled look from back in the Confessional in his eyes.

With each encounter with Orion Cassiopeia and Nova the more he was confused about  who they were. He had met them more times than River by now and he was still nowhere near close to figuring anything out. maybe their answer lay in the same mystery as Hollies, maybe neither was connected at all and just one massive coincidence.

The Doctor blinked away his thoughts and pushed them to the back of his head as a window in the Crypt smashed and Vincent's voice echoed through the building from where he stood in the room, his easel in hand with the pointed feet of it pointing out as a weapon. "Over here, mate!"

The Doctor moved first with Hollie being dragged behind him, his hand still tightly holding hers as he ducked behind a stone monument, pulling her down beside him. Amy and Cassiopeia right behind the pair. "What's it up to now?" The Doctor questioned in a whisper to Vincent, the ginger man's eyes slowly following the Krafayis around the room.

"It's moving round the room." He explained and frowned. "Feeling its way around."

"What?" The Doctor asked.

"It's like it's trapped," Vincent explained, eyes flickering to the Time Lord for a second and then back to the Krafayis. "It's moving round the edges of the room."

Amy squinted her eyes. "I can't see a thing."

The Doctor's eyes widened as he loudly gasped. "I am really stupid."

Hollie huffed. "Doctor, this is not a moment to re-evaluate your self-esteem."

"No, he really is stupid," Cassiopeia cut in, shrugging as the Doctor snapped his head over to her for a brief moment before explaining to Hollie and Amy who frowned in their confusion.

"Why does it attack but never eat its victims?" He questioned. "And why was it abandoned by its pack and left here to die? And why is it feeling its way helplessly around the walls of the room?"

Hollie continued to frown and the Doctor sighed. "It can't see. It's blind. Yes, and that explains why it has such perfect hearing!" He exclaimed suddenly.

"Which unfortunately also explains why it is now turning around and heading straight for us." Vincent winced.

Cassiopeia groaned. "You and your big mouth!" She snapped at the Doctor.

"Vincent." The Doctor asked nervously as the sound of thumping feet echoed in the room. The Doctor's eyes frantically darted around the room with worry as he tightly held Hollie's hand. "Vincent, what's happening?"

Vincent's eyes widened as he tightened his grip on the easel. "It's charging now. Get back. Get back!"

Vincent was suddenly lifted into the air, his legs flailing about for a moment before he let go of it and stumbled back.

Hollie gasped, her eyes wide and her hands flew over her mouth as she watched with wide eyes while the Krafayis let out a wounded cry.

"He wasn't without mercy at all," Vincent whispered sadly as the Krafayis must have laid down, the easel still inside but at a lower height than before. Hollie swallowed hard and knelt beside the shadow of the creature and carefully placed a hand on it, stroking what felt like feathers.

"He was without sight. I didn't mean for that to happen." Vincent whispered, his head bowed in shame. "I only meant to wound it, I never meant to-" He swallowed hard. "I'm sorry."

"You didn't know," Cassiopeia told him. "It's not your fault Vincent."

"He's trying to say something." The Doctor frowned as the Krafayis made quiet noises.

"What is it?" Vincent asked.

"I'm having trouble making it out," He frowned and paused for a moment, "but I think he's saying, I'm afraid." He swallowed hard, looking at Hollie sadly for a moment. Amy knelt beside her, her hand on her friend's shoulder as a tear rolled down the blonde's cheek. "There, there." The Doctor whispered. "Shush, shush. It's okay, it's okay. You'll be fine. Shush."

Hollie closed her eyes as she felt the creature's body stop rising and falling under her hand. Another tear slipped down her cheek and she turned towards her friend, tightly holding her.

"He was frightened, and he lashed out." Vincent began. "Like humans who lash out when they're frightened. Like the villagers who scream at me. Like the children who throw stones at me."

Cassiopeia sighed sadly and nodded.

The Doctor looked at Vincent and then at Amy who continued to hold her friend in a tight hug. "Sometimes winning," the Doctor closed his eyes for a moment, "winning is no fun at all."

Later that same night Hollie sadly looked up at the stars in the sky, she was lying on the grass beside the Doctor who held her hand and was gently stroking it with his thumb. Amy and Vincent laid head to head with the Doctor and Hollie while Cassiopeia sat nearby to them and tilted her head at the Doctor and Hollie, watching them curiously out of the corner of her eye. "I'm sorry that my attempt to cheer you up failed miserably." The Doctor said telepathically with a defeated tone to his voice.

Hollie tilted her head slightly to look over at him, a sad smile on her lips as she telepathically spoke back. "You tried which is what counts, and I got to meet Vincent Van Gogh so that was cool."

The Doctor wordlessly nodded as Vincent held out his hand to the Time Lord.

"Hold my hand, Doctor." He invited. The Doctor complied as Vincent held another hand out to Amy who also did so and warmly smiled at her blonde friend as she took her hand too. "Try to see what I see. We are so lucky we are still alive to see this beautiful world. Look at the sky. It's not dark and black and without character. The black is in fact deep blue." Vincent let go of the Doctor's hand and pointed in a direction in the sky. "And over there, lighter blue. And blowing through the blueness and the blackness, the wind swirling through the air and then, shining, burning, bursting through, the stars. Can you see how they roar their light? Everywhere we look, the complex magic of nature blazes before our eyes."

Hollie smiled looking up at the sky as she pictured Vincent's painting 'Starry Night' in the sky above her. "I've seen many things, my friend. But you're right." The Doctor spoke up in awe. "Nothing quite as wonderful as the things you see."

×××

"I will miss you terribly," Vincent told them as they stood in the small courtyard at the back of his house that next morning as he held up his self-portrait in his hands. "I only wish I had something of real value to give you."

Hollie giggled at it as the Doctor held up his hands. "Oh, no, no, no. I could never accept such an extraordinary gift." He shook his head. "There's enough artwork on the TARDIS already."

"Very well." He chuckled. "You're not the first to decline the offer." He turned to Hollie first. "You're a better artist than I'll ever be..." Hollie chuckled softly and shook her head. "But you have the kindest heart for all the nice things you have said."

Hollie smiled warmly at him and opened her arms to hug him. "Thank you." She whispered.

"No, thank you." He whispered back before pulling away. "And thank you, Amy, the blessed, the wonderful." He smiled warmly at her and opened his arms

Amy smiled back in return and kissed both his cheeks. "Be good to yourself, and be kind to yourself."

"I'll try my best."

"And maybe give the beard a little trim before you next kiss someone."

"I will, I will. And if you tire of this Doctor of yours, return, and we will have children by the dozen."

Cassiopeia laughed loudly as Amy nervously laughed at the other ginger while Hollie giggled. Vincent then turned to Cassiopeia. "You're odd and a little strange Cassiopeia and some of the things you have done today have amazed me so thank you."

Cassiopeia nodded mocking a small salute. "And Doctor my friend." Vincent grinned. "We have fought monsters together and we have won." He sighed slightly. "On my own, I fear I may not do as well."

Hollie tilted her head at the Doctor as he paused for a moment and then embraced Vincent in a hug. The ginger then headed inside. Cassiopeia frowned, crossing her arms as the Doctor grinned. "What?" She questioned, giving him raised eyebrows.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" He questioned.

Amy sighed. "I was thinking I may need some food or something before we leave."

Cassiopeia smiled shaking her head at the human. "Sadly he isn't thinking that Amy."

Hollie frowned. "Doctor, what are you thinking?"

"Vincent!" The Time Lord shouted and the man poked his head outside. "I got something I'd like to show you." He eyed the man's clothes. "Maybe just tidy yourself up a bit first."

Cassiopeia giggled at the advertising posters covering the TARDIS from top to bottom. "That's comical."

"It's anything but." The TARDIS shot back at the blonde. "Please don't tell your siblings."

Cassiopeia winked. "Our secret Idd."

The Doctor spoke to Vincent not noticing Cassiopeia look at the box fondly before leaning against it and crossing her arms. "Now, you know we've had quite a few chats about the possibility there might be more to life than normal people imagine?"

"Yes." He nodded.

"Well, brace yourself, Vinny."

Vincent stepped inside the TARDIS, his eyes widening in amazement, he then went outside and circled the box. Hollie giggled at him with Amy as the Doctor and Cassiopeia headed inside and towards the console.

"How come I'm the crazy one, and you four have stayed sane?" He asked, entering the TARDIS again.

"I'm not so sure we have." Cassiopeia chuckled in reply with a shrug.

Vincent eyed the console, looking at the various buttons and levers. "What do these things all do?"

"Oh, a huge variety of things." The Doctor casually shrugged before pointing at a couple. "This one here, for instance, plays soothing music. While this one makes a huge amount of noise. And this one makes everything go absolutely tonto!" He pulled a lever and the TARDIS shook as it took off.

"And this one?" Vincent pointed at another.

"And that's a friction contrafibulator." Cassiopeia winked.

"And this?"

"That's ketchup. And that one's mustard." The Doctor.

Hollie frowned. "You never said you had a ketchup dispenser in the console room. "I could have done with that the other day!"

The Doctor chuckled. "I wasn't going to let you get breadcrumbs on the TARDIS again Holls."

The blonde shook her head at him as Vincent cut in: "Come on, back to the cafe and you can tell me about all the wonders of the universe."

"Good idea. Although, actually, there's a little something I'd like to show you first."

×××

They stepped out of the TARDIS, now in Paris and Vincent gawked in amazement. "Where are we?"

"Paris, 2010 AD." The Doctor answered. "And this is the mighty Museé D'Orsay, home to many of the greatest paintings in history."

Cassiopeia smirked noticing the posters that were attached to the TARDIS had begun to set alight from the time vortex. "Feeling better?"

"Very much so, dear Cassiopeia."

"Oh, that's wonderful." Vincent nodded at the Doctor before staring as two boys walked past with a radio. "Ignore that." The Doctor pointed as he walked towards the entrance. "I've got something more important to show you."

Hollie giggled happily, bouncing up to the pair as Amy walked behind with Cassiopeia.

Hollie watched on eagerly as Vincent made his way through the museum, the Doctor having to pull him away from different paintings and sculptures. Hollie giggled as the Doctor copied the pose of a sculpture after making his way up a small set of stairs. "Almost there Vincent," Cassiopeia informed, hurrying ahead of the others to lead them on.

The Doctor nodded, forcing himself to not get distracted again as they neared their destination. The Doctor pulled Vincent away from another painting as the ginger smiled brightly, not noticing his name on the side of an archway as they stepped through into his section of the museum.

Vincent slowly walked into the room, his eyes looked around the walls of it for a moment before his mouth slowly opened as he noticed his very own paintings hung up on display.

Hollie softly smiled as she stood with Amy and Cassiopeia as the Doctor spotted Doctor Black nearby, speaking to a group of tourists. "Doctor Black, we met a few days ago." The Time Lord called, making his way over to the man. "I asked you about the church at Auvers."

"Oh, yes. Glad to be of help." He replied after a moment with a blink of realisation. "You were nice about my tie."

The Doctor chuckled and pointed at the man's choice of neckwear today as he replied: "Yes. And today is another cracker if I may say so. But I just wondered, between you and me, in a hundred words, where do you think Van Gogh rates in the history of art?"

"Well," He hummed in thought for a moment as Vincent continued to look around in awe as Amy gently guided the other ginger to look in Doctor Black's direction. "Big question, but to me, Van Gogh is the finest painter of them all. Certainly, the most popular great painter of all time. The most beloved. His command of colour, the most magnificent. He transformed the pain of his tormented life into ecstatic beauty. Pain is easy to portray, but to use your passion and pain to portray the ecstasy and joy and magnificence of our world." Hollie smiled softly before she looked in slight alarm as Vincent began to look visibly upset, his eyes becoming red as they welled up with tears as the man continued to talk. "No one had ever done it before. Perhaps no one ever will again. To my mind, that strange, wild man who roamed the fields of Provence was not only the world's greatest artist, but also one of the greatest men who ever lived."

Hollies face suddenly filled with a look of horror and Amy snapped her head to look at the other ginger as Vincent suddenly burst into tears, the Doctor quickly moved to his side worryingly while Cassiopeia smiled sadly at him knowingly. "Vincent. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Is it too much?"

Vincent shook his head as he wiped his eyes. "No. They are tears of joy. Thank you, sir." He looked up at Doctor Black and then kissed both the man's cheeks as he stood still utterly confused by the whole ordeal. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." He replied absurdly. "You're welcome."

"Sorry about the beard." He apologised before turning and walking away sniffing.

The Doctor, Hollie and Amy followed him as Doctor Black turned away from the group only to frown and quickly turn back to where Vincent was just moments ago as a sudden impossible thought crossed his mind.

The strange man did remarkably look a lot like Vincent Van Gogh. He tilted his head as Cassiopeia looked back at him with her arms crossed. Doctor Black turned away again and mouthed 'no' while he shook his head at the silly idea before turning back to Cassiopeia again. The blonde smirked and gave him a single nod in confirmation before she winked and raised a finger to her lips as Doctor Black's eyes widened and his mouth fell open.

Cassiopeia then swiftly turned around and exited the exhibit, a satisfied smile on her face as she quickly caught up with the others who were on their way back to the TARDIS.

×××

Vincent happily exited the TARDIS, a wild smile on his face. "This changes everything. I'll step out tomorrow with my easel on my back a different man." He chuckled slightly and shook his head. "I still can't believe that one of the haystacks was in the museum. How embarrassing."

"It's been a great adventure and a great honour." The Doctor smiled hugging the man.

"You've turned out to be the first doctor ever actually to make a difference to my life." Vincent admitted.

"I'm delighted. I won't ever forget you."

"I certainly won't either." Hollie beamed happily.

Vincent nodded at them both and looked at Amy. "And you are sure marriage is out of the question?"

"This time." She confirmed before adding: "I'm not really the marrying kind."

The Doctor shared a glance with Cassiopeia as Hollie looked at her friend sadly. The Doctor gently took her hand and squeezed it reassuringly before gently pulling her towards the TARDIS. Amy smiled as she followed Cassiopeia into the TARDIS. "Come on. Let's go back to the gallery right now." She pleaded. "Time can be re-written. I know it can."

Hollie looked up at the Doctor for confirmation, his eyes moved over to her ginger friend for a moment before he met her eyes again and shook his head at Hollie before kissing her hair sadly. "His life won't change."

"Can't you tell her?" She questioned as Amy began to talk with Cassiopeia about Vincent.

"You think she'd believe me?" He asked.

She didn't answer him with words as she shook her head at him with a defeated look on her face. The Doctor looked at Cassiopeia who looked torn between telling the ginger human the reality of what they'd find and keeping it to herself. The Doctor gave her a pointed look and Cassiopeia sighed slightly and turned to Amy. "Not everything changes in the future when we alter the past."

"But you saw what he said," Amy argued. "The Doctor made a difference!" She turned to the Time  Lord. "I just know it." She grinned. "Oh, the long life of Vincent Van Gogh. There'll be hundreds of new paintings."

The Doctor shook his head as he pulled a lever, taking them back to the museum. "I'm not sure there will."

×××

The Doctor, Hollie and Cassiopeia followed Amy up the stairs towards the Vincent Van Gogh exhibit. The ginger hurrying ahead of them. "Come on!" She exclaimed behind at them. She hurried into the room and her face fell when everything was in the same place as the day before. She swallowed hard spotting Doctor Black standing in front of Vincent's last painting. "We have here the last work of Vincent Van Gogh, who committed suicide at only thirty-seven. He is now acknowledged to be one of the foremost artists of all time. If you follow me now..." He continued on, the group following behind him.

Amy closed her eyes and looked down as a lump formed in her throat. The Doctor looked at her sadly and Hollie slowly walked up to her friend and tightly hugged her. The ginger sobbed quietly before sniffing and looking at the Time Lord who was now standing beside them, Cassiopeia nearby closely watching. "So you were right. No new paintings. We didn't make a difference at all."

"I wouldn't say that." The Doctor replied softly. "The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. Hollie let go of her friend and the Doctor hugged her next. "Hey." He whispered, gently rocking her side to side in comfort. "The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant." He pulled out of the hug and rested his forehead against hers, smiling before he pulled away from her again, taking her over to the church painting they spotted the creature in. Cassiopeia smiled as the Doctor hummed. "The ultimate ginger."

"The ultimate ginge." Amy confirmed making the Doctor laugh. "Brighter than sunflowers."
