SEVENTEEN

It's time for the last part of the Vampires of Venice now! Admittedly I have had this written put for around two weeks now, I just didn't feel like editing and whenever I went to do it I quickly lost al motivation but I'm back now and with 600 followers around the corner what better time for the final chapter of this episode?

The Doctor and Nova walked into the throne room, the two of them walking towards the throne in the middle of the room and going behind it.

Nova glanced at the Doctor before quickly reaching into her pocket and bringing a small yet long, white-tipped device out as she opened the backrest of the throne, she quickly scanned it and frowned before slipping the device back into her pocket as the Doctor looked over, the Time Lord frowning.

"What's that noise?"

"What noise?"

The Doctor put his hand into Nova's pocket, his eyes widened as he pulled out what looked like a sonic screwdriver. "What-"

"That's mine!" She snatched it back before glaring at him. "Did no one tell you not to go into other peoples pockets?"

"You have a sonic screwdriver." Hestated while pointing at her, "how and why do you have a sonic screwdriver."

"I was given one." She replied, tossing it in the air and catching it with ease before activating it and watching the tip glow white. The Doctor smiled slightly almost impressed before he shook his head and frowned. "By who?"

"That's something I can't tell you." The Doctor opened his mouth again and Nova sighed. "Nothing you can say will convince me to tell you, you shouldn't even know I have one at this point."

"Do the other two have one as well?"

"Yes." She nodded. "Orion and Cass have their own sonics as well, given to them of course."

"Right..." The Doctor slowly replied. "Was it me?"

"Oh, my gods." Nova pinched the bridge of her nose. "I can't tell you who gave them to us."

"Fine." He replied, almost pouting at her.

"You're too late." Rosanna spoke up as she walked into the throne room, the Doctors pout instantly disappeared as Rosanna looked between the Time Lord and Nova. "Such determination, just to save one city. Hard to believe it's the same man that let an entire race turn to cinders and ash." She walked towards the Doctor, staring up at him while he stared down at her from the top of the small steps. "Now you can watch as my people take their new kingdom."

"The girls have gone, Rosanna." Was all he replied.

"You're lying."

"Shouldn't we be dead?" Nova pulled the woman's attention towards herself. Rosanna's eyes widened in realisation as she stepped away from the Doctor who started to plead.

"Rosanna, please, help me. There are two hundred thousand people in this city."

"So save them." Rosanna snapped before turning away and heading out of the throne room, eyes locked on Hollie who ran into the room just as she left.

The Doctor groaned and walked up to her. "I told you to go to the TARDIS!"

"Correction, you told Amy to go back to the TARDIS for Rory."

The Time Lord sighed, running a hand down his face. "Does no one listen to me anymore?"

"Anymore?" Nova chuckled. "Did they ever listen to you in the first place?"

The Doctor huffed in annoyance. "Fine." He replied before running back to the throne as it began to beep.

---

Amy and Rory continued heading back to the TARDIS before stopping as Francesco suddenly stepped out in front of them, without thinking Rory picked up two candlesticks and held them out as a cross. "Amy," He looked at her, "run."

Not even phased by the candlesticks Francesco hit them away and walked past Rory, his eyes locked on Amy who backed away. "This way, you freak," Rory shouted. "No! This way, you big, stupid, great SpongeBob." Francesco continued to ignore him. "The only thing I've seen uglier than you is your Mum!" He suddenly shouted without thinking.

Francesco's face fell and he turned to look at Rory. "Huh?"

"No." He swallowed hard.

"Did you just say something about Mummy?" Francesco questioned.

Looking around Rory picked up a broomstick and jabbed the broom end towards Francesco before waving it around. Francesco drew out a real sword and the two fought.

"Careful. Careful." Amy warned, running up the stairs. "Okay, hit him! This way! Bring him this way. Rory!"

Using the sword Francesco chopped up the broomstick Rory was holding forcing the man to throw it away, Francesco dived towards him just as Rory ran out of the way and threw a washing line over him, entangling him in it and the washing.

" Oh." Rory crinkled his nose as he got a smell of Francesco. "Oh, you stink of fish."

"Well, I'm hardly going to smell of cheese and biscuits."

Francesco walked towards Rory who backed up to where Amy was. "Hey, Mummy's boy!" The ginger exclaimed. Francesco looked up just as Amy brought out a small compact mirror and held it into the sky, shining it at the correct degree to allow the sunlight to bounce of at hit Francesco, instantly burning him and causing him to explode.

Rory grimaced as he wiped soot from Francesco off of him.

"That was lucky," Amy commented as Rory ran up to her. "Why did you make the sign of the cross, you numpty?"

"Oh. Oh, right," he then frowned, "I'm being reviewed now, am I?"

Amy suddenly deeply kissed Rory before smiling. "Mmm. Now we go help the Doctor, Nova and Hollie.

Rory nodded. "Righty-ho."

---

The Doctor, Hollie and Nova ran back into the throne room at the same Time And and Rory did. "Get out." The Doctor ordered, running to the throne. "I need to stabilise the storm."

"We're not leaving you."

"Right," He looked up at Rory, walking towards him, "so one minute it's all you make people a danger to themselves, and the next it's we're not leaving you. But if one of you gets squashed or blown up or eaten, who gets the-" The house began to shake, cutting off his sentence, the five of them all falling to the floor.

Rory looked at the Doctor, pointing up at the sky why lying on his back. "What was that?"

"Nothing." The Doctor replied, standing up himself. "Bit of an earthquake."

"An earthquake?" Amy gawked.

"Manipulate the elements, it can trigger earthquakes."

"We shouldn't really worry about them though" Nova added.

"Why not?" Hollie asked.

The Doctor nodded at her. "Worry about the tidal waves caused by the earthquake." He looked at the throne which continued to loudly beep. "Right, Rosanna's throne is the control hub but she's locked the programme, so," he spun around, looking at them all, "tear out every single wire and circuit in the throne. Go crazy. Hit it with a stick, anything. We need it to shut down and re-route control to the secondary hub, which I'm guessing will also be the generator."

---

The Doctor soniced the device at the bottom of the bell tower before looking up at the wires that went all the way up to the roof, the bell in the tower rang and the Doctor sighed before running up the stairs.

"Shut up. Shut up." He shouted, reaching the bell and jumping up, grabbing the bottom of the bell and stopping it from ringing. "That's better." His eyes followed the wires before he swallowed hard seeing the wires go out of the hole where the window was and onto the roof. "Oh." He looked out. "Oh. Okay."

Hollie, Nova Amy and Rory all ran out of the throne room and headed outside before looking up at the sky as the rain heavily poured down onto them. "There he is." Rory pointed up, grabbing Amy's hand. "Come on."

The Doctor climbed up the roof, using the wires to pull himself up before moving his drenched hair out of the rain to help him see better. After climbing up the Doctor opened the brass metal casing, revealing the mechanism spinning around inside. "Er..." He looked at it before seeing a switch and flicking it. The mechanism suddenly stopped and the rain eventually stopped pouring allowing the clouds to slowly disappear and sunlight to shine through.

The Time Lord looked down below as people on the ground clapped in joy.

"You did it!" Rory cheered loudly hugging Amy.

Hollie laughed, hugging Nova who hugged her back as the Doctor breathed out a sigh of relief before he began to head back down to the ground.

---

The Doctor quickly ran into the throne room in search of Rosanna, he frowned, eyes darting around before his eyes widened realising what she was going to do. The Doctor ran to the canalside as Rosanna stood onto the plank.

"Rosanna!"

"One city to save an entire species." She asked as Hollie slowly walked up to the archway and watched the two. "Was that so much to ask?"

"I told you, you can't go back and change time." He replied. "You mourn, but you live. I know, Rosanna. I did it."

"Tell me, Doctor. Can your conscience carry the weight of another dead race?" She asked. "Remember us. Dream of us." She then stepped off the plank and into the water.

No!" The Doctor shouted as he dove onto the plank, watching the water for any movement as it bubbled before it laid still. "No!"

"Doctor?" Hollie quietly spoke up as she walked through the archway, he turned around before looking at her with a saddened look on his face as he stood up.

"I couldn't convince her." He replied, shaking his head.

"And you feel like it's your fault." She replied before frowning. "I heard what she said, did you kill an entire race before?"

The Doctor sighed, looking at the ground before meeting sea blue eyes. "I'll tell you later, okay?"

"Deal." She nodded before suddenly leaning forward and kissing the Doctor on the cheek making even him blink. "That was for saving Venice."

"Right." He slowly replied. "And what about all those other places we've saved? the Starwhale, the whole Earth?"

"Venice is my favourite city, I always wanted to come here and you just saved it.

Nova chuckled quietly to herself from the other side of the canal, closely watching the two from behind a pillar. "If only they knew..."

---

The inspector who stopped the four when they first came to Venice deeply bowed as they left, the Doctor took the lead with Hollie and Nova behind him, Amy and Rory behind them.

"Now then, what about you two, eh?" The Doctor glanced back to Amy and Rory. "Next stop Leadworth Registry Office. Maybe I can give you away."

"It's fine." Rory sighed. "Drop me back where you found me. I'll just say you've-"

"Stay." Amy cut in. "With us. Please. Just for a bit. I want you to stay."

Rory looked at the Doctor, Amy gave a pleading look towards him.

"Fine with me." He shrugged.

"Hollie?"

"Why would I be against it?" She questioned, chuckling at Amy who shrugged.

"Didn't want him to ruin all our fun."

The blonde snorted. "That's not possible. You coming then, Rory?"

"Really?" He looked at them before nodding. "Yes, I would like that."

"Nice one." Amy smiled kissing her fiancés lips. "I will pop the kettle on. Hey, look at this Nova. Got my spaceship, got my boys. My work here is done."

The girl chuckled along with Hollie as Rory. "Er, we are not her boys."

"Yeah, you are," Nova replied, quickly glancing between the Doctor and Hollie before snicking to herself.

"Yeah, we are." Rory corrected.

Nova smiled before suddenly falling to her knees. The Doctor quickly caught her as she fell.

Frowning Nova looked at her vortex manipulator. "Are you okay?" Hollie questioned.

The Doctor closely watched Nova. Who nodded while looking intently at the Vortex manipulator on her wrist. "I need to go, an important message from Cass."

"When will we see you again?" Hollie questioned.

"Not sure." She shrugged. "Bye!"

Nova quickly pressed a button on her Vortex Manipulator and disappeared.

Rory headed towards the TARDIS with Hollie and the Doctor following behind him.

"Rory, Hollie, listen to that." The Doctor stopped them.

"Er, what?" Rory frowned. "All I can hear is silence."

"Doctor?" Hollie questioned. The Doctor didn't say a word, he only frowned before guiding Hollie into the TARDIS, Rory following behind them.

---

With Amy showing Rory around the TARDIS, Hollie watched the Doctor under the console. "What happened earlier?" She questioned while holding a wire for him.

The Doctor stopped what he was doing and removed his protective goggles to look at the girl for a brief moment. "I don't know." He admitted before placing the goggles back over his eyes. "Whatever happened with Nova was..."

"Weird." She finished.

"Yeah." He nodded. "That." He took the held out wire. "Thanks."

"What did Rosanna mean earlier?" She questioned next. "What happened, Doctor?"

The Doctor looked at her again and took his goggles off as he sighed, opting to hang them around his neck. "Not getting out of this am I?"

"Sorry." She apologised.

The Doctor shook his head. "You deserve an explanation."

"But you don't deserve to be forced into it."

The Doctor smiled sadly at her before he paused for a moment and thought of where to begin. "It was a very long time ago. There was a big war against my race and the Daleks and everything was going to be destroyed if they weren't stopped so I made a choice. I took something I shouldn't and stopped the war but there was a cost, I destroyed both races my whole race died, there's no more Time Lords left, just me."

"But the Daleks-"

"Survived." He finished. "Yes, they did, there was only one, it escaped and was stuck on Earth, a man who only had the idea of making money in his head kept it and tortured it but then it escaped and almost killed everyone. I let it live."

"But it's a Dalek." She blinked. "You hate them?"

"Rose saw it differently and changed it." He smiled slightly.

"Rose was-"

"A friend." He replied. "She's gone now though." He sighed slightly. "But she's happy."

"It's good she's happy." Hollie took the Doctors hand and squeezed it for a moment. "Thank you for telling me about it."

"Thank you for listening Holliaet."

The blonde groaned before smiling as the Doctor let out a laugh, he then yelped as the TARDIS sparked. "Okay, okay." He patted the side.

Hollie giggled. "Sorry." She looked up at the TARDIS which let out a warm hum. The Doctor shook his head and continued with fixing the wiring while Hollie watched from beside him.

I think I'm prouder of that last scene more than I should be. It was rather nice to see one of the Trio after only meeting them in Flesh and Stone at the very end. They (as some of you probably have already guessed) will be jumping in and out of this series. You'll find out more about them as time goes on ;)
