WINSTON CHURCHILL
━━━━━∙⋆⋅⋆∙━━━━━

The Doctor pulled a lever before he danced around the TARDIS "Where are we now?" Hollie asked, looking at the Doctor who stopped moving around and looked at her.

"Take a look." The Time Lord grinned and gestured to the door.

Hollie smiled and ran to the door with the Doctor and Amy following her, she let out a squeak of surprise as she came face to face with four men in uniform pointing guns at her and her friend.

The Doctor exited the TARDIS and reassuringly patted the blonde's shoulder. "Amy, Hollie," the Doctor looked between the two humans before looking at a plump man who stepped past the four men with guns, "Winston Churchill."

"Doctor. Is it you?" Winston asked.

The Time Lord smiled and held out a hand, Winston did the same before making a beckoning motion. The Doctor laughed. "Oh, Winston, my old friend, he laughed. "Every time."

"What's he after?" Amy asked.

"TARDIS key, of course."

"Think of what I could achieve with your remarkable machine, Doctor. The lives that could be saved."

The Doctor headed back to the TARDIS and shut the door. "Ah, doesn't work like that."

"Must I take it by force?"

"I'd like to see you try." He replied.

"At ease," Winston ordered his men to lower the guns.

"You rang?" The Doctor questioned.

---

After Winstons men left the Time Lord, Amy Hollie and the man himself the four walked through the cabinet war rooms hallway with Winston leading the four. "So you've changed your face again," Winston stated as the room shook.

"Yeah, well, had a bit of work done." The Doctor remarked.

"Got it, got it, got it." Amy gleefully cut in. "Cabinet War Rooms, right?"

The Doctor nodded. "Yep. Top secret heart of the War Office, right under London."

"You're late, by the way," Winston stated.

"Requisitions, sir." A woman with a clipboard walked up to Winston and walked with him.

"Excellent." He took the board from her and passed his cane to the Doctor.

"Late?" The Doctor frowned checking his watch.

"I rang you a month ago."

Hollie giggled while the Doctor frowned. "Really?" He winced. "Sorry, sorry. It's a Type Forty TARDIS, it's. I'm just running her in."

"Something the matter, Breen? You look a little down in the dumps.

"No, sir." The woman forced a smile. Fine, sir."

"Action this day, Breen," Winston told her. "Action this day."

"Yes, sir." She nodded and walked off with the clipboard.

"Excuse me, sir." A man in a suit walked up to them. "Got another formation coming in, Prime Minister. Stukas, by the look of them."

"We shall go up top then, Group Captain?" Winston asked. "We'll give them what for." He turned to the Time Lord. "Coming, Doctor?"

The Doctor carefully watched the man. "Why?"

The Doctor took his cane back. "I have something to show you." He then walked off. The Doctor raised his eyebrows at both Hollie and Amy who giggled and followed him when he went after Winston.

The four entered a lift and the Doctor waved a hand beside his face, moving the smoke Winston was breathing out after using his pipe. "We stand at a crossroads, Doctor," he explained, "quite alone, with our backs to the wall. Invasion is expected daily. So I will grasp with both hands anything that will give us an advantage over the Nazi menace."

"Such as?

"Follow me," Winston told him as the lift stopped and the door opened. The three friends followed the man down a small corridor before they walked up a couple of steps, the light hit their faces and the Doctor squinted at the light while Hollie and Amy stared with wide eyes at the barrage balloons all over the city as the smoke rose.

"Wow," Amy whispered to her friend who nodded as Winston looked at a bold man in a white lab coat on top of the roof. "Doctor, this is Professor Edwin Bracewell." Winston introduced. "Head of our Ironsides Project."

The Doctor nodded and gave the man a victory salute. "

"Two flights JU thirty eights approaching from the east." A man stated using binoculars to look at the skies.

The Doctor Amy and Hollie walked towards the edge of the roof and looked out at the city. Hollie swallowed while Amy only stared at the sight before them. "Oh, Doctor," Amy whispered. "Doctor, it's-"

"History." The Time Lord quietly replied.

Hollie slowly nodded in agreement.

They all turned to Winston who looked at the man in the lab coat. "Ready, Bracewell?"

"Aye aye, sir. On my order," he stated before exclaiming: "Fire!"

The Doctor watched as multiple green lasers shot out from behind one of the walls on the roof. Hollie's mouth dropped open in surprise as every one of the lasers shot at its target.

"What was that?" Amy asked.

"That wasn't human." The Doctor stated staring up at where the lasers hit. "That was never human technology. That sounded like-" He stopped himself and walked towards the ladder. "Show me. Show me!" He shouted. "Show me what that was!"

"Advance," Bracewell ordered.

"Our new secret weapon." Winston laughed. "Ha!"

The Doctor stared in horror as the creature appears in front of him, even with a new coat of paint it was still the same, dangerous and evil creature he knew. Hollie stepped back slightly, not believing her eyes while Amy frowned at the moving salt shakers coming out from the emplacement.

"What do you think?" Winston asked. "Quite something, eh?"

The Doctors eyes darkened as he stepped towards the creature, looking straight into its eye. "What are you doing here?"

"I am your soldier." It stated in it's screeching voice.

"What?" The Doctor frowned.

"I am your soldier."

"Stop this." He exclaimed. "Stop now. Now, you know who I am." He snapped. "You always know."

"Your identity is unknown."

"Perhaps I can clarify things here." Bracewell stepped between the Doctor and the creature. "This is one of my Ironsides."

"Ironsides?" Hollie mouthed with a frown as the Doctor stared at him in disbelief. "Your what?"

"You will help the Allied cause in any way that you can," Bracewell told it.

"Yes." It agreed.

"Until the Germans have been utterly smashed."

"Yes."

"And what is your ultimate aim?"

"To win the war."

"No." Hollie and the Doctor both whispered to themselves while they stared at it.

---

Back in Winston's office, the Doctor paced around the room angrily. "They're Daleks." He told Winston. "They're called Daleks." Hollie shivered at the mention as Amy shook her head, not believing him.

"They are Bracewell's Ironsides, Doctor," Winston replied. "Look. Blueprints, statistics, field tests, photographs." He placed all the 'evidence' on the table. "He invented them."

"Invented them?" The Doctor chuckled. "Oh, no, no, no."

"Yes. He approached one of our brass hats a few months ago." He explained. "Fellow's a genius."

"A Scottish genius, too." Amy cut in. "Maybe you should listen to-"

The Doctor stopped Amy from finishing with a finger on her lips making her bat his hand away. "Shush. He didn't invent them. They're alien."

"Alien," Winston repeated.

They all stared as a Dalek moved passed the door, looking in and making Hollie step away from the door as the Doctor watched it go.

"And totally hostile." He added after it went.

"Precisely. They will win me the war."

The Doctor shook his head at the man. "Why won't you listen to me?" He asked. "Why did you call me in if you won't listen to me?"

"When I rang you a month ago, I must admit I had my doubts." He explained. "The Ironsides seemed too good to be true."

"Yes. Right." He nodded. "So destroy them. Exterminate them."

"Doctor." Hollie stared at him.

The Time Lord sighed. "Sorry."

"But imagine what I could do with a hundred." Winston chuckled. "A thousand."

"I am imagining."

"Amy, tell him." The Doctor nodded at the ginger.

"Tell him what?" She frowned.

"About the Daleks."

"What would I know about the Daleks?" She looked at him confused.

Hollie's jaw dropped.

"Everything." He added. "They invaded your world, remember? Planets in the sky. You don't forget that. Amy, tell me you remember the Daleks."

"No, sorry."

The Doctor looked at her in disbelief. "That's not possible."

---

The Doctor and Hollie stood close together while Amy stood slightly further away from them in the map room, the three watched the Daleks as they rolled around. "So, they're up to something." The Doctor spoke up. "But what is it? What are they after?"

"Well, let's just ask, shall we?" Amy shrugged walking towards one of the Daleks.

Hollie's eyes snapped up to watch her friend in horror while the Doctor shouted. "Amy. Amelia!" He sighed as Amy lightly tapped on one of the Daleks shells, making the creature turn its eyestalk to look at the ginger.

"Can I be of assistance?" It screeched.

"Oh. Yes." Amy nodded slightly taken back by how loud the creature was. "Yes. See, my friends reckon you're dangerous." She looked at Hollie who was almost as white as a piece of paper and the Doctor who wasn't looking any better. "That you're an alien. Is it true?"

"I am your soldier." It stated.

"Yeah. Got that bit. Love a squaddie." She remarked and frowned. "What else, though?"

"Please excuse me. I have duties to perform." The Dalek then moved away.

The Doctor spotted Winston and sighed, walking towards him. "Winston. Winston, please."

"We are waging total war, Doctor." He told the Time Lord. "Day after day the Luftwaffe pound this great city like an iron fist."

"Wait till the Daleks get started."

"Men, women and children slaughtered. Families torn apart. Wren's churches in flame."

"Yeah. Try the Earth in flames."

"I weep for my country. I weep for my empire. It is breaking my heart."

"And you'll weep for the whole world soon," Hollie added.

The Doctor looked at her and frowned slightly before he looked at Winston. "You're resisting, Winston. The whole world knows you're resisting. You're a beacon of hope."

"But for how long?" He questioned. "Millions of innocent lives will be saved if I use these Ironsides now."

"Can I be of assistance?" A Dalek rolled up to them.

"Shut it." The Doctor snapped, turning to face it, his finger pointing at the creature in anger as his face became dark. "Listen to me. Just listen. The Daleks have no conscience, no mercy, no pity. They are my oldest and deadliest enemy. You cannot trust them."

"If Hitler invaded hell, I would give a favourable reference to the Devil," Winston told him. "These machines are our salvation."

A siren blared from above and Winston sighed. "Oh, the All Clear. We are safe, for now."

Hollie swallowed hard and watched as one of the Daleks left with Winston. "Doctor, it's the All Clear." Amy told him. "You okay?"

"What does hate look like, Amy?" He asked.

"Hate?"

"It looks like a Dalek." He answered. "I'm missing something." He then frowned looking at Hollie who tilted her head at him. "Something staring me right in the face." He sighed and shook his head before walking off, the two girls quickly following. "I'm going to figure it out and I'm going to prove to you how hateful the Daleks are."

---

The Doctor with Hollie and Amy walked into Bracewells laboratory while the man had tea offered to him by a Dalek.

"All right, Prof." The Doctor walked in, picking a large spanner up as he wandered around the room. "Now, the PM's been filling me in. Amazing things, these Ironsides of yours." He gave a side glance at a Dalek. "Amazing. You must be very proud of them."

"Just doing my bit." Bracewell shrugged.

"Not bad for a Paisley boy," Amy commented with a smile.

"Yes, I thought I detected a familiar cadence, my dear." Bracewell smiled at Amy.

"How did you do it?" The Doctor asked with a raised brow as he swung the spanner around a bit. "Come up with the idea?"

"How does the muse of invention come to anyone?" He asked.

"But you get a lot of these clever notions, do you?" The Doctor added, his eyes narrowed slightly when the man dodged his question. Bracewell paused for a moment before he looked at the Time Lord.

"Well, ideas just seem to teem from my head." He explained, gesturing to his head as he smiled. "Wonderful things, like-" he ran over to a small table, blueprints scattered all over it. "Let me show you." He gestured for the Doctor to come closer. "Some musings on the potential of hypersonic flight." He pointed to a blueprint. The Doctor stared at him and Hollie looked over the Doctors shoulder, her eyes glued to the blueprints. "Gravity bubbles that can sustain life outside of the terrestrial atmosphere. Came to me in the bath."

"And are these your ideas or theirs?"

"Oh no, no, no." Bracewell shook his head, a smile on his lips. "These robots are entirely under my control, Doctor. They are-" one of the Daleks rolled up, a tray, teacup and saucer balanced on it it's weapons. "Thank you." Bracewell took the cup and saucer before continuing. "The perfect servant, and the perfect warrior."

"I don't know what you're up to, Professor, but whatever they've promised, you cannot trust them." The Doctor replied. "Call them what you like, the Daleks are death."

"Yes, Doctor." Winston cut in as he walked into the Laboratory. "Death to our enemies. Death to the forces of darkness, and death to the Third Reich."

"Yes, Winston, and death to everyone else too."

"Would you care for some tea?" A Dalek screeched, rolling up to the Doctor.

The Doctor growled in anger before knocking the tray onto the floor. "Stop this!" He exclaimed and walked towards it. "What are you doing here? What do you want?"

"We seek only to help you."

"To do what?"

"To win the war." The Doctor chuckled darkly, smiling at what he couldn't believe. "Really?" He raised a brow at the Dalek. "Which war?"

"I do not understand." The Dalek replied.

"This war, against the Nazis, or your war?" He shifted on his feet, attempting to keep his deep anger at bay. "The war against the rest of the Universe? The war against all life forms that are not Dalek?"

"I do not understand. I am your soldier."

"Oh, yeah?" He adjusted his grip on the large spanner. "Okay. Okay, soldier, defend yourself." He began to hit the Daleks shell. Hollie jumped at the noise and stood back with Amy while Winston's mouth opened in horror.

"Doctor, what the devil!" He shouted.

"You do not require tea?" The Dalek asked, not even phased by the Doctor hitting it.

"Stop him!" Bracewell shouted, looking back and forth from the Time Lord and Winston. "Prime Minister, please."

"Doctor, what the devil?" Winston repeated. "Please, these machines are precious."

"Come on!" The Doctor bellowed at it. "Fight back!" He snapped, still hitting it, over and over again. "You want to, don't you? You know you do."

"I must protest." Bracewell pleaded as the Doctor continued to smash the spanner at the Dalek.

"What are you waiting for?" The Doctor asked. "Look, you hate me. You want to kill me." He screamed, hitting the Dalek over and over. "Well, go on. Kill me. Kill me!"

"Doctor, be careful," Amy warned.

"Please desist from striking me." The Dalek calmly cut in as the Doctor continued to bash it. "I am your soldier."

"You are my enemy!" He shouted. "And I am yours." The Doctor stepped back, breathing heavily as he let his arm and the hammer hang. "You are everything I despise. The worst thing in all creation. I've defeated you time and time again. I've defeated you. I sent you back into the Void. I saved the whole of reality from you. I am the Doctor and you are the Daleks."

The Doctor stared and Hollie blinked as the Dalek replied in its screechy voice. "Correct. Review testimony."

"I am the Doctor and you are the Daleks." They heard in the Doctors voice.

"Testimony." The Doctor frowned. "What are you talking about, testimony?"

"Transmitting testimony now."

"Transmit what," the Doctor asked the Dalek, "where?"

"Doctor?" Hollie cautiously looked over at the Time Lord. "What is going on?"

"I-" He opened his mouth, snapping it shut as the Dalek spoke up. "Testimony accepted." It screeched.

The Doctors eyes widened and he pulled the blonde back with one hand, grabbing Amy with the other. "Get back!" He shouted at them, "all of you, get back!"

"Marines!" Winston shouted towards the door. "Marines, get in here."

They watched as two of the marines entered through the door only to get exterminated as soon as they entered the room.

"Stop it, stop it, please," Bracewell begged the Daleks. "What are you doing? You are my Ironsides."

"We are the Daleks." The Dalek corrected.

"But I created you." Bracewell frowned.

"No." The Dalek corrected before using it's Dalek gun to shoot at Bracewell's hand, the man didn't even cry out in pain as his hand sparked and was destroyed leaving wires and sparks behind. "We created you."

"Victory." The two Daleks chanted. "Victory. Victory!" The Daleks then disappeared in a bright light leaving the Doctor staring in the direction of where they were.

"What just happened, Doctor?" Amy asked, looking at the Time Lord.

"I wanted to know what they wanted." The Doctor muttered. "What their plan was. I was their plan." He stood still for a moment before running out.
"Doctor!" Hollie shouted running after him as Amy followed behind.

"Testimony accepted." The Doctor said as he ran into the filing room where the TARDIS was. "That's what they said. My testimony."

"Don't beat yourself up because you were right," Amy replied. "So, what do we do?" She asked as the Doctor unlocked the TARDIS door. "Is this what we do now? Chase after them?"

"This is what I do." He corrected. "yeah, and it's dangerous, so you wait here."

Hollie shook her head while Amy frowned. "What, so you mean we've got to stay safe down here in the middle of the London Blitz?" She scoffed.

"Safe as it gets around me." The Doctor answered and headed inside.

Hollie sighed and looked at Amy. "Text me if you need me."

"What are you doing?" She asked.

"Following the Doctor." She shrugged. "Something isn't right Ames, I'm going with him."

"But-"

"Trust me." She tightly hugged her friend. "Just this once, please."

"Okay." Amy sighed and let go of the blonde before watching her go inside the box.

"I told you two to stay there!" He shouted and looked up at the doors, his he blinked expecting Amy to be there as well.

"Dangerous, I know." Hollie walked towards the console. "I don't care. Something's not right and honestly, I'm scared about it."

The Time Lord frowned. "What do you mean?"

Hollie sighed and looked at her shoes before looking up at the Doctor. "Remember when Amy couldn't remember the Daleks?"

"Yeah?"

"Well, I can." She swallowed hard. "All of it, the moving planets, the screeching salt shakers, everything."

"How?" He frowned. "How can you remember but Amy can't?"

"I don't know." She shrugged. "That's why I'm scared because what if they did something to Amy without us realising it, what if they wiped her mind or something, what if they made her a Dalek?"

The Doctor shook his head. "The Daleks can't wipe peoples minds Holls and I would have noticed if they did something to your friend but whatever they have done I promise you that I will fix it.

Hollie nodded in agreement. "So how can I help?"

The Doctor sighed. "I'm not going to convince you back in there am I?"

"Nope." She replied and leaned onto the console. "You're stuck with me Doctor."

"Oh good." He rolled his eyes. "I thought Amy was the stubborn one."

Hollie snorted. "You clearly don't know me very well then, Doctor."

The Time Lord chuckled before growing serious. "Do exactly what I say and we'll be fine... hopefully." He then pulled a lever and pulled the scanner around to face him and Hollie after the TARDIS dematerialised, they watched as the screen flickered before a small Dalek ship appeared on it.

"Is that-" Hollie stared at it.

"Yeah." He nodded. "That's a Dalek ship."

---

"Prime Minister." Blanche walked up to Winston.

"Yes?"

"Signal from RDF, sir." She added. "Unidentified object. Hanging in the sky, Captain Childers says. We can't get a proper fix, though. It's too far up."

"What do you think, Miss Pond?" Winston looked at Amy. "The Doctor's in trouble and now we know where he is."

"Yeah." Amy nodded. "Because he'll be on that ship, won't he. Right in the middle of everything with my best friend." She swallowed hard. "I hope Hollie knows what she's doing..."

Winston nodded. "That girl seems smart, I think she knows exactly what she's doing."

"I hope so," Amy added.

---

Hollie stepped out of the TARDIS after the Doctor, slowly following the Time Lord who cautiously walked towards a gold Dalek on the ship. "How about that cuppa now, then?" The Doctor asked.

"It is the Doctor."

"Exterminate!" The green Dalek exclaimed Hollie's eyes widened as she stepped closer to the Doctor who quickly reached into his pocket and pulled out a biscuit. "Wait, wait, wait. I wouldn't if I were you." He gestured to the jammy dodger in his hand. TARDIS self-destruct, and you know what that means. My ship goes, you all go with it."

"You would not use such a device." The Dalek on the left stated.

The Doctor raised an eyebrow at the alien. "Try me."

The Dalek on the right rolled forward and the Doctor raised his hands. "Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah." He warned. "No scans. No nothing. One move and I'll destroy us all, you got that?" He asked. "TARDIS bang bang, Daleks boom!" The Dalek on the right slowly rolled back to where it was. "Good boy." The Doctor smiled and gave Hollie a quick glance. "This ship's pretty beaten up." He wondered around. "Running on empty, I'd say, like you." He nodded at the two. "When we last met, you were at the end of your rope. Finished."

"One ship survived."

"And you fell back through time, yes." The Time Lord added. "Crippled, dying."

"We picked up a trace." The Dalek on the left stated. "One of the Progenitor devices."

"Progenitor?" The Doctor frowned. "What's that when it's at home?"

"It is our past and our future."

"Oh? That's deep." The Doctor hummed. "That is deep for a Dalek. What does it mean, though?"

"It contains pure Dalek DNA." The gold Dalek answered. "Thousands were created. All were lost, save one."

Hollie frowned. "What about Bracewell?" She asked, looking at the Doctor.

The Time Lord clicked his fingers and looked at the blonde. "Yes." He agreed. "Hollie's right." He grinned at the woman before looking at the Daleks. "If you've got the Progenitor, why build Bracewell?"

"It was necessary."

"But why?" He frowned before his eyes widened. "I get it. Oh, I get it." He chuckled. "I get it."

"I don't?" Hollie frowned not understanding what he was going on about."

"Oh ho!" The Doctor shook his head. "Hollie this is rich." He walked over to her. "The Progenitor wouldn't recognise them." He looked at the Daleks. "Would it?" He asked. "It saw you as impure. Your DNA is unrecognisable as Dalek."

"A solution was devised." The green Dalek answered.

"Yes, yes, yes." He nodded. "Me. My testimony. So you set a trap. You knew that the Progenitor would recognise me, the Daleks' greatest enemy. It would accept my word. My recognition of you."

"Erm, Doctor." Hollie called spotting the other green Dalek with its sucker on part of the ship's controls."

The Doctor spun around and his eyes widened. "No. No, no. What are you doing?"

"Withdraw now, Doctor, or the city dies in flames." The gold Dalek stated.

The Doctor scoffed and rolled his eyes at the Daleks. "Who are you kidding? This ship is a wreck. You don't have the power to destroy London. L"

"Watch as the humans destroy themselves." The Dalek stated, the Doctor stared and Hollie looked over at the Doctor not sure what the Dalek meant.
