A Chapter| Chapter Ten
warning- steamy again.
Lila tossed in her sleep slightly, not getting home until late. With her not sleeping the night before, Lila somehow fell asleep immediately, but that didn't mean her mind wasn't racing. She turned multiple times that night, thinking back to what Rafe said to her and then to him hurting JJ and then Pope the day before. She thought about how he threw Kie off Topper, the bruise on her back matching JJ's and Pope's.
Lila felt something touching her face as her sleep, swatting it away in her sleep. Then it came back, Lila slightly opened her eyes, not thinking anything of it. The blonde gasped as she saw someone sitting infront of her, sitting up straight she sighed when she realized who it was.
"Rafe, what are you doing here? How'd you get in here?" Lila asked as she calmed down once again, slightly anyway. He stared at her, scanning her face as her hands ran circles on her thighs. Lila was far to tired and too confused do stop him, rubbing her eyes as she waiting for him to say something.
"Will you come with me?" he asked her, stopping his hand motion as he looked over at her.
"Where?" Lila asked him confused again, the moonlight the only light coming in to radiate his features. Lila felt a pang or guilt when she saw the small gash on his bottom lip.
"Come on." Rafe said as he stood, his feet loud as he walked toward the door. Lila hesitated to follow him, pulling on a pair of shorts before she snuck out of the guest house. His truck was started out in the front, the light on the inside on as his thumbs drummed on the steering wheel.
Lila felt emotional as she stared at him, she felt ashamed. Rafe Cameron wasn't a good person, she'd realized that now. She realized why her friends told her to stay away from him now, and maybe she should have listened. But it was too late now, Lila was far too deep with Rafe that there didn't seem to be any way of pulling her back.
Lila pulled the door opened as his head snapped her way, waiting for her to get in completely before before putting the truck in drive. Lila looking out at the dark windows, "Where are we going?"
"You asked that already." Rafe said back to her, nodding toward her seat belt as she pulling it on. Looking at him again in the darkness, once again the moon illuminating the both of them just the right amount. Rafe drove one one hand, no one on the road at two in the morning. His other arm rested on the console, the black ring around his ring finger.
Rafe looked at Lila in the corner of his eye, seeing her eyeing his hand slightly. Lila blinked when he turned it over, wiggling his fingers at her in a way of telling her it was okay if she wanted to hold his hand. Lila heisted, looking at his side profile to watch him keep his eyes on the road the whole time. The blonde put her smaller hand in his, their hands molding together so perfectly and so quickly. Her fingers laced within his, rubbing one of them over the cold metal of the rings.
She now looked at him once again, the small mark on his lip a faint red. For something so small it bothered Lila, knowing she was the one to put it there. Maybe she shouldn't feel that way, there was two bruises on her face from him. But she did anyone, because that's how she was, because she cared about him.
"What?" Rafe asked, turning toward her a little as Lila looked away. His hand gripped hers harder as he took a turn toward the docks, the multiple boats lining the water. Lila counted each of them as his car slowed down.
"Are you planning on dumping my body in the ocean? I'll have you know my friends are experienced in diving." Lila said to him as she heard Rafe chuckle slightly as he put the truck in park, pulling out the key as he let her hand go.
"I'm not dumping your body." he said while getting out of the truck. Lila hesitated once again before she groaned and got out of the car. Rafe undid the boat as he stepped on, pushing the small opening as Lila followed after him. Rafe lead the way up the steps, Lila close behind him, watching her footing incase she tripped and embarrassed herself.
Once they made it to the top, Rafe sat down, turning the key as the boat started with a low roar as the lights in the front lit up. The water was a dark color, the dark sky barely had any stars, the moon the only source of light for the two. Lila got distracted looking out at the water once the boat started to move, Rafes left hand slightly grabbing her hips made her look back.
He waved her over as she slumped down in his lap, exactly the way they were the night of the party. Sitting on his left knee with her legs thrown over the right, her arms around his shoulders as she laid her head in the crook of his neck. Once Rafe got more out into the water, he drove with one hand, his spare one around Lilas back so she wouldn't fall. Lila felt peaceful in the moments, no matter how much she shouldn't have.
Once they got far out Rafe let the boat float on its own, his now empty hand laying on Lilas legs, rubbing small circles on her knees. Lila sighed loudly as she pulled her head from his shoulder to look down at him slightly, "I'm sorry for kicking you in the face."
"I'm sorry for grabbing your face." he said back to her, looking up at her with softer eyes, rubbing circles on her lower back.
"Why do you keep hurting my friends?" Lila now asked, laying her head back down as he pulled her closer to him.
"I don't know." he answered her honestly, trying to even his breathing with hers. Lila sighed, she didn't know a lot of things either.
"Will you stop?" Lila questioned him now, wanting his honest answer. She knew there was only a fifty percent chance he'd tell her the truth, another fifty that he'd lie to her again. But she also knew she was gonna believe him for whatever he was gonna say.
"Yeah, I can try." he admits, and Lila believed him. Shutting her eyes she listened to his heartbeat, counting the beats until he spoke again. Lila felt bad for being around Rafe, she felt terrible actually. But she couldn't help it, she truly couldn't help but wanna constantly be in the presents of Rafe Cameron. After he hurt her friends, after he hurt her, here she was..... with him once again.
"I hate my dad." Rafe suddenly said as Lila sat up quickly, looking down at him with worry.
"What happened?" Lila asked, her eyes scanning his for any sign of hurt. Rafe shook his head, continuing to run circles on her.
"He just doesn't see me, you know? And it makes me mad and then I do stuff and I don't mean to, I just want you to know that." Rafe shook his head as Lila grabbed the sides of his face, rubbing her thumbs across his cheek bones. Rafe leaned onto her left hand more as she kept his head up right, shaking her head.
"I'm sorry about your dad, but I see you. I don't know if that makes you feel any better but I do." Lila explained as she looked down at him, a small smile forming on her lips. There was the emotions again, hitting her so quickly as she looked down at him as if he was the only person to walk the planet.
"It does." Rafe admits, a tiny smile on his face as his nose bumped hers.
"Sometimes I think my moms blame me for stuff, like they don't see that i'm hurting." Lila said as Rafe frowned his eyebrows up at her, not expecting that to come out of her mouth.
"Blame you for what?" he asked, watching as her face fell as she let his face go and blinked a few times.
"Just some stuff happened back at home, the village. It was my fault what happened, and I feel so much guilt for it, every day of my fucking life. And they don't see that, they don't see it because maybe they're too busy wanting to blame me." Lila said, never once saying it to anyone else, feeling good to finally say it out loud.
"What happened?" Rafe asked her and for a second Lila almost told him, almost spoke on the topic she was yet to admit to anyone in the OBX. But she didn't, she couldn't.
"Another time." Lila said as Rafe nodded his head, understanding as he pulled her closer to him. A mix between a smirk and a grin formed on his face as he looked up at her slightly, knocking his nose with hers again.
Lila leaned down and peaked his lips before doing it once again, and then again until he laughed making her grin.
"Let's go in the water." Lila said with a exciting look on her face, standing from his lap as she hurried down the steps.
"Lila, the waters freezing. We're gonna get hypothermia." Rafe said as he stood up, watching as she jumped off the next few steps.
"I'm going!" Lila called out, her voice slightly muffled until there was a loud splash moments later.
"Jesus fuck." Rafe groaned as he walked down the steps, missing every other one as he looked down at the tee shirt and shorts before over the boat to see Lila kicking her legs.
"I'm so over you throwing yourself off of boats." Rafe said to her with a annoyed look, pushing his shoes off.
"I get sea sick." Lila admits, watching him pull his shirt off, the swim shorts already on him as he walked toward the edge.
"It's a lot easier over here, dumbass." Rafe said to her as Lila laughed loudly at his words, watching him swim over toward her.
"It's not that cold." Lila said, her teeth chattering as Rafe pulled her toward him with force, her legs wrapping around his waist as his held her thighs.
"You sure?" he asked her, nodding toward her chattering teeth as Lila nodded, gripping his shoulders while she wrapped her arms around him in a hug. He hugged her back in the water, leaning on her head some while trailing his hands down her back.
"Did you mean all that stuff you said earlier? At the movie?" Lila asked, the burning question not being able to be held back any more. Lila pulled her head back to look down at him, lacing his hands together around his neck.
"Which part?" Rafe asked her, water droplets scattered over his face as his hair stuck to his forehead slightly.
"All of it." Lila admits honestly, her legs tightening around his waist. Truth was Lila didn't know, she never knew if he was being serious or if he was lying to her, the change of moods in under a minute throwing her off.
"Yeah, why do you ask?" Rafe now asked her, his eyebrows frowned as he looked up at her confused.
"I can't tell what's real or fake with you." Lila said, a slap of fear hitting her, scared her words might have been gasoline to the fire. Rafes jaw clenched slightly as he looked away from her face, opening his mouth to say something with a glare on his face.
And then her hands where on his face.
Her touch calmed him down immediately, his body becoming less tense once again as his eyes softened. Lila looked down at him in reassurance, rubbing her fingers over his skin. Rafe stared at her for a second, his chest moving with hers in the slightest.
"With you, everything's real. So, don't worry about that. Things are different with you, you know this." Rafe said with a clear of his throat, and then her hands were gone from his face. Rafes eyes snapped to hers worried as she did so, a unreadable expression on her face. For a second he almost regretted his words before a small formed on her face.
Grabbing his face again she kissed him, every bad memory of the boy washing away with the tide. Her arms wrapped tighter around his shoulders, pushing her lips into his as much as she could. His hands gripped her legs around him tighter, the sudden squeeze making Lila jump slightly before she pulled her lips back, connected them to his neck.
"We need to stop." Rafe said suddenly, yanking her back as Lila looked down at him with sad eyes, a pout on her lips.
"Why? What's wrong?" the blonde asked worried, her pupils blown slightly as her hands stayed on Rafes shoulders.
"I don't have anything with me." he said quickly, his fingers digging into her thighs at a painful rate but it was the last thing she was thinking about.
"It's fine, just pill out." Lila shook her head connecting their lip again before she pulled back quickly, "Unless you don't want to."
"Shut up." Rafe said to her with a grin, making her smile as their lips connected again.
Anyone would be crazy to deny Lila.
The small bed that was placed in the Cameron's boat had been an addition a few years ago when Ward would go night fishing. It wasn't used often, placed in a small area that was crammed together. But it would be used on that night, by two people who were so addicted to each other they had no clue how unhealthy it would become sooner rather then later.
Lila back crashed into the white sheets, the fabric against her freezing body sending goosebumps down her arms. The sound of the ocean hitting the boat seemed like back ground music to her, so soft yet intense all at once. The glow of the moon shined through the open window, radiating her a nice blue color as Rafes hands ran up the sides of her body.
The Cameron boy hover over Lilas body, her eyes fluttering shut as his lips traced the same spots he did a few days ago, the soft grape color turning into a dark plum color once again. Lilas leg was around his waist again, pulling him as close to her as she could. The bikini top was pulled down her shoulders as his mouth moved down her body.
Lilas eyes opened as she stared up at the ceiling, her body squirming slightly. Her mind was racing, telling her so many things. Telling her every bad things about the boy, reminding her that just a few hours ago she was applying ice to her friends that he hurt. But she couldn't stop, no matter what he did, she couldn't stay away from Rafe Cameron no matter what he did.
Lila used her knee to bump him slightly, giving him the hint to come back up to her. And he did, elbows rested on either side of her head. Lila looked up at his eyes, the first thing she noticed about him, her favorite feature. A grin spreading across her face as he gave her one back, leaning down to kiss her again.
Lila used her hands to push him slightly, switching positions as her hands found his, resting them beside his head slightly. She was the one to lean down now, her legs tightening around his lap as their lips met again. Lila could feel Rafes left hand moving oddly, making her unlock that hand while pressed soft peaks to the side of his face and to his neck. A cold sensation hit her hand for a second, not thinking anything of it at the time but Rafe knew, he knew what he did.
The expensive black ring he'd wear around his ring finger constantly, now pushed onto her thumb.
