Inside the library

For an hour, Kyla sat in one corner of the library, waiting for Hoseok to arrive. She glanced at the small box filled with Hoseok's favourite cupcakes, "You like testing my patience," she remarked while sighing.

Picking up her phone, she started scrolling through her social media account, and grinned to the number of likes on her hottest post of the month, "damn! I do look hot!"

Shortly after, she felt a presence beside her. Kyla's eyes lit up when her gaze met Hoseok's, "You came."

Hoseok remained silent, as he arranged his books. To gain his attention Kyla attempted to present his favourite cupcakes, but Hoseok had already made up his mind, as he said, "I've decided."

Kyla's smile faded, "Oh you had," she paused before adding, "Tell me then."

"I don't think you are the right person to accept help from," Hoseok paused and glanced at Kyla for some milliseconds. Kyla removed her gaze from his and nodded in disappointment, accepting the dismissal of her proposal.

"But it's the only option left for me so," Hoseok further added making Kyla smile and squeal in happiness.

"Thank you Hoseok! Thanks for trusting me just once."

"I'm only doing this for Y/n, that's it. Now tell me what have you thought?" Hoseok asked with a straight face, but the softness on his features was visible only for the moment when Y/n's name slipped out of his mouth.

Kyla's muscles twitched at the mention of her name so lovingly from his mouth. Moreover, she continued, "So it's the second day already since Y/n's absence but nobody noticed... I mean, she's not me so," Hoseok shrugged at her last sentence.

"Anyways, I have decided to spread the news that I and Y/n have reconciled long back, and so she told me that she's leaving for her hometown because of an emergency."

Kyla finished her sentence while Hoseok racked his brain for a minute, thinking of the possible outcomes of this idea, "What if professors rang a call to her house?" He asked, making Kyla scoff in response.

"You think I'm sitting here with just a thought? I'm THE KYLA CHOI, Hoseok have you forgotten?"

"Yeah, the Kyla Choi, infamous for her impolite behaviour."

Rolling her eyes, Kyla responded, "Whatever."

She then proceeded to take out an envelope from her bag and slid it towards him, "This is the application for her emergency leave."

Hoseok opened the envelope and started reading it, "Are these initials the same as Y/n?"

"Yeah, when we were close friends, we used to scribble in our notebooks and that's how I copied it."

"You wrote that her mother is hospitalized from... CANCER!"

"Yeah! That's how it'll look more realistic, and it's our last few months before we graduate, and nobody's gonna care after that."

Hoseok grimaced with his furrowed brows but Kyla just winked in his direction, satisfied with her response.

In the Kim's Mansion

Inside SeokJin's room, the low-centric wooden table was a feast for the eyes and buds in the mouth, adorned with an array of vibrant and enticing delicacies.

Y/n was busy setting the table, her gaze admired the hand-painted ceramic bowls, each one unique in its design, waiting to be filled with steaming rice or fragrant soups. Side dishes filled the space, each one a work of art on its own to accompany the main dish.

Kimchi, with its fiery red hue, sat alongside pickled radishes and crunchy cucumber slices, their refreshing flavours promising a burst of tanginess.

She gently placed the steaming bowl of Sundubu jjigae, a silky tofu stew, at the centre stage, its rich aromas wafting through the air, reaching her nose and tempting her taste buds.

Next, as Ajumma instructed her, she placed the platters of grilled meats which added a smoky and savory element to the table.

A pot filled with fluffy white rice sat at the centre of the table, ready to be paired with the exotic flavours of comforting soups and broths.

Tteokbokki, chewy rice cakes coated in spicy sauce, provided a fiery kick that contrasted with the mild flavours of the mandus that she placed beside it. Y/n hid her smirk as she glanced at the mandus sitting delightfully on the table, which were not very mild in their flavours today.

Y/n stood up and looked upon the table filled with delicacies. Her mouth watered, and her senses overwhelmed with anticipation.

Soon, both SeokJin and Namjoon appeared from the opposite directions entered, and sat across the low wooden table from each other.

SeokJin filled his bowl with sundubu jjigae and took the first sip while Namjoon opted for rice along with some kimchi.

Soon after, both of their chopsticks went in the direction of the grilled chunks of meat, Y/n grimaced with hunger and observed their actions, waiting for her triumphed moment.

"Y/n, did you eat something?" Jin asked while shoving a spoonful of rice in his mouth.

Shaking her head, Y/n responded, "I'll eat later."

"No join us," SeokJin said with a pouting mouth filled with food and big pleading eyes.

Y/n gaped at SeokJin and found him adorable. If there weren't any food platters around, she would've jumped straight to squeeze his cheeks.

"Y/n?"

"Huh? No, it's fine. You can eat first. I'll dine with Ajumma later."

"Better," Namjoon scoffed, making Y/n roll her eyes.

Feeling guilt-ridden for including Jin along with that son of a gun, she decided to warn him of the spice level, "Jin--"

Unfortunately, the dumpling had already gone inside Jin's mouth. His eyes widened and Namjoon curiously asked his brother, "What? Hyung! Is it good?"

Jin remained silent surely not able to word his sentence from the sudden spice blast in his mouth. Namjoon repeated his brother's action and shoved a mandu in his mouth.

.

.

"Agh! Who, made this!? It s-so, aghh water! Hyung water! f-fast, give it to me!" Namjoon said with wide eyes, as his tongue was shoving out. He snatched away the bottle from Jin's hand who was already busy drinking.

Y/n giggled while standing, but she was secretly in the dilemma of enjoying Namjoon's form or regretting over letting Jin taste the high spice.

Namjoon drank the whole water from the bottle, his flustered senses now settling down, "Yah hyungnim! Why didn't you tell me it's hella spicy!"

"You were the reason," Jin said while eating rice to neutralize the active spice receptors in his buccal cavity.

"What?" Namjoon asked, confused, while breathing heavily, still tolerating the spice level.

"You were the reason for all this, bastard! If I suffered, you must suffer too."

Namjoon grimaced at Jin, feeling victimized; with an innocent gaze, he spoke, "But what have I done!?"

This was the first time Y/n saw this look on Namjoon's features, unlike his usual dead-pan face. She held back her laughter from the two brother's constant bickering, and Jin yelled again.

"You pissed off Y/n so much that I had to suffer with you!"

Y/n's smile faded when she saw Namjoon glaring at her.

"So it was you," Namjoon said with a straight face.

"I'm very bad at quantities, maybe I added some more red chilli paste," Y/n said nonchalantly, with a balanced tone to piss him off even more.

"Really? Hyung she needs a punishment, I'll-"

"Shut up!" Jin said, shutting Namjoon.

"Y/n, if it was for him, I would have enjoyed your plan because lately, he needs treatment, but now that you included me as well, you'll have to repay," Jin said while shoving a spoonful of silky tofu stew in his mouth.

"Your pay for today is cut off and you are ordered to make us a sweet pumpkin porridge."

"That's like my hyung!" Namjoon chimed in satisfaction.

"No. I'll prepare the porridge, but don't cut my pay, Jin!" Y/n pleadingly added.

"No excuses Y/n. You can go now!"

Jin further added and Y/n scowled at him, stomping forward in fury.

"These brothers! Even their actions are similar. They just keep on ordering me! I'm gonna sue them someday."

The siblings quietly listened to Y/n's blabbering from afar and continued to eat. The moment Y/n left, the air in the room changed from jovial to something denser.

The thick atmosphere between the brothers was filled with silence, "Did you find a way?" Namjoon asked breaking it.

"I did go to the royal library but," SeokJin shook his head, "Found nothing."

"Did you discuss it with Taehyung?" SeokJin further asked.

"Not yet, I couldn't meet him today."

Seokjin sighed, "We cannot let her stay here forever. We gotta find a way without letting the authorities know."

"We are the authorities," Namjoon said with his eyes focused on the tteokbokki in front of them.

"I meant, the ministers."

Namjoon hummed in response.

"H-hy-, I-I'll talk to Taehyung as soon as possible," Namjoon blurted while stuttering from the word he doesn't like using anymore but still uses unconsciously. Fortunately, Jin noticed what he was about to say before nodding.
