Prologue

THE FORCE FELT . . . OFF on this planet. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi couldn't put in any other way. Dylkogh was a green planet, with lots of forests, oceans and sunshine, but the disturbance in the Force cast a long shadow over it to those who could sense it.

Obi-Wan steered his starfighter closer to the planet's surface and the red with white astro droid R4-P17 beeped. He nodded, he had seen it too: the tower of the Separatists was farther up ahead. It was the reason why he was here and he dropped the ship even lower to the ground. He had to stay under the radar, and get close enough to the tower. However, he hadn't quite thought about the forest that surrounded the tower. With his lips tightly pressed together in concentration, Obi-Wan zigzagged between the tree trunks.

'I hate flying,' he muttered when the end of a branch scratched his starfighter. Flying was Anakin's specialty, not his, but then he spotted a perfect landing spot, hopefully not too far away from the tower. He folded out the landing gear and with a soft thud, the ship landed.

Obi-Wan took a few moments to catch his breath and regain his calm demeanor. While running a hand through his hair, he listened if he could hear any aircrafts. But apart from the rustling wind and the animals' sounds in the wood, it was silent. He concluded so far everything was good: he hadn't been spotted by the Separatists and they didn't know he was here.

The glass roof of the starfighter opened with a whoosh and Obi-Wan breathed in the fresh, earthly air. It must have rained not so long ago. He exited the ship and spun around slowly to observe the bluish-grey sky above the meadow.

There. He hummed thoughtfully when he saw the dark roof towering high above the forest. It wasn't like the typical buildings of the Separatists; from the outside you couldn't even see the technological highlights that distinguished them. The Separatists had simply taken residence in the ancient tower with the Dylkoghian architecture. Their Senator had been rather upset when he had told the Republic about their problem. Just like Mandalore they had tried to stay away from the War by not picking a side, but now that the Separatists had invaded their home with force, they could no longer stay neutral.

Obi-Wan cast his thoughts away when R4 bleeped softly several times as she left the starfighter and joined at her master's side.

'Yes, Arfour,' Obi-Wan agreed, 'I have a bad feeling about this too.' He double checked if he had his lightsaber and then he started running towards the tower with R4 close behind him.

OBI-WAN GRIMACED when he heard the all too familiar sound of the rolling droidekas behind him. They must have tripped a silent alarm. Infiltrating the tower hadn't been a problem, but leaving it might become one.

He felt laser bolts shooting towards him and he quickly called the lightsaber to his hand. His brown cloak billowed out around him as he turned around and reflected the bolts back to the droidekas. However, they couldn't penetrate the blue energy shields that protected them.

'Hurry up, Arfour,' he said while he reflected even more bolts. Some red lasers hit the stone walls next to them and left smoking, black holes. The Senator of Dylkogh was not going to like that.

'Quickly!' he shouted, he wanted to leave this place and preferably in one piece.

R4 beeped and withdrew her data-probe, de-activating her link with the main computer.

'You have the plans? Excellent.' Obi-Wan used the Force to push the droidekas away. They soared through the hall, colliding with the walls and landing with a metallic crash on the floor, but it wouldn't stop them for long.

He ran towards the nearest opening, but as he rounded the corner, he barely managed to dodge the weapon of the magna guard. The purple energy crackled above his head as he ducked under the scepter that swung his way.

'Go, Arfour. Make for the ship,' he ordered. The blue lightsaber reflected in his eyes as he locked it with the scepter and R4 shot between the battle droids.

'Stop that astromech droid,' the magna guard said with a monotone voice, and kicked Obi-Wan in his stomach. He grunted but spun away to avoid being hit by the purple energy at either end of the scepter.

'Roger, roger,' the battle droids said in unison and pursued R4.

Obi-Wan didn't worry, though; he knew R4 was faster than the droids. His lightsaber hummed through the air as he swung it around, trying to find an opening in the magna guard's defense.

Their weapons crackled when they collided once more and that's when Obi-Wan saw it in his mind: the flaw. He jumped over the magna guard and cut off one of its arms. The scepter fell on the ground and before the guard could use its foot to kick it back to its other arm, Obi-Wan cut off the foot and the second arm. The magna guard was still standing with just one limb left, but not for long. Obi-Wan's lightsaber cut through its middle and then he stabbed it through its head.

He allowed himself to smile down upon the defeated magna guard for a moment, but then he ran after R4 while he retracted his lightsaber.

Obi-Wan neared the exit but there he was greeted by three other magna guards. Their red eyes landed upon him and a bit reluctant, he drew his lightsaber again. At least R4 was nowhere to be seen which meant she had made it outside. She would make it back to Coruscant even if he couldn't.

✧✧

THE ELECTRICITY STILL TRAVELED through his body and restricted his movements as Obi-Wan stumbled towards his starfighter. He had managed to take out the three magna guards but not before being zapped by one of their scepters.

'Fire up the engines, Arfour,' he said while climbing into the cockpit with difficulty. R4 turned her dome-shaped head to her master and beeped. The glass roof closed and Obi-Wan could feel the rumble of the engines beneath him. He clutched his painful side and closed his eyes for a moment as the starfighter took off but when they were above the trees, the display in front of him flashed red.

Obi-Wan grabbed the steering wheel and pulled it harshly to the right to dodge the lasers coming their way. The starfighter spun around its axis and for a split second, the trees were above them and the sky below. They flew towards the atmosphere while Obi-Wan did his best not to be shot out of the sky.

'Calculate the jump, Arfour, now,' he ordered and when they were out of the atmosphere and in space, the starfighter jumped away from Dylkogh in lighting speed, back to Coruscant.

A/N:

so. . . I'm still waiting on a few forms but I really want to start, which means I will start writing the first chapter with the characters I do have.

if by the time I have finished writing it and I still don't have the missing forms, I can't guarantee your character will make it into the story.

also, I've never written a star wars fanfiction before (or science fiction for that matter), but I think the prologue turned out quite well?
