"SUPERHERO INFLUENCER 'A-BOMB' BLASTS ON INTERVIEW"
"HERO OR ZERO? A-BOMB RISKS ENTIRE CAREER ONTO AN INTERVIEW"
"LA's SWEETHEART 'A-BOMB' NOW MOST FEARED."
Y/N's POV
???: Turn it off.
I heard my friend say from behind my sofa, I turn around slightly to see it was Andy. He had a sorrowful expression on his face but I didn't care. I turn the television that was playing headlines about me off and sat further back.
Why did it have to come across this way?
What am I doing with my life?
My best friend sits right beside me, and I simply shut my eyes, not wanting to see my blue hands.
Andy: What happened man?
Y/N: I can't... revert back...
I mumble, it was true... I couldn't revert back to human form before the interview, when I realised A-Bomb wasn't the life I wanted to lead.
It was too late now, I had made my decision.
Now, I'm just a brand.
Andy: I'm talking about the interview, what got you so riled up?
Y/N: THIS! FUCKING A-BOMB!
I shouted at him, making him flinch... I looked down in regret of my decisions.
Y/N: For the first time, I was doing better... I met someone who really appreciated me for who I was, didn't want me to be this blue hunk of shit... but guess what, I pushed her away too.
Andy doesn't say anything, but he closens his way and ends up infront of me. I don't look at him and continue looking down.
I felt so bad for Jennifer, and now she thinks even worse for me. I was trapped in this cycle of publicity, and I couldn't be normal, everyone knows who I am... I need to get out.
I need to get out.
Andy: Can you just listen to-
Y/N: No Andy! I can't! I'm sick... I can't do this anymore. I can't keep up with this fake persona...
I got up and walked past the man, ignoring him even though he had a speechless expression.
Opening the front door, I didn't hesitate to run out before leaping with my super jump across the city, avoiding everything at all costs.
I must find a doctor.
While in the air, I looked below at the citezens of LA, this was a cruel city. And filled with hundreds of phoneys.
My mind was only focused on Jennifer, the woman who I threw away because I felt I wasn't good enough, I should've listened to her.
But now, she probably doesn't want to listen to me either. It feels like I have no one left.
Once I safely landed on a building, I zipped up my hoodie and pulled the hood over my head... but then something caught my eye.
A billboard for a superhuman medical consultant.
I squint and pull my phone out, typing out the number and giving it a call.
-
A few hours later
I was in a very small and plain office, sitting on a medical bed while a man, hench and brunette with a lab like coat and glasses was looking through some paper work.
After running some tests on me.
I watched in anticipation, waiting to see what Dr. Hank McCoy had to tell me.
He got up from his chair and made his way towards me, sighing and handing me the papers.
Portrayed by Henry Cavill
Hank: Well, Mr L/N. After running some tests, I can only find correlations with stress and anxiety.
Y/N: Makes sense, I'm pretty stressed.
I scoff and shake my head. Looking through the diagnostics on the sheet.
Hank: I actually had a similar patient. He couldn't sleep, some talks about not being able to be Spider-Man anymore in 'his dream'... it's an identity crisis. You need to balance those lives out... or, you end up in a trap.
He explains and I nod, my frown softening as I try to calm down, and think happy thoughts.
Hank: If I'm being honest, I think A-Bomb has been a great role model, especially to people who see themselves in him.
Y/N: What? What's so common about him? Being blue.
I said with a confused expression, I had grown such a disdain to A-Bomb, I hated it so much now.
Hank: Perhaps... yes. More and more discoveries are made about people who are different. Call them... Mutations. And the thing is, they are among us already, and we have to be there to protect them from bigoted and discriminative people.
The man smiled brightly, and patted my shoulder. I nodded slowly and got up from the bed.
Hank: I'll see you around, Y/N.
Y/N: We'll see, Dr. McCoy.
Hank: Please, call me Hank.
Y/N: Okay. I'll see you around, Hank.
I smiled a little before leaving the man's small medical center. Upon doing so, I remembered someone who I hadn't seen in a while ever since I came back from Afghanistan.
My heart thumped remembering my Ma, she was everything to me and I kinda pushed her out of my life.
Luckily, she lived quite nearby so I could probably head there and hopefully get some words of encouragement after getting beat with her slipper.
-
I gulped seeing the brown door to my childhood home, a lot of my childhood was spent here, and it was a giant trip through memory lane.
I couldn't believe I lost a part of myself after my accident and taking up this persona. I used to be a good brave kid, and now I'm some blue douche who's on cereal boxes.
My hand was brought up cautiously before I paused... what if she's angry at me.
She's my mom, I can just explain it to her. It will take a bit of explaining but it should work.
I knock softly before waiting, it was silent for a moment but then I heard footsteps getting closer. My heart rate getting quicker in a pile of nerves.
The door opened revealing none other than my mother, Rosa. She hadn't changed one bit, except she had to look even higher to see me.
She didn't frown but she didn't smile. I did though, trying not to tear up at the sight of my mother.
Rosa: Get inside, I made some food.
She said like the usual, and I nodded, she didn't seem so fazed about my obviously big blue build.
Y/N: A-Are you mad?
Rosa: If you don't come inside to eat, I will be very mad.
Portrayed by Sofia Vergara
Classic Columbian mom. I smile, realising she is being welcoming so I do as she says and walk inside, being mindful of the doorway.
Once the door closed, I looked around and took in the scent of my childhood home. All the different memories, piercing back into my mind.
Mom didn't say anything, which was kinda scary at first, but dinner was already set up on the table.
Rosa: Sit.
I carefully sat on the chair, luckily I wasn't as big or tall as Bruce was. I was about the height of Jennifer when she was in Hulk form.
Y/N: Wow, so you really got the table ready for me before I got here.
Rosa: No. Actually for the past few months I waited every night, waiting for my son to join me and he finally did.
She said harshly, I gulped and ate my food slowly, looking back and forth to see my mom staring at me like a hawk.
It got awkward despite the meal being delicious and taking me back to my childhood, but I couldn't just eat while my mother lookee at me with disgust.
Y/N: What is it?
Her eyes immediately softened and so did her whole face, she leaned over and spoke softly.
Rosa: Oh, Y/N... I can't act mad at you. Not even after you ignored me, your own mother to be Jake Sully from Avatar.
I giggled at her analogy and nodded. I crossed my arms and looked at her meaningfully, becoming that little boy that I was all that long ago.
Y/N: I'm stuck mom, and I need your help.
-
Well, after telling my mom almost everything, she started to understand my situation and gave me lots of words of encouragement.
She also let me stay the night, I was sleeping on the couch since the bed in my room is too small to accommodate my size...
I still couldn't revert back to human form, Bruce isn't answering my calls and there's no other gamma expert on earth. So all I have left is good thoughts and prayer.
A blanket was draped over me and by my side I could see my mother beside me, her lips were pursed in smile and she stroked her fingers through my hair.
Rosa: I just want you to know that if you remain like a giant smurf, you're still my little gordito. And I love you.
Y/N: Ugh love you too.
She squeezed my cheeks and ruffled my hair again, making me laugh.
Rosa: Tell me more about this lawyer girl.
Y/N: Oh Jennifer...
I grin widely to myself thinking about her, she made me so happy even though our last moment wasn't that pleasant.
Y/N: She's amazing. Like the best. She's got those eyes and lips, beautiful curly hair, great music taste, honest, funny and a great cuddler.
Rosa: Can she make perfectly fried empanadas?
She asked immediately, as if she ignored what I listed about her.
Y/N: I don't know...
Rosa: Oh. That's a bit of an issue. I'm not sure if she's the right one.
Y/N: You haven't even met her, mom.
Rosa: You're right... I know some day I'm going to lose you to another woman. But I'll be okay with it if I get a replacement, like a dog!
Mom leaned closer and pressed a kiss on my forehead, making me smile in gratitude.
Y/N: Thanks mom.
Then, she flicked my nose startling me from my sleep.
Rosa: But not today.
I sighed and shut my eyes, pulling the blanket over my shoulders and trying to get some rest.
Y/N: Mom can you drop me off at my friend's private retreat tomorrow?
I ask her as I hear her go upstairs, I didn't hear a response which I assume is a yes. It's a weekend tomorrow so it should be fine...
Honestly, I didn't know how to feel. But I guess I was making progress, by rebuilding who Y/N was. And that was starting with my mother.
