Looking through a keyhole is quite difficult.

It's small, it's skinny and it might be too dark to see on the other side.

But it just might be a good thing when you see a wave of blue and purple waving for you to come towards it.

Dakota North looked at the entirety of the old House. The worn down, vintage building that was covered in the powder blue corroded paint while the rain washed away her previous footsteps. Her mother and father insisted that it would be good for her, the school would be good for her and she'd be able to make new friends.

The dark clouds day after day, the rain pelting the clear windows, her plans getting washed out because of the weather. Dakota was growing tired of it and then she had to attend her fourth school.

Since Dakota started high school, her and her family have moved three times prior because of her parents' jobs. Demanding that they move every time. Both of them semi-famous journalists, their job keeps the family on the move, relocating whenever they see fit. Causing Dakota to not be able to get to know anyone long enough before uprooting her personal life because of her parents.

Ashland, Oregon was the new place her family decided to stay in. It was wet, cold and the people were too involved and obsessed over Shakespeare. At least that's what Dakota thought.

And starting school at Ponderosa Springs High School for her senior year was the last thing she wanted to do. Immediately, Dakota was met with the girl that believed they ran the small town school. Three to be exact—telling her who it was okay to talk to and who to stay the fuck away from.

POPPY: And her? Stay away from that chapstick lesbian.

DAKOTA: ...But. Why?

POPPY: She's weird.

Dakota watched the shag haired girl walk through the doors of the cafeteria, hands in her jacket pockets and bright eyes staring into the soul of her counterpart—as if she's seen her before.

She tuned out the rest of the words from the preppy girl who wanted to show her the rest of the school.

With time on her hands, Dakota walked home, the eerie feeling creeping about her as she made ripples through each puddle she stepped in. Not getting over it, she turned around, noticing the same shag-haired girl walking behind her on the other side of the road, heading towards the house that mirrored her own. Taking one last look at each other, the two teens walked into their respective households. Again, with time on her hands, Dakota finally took the chance to get a look around the property, at the grown out garden and backyard to the wrap-around patio—to back inside.

Amongst the unpacked and opened boxes in the family room, Dakota made a note of all the drapes and vintage wallpaper that covered the walls.

And the patched up outline of a little square door caught her eye.

While running her fingertips over it, she could swear someone calling her name.

So, i'm hoping this book will do good and if it does (sadly) this would be the first book i will have completed. but, i am excited to start writing this because I LOVE coraline, it has been my favorite book/movie since it came out. i do hope you guys enjoy.
