"Adriano, come up here it's time to put that work in." Coach Devon announced as Mack helped me tighten my gloves

"'Prciate it, bro," I said before climbing into the ring

"Today we are working the endurance. A champ is nothing without evasion. We know you can brawl, hell, you're probably one of the best I've seen! But, when we are curating the character of a champion we keep in mind the soul of the warrior. A good warrior knows the difference between fight or flight and when to stand in that paint and get dirty. So, I'm bringing in the only other fighter in here I believe can truly keep up with you and give you a challenge. So, I need you to do is dodge the hits and roll off those ropes and just practice your defense, not your offense," Devon avowed causing me to nod

"Iris! How you doing, baby girl?!" He then called as I raised my eyebrow noticing the girl climbing into the ring

Her hair was cut really low but it didn't take away from her appearance, she also had these beautiful hazel eyes that probably brought men to their knees all the time and that's not even mentioning how tight her body was.

"I'm good, Unc, the plan is still the same?" She asked causing him to nod

"Iris meet the gym's male champion, Adriano, Adriano, meet the gym's female champion, Iris." Dev said

"D, I'm all good for a challenge but I really don't feel comfortable going into the ring with a woman." I finally blurted

"Oh, no worries Pretty Boy! You are just in defense mode, Iris will be doing all of the offense. Once again your only goal is to defend your person and Iris, please, don't knock my other champ out." Dev teased causing her to laugh and look at me smugly

"I won't as long as he keeps it sweet." She promised causing me to chuckle

Damn, she bad for real.

"I promise, beleza" I replied

She just chuckled sweetly before popping in her mouth guard as I did the same with the help of Coach Dev before he went to help her tighten her gloves.

Coach Dev then blew his whistle and we began to move in sync, almost like we knew each other's starting and finishing positions flawlessly.

"That's right...I'm in the business of building nothing but the best. I want Silva to block those shots just as much as I want Vaughn to land." Coach Dev stated as we continued to stare each other down

One by one she moved just as swiftly as me only sending accurate blows my way that I blocked just as swift which led us to smirk at one another.

She then pivoted into a quick side step that left me open from my left causing me to take a swift and hard hit to my rib; But what was most impressive was the way her cover reformed as if she was in an actual match.

"Alright, Silva, you can't let the brisk change of form break your cover. Even a dumb fighter will pick up on it and eat you up off of that one mistake." Coach Dev said as I kept my eyes on Iris

She looked as dangerous as me when I was in the ring for the real deal. It was sexy needless to say. I mean, the thought of a woman that was just as much a problem as I was...that's what I needed.

Doing a bit of footwork of my own, I pivoted to her right briskly leaving her to keep her form just as tight before throwing a jab that I used my shoulder to block before she threw a jab-hook combo that left me and her in a alluring battle that both of us were winning.

"Alright! Time!" Coach Devon announced leaving us to pause the exercise

"Whew! That was beautiful to watch!" He exclaimed shortly after as he began helping Iris and me take our gloves off

"You both have fights tomorrow, so no more training for today. I want you both well rested. See you both tomorrow, Silva, no partying." Coach said as we took our mouthpieces out

I just chuckled at the last part of his statement as I climbed down from the ring and said promisingly, "You've got my word, Coach."

"That's what I like to hear." He replied as I offered my hand to Iris who instead helped herself out of the ring

"Thank you." She said with a smile

"For what, Ma?" I asked while looking down at her

"For not making me knock your ass out." She answered leaving me to laugh

"You got plans after this?" I then asked causing her to laugh and say, "I'ma hit the bag some more tonight. But, I'ma chill with my girls a bit too."

"I see you, you 'finna hit the town," I replied while running my tongue over my lips swiftly while looking her up and down

"Somethin' like that, you?" She asked

"I was hoping I'd chill with you. But, you going out with your folks so I feel you." I replied with a shoulder shrug

She just smiled before saying, "I never said you couldn't come."

"Word?" I commented now smiling

"Word." She replied with a smile before grabbing her gym bag and beginning to make her way out

"Wait, where and what time we meeting?" I asked trying to figure out if this was legit

"The Food hall in Eastmont at 8...Is it too far for you?" She asked as she stopped at the door and turned around to look at me

"I live in Fitchburg, right down the street," I replied as she smiled

"Then you know what's up." She said simply before walking out

"You seen this shit man?" Teddy asked breaking my focus from Iris who was holding Adriana who was knocked out

I turned with furrowed eyebrows before he played a video from none other than Antonio Alvarez.

"You know, Pretty Boy Adriano been dodging me for years now. I did the same shit he did, moved up 3 classes undisputedly, and now that I'm in his weight class ain't no more excuses. If that 'foo scared he need to say that 'cause all that King of Kings shit don't matter when the Hitman in the building. Tell ya boy to see me. Fuck, all the internet shit." Antonio chuckled before the video cut

My jaw just hardened as I immediately felt a rage fill throughout me.

See, what the world doesn't know about me and Antonio is we got history. Real history. So for him to try and play with me like this had me tight because he knew what timing I was on when it came to him.

And it all stemmed from my wife.
