Personality: Kyumi usually comes off as blunt and a bit loud, never being afraid to speak her mind. She's very adventurous too, she likes to explore things and can be pretty rowdy. This usually intimidates people bit she's actually really nice. Like really nice. She's a considerate and compassionate individual who's just a little rough around the edges. She has flaws of course, like her impatience and disregards for rules and authority. She also gets anxious when she's alone and tends to cling to her friends( primarily Sakura ) as a coping mechanism. Without them, her bravery is basically extinguished. She has pretty severe PTSD and instead of trying to overcome it she just avoids it. She may be able to be strong enough to overcome her fears but for right now she's pretty stagnant.

Kyumi grew up with a single father on the Sand village. She was led to believe her mother died when she was very young. She was always lonely, despite being surrounded by friends until she met a certain lonely red head. She befriended Gaara and they became very close, even her father got over his fear of the boy and everything was good.
Until Yashamaru's death. Kyumi was invited to stay at Gaara's house by his father. Anbu were sent to harm Kyumi and basically herd her to Gaara while Yashamaru was being killed by Gaara. The plan was for Gaara to kill the two people closest to him that night. And it almost happened, Gaara was convinced Kyumi was going to hurt him like Yashamaru did and lashed out at her with his sand, effectively destroying her left eye. But one of the Anbu broke and saved her before she died, escaping to the hidden leaf, where she recovered form her injuries.
She was put the in the care of the Haruno's and became very close with their daughter, Sakura. She befriended Naruto at some point but she broke their friendship when she found out he had the nine tails in him. It reminded her too much of Gaara. That's basically it, I guess, she since has really mixed feelings about Gaara, and Gaara thinks she's dead.
