Dear Diary (does that sound weird?),

Hi. It's me again.

I'm writing this quickly because me and Oli need to do our act in a few minutes, but I just need to talk. Write? I'm not sure.

I had a big shouting match with the owner of the circus last night (he wanted me and Oli to work with two lions EACH. We can barely handle two between us!), and then he... took my instrument? For inspection or something? How am I meant to tame lions with no instrument, genius?

He gave it me back, but it looks a bit weird. I'm not sure how, it just... does.

Trust me on this, diary.

There's also a new act. A set of... tightrope walking twins. I don't know how they're twins- one's a goblin and one's a cat hybrid- but they seem pretty good. I highly doubt they'll be as popular as Gem's act (all the little kids love Gem's act), but they'll do pretty well from what I've seen so far.

I have to go now, diary. Oli doesn't want to go on though. He says he has a bad feeling about it, and that maybe we should skip this one, but we can't skip it!

There's already a crowd out there waiting! A BIG crowd.
