INFO

Wolf Shifter Hierarchy *They shift into wolves

In Wolf shifter packs you have alphas, betas, and omega. Each wolf shifter presents as one at the age of 13. The Leader of the pack is the alpha of alphas, and they chose a mate whether it be fated or not as their luna and a beta as well second in command.

Alpha Shifters

The alpha wolf is the leader of the pack and is responsible for protecting the pack, dealing with threats to the pack's survival, making decisions, and leading hunts. The alpha also takes a luna to be his lover and leads alongside them. Many pack members can be an alpha but there's only one leader: the pack leader alpha. The title is passed down for generations between the main alpha family. Female alphas can give birth and both female and male alphas experience a rut period. Alphas are born leaders and are stronger and faster than betas and omegas. They have a strong urge to protect others. They are overly dominant and seek to protect and scent their partners.

*The pack leader can be male or female as long as they're an alpha

* The pack leader becomes the leader at the age of 20-25

Beta Shifters

A beta wolf is the second wolf in a wolf pack hierarchy. They work as second in command. They take over when the alpha is away and help keep the mid-ranking wolves in a line. The beta wolf plays an important role in the pack, as it balances out the alpha wolf and the rest of the pack. They do not have specified breeding periods. The main betas (the pack leaders' right hand) is normally chosen from the main beta family, as in the beta family that has served as the betas to the leader for centuries but if the pack leader sees it fit, they may choose another beta among the pack but doing so denounces the past beta family as the main betas to the alpha. This is rarely done and instead the main beta family serves, they are often chosen from the age of 14 by the future alpha and they train with their future leader to bond and learn about their future duties. Outside of the main beta (second in command) many wolves are born as betas, they still are able to shift, and they normally make up the guarding squads. They are not as strong as alphas nor as domineering, but they are powerful, nonetheless. Only beta females can have kids, unfortunately it's normally a challenge.

Omega Shifters

Omegas are the weakest members of a wolf pack. They are frequently less mature wolves who have not yet established their authority in the pack. Omegas will generally eat last, avoid the rest of the group, and go off on their own. But each pack is different in the way that they treat their omegas. They are normally weaker than both alpha and betas and are a lot more submissive too. They are seen as the caretakers of the pack and with that being so both male and female omegas can reproduce. They go through the heat period.

Wolf Notes

Luna

The main omega leader of the pack is known as the luna, they are the mated pair of the pack's alpha leader and as such they are the highest regarded omega and are seen as the mother of the pack. While their pair (alpha leader) is focused on the safety of the pack the Luna is meant to provide medical aid and even caring for the pack's young. In times when the pack is fighting an enemy, they are the one slatted to provide protection to those who cannot fight so as such they are stronger than the average omega. When an omega takes the position as Luna, they are gifted with the ability of spirituality which is just a power to help them commune and properly worship the moon goddess.

Fated Mates

When creating wolf shifters, the moon goddess split the soul of one and made them into two entities. She did so because she wanted her creations to never be alone. Fated mates have a strong otherworldly attraction to one another and can feel when the other is nearby. Unlike regular mates when mated they share a psychic connection allowing them to feel the others' emotions and in rare cases sharing a mind link allowing them to communicate telepathically. Fated pairs mate for life. While in the olden days everyone could find their pair in this day and age its few and far between with most pairs not being true fated mates. After fated mates are paired, they react to others advances, they also sometimes die alongside their partner if the other dies. After realizing that they are pairs, being away from each other for an extended period of time becomes dangerous.

Mating

The concept of mating in Omega Verse is a central theme, representing the bond between an omega and an alpha. It goes beyond mere physical attraction and involves a deep emotional connection. Mating is a consensual act, where the alpha takes on the responsibility of providing for and protecting the omega. Beta shifters can also mate with alphas and omega, but it's not commonly done in every pack.

Rut

In the context of the Omega Verse, "rut" refers to a periodic and often annually recurring state for Alphas, during which their behavior associated with the urge to breed is displayed. Alphas can go into rut every month, or it can be triggered by an Omega's heat. During rut, Alphas become aroused and produce pheromones similar to the effect of an Omega's heat. In this universe, characters can also experience "Omega pause," a menopause-like end to their fertility.

Heat

In Omega verse, Omega individuals experience heat cycles:

Heats occur every three months. The duration of heat can last from 3 to 10 days. Young Adult and Adult Omegas go into heat. An Omega can only become pregnant during the During stage of their heat.

In the context of Omega verse, a heat refers to:

The time when an Omega is most fertile and ready to mate.

Some Omegas choose to have partners during their heats, while others hide in their nests without a mate.

During their heat, Omegas biologically produce a sweet scent to arouse alphas for breeding.

Common features of "heat cycles" include fever, loss of control, sexual desperation, and producing pheromones.

Pheromones

In omega verse, pheromones play a significant role. Here are some key points:

Omegas produce pheromones, especially when they are in heat and receptive to mating.

Alphas also release pheromones, often in response to the omega.

Alpha pheromones can induce heat in an omega.

Scenting in the Omega verse involves pheromones that influence attraction or imply ownership.

Scenting

In the Omega Verse, scenting refers to the process where Alphas, Omegas, and Betas give off a specific scent as a personal marker to their primary and secondary sex. They can also spread their specific scent on another person or object by physically rubbing against them. This concept is often used in romance and other genres.

Nesting

Nesting in the Omega Verse:

Refers to the instinctive behavior of pregnant omegas or omegas in heat to create a comfortable and safe space for themselves or their potential offspring.

Involves gathering soft materials like blankets or pillows to create a cozy nest.

Often includes items that carry their mate's scent.

Can occur when omegas are in heat, pregnant, or emotionally distressed.

Christening

Happens when the baby pup is 5 months old. This is a cultural shifter ceremony to bind a child's animal to them. Failure to do so eventually results in death as a shifter can only go 10 years without a connection to their animal counterpart before the body grows weak and the child dies.

Pregnancy

Between Alphas and Betas, only females can carry on a pregnancy, but male Omegas are often envisaged as being able to become pregnant via a uterus connected to the rectum, and Alphas can impregnate regardless of their main gender. Pregnant shifters are pregnant for 2 months due to their wolf counterparts; they normally have 4-6 pups a litter and they shift into their wolf forms before giving birth.

Mating Bite

Mating or Bonding Bite is A permanent bite mark on a Shifter's lower neck that marks them as mated. Marking in Omega Verse is where an alpha and omega bite at the juncture between the neck and shoulder. It is like marriage, where a mated pair essentially mixes their scents. Marking is done by alphas to their omegas, to show the bond and to announce to other alphas that this omega is off-limits. An omega can mark their alpha and their beta, and alpha can mark a beta and an omega, but betas cannot mark and normally are the ones bitten by their partner.

So, this is some terms to help with understanding the upcoming story.
