Today is exactly two years since I have debuted with my group, 하루. SM has promised us that there will not be any interviews whatsoever, so that we can celebrate as one whole. Since Baekyoung and Nari are in love with the company (probably because they love being with Mark and Johnny of NCT), we have promised the girls that we will celebrate our second annual anniversary in the building. I was secretly planning to celebrate their third birthday tomorrow in the evening so that we can stay up and have a kid-safe party throughout the building, since the girls were born at night. So, all of SM was invited with these adorable cards with Baekyoung and Nari on the front cover.
I held my girls' hands as we walked straight into the SM building, only to be greeted by Jen, Danielle, Aimee and Ruby. They ran to me in an instant, all smothering me and the two little ones on my sides.
"Happy two years!" They screamed, causing chuckles from people in the entrance way. I could only smile, it made me happy to be a part of a group, a family. I didn't need a partner, I had these girls.
"Ne. Happy anniversary, girls."
They let go and we walked further into the building, passing by a few meeting rooms, until we reached the dance rooms. And of course, what does Nari do? She pulls me to one of the dance rooms, then let's go, and as if I didn't have enough of running after the girls, she runs straight into the dance room. I groaned as the girls giggled and Baekyoung looked at me with big eyes. I cocked my eyebrow and sighed, opening the door for myself so I could stop Nari before she disturbed the dancing group.
This is where my foreign culture shows a lot here in Korea. Nobody is as strict of a person as I am, especially as a mother of two, extremely demanding girls...without a father figure. People would always ask me where I was from, because I wasn't like your average Korean mother. I was a Hungarian mother, someone so much stricter. It was just different.
I walk in the room, and I'm met with the cutest scenery of all: Chanyeol playing airplane with Nari. My cheeks felt hot and I immediately took out my phone to photograph this cute moment. Nari was a hyper child, that's for sure, but she didn't smile easily. It was these little things about the performing arts aura that made her so happy, she could bounce to the moon and back with all that happiness inside of her. Baekyoung was different; she was rather a reserved child, but she knew how to have fun. Her father would've loved her, which suddenly made me stiffen.
I looked around the room, one word hanging on the tip of my dry tongue: Baekhyun. I scanned the room at least ten times, trying to hide it with a smile, because I'm sure all of them know my past. The only question is, did they know Nari was his? My eyeballs glued onto each and every person in that room. Chanyeol, okay, Lay, Chen, Taeyeon...why was Taeyeon in the room with EXO? A big relief rushed through my body, and I was finally able to concentrate on my baby in Park Chanyeol's arms.
He looked at me with a wide grin as he had Nari soaring through the sky, which seemed to entertain everyone. Taeyeon had her hands covering her mouth in awe, what I'd probably be doing now if I wasn't so scared a minute ago. Relief was still being comprehended by my body, and it wasn't an easy thing to get straight through my head.
"Your child has grown up so much since the last time I saw her!" He grinned back up at her as she broke into her fiftieth giggling fit.
I smiled and bowed at everyone in respect. "Well, she's grown a lot since her birth, which is the last time you saw her, I'm pretty sure," I put my hands on my hips as Yeol put her down.
"Yah! Nari! It's time to go, come—"
And of course, she ignores me and jumps into Lay's lap. I sighed and looked at the door entrance in disbelief of Nari while the girls came in, safely holding Baekyoung's little hand. She quickly hid into Jen's leg and held tightly in shock of the huge amount of people. Truthfully, this wasn't a large amount of people, but to Baekyoung, it could've been the entire Republic of Korea in this tiny practice room.
"Baekyoungie, come to eomma! Come here baby doll," I squatted and tapped my thighs.
"Here, I'll do it," Chen stood up and went over to Jen, squatting low so he could rub her soft cheek with his thumb. She ran out of the room, much to my dismay.
I groaned and threw my head back, Taeyeon laughing. "I can't imagine how exhausted you are, Nora!"
I sighed and gave her a small smile. "The entire day was about me running after them in the park, then in the arboretum, and then trying to get them to eat their lunch. What a productive day," I shook me head, while Nari didn't seem to understand that we needed to leave to collect Baekyoung. Once we'd do that, nobody would be leaving to go anywhere for today. Tomorrow is their birthday, that's alright, but I, as a single mother, cannot do this! Especially with all the dancing and performing on top of my motherhood.
"It's okay, I'll drop her off to you when we're done practicing, is that okay?" Lay offered.
I scratched the back of my head while someone walked into the room. I sort of felt like Nari was such a burden, even though I knew that everyone wanted to be with my girls. I bowed to him in thanks and nodded my head twice.
"Komawoyo, Lay Oppa!" I bowed once more, before turning around, to face Kai. I froze, I don't exactly know why, but I did.
His face was nor friendly, nor pleasant. He stood there, looking down at me with harsh eyes, and I didn't know what to do, until Aimee grabbed my wrist and pulled me out of the room, while I bumped shoulders with someone in the doorway. Not that I had a chance to apologize, Aimee was pulling me all the way down the hallway, and into the elevator.
I just wanted this day to stop being so productive.
