18. i hate phone calls so just text me instead
Something was buzzing. . .
It was Saturday, so why was her alarm going off?
With a groan, Park turned herself over and reached a hand out to stop her alarm clock from singing any longer. She swat the button, but realized it wasn't pressed in the first place. Upon opening her eyes, she noticed it wasn't her alarm clock that made the noise. She quickly grabbed her phone and unlocked the screen.
[From: Kazemaru] : Good morning Park! Are you busy today?
Park stared at the text message with a blank face. She hadn't responded to the messages from yesterday, maybe that made Kazemaru more worried, which caused him to text again. She let out a small sigh.
[From: Park] : good morning!! i'm not busy today. what's up?
[From: Kazemaru] : I was wondering if you wanted to hang out.
[From: Park] : sure! i'll get out of bed real quick lol
[From: Kazemaru] : Take your time. I'll wait for you outside your house, is that okay?
[From: Park] : that's alright! i won't take too long, I promise. see you soooooon
[From Kazemaru] : See you soon!
Park didn't want to hang out, but she also didn't want to be mean and turn him down. Who knows, Maybe she'll end up having a good time. She still wasn't in the best mood, so maybe she needed this. She'll have to thank Kazemaru later.
The white haired girl got out of bed and went to get cleaned up.
However Kazemaru managed to muster the courage to ask Park to hang out with him - the teal haired boy had no idea. He stood outside Park's front door up on the porch, anxious as all hell. Park was a nice girl, so what was he so afraid about? He wanted to make sure she was doing okay, because yesterday she looked so sad. Like a mother, Kazemaru worried for the girl.
The long haired boy wore a simply white t-shirt, and blue jeans. The weather was nice, so he didn't need a jacket. Although he was suddenly self-conscious about his outfit choice. Maybe he should have dressed a little fancier to impress her. . . Wait, this wasn't a date!
Suddenly, the front door opened. Kazemaru was expecting to see Park, but instead it was a much older woman with short black hair parted in the middle. She had pretty chocolate coloured eyes and perfect skin. The woman wore a long, light blue dress with a collar, and a short white scarf knotted around her neck.
The lovely Kim.
"Can I help you?" Kim asked, a little bit confused as of to who the hell Kazemaru was and why he was standing at the front door.
"O-oh, uh. . . I'm waiting for Park." Kazemaru responded nervously. "I'm her friend from school and the soccer team, my name is Kazemaru Ichirouta. Are you her mother?" He was oblivious as of to the fact that Kim didn't like hearing that question at all. She also didn't like answering it either.
"No, I'm her grandmother. My name is Park Kim-Sun, but you're free to just call me Kim, or Sunny!" The dark haired woman chirped, answering as easily as she could. "Mio is upstairs getting ready, she slept in a little bit late today. Come inside honey!"
Kazemaru was given no time to protest, because Kim already pulled him inside. It's not that he minded, he was just really nervous.
"Take a seat." Kim brought him into the living room. "You can wait for her inside."
"Thank you, Kim." Kazemaru smiled gently at the woman, before sitting down on the plush sofa. He was quite impressed at how beautiful the house was - but that was to be expected from a girl like Park. At least that's what he thought.
A second after sitting down, Kazemaru noticed a fluffy white dog laying down on the sofa as well. The dog was so cute, Kazemaru couldn't help but smile. He wanted to pet Cho, but he didn't know if he was allowed to.
Just then, someone came down the stairs - Park. She wore a long sleeved, white collared blouse, and a mini light blue skirt. In her hair was her usual pink flower, and she left her long white hair down.
"Mio, your friend is here. I let him inside." Kim sang from in the kitchen.
"Oh, okay!" Park didn't seem to mind. She already saw him sitting in the living room while coming down the stairs anyway. "Sorry for the wait, Kazemaru," she padded down the staircase and made her way over to him.
"That's okay, I didn't wait long." Kazemaru shook his head, a small smile marring his face. He'd compliment her outfit, but that'd be too embarrassing.
"This is Cho! He's really friendly, you can pet him if you want!" Park introduced the boy to her Pomeranian. "Cho, say hello." The girl spoke in a higher pitched voice just for the sake of the dog. It seemed to make him happy, and Kazemaru found it endearing.
"Nice to meet you Cho." Kazemaru reached a hand out and gently pet the dog on his head. Cho squinted his eyes a little, but he seemed to have liked the attention. "He's really cute."
"He's the cutest." Park chuckled. She was always glad to hear people liked her precious Pom. "Are you ready to go?" She looked up at Kazemaru, who nodded in response.
"I'll be home soon!" Park called out to Kim before she left the house alongside Kazemaru.
The two teenagers made their way towards the town, stopping by an ice cream shop for a treat. Kind as always, Kazemaru offered to pay for Park's order - but the girl refused. Park asked for a vanilla soft serve cone, smothered in sprinkles. Kazemaru asked for the same, but without the sprinkles. He didn't normally eat ice cream, but he figured Park would be really happy to get some, and she was. So, mission accomplished.
"I'm surprised you asked me to spend time with you. I'd have thought you'd ask Captain." Park muttered as they neared a bench in the park, and took a seat. Park nervously swung her feet back and forth.
"Well. . . I was worried about you. So I wanted to cheer you up, and make sure you were okay." Kazemaru told her straight. It was better to just be honest and let it out - besides, it'd do no harm.
"You don't have to worry about me, Kazemaru." Park smiled sweetly, a smile that made Kazemaru just barely widen his eyes in awe. "I'll be okay. . . The feeling will pass one day."
"If you don't mind me asking. . . What's wrong? Maybe talking about it will help, but you don't have to tell me if you don't want to." The teal haired boy didn't want to force her to speak up, but he also wanted to know what happened so that he could help. He hated seeing his friends in such a sad state, and Park was one of them.
There was a pause of silence. . .
"It's the same thing as before. I just feel useless on the field. I wish I could do more. It's really had to just sit back and watch everyone to do the work." Park muttered before eating some of her ice cream. She wanted a Pepsi. . . Maybe she'd get one afterwards.
"Yeah, I understand how that feels. I feel the same way sometimes as well." Kazemaru's gaze was still set on the girl beside him. When he said this, Park quickly raised her head to look at him in return. "Gouenji and Someoka are amazing, aren't they? That's why I really want to perfect Hoono no Kazamidori."
"Kazemaru, you're amazing on the field! You can run faster than anyone, and you can always manage to steal the ball before the opponent makes a shoot. Don't ever think you're useless on the field." Park protested. The look in her eyes made Kazemaru instantly believe what she said, she seemed to confident in her words. . . It warmed his heart a little.
"Thank you. . ." Kazemaru smiled gently. "The same goes for you. Your defense is unstoppable, Park. Your Daebak works every single time it's used, and your passes connect perfectly. You can make a pass without even looking!" He piped up.
"That's not true!" Park countered, but the small smile on her face was enough for Kazemaru. "I can be so much better. . ."
"Let's be better together." As soon as Kazemaru said this, he paused, and regretted it.
Park looked at him, blinking her eyes a few times. They sat in the silence for a moment.
"Okay." Park nodded, catching the boy off guard. "I'd like that."
". . . Really?" Kazemaru inched closer.
"Really." The white haired girl smiled.
