5.) Extra: Clark's Work and Meeting the Kents

Superman has finally agreed to become Conner's official dad. All the legal documents are now under his name. Clark gave Conner the option of living in Metropolis with him, but Conner refused as he liked living at the cave with Vanessa. Today, Clark is going to take Conner to his job to have Conner see him outside of the Superman persona.

"Do I honestly have to wear this?" Conner asks, looking at the tux spread out on his bed.

"Mmmhmm," Vanessa nods. "I bet you'll look real sexy."

"You think?" he asks, raising an eyebrow.

"I know," she smirks, giving him a quick peck on the lips. "Tell me when you've changed. I'll be in my room." She phases through to her room.

Conner smiles as he watches her go before frowning at the suit on his bed. "I'll wear it, but I'm still wearing my gloves..." After a few minutes, he has the suit on but has no idea how to put on the tie. "Nessa?"

She phases her head through the wall with her eyes closed. "You finished?"

"Yeah, I just don't know what to do with this," Conner answers, holding up the tie.

Vanessa opens her eyes and chuckles. "Here, let me do it." She takes the tie from him, floats up into the air some to wrap it around his neck as he's too tall for her, and perfectly ties it. "There. Hellooo, sexy." She drapes her hands around his neck.

He chuckles, wrapping his hands around her waist. "I feel like a dork."

"Well, you don't look like one," she smiles, levitating the glasses over to him. "At least not yet." She puts the glasses on him and giggles. "Now you look sorta dorky."

He rolls his eyes. "Thanks."

"Recognized: Superman, 01."

"Looks like it's time to go," Vanessa says, placing her feet on the floor.

The two exit the room and head to the zeta-tubes in the mission room.

"Conner, you look well," Clark praises.

"Wow, you two look identical!" Vanessa squeals, looking between the two of them.

"Ka—dad, could Vanessa come too?" Conner asks.

"I don't see why not."

"Wait, really? You want me to go?" Vanessa asks.

"Of course," Conner says, giving her a small smile.

"Yay! Okay! Hold on, let me go get dressed," Vanessa disappears in a second and returns a few minutes later. "Dressed to impress."

"Well, you certainly impressed me," Conner admits, intertwining his hand with hers. "You look great."

"Thanks, so shall we go?" Vanessa asks. "Don't wanna be late to your job."

"We have an hour and a half before I need to go in," Clark says. "Let's go get some breakfast." He flips out a credit card with a grin. "Batman's treat."

Vanessa chuckles. Clark types in the coordinates and off they go to Metropolis. They come out of a photo booth in an alley way.

"Cause a photo booth in an alley way isn't creepy at all," Vanessa comments.

Clark chuckles. "Come on, there's a nice diner around the corner."

A few minutes walking, they come up upon a place called Bibbo's Diner. They enter and take a seat in a booth. Clark across from the couple.

"Clark!" a man comes up to the table. This man looks like a lumberjack to Vanessa. He's big and slightly scary looking if he didn't have a big smile across his face. Blond, blue eyes, and a giant, easily towering over Clark.

"Bibbo, it's been a while," Clark says.

"Yeah it's been a year. Last time you were here you started shouting at a man about a son or something," Bibbo recalls.

Clark chuckles awkwardly, trying to ignore the stares of the two teens. "Yeah..."

"So, who is it you brought with you?" Bibbo asks, turning to the two teens. "Whoa, he looks just like you Clark."

"Yeah, Bibbo this is my son, Conner and his girlfriend, Vanessa," Clark introduces.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Bibbo," Vanessa chimes.

"Wow, Clark, he's definitely your son," Bibbo says. "Oh, please just call me Bibbo."

Conner shakes Bibbo's hand. "Nice to meet a friend of my dad's."

"Wow, you have a strong grip there, son. Just like your old man, right?" Bibbo asks, trying to not give away much with Vanessa present.

"It's alright, Bibbo. She knows about who I am," Clark says.

"Oh, really?" Bibbo asks in a whisper. "So, Conner, you have super strength too? Bullet proof? Flight?"

"Yes for the first two. I can jump high, no flight."

"At least not yet," Vanessa says. "He has the potential. I've seen it."

"You a super too?" Bibbo asks, eyebrow raised.

Vanessa chuckles. "I work on the same team as Conner here."

"Mighty interesting. Well, I know Clark here has work soon, so what'll it be?" Bibbo asks, pulling out his notepad.

The three order, eat, then leave to The Daily Planet. They enter and get through reception.

"Morning, Clark," the receptionist greets.

"Morning, Jennifer," he replies.

They get through the small security and head up the elevator.

"There's an act that I put up in the office, so play along," Clark says, once the elevator doors close behind them. "I play a clumsy farm boy."

Vanessa snickers. "Really?"

"Don't laugh," Clark scolds.

She continues to giggle until someone else gets on the elevator from another floor.

"Good morning, Clark," the woman greets.

"Morning, Meg."

"And who is with you?" she asks, curiously looking at the two.

"This is my son, Conner and his girlfriend, Vanessa."

"I didn't know you had a son," she admits, eyes widened.

"I didn't either until about a year ago," Clark smiles, wrapping an arm around Conner's shoulders.

"It's obvious he's your son," Meg says. "You look exactly alike."

"Yep, he's got my good looks."

"You look so young to have a, what, sixteen year old?"

"I'm 36, Meg."

"What?!" Meg gasps. "Seriously? You look so much younger."

"I get that a lot," Clark chuckles, letting Conner go.

Vanessa chuckles, wrapping an arm around Conner's and calming him down from his annoyance. The elevator opens and Meg excuses herself, rushing off with her paperwork somewhere.

"Ah, Smallville's here!" a man shouts, earning a few people's attention's.

"Morning, Ron," Clark greets.

"Whoa, you have a clone following you," Ron says, taking a double take between Conner and Clark.

Conner let's out an annoyed puff. Vanessa moves her hand down to intertwine with his, slightly calming him down as he looks to her. She smiles up at him, calming him down fully and giving a small smile of his own. She leans against his arm, watching the scene unravel in front of her.

"Yeah, who's this?" a black haired woman asks, walking up with an orange haired boy behind her.

"Lois, Jimmy," Clark says, turning to Conner. "This is Conner Kent. My son."

The three heroes wince at the loud volume of 'whats' they get as an answer.

"When were you going to tell me?" Lois asks, shocked.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier..." Clark says. "I'll explain later."

"When did you have a son?" Ron asks.

"Sixteen years ago apparently."

"Nice to meet you, Conner," Lois slides up beside him. "I'm Lois Lane. Also, Clark's girlfriend. And who's this pretty lady?"

"Hi, I'm Vanessa Lavigne. Conner's girlfriend."

"My dad wanted to introduce me to his work," Conner speaks up.

"Wow, you even sound alike," Lois says, looking to Clark. "So, who's the mom?"

"It's... complicated..."

"Hi, I'm Jimmy Olsen," Jimmy says, shaking Conner's hand and noticing the grip.

Clark grabs Jimmy and Lois, pulling them into a meeting room with the two teens behind them.

"Clark, what's going on?" Lois asks. "Is he also–" She cuts herself off giving Vanessa a glance.

"Super?" Vanessa finishes with an amused grin.

"Uh, you... you know?" Jimmy asks.

Vanessa looks to Clark. "You sure have a lot of people who know your secret identity," Vanessa sighs. "Yes, I know he's Superman and his son is Superboy. I'm Spook. Half demigod and half ghost."

"Yeah, I'm half Kryptonian half human," Conner says. "I got the strength, the senses, and I'm bulletproof too."

"How can you be half dead?" Jimmy asks, completely enthralled.

Vanessa shrugs.

"So you had a girlfriend 16 years ago?" Lois asks.

"I think I did... but that's not how he was born," Clark sighs, putting a hand to his head.

"Yeah, I don't even have a mom," Conner says.

"How can you not–" Jimmy starts.

"He was genetically made using my DNA and... Lex Luthor's DNA," Clark explains.

"Freaky," Jimmy says.

"I'm technically only a year old," Conner admits. "Physically 16."

"Trippy," Jimmy states, taking in Conner's appearance.

"Lex Luthor!" Lois whisper-shouts. "This is your chance to officially get Lex put away for good. You can prove he was doing illegal genetic experiments!"

"Lex is in hiding right now," Vanessa says, clenching her fists angrily, letting off a faint purple glow. "But even so he can still manage to worm his way out of it."

"Vanessa," Clark warns, noticing his friends staring at her glowing hands.

"Oh, sorry," Vanessa gasps, calming herself down.

"Lex Luthor has wronged the three of us in many different ways," Clark says. "But in due time we will be able to get him put away for good. One way where Conner won't be harmed or my secret revealed."

"I can take care of myself," Conner grunts.

A sudden rumble is heard, shaking the whole building. The five hurry to the window and look below to the streets.

"It's Bizarro," Clark says, turning to the teens. "Ready for a little team up?"

"Good, I was itching to get out of this chicken suit," Conner huffs, ripping off the tux top to reveal his black shirt with the red 'S' in the center chest.

"Superboy, I knew that sounded familiar, you helped with the bridge incident," Lois says, remembering the photographs.

Vanessa smirks, calling the two rings forth to change into her alter ego.

"That's so cool!" Jimmy squeals quietly.

Superman already changed into his costume.

"Do you always have that thing on?" Spook asks.

"Always," Lois confirms, causing the two girls to giggle.

"I like her, Supes, you should marry her," Spook approves, causing Superman to blush faintly.

"Wait, how are you going to get out of here? There're no windows," Jimmy says.

"Then it's a good thing I'm here," Spook says, grabbing the two supers and teleporting them down to Bizarro.

"I think I have a new favorite hero," Jimmy sighs dreamily.

Lois chuckles. "She's about to have quite a few after this. SO, come ON, let's get down there!"

After the league comes to pick up Bizarro and the small interview where Superman confessed that Superboy was his son and to learn about Spook, the three return to the office to watch Clark in the midst of his work. The two teens sit on one of the couches in the little corner used by staff for break, watching Clark run around the room like a chicken with its head cut off that occasionally makes a fool of himself.

"As entertaining as this is," Conner huffs. "I'm beginning to get bored."

A man suddenly walks up to the two. "Wow, I heard that Clark had a son and just had to meet him. You are most definitely his son. Hello, I'm Perry White the chief editor around here."

Conner shakes his outstretched hand. "I'm Conner Kent."

"Quite a grip there just like your father."

"I've been getting that a lot lately," Conner fakingly chuckles.

Perry turns to Vanessa. "And you're his beautiful girlfriend, I assume?"

"I am," Vanessa smiles. "My name is Vanessa. Nice to meet you."

"Has anyone ever told you your eyes really draw people in?" Perry asks.

"Once or twice," Vanessa admits. "My twin brother and I have been told we have a rare shade of green for our eyes."

"How cool. Well, I must go back to work. I just wanted to introduce myself," Perry says. "Duty calls." He then walks off.

"Well, I think we've met just about everyone in this building," Vanessa jokes, earning a smirk from Conner. "Wanna go prank Clark?"

"I'm in."

"Cover me."

Conner moves in front of her as she turns invisible and transforms, maneuvering over to Clark's area and hovering over him. The ghost taps on his shoulder then steals his glasses once he turns, turning them invisible and setting them on the table.

"What the?" Clark says, confused. He quickly snatches the glasses from the table and puts them back on.

She gives him another tap on the other shoulder. He once again turns, only to see nothing. He quickly catches on and looks over in Conner's direction, not spotting Vanessa. Conner gives a little wave.

Another tap on the shoulder. "Clark?"

"What?!" he huffs, turning annoyed to the tapper to find Lois. "Oh, sorry, Lois. What is it?"

She gives him a shocked mixed with a confused look before she hands him some paperwork. "Here are the files you asked for."

"Oh, thanks, honey," Clark says, gently taking them and getting back to work.

Spook clamps down both her hands on his shoulders. "Conner and I are bored and hungry."

"Explore the building or the city or something," Clark whispers. "There's a vending machine and stop causing trouble. I'm almost finished and then we're going to meet my parents for dinner."

She gives a quiet groan. "Fiine... Wait, is there anyone here you don't like?"

"Go away, Spooky."

"Fine, Supes," she sighs and heads back over to Conner. She returns to normal behind him. "Let's get something from the vending machine."

After a few hours, Clark finally finishes and off to Smallville they go.

"What are we doing here?" Conner asks, after exiting the zeta-tube telephone booth and looking around.

"I figured there was someone you should meet," Clark says.

Vanessa transforms into Spook, and Conner gives her a curious look. "Ready."

"Ready for what?" Conner asks.

"Have you tested how fast you can run?" Clark asks.

"Not really," Conner admits. "I usually just jump."

"Well, I'm about as fast as Flash," Clark admits. "So should you." Clark disappears in a blur.

"Try and catch us!" Spook shouts, flying off after Superman.

"Hey!" Conner shouts, taking off after them. He catches up to them in no time.

Clark smiles. "Looks like you got the speed too. I believe that over time you will gain all the same powers as I. You just have to grow up a bit."

"You really think that I'll be able to fly?"

"I do," Clark replies. "It's just a matter of time and practice. We've arrived."

"Wait, so you're actually a farm boy?" Vanessa asks, turning back into her human self.

"Ma! Pa!" Clark calls out, getting no reply. "They must be inside. Come on." The three enter through the front door. "Ma? Pa?"

"Is that my boy?" an older gruff voice calls out. "I'm in the living room!"

Clark leads the way and the two teens follow behind him. In the living room sits an older man, who's relaxed in a comfy recliner and watching tv.

"Where's Ma?" Clark asks, moving in his line of sight. "Have someone here that you two should meet."

"She's in the kitchen."

"I'll go get her," Clark says, leaving the room.

The two teens are waved over by Jon, and they move to sit on the couch.

"Ah! You really do look just like my boy!" Jonathan admits, standing up to give Conner a hug. "We've been told so much about you! I'm Jonathan Kent."

"Should I... call you grandpa?" Conner asks.

"Whatever you want is fine," Jon responds, turning to me. "And who is this?"

"Hi, I'm Vanessa. I'm on the same covert team that Conner's on."

"Ah, you're his girlfriend. The ghost demigod, right?" Jon asks.

She smiles. "That's right."

Clark comes back in the room with Martha Kent. "And this is them."

"Oh, hi! Wow, Clark, he looks exactly like you did as a teenager!" Martha exclaims, moving up to Conner and squeezing his cheeks. "It's like I've gone back in time." She lets his cheeks go, and Conner rubs his face with his hand. "I'm Martha Kent, call me grammy."

Clark chuckles. "Conner, Vanessa, these are my folks."

"It's nice to meet the grandparents of Conner's," Vanessa says.

"Come, I've made dinner," Martha says, leading everyone into the dining room.
