"Mommy, when are we going to see daddy!" Spencer asked as she practically ran into her mother's old bedroom, as Mal was talking to Sam for about twenty minutes. Just catching up as Mal had missed her boyfriend's voice. She wishes that she could see him.
"Got to go bye." Mal says as she didn't give Sam a chance to hang up as she beat him to it. Mal closed her phone, just as Spencer leaped onto her mother's bed.
"Who was that?" Spencer asked as she jumped in her mom's lap which earned a grunt from Mal.
"First of all, ow." Mal says as Spencer's facial expression changed from happy to worried. She immediately went to her mom's side. "Second of all, Daddy is leaving his camping thing that he did with your Uncle Dean and Whitney."
Spencer nods her head, as she has a small frown on her face. Mal looks down at her daughter seeing her mood change. "What's wrong?" The mother of Spencer couldn't help but ask her daughter.
"I wanted to talk to daddy. I miss him." Spencer says as she grabbed her stuffed giraffe and held it in her arms.
Mal wrapped her arm around her daughter holding her close. Mal sighed at her daughter as she knows that Spencer misses Sam very much. Probably more than Mal misses him.
"I know you do baby. Hopefully soon, you can see him." Mal says, as she was also reassuring herself too. She misses Sam as much as Spencer does. So, she can't blame her.
"When can I call Daddy?" Spencer asked as it sounded muffled a little because her mouth was covered by her stuffed giraffe named spot.
Mal felt her body tense up at hearing Spencer say that. She looked down at her daughter as her hand moved from Spencer's back to her head as she kissed her daughter's head. She felt her heart break at her daughter being like this. There is only a handful of times where Spencer's separation anxiety was this bad. "Baby, it is okay. Your daddy is okay. Trust me. You will see him in a while." Mal says as she was also telling herself that also. "He is busy with your Uncle and Cousin. They haven't seen each other in a while."
"I wanna hear his voice. I miss that. I-I want to hug him, and smell h-his hair, and I-I want to k-kiss him." Spencer says as she has soft baby tears on her cheeks, as she had a tiny aob escaping her lips.
Mal felt bad for Spencer as she kissed her daughter's head again as she brushed her fingers through her daughter's soft brown hair. It has slight waves in it, making her even more cute, along with her dimples when she smiles. How can you not look at Spencer and not smile. It is nearly impossible to do so.
"Look..." Mal says to her daughter as she picks up Spencer and brought her onto her lap. She took notice of Spencer's face as it has small tears on her cheeks. Mal leaned to the side and grabbed a tissue and wiped her daughter's tears. "Baby, trust me. You will see Daddy soon. You can call him later tonight, okay?" Mal says to her daughter as almost a second later what was Spencer crying a little was a happy five-year-old, replacing her crying. She immediately hugged her mother. Mal let out a chuckle at her daughter, as she kissed her head as she brushed her hand through her daughter's hair.
Spencer now sported a hopeful smile on her face which only made Mal smile at seeing her daughter happy. Even if it is her being happy after her mom says that she can call her dad later.
Just then as if Spencer's smile couldn't get bigger it got bigger. Mal swears now Spencer looks like the grinch with his famous wide smile. "Now, what time should I call him? That is the important question right there."
Mal couldn't help but chuckle at her daughter's question. She brushed her fingers over her daughter's hair with a small smile that is slowly growing. "How about um before you go to bed. How does that sound?" Mal asked her daughter and without a word, Spencer nods her head frantically at her mother.
"Okay." Spencer says as Mal smiled her head at her daughter who was boucing on her lap. Mal has her hands on her daughter's sidr to keep her from falling, as she doesn't want to be the one who tells Sam that Spencer is at the hospital because she fell. That is also not in her budget anyway.
little later
Mal and her mother Margaret are getting their jackets on, as they are going to the grocery store. That and to also run some errands. Mal had put Spencer down for a nap as it is around her nap time in the first place. It shouldn't take an hour at the most, also depending on traffic.
Yes, William isn't the greatest father in the first placr given the fact how he used to punish Mal for when she did nothing but mind her own business. It didn't help the most part how William was almost always drunk, and had drunken hullcinations. But it shouldn't be a problem because Spencer is sleeping in the bedroom upstairs. William is drunk and passed out to really notice that his wife and daughter are leaving in the first place.
After the two got their jacket's on and Margaret grabbed the keys to the car. The mother and daughter headed out, but what was slowing Mal down was her gut instinct. Something was telling her that it isn't going to be alright and that something will happen.
at the house
It was about half an hour since Mal and Margaret had left to do their errands and Spencer had woken up because had to go to the bathroom, and when she finished her business she decided to walk around the house. Being careful as her grandfathee is still sleeping. At least that is what it looks like.
In an instant it was like William knew that Spencer was up as he heard the steps on the stairs creak slightly. "Get back upstairs." Was all that William had said but Spencer didn't listen, but she stopped walking.
All William did was turn his head to the side and saw his granddaughter standing there, but she froze. "I can see you, you brat. I said get upstairs. Now."
"Where is Mommy, and Nana?" The little girl asked which was enough to make her grandfather snap, which made the little girl jump.
William got up with his beer bottle in hand along with a case of beer on the folding table beside him. He walked towards his granddaughter, but Spencer's body just froze not knowing what to do. Even if she probably should have ran. "Where Mama?" The little girl asked again, as before she could even blink, there was a loud slap that nearly echoef through the living room. Spencer stumbled backwards from the harsh impact, she rolled a couple times before her grandfather forcibly grabbed her with one hand and led her upstairs.
"This is what happens when little girls don't listen to a direct fucking order!" William yelled which made the little girl flinch, as she didn't try to squirm in her grandfather's harsh grasp.
He walked down the hall to a closet and opened it with a key, and tossed the girl in there, making her hit her head against the wall, and she lost consciousness, almost immediately. Then William closed the door, then he locked it with the key, and he walked downstairs like nothing had happened.
When Mal and Margaret got back from their errand run, it was eerie quiet at the house. Outside of William drinking his fourth beer and watching an old rerun of a football game of the Seattle Seahawks. But there was no sign of Spencer anywhere. William's lips slowly curved into a small smile, as he saw his daughter's slight panic.
Mal decided to push it to the side even though her concern for her daughter made Mal think over of what could happen, until her gaze handed on the bookshelf that Spencer had tumbled into, when William had slapped her across the face. There was a couple books that had fell, but what made no sense of how tall the books that fell were. They fell from the third shelf, ad the shelves are resonably low for a child to reach, as that was the whole point of the shelves being that close to the ground.
Mal furrowed her brows in confusion as now thoughts were swarming in her head of what could have done that. It made her more worried as she turned her gaze towards her father whose smirk never left.
Now, seeing her father's smirk only seemed to make her madder as she was piecing it together in her head, but they all came back towards her father. She decided to act calm about this, not wanting to make it seem like she knows what happened.
"Hey, Dad?" Mal asked her father, who slowly turned his gaze from the tv screen to his daughter which was more suspicious to the mother of Spencer. "Where is Spence?" Mal asked her father as he moved the beer bottle slowly from his lips to give her his full attention. The silence only made her want to shove her father against a wall. William didn't say anything besides a sickening smirk that was plastered on his face.
"Oh, you mean the brat." William said as Margaret who was putting away the food from the grocery store, slowly peered her attention to her daughter and husband. She was watching both of their actions intently.
That was when Mal had enough og her father, before William could put his beer to his lips it was snatched from his hands, and tossed in the waste basket. Mal grabbed her father by his collar of his shirt and pushed her father up against the wall making him grunt a little by the force.
The look on Mal's face was pure rage but William wasn't fazed by the face. Mal's breathing only got faster. "I'm going to ask you one more time, where is my daughter!" Mal yelled at the top of her lungs and if she could she pushed her father more against the wall, as she slowly lifted her farther off the ground.
"She got punished, for being a brat." William finally said as his sickening smirk slowly left his face but it was replaced by a scoff. Mal loosened her grasp onto her father and his feet returned to the floor. Mal wasn't done yet however, as she turned around and got her breathing back under control. Then after that, she turned back towards her father and punched him in the face as it knocked him out only for temporarily. Mal then dropped her father's limp body on the floor which ended in a light thump.
Then, Mal rushed upstairs going through every room. It was sickening quiet upstairs, but then as if a light bulb turned on in her head, she went to the closet by the bathroom, and as soon as she opened it, Spencer moved towards the corner. "Hey, baby girl." Mal said as after ger mother said that Spencer launched herself in her mother's arms.
Then, there was a padder of foktsteps as it was Margaret. Her heart broke at the scene in front of her, it was her granddaughter clutching into her mother. The mother and daughter continued to embrace each other tightly not wanting to let each other go. Which is to be expected given the fact what happened to Spencer.
Mal was rubbing her daughter's back with one hand as her head was buried against the crook of her daughter's neck. Her other hand swiftly lifted her daughter from the ground as the three of them walked towards the bedroom. Mal's anger and rage was still prominent on her face but it was temporarily replaced by her reassuring her daugbter that everything was okay. She was also reassuring herself that her daughter is okay, as now she vows to never leave her daughter in the presence of her father.
Mal had entered the bedroom as she gave Spencer to her grandmother, before she started packing. Margaret understood why her daughter was packing as she would too. "You leaving, mommy?" Spencer asked her mother as she turned her head and saw her mother packing their bags of clothes and the other stuff that Mal had brought with.
"No, baby. We're leaving, say bye to Nana?" Mal said as calmly as she could muster without trying to scare her child even more. But the tone of her voice made Spencer not question her mother anymore.
"Okay." Spencer muttered rather quietly to her mother as Mal finished packing her and Spencer's stuff. Spencer turned back towards her Nana and kissed her lightly on the cheek. "Bye, Nana." Spencer says as she couldn't really get the grasp of trying to say grandma so the alternative was nana.
Margaret kissed her granddaughter's forehead tenderly as she used hee free hand to softly brush her fingers through her granddaughter's brown hair. Spencer hugged her grandmother again, and after the hug, Margaret bent down so that Spencer could get down. Margaret reached her hand into her pocket as there was slight jingling of car keys. When the car keys were out of Margaret's pocket she lightly tossed the keys to ber daughter who caught them swiftly.
Mal had a small smile on her face as she nodded her head at her mother, before Mal walked towards her mother and brought her for a hug. The two hugged for a moment before they let go of the hug. After their embrace Mal grabbed her and Spencer's bags, and with that, the mother and daughter left the house.
Mal opened the garage door and as it was opening, Mal had put Spencer in the passenger seat even if she isn't supposed to be there. She didn't care as she also knows that Spencer is still shaken up a bit of what happened. Mal had loaded the car with the three bags that she had brought, and then she got into the driver's seat, and started the car. Mal looked up and saw her mother by the door that comnected the garage to the house. Margaret blew a kiss and Spencer giggled as she pretended to catch it, which made Mal smile. The last words that Mal said to her mom was i love you.
After that Mal drove out of the driveway and turned a corner at a stop sign, and she was gone. A couple hours later, Mal stopped in a cheap motel in Portland, Oregon. Mal got Spencer out of the car, then she grabbed the bags and walked into the motel. After paying for a room, that is when Spencer woke up.
"Mommy? Where are we?" Spencer asked as she fell asleep twenty minutes after they passed Olympia, Washington. Mal had let her daughter sleep until she woke up by herself.
"We are in Oregon. We're gonna stay here for a while, baby." Mal said as moments later she was startled by her phone ringing. She wasted no time of answering it.
"Hey, honey." Was the comforting voice of Sam which made Mal sigh as she missed his voice so much. She wished that they could be together right now, she wants to be in the comfort of Sam's arms.
"Hi." Was all that Mal could muster as she let a couple tears fall down her cheeks, at the overwhelming feeling of what happened earlier and the fact of how much Mal misses her boyfriend. Sam knew that how Mal said that and nothing else, that something happened, as when he heard some slight sniffles in the background, that something did happen today.
"Hey, hey. It's okay, baby. What happened?" Sam asked as that is when Mal let out a sob, which made Sam's heart break even more, as Dean and Whitney turned their heads as they are at a diner eating dinner. The father and daughter didn't say anything, as in syncronized they tilted their heads in confusion.
"Everything happened. I miss you, so much baby." Mal said to Sam as he sighed as he brushed his hand through his hair.
"I know you do baby. We are outside of Boulder, Colorado right now. Are you still in Seattle?" Sam says as Mal shook her head no, as she sniffled again, then he heard the sounds of Mal blowing her nose. Dean had his brows furrowed as he took a bite out of his cheeseburger, Whitney took a drink from her chocolate milk.
"We just got to Portland, Oregon." Mal said which made Sam confused and more worried about Mal.
'Why is she there?' He thought in his head.
"Why you there?" He asked as Mal sniffled her nose again as he heard her softly crying in the background.
"I left Spence alone with Dad for an hour, she was sleeping when I left. Not long after I left, I'm guessing something happened, as when I came back home there was no sight of Spence. I thought that she was still sleeping, so I helped Mom put away the groceries but I had a gut feeling that something was wrong. I found out that Dad had put Spence in a closet as apparently she wasn't listening when he told her to go back upstairs. So he did what he did to me as a kid and locked her in a closet for God knows how long." Mal explained - well more like she ranted but Sam listened to everything that Mal said. What made Dean more confused was Sam dropping his fork as he was eating a salad.
It took Sam a couple moments to think of what to say, as he couldn't think of anything. After he couldn't find the words he finally said something. "Is she okay? Can I talk to her?" Sam asked as there was some shuffling of the phone which made Sam have a small smile growing on his face.
"Hi, daddy." Spencer says to her dad, which made Sam's smile only grow at hearing his daughter's voice. He was really missing her. This is the longest time that they have been separated from each other and it was killing him as much as it was killing Mal and Spencer.
"Hey, babygirl. I miss you, so so much." Sam says which made Spencer get into a fit of giggles as Whitney and Dean syncronized took a sip from their drinks, like this was a tv show.
It is oddly interesting if they so themselves.
"When can I see you again?" Spencer asked as Sam sighed at his daughter, as Mal brushed her hands through her daughter's hair. Seeing Spencer happy of hearing her Dad's voice is the happiest thing ever.
"Hopefully soon, baby." Sam says which wasn't the answer that Spencer wanted to hear as she had a slight frown on her face as her giggles turned into a sad frown.
All she wants is to see her Dad, is that too much to ask. Apparently it is.
"When is that going to be?" Spencer asked Sam which made him sigh. He just wants to quit hunting with his brother and go back to his girlfriend and daughter.
"Soon baby. Soon." Sam says to his daughter as he heard Spencer sighing as he brushed a hand through his hair. Knowing that this is hard for Spencer as it is hard for him too.
"Okay, Daddy. I love you." Spencer says to her Dad which made his heart clench as Whitney was leaning her head onto her Dad's side as Dean took a french fry from Whitney's plate and ate it.
"Tell, Mama I love her, okay baby." Sam tells his daughter as Spencer nodded her head as she leaned her body on her mother's side.
"I will, love you." Spencer says to her Dad as in her lap she has her stuffef giraffe.
"I love you, baby. More than you know." Sam says to her as a couple moments later Spencer hung up as she gave her mother's phone back to her as she sighed.
"You will see Daddy soon okay." Mal reassures her daughter even if it didn't help.
"When is that going to be?" Spencer grumbled under her breath as Mal turned her hesd towards her daughter. "When is soon going to be?" She added as Mal sighed knowing why Spencer is like this.
"Look, I know you aren't happy about this as neither am I but you need some patience baby. I know you want Daddy, believe me so do I. I know this isn't easy for you. Trust me, baby you will see Daddy soon. I don't know when soon is, but it will happen." Mal explains to her daughter as Spencer groaned at her mother as she didn't want to hear thatm
The more that she hears the word: soon, the more that she isn't going to like hearing it.
Spencer didn't say anything to her mother as she got up and walked towards the bathroom and she slammed the door. Mal leaned her head on the headboard behind her, she closed her eyes. She knows that this is going to be easy for Spencer but she can't help but worry about Sam, as the more the days go by she becomes more suspicious about Sam being gone with his brother.
Yes, she knowd that Dean and Whitney are Sam's family, but whst was suspicipus from the beginning was Sam taking off in the middle of the night just to go find his father, as Mal knows how Sam feels about his father as she heard countless stories about Sam growing up.
But she can't help but wonder, if he is telling the truth.
