third person's pov
later that night

Sam, Dean and Whitney are all sitting in a bar table. "So, Blackwater Ridge doesn't get a lot of traffic. Local campers, mostly. But still, this past April, two hikers went missing out there. They were never found." Sam says as he pulls out John's journal.

"Any before that?" Dean asked as Whitney is drinking water, as she was heartbroken that the bar didn't have chocolate milk.

Sam pulls out newspaper articles to show Dean. "Yeah, in 1982, eight different people all vanished in the same year. Authorities said it was a grizzly attack." Sam says.

Dean reads the headline in The Lost Creek Gazette:
GRIZZLY BEAR ATTACKS!
UP TO EIGHT HIKERS VANISH IN LOST CREEK AREA
HIKERS DISAPPEARANCE BAFFLE AUTHORITIES'

Sam pulls out his laptop. "And again in 1959, and again before that in 1936." Sam says as he opens the laptop, which already has a window tab open to Tommy's video. "Every twenty-three years, just like clockwork. Okay. Watch this. Here's a clincher. I downloaded that guy Tommy's video to the laptop. Check this out." Sam says as he pulls up the video and goes through three frames of the video one at a time. A shadow crosses the screen.

"Do it again." Dean says as Whitney is watching, as      she is sitting on her uncle's lap.

Sam repeats the frames. "That's three frames. That's fraction of a second. Whatever that thing is, it can move." He says, as Dean hits his arm, and he looks up.

"Told you something weird was going on." Dean says.

"Yeah." Sam says as he closes the laptop. "I got one more thing." He says as he hands over another newspaper article. "In 'fifty-nine one camper survived this supposed grizzly attack. Just a kid, barely crawled out of the woods alive." Sam says as Dean looks at the article.

"Is there a name?" Dean asked as Whitney finished her water.

On the way to this Shaw guy's house, Whitney fell asleep, as her snores filled the silence of the Impala. Dean couldn't help but smile at hearing his daughter sleeping ever so peacefully. He is almost tempted of bring her back to the motel, but Whitney wouldn't want to wake up in an empty room.

He made that mistake once.

He doesn't want to make it again.

After Sam and Dean finished talking to the Shaw guy about getting some more information, Sam and Dean raise that maybe this isn't some killer grizzly bear, maybe it is something more.

Whitney stirred in her sleep, as Dean holds her in his arms. "It's okay, baby. Go back to bed." Dean mutters in her ear, as she has her face buried into his neck. He uses his right hand to rub her back, which slowly helps her fall back asleep.

"Spirits and demons don't have to unlock doors. If they want inside, they just go through the walls." Dean says.

"So, it's probably something else, something corporeal." Sam says, as Dean gives his brother a look.

"Corporeal? Excuse me, professor." Dean says to his brother.

"Shut up. So, what do you think?" Sam asked.

"The claws, the speed that it moves.... could be a skin walker, maybe a black dog. Whatever we're talking about, we're talking about a creature, and it's corporeal. Which means we can kill it."

Dean opens the trunk of the Impala, then the weapons box, and props it open with a shotgun. He puts some guns in a duffel bag, Sam leans in.

"We cannot let that Haley girl go out there." Sam says.

"Oh yeah? What are we going to tell her? That she can't go into the woods because of a big scary monster?" Dean asked sarcastically.

"Yeah." Sam says, as Dean looks at Sam.

"Her brother's missing, Sam. She's not going to just sit this out. Now we go with her, we protect her, and we keep our eyes peeled for our fuzzy predator friend."

Dean picks up the duffel bag. "Finding Dad's not enough?" Sam asked his brother.

Sam slams the weapons box shut, then the trunk.

"Now we gotta babysit too?" Dean asked.

Dean stares at Sam. "What?" Sam asked.

"Nothing."  Dean says as he throws the duffel bag at Sam and walks off. Sam stares after him.

the next morning

After Whitney woke up that is when her dad and Uncle Sam were getting ready to go protect this Haley girl, or whatever, she wasn't paying attention to that kind of information. She was halfly paying attention.

"Come on baby, get dressed we have to go." Dean says to Whitney as he dug into her bag, and grabbed some clothes which was her Metallica hoodie, black leggings, a band t-shirt and her converse which was on her side of the bed from the previous night.

"Kay." Whitney said with a sleepy yawn, as she grabbed her clothes and walked to the bathroom, and she closed the door. Dean finished packing up the stuff, mainly Whitney's stuff, which wasn't much.

A couple minutes later, Whitney came out of the bathroom in her clothes as she had her PJs in her hands, as she gave her PJs to her dad who put them in her bag.

"Get on the bed baby, and stand up?" Dean asked, as Whitney climbed on the bed, she tried to stand up, so she stood on the bed without moving. "Knees baby." Whitney got on her knees and when she was positioned, Dean brushed her hair with his hands. He did a simple ponytail when he finished with her hair he kissed her head. "Ready to roll, baby?" He asked her as she nods her head, though it ended with a sleepy smile.

Dean picked up Whitney with one hand and her bag in the other. She didn't waste any time putting her head onto her dad's shoulder, slowly drifting back to sleep.

On the way to where the Haley girl was, Sam did a check in with Mal, and he said that the three of them were going camping in the woods. Which was odd, as Sam isn't the camping type, but he said that his brother is. She dropped the matter and told him to be safe and to call her in the morning.

Twenty minutes later the Impala pulls up where the Haley girl was going to see where her brother was. Sam, Dean and a half sleepy Whitney get out of the car, as Sam picked up Whitney, and gave her a piggyback ride. Sam opens the back door of the Impala and pulls out the duffel bag.

"You guys got room for three more?" Dean asked motioning to Whitney as she has her arms wrapped around her uncle.

"Wait, you want to come with us?" Haley asked, as Dean nods his head.

"Who are these guys, and the kid?" Roy who was the guy that Haley had hired.

"Apparently, this is all the park service could muster for the search and rescue." Haley says pointing to the brothers. "The girl is Sam's daughter."

"I couldn't find a babysitter." Sam says to Roy, who seemed skeptical.

"You're rangers?" Roy asked.

"That's right." Dean says as Sam walks past everyone.

"And you're hiking out in biker boots and jeans?" Haley asked.

Dean looks down at himself, before looking back up at Haley. "Well, sweetheart, I don't do shorts." Dean says as he walks past Haley.

"What, you think this is funny? It's dangerous back country out there. Her brother might be hurt." Roy says as Sam turns back, as Whitney rolled her eyes, as she clung onto her uncle, as his hands are holding her legs on his sides.

"Believe me. I know how dangerous it can be. We just want to help them find their brother, that's all."  Dean says as Dean walks towards Sam.

little later

The group hikes through the forest, Roy is in the lead, then Dean, Haley and Ben, and then Sam and Whitney in the rear. Whitney is now holding Sam's hand as she wanted to get down.

"Roy, you said you did a little hunting."  Dean says trying to make conversation with Roy.

"Yeah, more than a little." Roy said.

"Uh-uh. What kind of furry critters do you hunt?" Dean asked him.

"Mostly buck, sometimes bear." Roy says as Dean passes Roy.

"Tell me, uh, Bambi or Yogi ever hunt you back?" Dean asked, as Roy grabs Dean. "Whatcha doin, Roy?"

Roy grabs a stick and pokes the bear trap, Dean had almost stepped in. Haley looks annoyed. "You should watch where you're stepping, Ranger."

Roy drops the stick and retakes the lead. "It's a - a bear trap." Dean says as they continue their hike, as Haley catches up to Dean.

"You didn't pack any provisions. You guys are carrying a duffel bag, and a Dora backpack. You're not rangers." Haley says as she grabs Dean's arm. "So, who the hell are you?"

Ben goes past Haley and Dean. Sam looks at Dean, who indicates with his expression. Sam obeys as Dean watches him and Whitney go for a moment.

"Sam and I are brothers, and we're looking for our father. Whitney is actually my daughter, not Sam's. He might be here, but we don't know. I just figured that you and me we're in the same boat. I mean with your brother missing my father missing." Dean admits to Haley.

"Why didn't you just tell me that from the start?" Haley asked.

"I'm telling you now. 'Sides, it's probably the most honest I've even been with a woman, besides Whitney's mom.... ever. So, we, okay?" Dean asked.

"Yeah, okay." Haley says after a moment.

"And what do you mean I didn't pack provisions?" Dean asked as he pulls out a bag of peanut M&M's, and he sticks his hand in the bag as he hikes on.

little later

Roy is still leading the way, as now Whitney is by her dad as now Dean is giving Whitney a piggyback ride, and the peanut M&M's are in Whitney's hand, as she is feeding her Dad one at a time.

"This is it. Blackwater Ridge." Roy says as Whitney sighs happily, as Sam walks past Roy.

"What coordinates are we at?" Sam asked.

Roy pulls out a GPS, which reads N 35° 45,383, W 111°.

"Thirty-five, and minus one-eleven." Roy says as Whitney let out a little yawn, as she is getting tired of walking and camping.

Even if they haven't settled down for the night. She just wants to go back to the motel and watch Scooby Doo on the TV.

Dean comes up to Sam, and they listen to their surroundings. "You hear that?" Dean asked his brother.

"Yeah, not even crickets." Sam says.

"I'm going to take a look around." Roy says.

"You shouldn't go off by yourself." Sam says, as when Roy wasn't looking, Whitney stuck out her tongue at the man.

"That's sweet. Don't worry about me." Roy says as he waves his gun and pushes between Dean and Sam to retake the lead. Dean turns back to the others as Ben and Haley catch up.

"Alright, everybody stays together. Let's go." Dean says.

not that long later

Dean, Whitney, Sam, Ben and Haley are looking around near a large rock as for Whitney's safety Dean told her to sit on a boulder, she didn't protest as she is playing with a stick that she found to distract herself for a couple minutes.

"Haley! Over here!" Roy yells as Whitney's ears perk up, but she doesn't move.

Haley runs towards Roy's voice, followed closely by the others, as Dean turned around and motioned for Whitney to come. She didn't waste any time getting up and following her dad.

The group comes to a halt, and Whitney made the mistake of turning around as she got distracted by a squirrel running with a nut in its mouth. That's when she saw the bloody campsite.

"Oh, my god." Haley mumbles. Her brother and his friends' trnts are torn opem and bloody and their supplies are scattered everywhere in every possible direction.

Whitney cowers behind her Dad as she keeps a grip onto her stuffed bunny as she left her elephant in the car.

"Looks like a grizzly." Roy says, as Whitney has the bottom of her dad's jacket balled into a fist.

"Tommy?" Haley calls, taking her backpack and walking off. "Tommy!"

Sam puts the duffel bag as Whitney's ears perked up at a sound in the distance but she didn't question it.

"Something might still be out there." Sam says to Haley.

"Sam!" Dean calls.

Sam goes over to Dean giving a reassuring look to Whitney as he passes her as she hadn't moved from her spot.

"The bodies were dragged from the campsite. But here, the tracks just vanish. That's weird." Dean says and they stand up. "I'll tell you what, that's no skinwalker or black dog."

They go back to the others and Haley picks up Tommy's bloody and definitely broken cellphone. Dean crouches next to her.

"Hey, he could still be alive." Dean says.

"Help! Help!" They hear someone yell in the distance.

Roy runs off, Dean immediately follows, before the other three people follow as well. Leaving Whitney alone at the campsite, all alone.

By herself.

Just her and her stuffed bunny.

She felt a bubbly feeling happening in her body, as it felt like her body was changing and not in a good way. She shrunk a little, and just when her body changed there was a small howl that comes out of her mouth. Whitney looked down at her, she looked to be closer to the ground than she was before. She knows that she is short, but she isn't this short.

Just then something harshly grabbed her by the scruff of her neck and she vanished from the campsite as her stuffed bunny was the only thing that was left behind.

There was no sight of Whitney to be seen anywhere.
