Without expecting it, the demon cat became my "house cat". The apartment owner forbids pets and I can't just bring anyone without their consent!

"W-What do you mean for a year.. together.. what?" I feel like I'm dumbfounded, what games? What challenges?

"The first challenge already started by the time we crossed paths. Now to seal the deal," Loki just says whatever he wants to say and at the moment he seems to be more excited than earlier. He takes a step forward and leans in to me, once again, he's being too close.

"Stop standing so near!" Uncomfortable, I tried to push him away with my hands, but I guess I'm too weak to push down a demon! I closed my eyes the same time I pushed him.

But when I opened my eyes, I felt something around my neck. I looked down with a confused face.

..a choker? Is this a freaking choker? I raised a brow. I looked back to Loki who was smirking.

"It's a proof that we are bound by our contract. I'm the cat, you're the dog." Loki obviously doesn't mean the dog part but.. the black choker with a silver cross on it glowed for a second.

"Dog? Don't decide things for yourself, cat!" I said with an angry face as I try to take off the choker, but there's no way for me to take it off. I tried and failed so many times while Loki laughs as he watches me try.

"Hahaha.. what a weak human girl you are." Loki mocks me. He opened the window in my room and sticks his leg out.

"W-What are you going to do?" Curious, I walked up to him a little closer.

"You do not have to know. Just know the night is full of demons, so I will lurk around outside." Loki gave me one last look and he jumped off the window without thinking twice.

I wondered what he would do, so I quickly ran up to the open window, the winter breeze enters my room and blows my hair. I looked down and found him transform mid-air, from human to cat. I watch with my mouth hanging open.

The moonlight kisses his black fur.. and he walks calmly on the snow, it gives off a serene feeling. Until he jumps away and disappears from my sight.

I closed my windows, shut close all the possible entrance and locked my door.

"For a moment, I was alone in my house with a demon cat.. not to mention, a really bad one who looks really good.." I talk to myself while I cover myself with my blanket. I'm not certain if what I'm feeling is fear or curiosity.. anxiousness or excitement?

Finally, something new is happening to me in my life. Is Loki the answer to my questions? Will that cat be able to take away the bad luck in me.. so I can spend time safely and freely with my friends?

Countless thoughts run inside my head.. "But one thing is for sure, all of this is real." I told myself as I touch the choker that was worn around my neck.

Author's POV

The next morning..

Alleria fell asleep without knowing it. But now she awakens to the warm sensation of heat next to her..

She opens her eyes once, her vision is still blurry, but she already caught glimpse of a person sleeping next to her. So she blinks her eyes a couple of times and rubs her eyes.

One last look before she explodes.. "KYA!!!!" Alleria screamed as she tried to slap Loki's face.

Loki seemed like he was sleeping peacefully, yet he managed to catch her hand, stopping her attack.

"What when where how and why?!?!?!?!" Alleria throws her hands up in a panic.

"Will you be quiet, human? Your master is trying to rest here, can't you see?" Loki talks with his eyes closed.

"What are you doing in here? When did you get here? Where did you come from? How did you get in? And lastly,WHY ARE YOU ON MY BED?" Alleria asks all her questions with speed. She emphasizes the word "my" to remind Loki of her ownership and privacy.

"Are you rapping? It's not impressive. Again.. I am a demon, human. Now be quiet or else I will punish you! If you don't want to share, buy me a new bed or get off my bed." Loki says with a muffled tone of voice as he speaks with his face buried against one of the pillows.

"It's MY bed! You're too cocky for a cat!!" Alleria yells at him. "(As a girl, I can't let a boy who is much like a stranger, sleep around my house and moreover, on my bed with me!) " Alleria's thoughts are worried.

"I'm not interested in your feminity, woman! Stop thinking of ill thoughts!" Loki suddenly sat up and said with a sleepy look on his face.

Startled, Alleria fell off the bed. She yelps in pain but Loki ignores her and tries to go back to sleep.

"How can you hear my thoughts?!?!" Alleria asks him loudly but then..

The sound of her alarm rang and she is reminded that she has class today. Quickly, she gets up and runs around to prepare. A few number of slips and bumps, Alleria is truly unlucky lately.

Finally done with all the arrangements, Alleria heads out.

"Don't mess up my home again, Loki!" Alleria decided to call him by his name. She yelled as she ran out the door, which the cat, Loki was able to hear but he pays no attention to.

In school

Shyly and awkwardly, she steps into the classroom. Alleria is in the same class as Hakuryuu, Takumi and Nakahara. They were both her close friends aside from Hakuryuu.

"Hey, Ria-chan." Takumi greets her, but unlike usual, Alleria only gives him a nod with a smile.

Nakahara and Hakuryuu only stares at her silently. However, the way Hakuryuu looks at her.. nearly seems like he badly wants to speak with her.

"Must be hard for you, bro." Takumi tapped Hakuryuu by the shoulder.

Hakuryuu and Takumi sits next to each other. Behind Hakuryuu was Alleria and behind her was Nakahara.

Seeing that she is an outcast once again.. the bullies who loathed her for a long time makes their move.

They threw tiny pieces of rolled or crumpled paper at Alleria, but she was used to it. She endures it all in silence. Her own bad luck seems to be starting.. she doesn't intend to fight back because all of these people.. experienced bad luck because of her too.

Some of them are not "victims" of her "bad luck" but just jealous "fans" or "admirers" of Takumi. Although Takumi and her are just friends, they gave malicious meanings to every interactions the two made.

Realizing that their friend is in trouble, Nakahara was about to speak up while Takumi was about to make a move, however, it is Hakuryuu who no longer waited who acted first.

"Hit her again one more time and I'll hit you all a hundred times worse" Hakuryuu glared at their classmates.

Alleria knew it would happen, so she only remained silent.

Takumi sighs while Nakahara shakes her head. The "bullies" looks away in fear. That is one of the main reasons why a "kind person" like Hakuryuu had to look "intimidating". For the sake of protecting Alleria.

During break time..

Alleria was in front of the open window in the hallway. There were only a few people around. She takes her scarf off and her choker given by Loki was visible. She was watching outside.. because she wonders if the black cat will follow her around again.

"Alleria" Hakuryuu calls out to her, she turns around without thinking twice.

She only realized it when it was too late. "Y-Yuu-chin.." she whispers his name.

"Is that.. a necklace? It.. uhm, looks nice on you. Anyway, I-" Hakuryuu cut himself off when he realized there's a wound on Alleria's knee. His face immediately seemed worried and  his body unconsciously moved on its own, he quickly rushed by her side. "What happened to your knee?!" He asked, concern can be heard in his voice and sincerity is seen in his eyes.

"Oh.. this? Probably scraped my knees when I crawled out fron the depths of hell, cause I'm one huge unlucky fallen angel." Alleria jokes around sarcastically paired with a sad smile.

No more words, Hakuryuu drags her to the clinic and asks the nurse to let him be the one to treat her wound, in which the school nurse agreed.

Gently applying the band aid, there's still an awkward silence between Hakuryuu and Alleria.

"You don't have to do this for me" Alleria mutters.

"If I don't, who will?" Hakuryuu asked her.

"I'm not a kid. We're not kids anymore." Alleria looks away.

"Do you hate me?" Hakuryuu asks with a sad face, his face shows pain.

"No! I will never.. I just hate myself!" Alleria almost shouted at him.

"If you hate yourself, then repent. Don't be selfish and leave me all alone, suffer by being with me, or with us." Hakuryuu pleads, as if he's desperate to argue.. for the sake of not "losing her".

"Isn't that going to make everything bad, Hakuryuu? I'm better off alone." Alleria called him by his name, which hurt him deep inside.

Hakuryuu finally fell silent. After fixing her up, he stands up and quietly leaves the clinic, like a broken man. The nurse who witnessed or heard everything just looks at them with an awkward smile.

"Sorry about this ma'am" Alleria faked her smile as she walks out the clinic.

As she shut the door close, she found the window in front open.. along its grid sat the black cat that she strangely wanted to see.

"Your will desires to see thy master. I see you are burdened by yet another problem." Said the cat, the message was trasmitted through mental telepathy since Loki was in his cat form.

Once again, she came face to face with Loki, the demon cat. How many times has he surprised her now? Her eyes widens..

"You are wondering if that pain is part of your bad luck too. Unfortunately, it's not. Ironic." The cat said.

The cat immediately leaves soon after.. it was as if.. the demon just dropped by to let her feel like it's not the worst pain she'll feel, for there will be more.
