"What... w a s t h a t . . ?" Breathless, Val finally looks at Kira, who has been dead silent ever since picking up the phone, "Is... there more of it...?"

   Kira now looks at her, rage and guilt built up in her eyes,

"that fucker is going to 𝐝 𝐢 𝐞."

   Those were her last words before storming off, her stomps filled with power and unbridled anger.

"W-WAIT!!!" Val followed, carrying both of their bags while struggling with her bad arm.

Kira grumbles to herself, hissing in frustration whenever she doesn't find them in a certain spot.

"What's going on?!?! Can you please tell me???" Val, now terrified, keeps up the pace that Kira is going at and tries to get answers.

Down many hallways, Kira seems to have a realization, freezing in place.

"They aren't here."

"Satsuki isn't??" Val tries to grasp the situation.

Kira glares back down at the phone.

A few new messages has made it buzz softly.

"I know who you are. I know what you're trying to do."

Kira swallowed while going to the message app to look at more of the replies.

"Suki will never be free. She will always be with me."

Soon the messages became all caps:

"YOU CANT FUCKING DO ANYTHING. YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING. NOBODY WILL EVER FIND OUT, ILL MAKE SURE YOU GUYS DIE."

"What the fuck?" Val looked over her shoulder, seeing everything Marius was texting.

   Kira gripped the phone tightly, trembling while breathing rapidly.

   Me: "Satsuki isn't someone in your possession. We will save her. And we'll make sure you fucking 𝐩𝐚𝐲 for what you did."

   She immediately shoves the phone in her pocket, turning around to look at the shell shocked Val.

   "I'm going to their house. I'm sorry I dragged you into this. If you want, you can leave."

   "..." Val looked around, then down at the ground, "... I wanna help."

   "Really...?" Kira stared at her gratefully.

   "Yes. I can't just stand around knowing all of this."

   "Okay. Thank you, Val."

    "Mhm."

   They walked in silence while the sun set gently. Skipping their afternoon classes, Val and Kira both headed in awkward emptiness to find Satsuki.

   "So... who is this Marius guy?" Almost too scared to asked, Val kept her head down.

   "... that's her brother." Kira sighed, still not believing the whole situation.

   Val froze.

   "What's wrong...?" Despite knowing the obvious elephant in the room, Kira turned around to see Val staring at her feet.

   ". . . i k n o w w h a t y o u v e d o n e ." Val gripped her hands in fists.

   "Huh?" She cocked her head, confused.

   ". . . f a t h e r . . . h o w c o u l d y o u d o . . .

   𝐭 𝐡 𝐚 𝐭 . . . ?"

   "Father?... are you okay?" Kira started to walk up to her.

   "t h i s . . . f a i l e d . m o r e m e n .

   M O R E M E N ."

   "Val...?"  She reached out her hand.

   "What's up?" Val glanced back up, smiling.

   "Uhm... you were acting weird..." Kira gave a concerned glare, making Val turn her head.

   "I thought we were heading to Satsuki's house. Come on!" She grabbed her by the hand, dragging Kira along.

   "B-But!!! oh... forget it..."

   "This is the house." They stood in front of the door.

   "What if they aren't here?" Val pondered, getting anxious.

   "Hopefully it won't come to that."

   *DING DONG*
