Training by training had passed. Match by match was done perfectly. The regulars had noticed that the yonin ichinen were growing stronger than the rest of them. Carlos with his speed. Katsuyuki with his strength. Mei with his throwing techniques. And last but not least, Aire with her strategies.
"You're going to give me a call, right, Aire-chan?" Mei clung to her side. They were now in the trainstation.
The girl shared a look with both Carlos and Katsuyuki before sighing. She knew Mei had an attachment issue towards his friends, but sometimes it became a pain in the ass.
"I will, Mei. Now, let go." Aire harshly pushed Mei away, letting Carlos catched and caged him so he would not come anywhere near her.
"It's just 3 days, anyway." Katsuyuki grumbled.
Mei narrowed his eyes. "And why are you going with her?"
Both Katsuyuki and Aire sent Mei a glare, knowing well that the boy actually knew the reason why.
"We're wasting our time, let's go, Oikawa."
Aire followed Katsuyuki coming inside the bullettrain. It took several hours in total silence for them to reach Miyagi, where Aire was born and raised.
"Do you want to directly go to the cementary first or should we drop our bags home first?" Aire asked Katsuyuki tiredly as they walked from the station.
"Let's walked around for a bit. I need to stretch my legs."
Aire wanted to protest, she only brought her duffle bag, not a suitcase like Katsuyuki did. However, seeing how tense Katsuyuki was, Aire took pity on him. It must be hard for him to come back to this city, especially when there was no good memory for him at all.
"Alright." The girl sighed as they walked silently.
Both teenagers were lost in their own minds when cheering sound were heard with band music complementing them.
"There must be a tournament happening right now." Aire hummed, casting a glance toward Katsuyuki. "Do you want to check it out?"
Katsuyuki shrugged, but he walked toward the voice, leading them to a stadium. There were lots of highschool kids—they were either in their school uniforms or jerseys. Katsuyuki and Aire were both wearing their school jackets, gaining several attentions from the crowd.
Katsuyuki and Aire was reading the news board near the entry when someone called Aire up.
"Oikawa."
Both teenagers looked up and found a crowd of teenagers wearing white and purple jerseys behind them. By instinct Katsuyuki took a step forward, glaring the boys off so they would not take a step forward.
"Are~, did you just call one of them by Oikawa, Wakatoshi-kun?" A creepy eyed spiky red haired boy asked, leaning half if his weight on Ushijima Wakatoshi while looking down to the duo Inashiro.
"Em." Wakatoshi nodded.
Surprised was seen on his teammates' faces. "Oikawa.... as in Seijoh's Oikawa Tooru?"
Aire could see how Katsuyuki instantly tensed up. He balled his fist tightly and clenched his jaws.
Oh, no. Aire thought. Katsuyuki might cause a fight here.
Aire pulled Katsuyuki behind her and looked directly onto Wakatoshi's eyes, hoping the crowd's attention turned to her instead of Katsuyuki.
"It's been a long time, Ushi."
Wakatoshi frowned. "You still haven't learnt some respect, have you?"
The girl shrugged. A cocky grin grazed her face. "Well... I definitely don't bow down to those who are lesser than me. Do you?"
A weird raven haired boy shouted behind the red head. "What do you mean by that?! Why do you sound so insulting?!"
"Oikawa Aire," A sandy haired boy stated, looking at the girl with excitement. "the only girl allowed to participate in men's national sports tournaments including volleyball. She had beaten up Ushijima 6 times in a row when she was merely 11 and 12 years old "
His statement made Ushijima and his teammates froze.
"A good old days." Aire hummed, her body went relaxed. "You did your homework right."
"Y-you're that Oikawa Aire, aren't you?" One of Ushijima cliques asked.
Aire nodded her head when she noticed Ushijima suddenly stood in front of her. Even though Aire grown an inch since her junior high, Ushijima was way taller than her. The boy put his hand on her head and patted her a few times.
"What are you doing?" Aire swatted his hand away.
"You're still tiny." He stated stoically. "Are you here to watch your brother's match?"
"Tooru's having a match?" Aire looked up in surprise.
"He is. Against some school called Karasuno if I'm not mistaken." The spiky red haired said.
Without saying anything, Aire bolted inside the stadium. True to what Ushijima said, the familiar tosca jerseys were filling the court. Aire looked up to the score board, noting how they were on the last inning and the score was not far apart.
The play was thick with tension, the ball was passed back and forth between two teams. That was until Aire noticed a familiar blueberry eyes raven haired boy on the opposite team. Instead of the egoistical boy that played alone she used to know, Aire noticed how different her childhood friend was at the moment. He relied on his team and showed trust. And that said a lot for Kageyama Tobio.
"Tobio..." Aire mumbled as the ball fell into Tobio's side of court.
"What a loser." Katsuyuki scoffed as they walked back toward the entry of the building.
Aire casted a final glance toward her childhood friend, he was looking down with his hands clenched together. As they were about to go out of the building, a voice called for her with a body slammed right to the girl. Now, if Aire's guard was down, she might have fallen down already. Thankfully, she shifted swiftly as the body who slammed to her fell onto the ground, leaving the girl standing above him.
"Tooru." Aire scolded.
A sigh came above her, indicating that Hajime was now standing behind her. He then murmured, "I really am apologize for his behavior."
"It can't be help. He's stupid." Katsuyuki reached out for Aire before Tooru tried to hug her for the second time.
"Hey!" Tooru protested, reaching for Aire again. This time, both Katsuyuki and Aire let him though without a killer glare. Inashiro students knew that Tooru had his pesona up, usually manipulating people around him to love him even more.
"I dunno you come all the way here from Tokyo just to see nii-chan's game, Ai-chan." Yep, definitely fake.
"Tomorrow's mom's death anniversary." Aire mumbled, making her brother to snap his head up to Katsuyuki.
Tooru narrowed his eyes to the redhead. "So that's why you're here, huh, Katsu-chan?"
Katsuyuki's glare intensified. "I don't recall allowing you to call me that, you shithead."
"Oh?" Tooru raised his eyebrow as he hugged Aire from behind. "Even though I'm your older brother too?"
