"So, Haruichi, what did Ryo-san said about you going to Seidou next year?" Aire asked while braiding Haruichi's fringe.
The said boy shook his head in defeat. "Aniki didn't really say anything."
"Will he come to our game later on?"
"Perhaps. He said he needs to teach you a lesson since you deciced to not go to Seidou."
Aire looked pale. "Damn."
"Is this Ryo-san also plays baseball?" Atsumu finally broke his silence.
Both Haruichi and Aire nodded. "Aniki was the one taught us how to play baseball."
"Yeah." A fond smile appeared on Aire's face. "Ryo-san might not show it, but he cares. He's someone we look up to, isn't that right, Haruichi?"
Haruichi nodded in affirmation, but then frowned. "This will be the last time we play as a team since you're graduating."
Aire gave the boy a pat on the head. "That's true."
"And since we'll play that team, let's do our best."
"Em." Aire nodded.
Both Atsumu and Osamu saw how affectionate the girl towards the shorter boy, which made the twins internally smiled. When they arrived at the stadion, the twins could not help but awed. The place was totally different from the volleyball ones and it gave off different vibes. A group wearing the same uniform as the girl was waiting at the back entrace.
"Aire!"
"I thought you're gonna bail on us, teme!"
"Ai-chan, you're late!"
Aire bid her goodbyes to the twins and walked away to her team with Haruichi hot at her tail. She then went to discuss the strategies with their kantoku after getting ready. The coin was tossed and their team got the chance to bat.
The twins decided to sit closer to the field. It was when they saw another pink haired boy that looked just like Haruichi with several people sharing his baseball uniform. The twins sat silently behind the baseball players as the game started.
"Juugyou Club, first batter: Inoo Kei."
A shaggy haired boy came into the plate. He was rather tall for his age, positioning himself quite far from the strike zone. The pitcher was ready and threw his first ball. It was ball. A smirk grazed into Kei's face as he once again positioning himself quite far from the strike zone. A snicker then heard from the twins' front, breaking their concetration from the game.
"Naruhodo." The pink haired boy smirked while crossing his hands.
"What is it, Kominato?"
"Look how before the pitcher throws his ball, the batter would always look at the bench."
"It's not weird, though?" A brownish haired boy with beard replied. "The kantoku must has given him instruction."
"Maybe." The smirk on the older Kominato stayed. "But I know this trick like the back of my hand. Chris, what do you think of the batter's strategy?"
Everyone's head turned to the wavy haired boy. The said boy, however, had his total attention to the batter who now hit the ball cleanly and ran through 2 bases at once. The other team could not catch the ball in time, resulting Kei went for the third base. Cheers could be heard from the supporters as Kei nodded to the bench's direction.
The second batter came in, this time was a short boy with boyish smile. He went to the plate and confidently holding his bat at the end of the holder.
"Second batter, right fielder: Chinen Yuri."
Yuri's boyish smile grew wider as he saw the ball coming directly towards him. A clean hit was made and the ball lost the fielder. Both Yuri and Kei went back to the home base safely.
The opponent's team soon lost their point, so they changed position. Aire came in with their pitcher in full gears. She confidently joked around with the pitcher before squatted in her position. The girl casted a glance to the batter in front of her before positioning her mitt. The satisfying clean sound of a ball hitting a mitt was heard. It was a strike.
The batter frowned. Did his team not learn enough the opposite's quirks and strategies? The pitcher threw a crossfire, something that the batter team did not know he could do. Another ball was coming, and he barely could hit it. It was now out and low. What would the pitcher throw this time? A masugu that was his speciality? Or what? Before the batter knowing, another sound of the ball meeting the mitt behind him was heard. He now got 3 strikes, making him got outted. That was when he realized that the pitcher did not even paying attention to his surroundings. All the pitcher's attention was only into a brownish point behind the batter. The catcher's mitt.
"This strategy..." Chris hummed. "As I expected."
"What is it, Chris?" Everyone's attention turned back to Chris.
"At first I also thought that Oikawa's team batters were all getting instructions from the kantoku, but now I'm pretty sure it's not."
"Oh?" The oldest Kominato hummed as the Captain frowned. "What do you mean?"
"I think the mastermind of this game is not their kantoku.... but more into the catcher."
"Huh?"
Even Atsumu and Osamu shared a confused look.
