HYBE
The music blared from inside the studio, as Jungkook did his birthday live karaoke. Hoseok had greeted him a few moments ago with his hyped soul and now Jungkook was near-ending his birthday live.
After saying a nice goodbye to Armys he shut his computer down and leaned back on his chair. He had fun. His phone was kept on silent as notifications came in from Armys all over the world.
He silently got up from his chair plugging out the speakers and mic and hummed a song to himself as he cleaned everything. Slinging his duffel bag over his shoulder he turned off the lights as the staff had left long ago.
As his fingers lingered over the last switch, he noticed a silhouette standing outside, a silhouette of a girl leaning against the door frame.
Being all too well familiar with who it was he smiled softly and that smile eventually turned to a happy grin as he flicked the switch off.
Jungkook pulled the door open slightly, not enough to make the girl notice as he drank in every inch of her. Her long hair slithering down her shoulders as her eyelashes drooped, obviously tired, but still patiently waiting for someone.
He then opened the door fully, jerking life into Chaeyoung as she turned around and said, "Happy Birthday, dumbass!" "Wow, thank you, Miss," Jungkook replied with a cocky smirk.
Chae rolled her eyes and was about to walk away when Jungkook asked, "No gift?" Chaeyoung's eyebrows perked up as she turned around and said, "Oh, be glad I wished you."
Knowing it was of no use in arguing with Chaeyoung, Jungkook changed his question and asked, "What are you doing here this late?" 'To wish you a happy birthday, dumbass' was what Chaeyoung wanted to reply.
Instead, she replied, "I was practising with Hoseok Oppa," Chaeyoung lied and Jungkook also knew that, because Hoseok had gone to their dorms early that day. Second thing was, he just knew, he was aware of the fact she was lying, because of some sense working between her and him.
Chaeyoung's mind had a small question lingering, a question to herself, why she wished Jungkook at the night of his birthday only? She assured herself, that it was just because she had that urge of wishing people exactly within an hour of their birthday and nothing else.
"Hey Dorothea, do you ever stop and think about me?" Jungkook skipped his steps singing indirectly as Chaeyoung tried to turn a deaf ear to him.
"We could call it even, you could call me babe for the weekend," Chaeyoung stood back singing back to him. "Funny how these two songs match with our lives, don't they?" Jungkook gave a lopsided grin.
"Our life events are those which are not funny," Chaeyoung said turning around looking at Jungkook by the eye. For a moment Jungkook was intimated by the girl a few months older than him.
"Please Chae, not on my birthday, I beg you," Jungkook pleaded with his voice choking. For a moment Chaeyoung thought he was acting but seeing his doe eyes she realised he was not.
Chaeyoung pressed the buttons of the elevator, as she patiently waited for the elevator to come up. The silence between them was not comfortable at all. Then again, comfortable silence is overrated.
The building was almost empty except for a few lights which were on, because of the few staff working and for security. The fact that Chaeyoung was tired of Jungkook's shit was wrong, she was not. She just wanted Jungkook to realise his mistake.
"Chaeyoung please, I am sorry, I was young and naïve back then." Jungkook said as the elevator came up and made a 'ding' sound. They both got inside and Chae pressed the button for the basement, where her car was parked.
Chaeyoung smiled a smile that was a mixture of triumph and agony. Both wry, with laboured ease of loss. She knew, that someday Jungkook would always realise his mistake.
"Too bad, too late," Chae replied as Jungkook kept quiet not knowing how to answer her. "I do not know if I should forgive you!" Chae sighed and Jungkook looked at the other side.
"You can take your time, Chaeyoung. You can even not forgive me ever. But I am sorry and I will never blame you if you don't forgive me. I would not either if I was in your place." Jungkook said.
And it was true, Jungkook was sorry, and also he knew Chaeyoung could never forgive him. Because he broke her, and now she was a broken mirror, a broken soul. A beautiful mirror when broken becomes sharp. And Chaeyoung became that, a broken girl.
The fact that the idea of a broken prom queen was so overrated, but what happens to those who experience it. What happens when their life has that memory and they are not some singer in a music video but a person in real life?
Chaeyoung turned towards Jungkook and said, "I am a little tipsy you know?" and for a moment he thought she was joking. She was not. If she was not a little tipsy she would reply to Jungkook's apology with a long message. But she didn't.
If she wasn't tipsy, she would not have the courage to tell Jungkook happy birthday and none of this would ever have happened.
Jungkook exhaled, but he knew she was not tipsy enough to not remember any of this, she would, she would remember all of it. Jungkook called up Chae's manager and told him to go home assuring he would leave Chae at her apartment.
Trusting the BTS member Chae's manager left as Jungkook took out the car keys. Holding Chaeyoung's hands, like he was holding a bubble he led her to his car and Chae got in.
If she wasn't tipsy, she would walk home rather get in Jungkook's car. For anyone else, they might even take slight advantage of a tipsy girl.
But Jungkook drove there quietly, with one of his hands resting on Chaeyoung's. He opened Chaeyoung's apartment, made her bed, changed her, or rather, helped her change and made sure she was sleeping.
He then locked the apartment door as he made his way towards the guest room in her apartment. He made the bed and slept in his boxers. "Forgive me," Jungkook wished for his birthday as he fell asleep.
I think it is kind of a filler chapter lol.
