UZO'S POV

As soon as we got down from the car, mama hugged Adaku and I and Eyinna jumped on me. "Sister Uzo, sister Ada" Papa smiled as he watched us. Every one looked happy. There was one face I hadn't seen.

Adaku voiced out my thought "Where is brother Edozie?"

Mama smiled "He went out. He'll be back soon. Come on let's go inside. I have prepared a special meal for you two"

Adaku and I walked behind mama and papa. My hands intertwined with Eyinna's as I took in my surrounding. The house had been renovated. Things seemed to be really going great for my family and I was happy about it.

After a meal of jollof rice and chicken, Adaku and I retired to our rooms. My room was also repainted. It was painted blue, my favorite color. I smiled in excitement and walk over to my wardrobe. I opened it and brought out my phone as a wide grin spread across my face. I immediately subscribed and turned on my mobile data. I dropped my phone on my bed so that all the messages would come in while I went to my bathroom to have a quick shower.

After my cold shower, I decided on a white T-shirt and a pair of black leggings. I heard a car honk in the compound and I pulled my curtains and really there was a car in our compound. A Toyota highlander. The car's door opened and Edozie came down. Oh my God! My brother is now a yahoo boy! I screamed mentally. I couldn't see him clearly from my window but I was sure he was the one.

I heard my room door fly open and I was forced to look away from Edozie who was walking into the house already.

"Can't you knock?" I knitted my brows.

"Why should I?"

"What if I was naked?"

"It's not like I haven't seen you naked before" Adaku shrugged.

"Whatever"

"Papa wants us downstairs now"

"What's up?"

"I don't know. Just come downstairs" She said and left my room. I left the room after her and made my way downstairs.

Midway down, I sighted Edozie and his hair was neatly cut. I was really
startled. What happened to his locks? I made my way downstairs and took a seat beside Adaku. Edozie was seated opposite mama. And Eyinna was seated on papa's laps.

"You two must be really surprised" Papa started as his gaze rested on mine and Adaku's. "Well, things has changed for this family. My business is going great and the car parked outside is mine. Also your brother Edozie has turned a new leaf. He's taking IJMBE classes and by God's grace he'll be in the university soon.

I was overjoyed. I couldn't contain my excitement as I was all smiles.

Papa continued. "Anyways, my business partner Mr Ade will be holding a party tonight. Its his wedding anniversary and he has invited our family. Make sure you rest but you have to be ready by six thirty"

"Uzo and Ada go with your mum. She will give you some dresses. You should pick the one you'll wear tonight"

"Okay sir" Adaku and I chorused. We went with mama to hers and papa's room. She handed each of us a traveling bag filled with clothes. We thanked her and headed to our respective rooms.

As soon as I got to my room, I threw the box to one corner and went to my bed. I picked up my phone, unlocked it. I saw a missed call from Damola and decided to call back.

She picked after the third ring. "Hey girl, what's up?"

"I'm good. You?"

"Living the life" I chuckled. "I've been waiting for you to come online. Where have you been?"

"Sorry, I was busy"

"It's okay. Just wanted to check on you"

"Thanks. My regards to everyone"

"Same" And with that, I ended the call.

I opened the WhatsApp app and sent a 'Hi' to Damola and she replied almost immediately.

Dammy💞: Babes! It took you forever.

Me: Yeah right 🙄

Dammy💞: Let's go to the group abeg. Agatha will crucify us if you start giving me gist without her.

Me: Okay.

I immediately went to the group. The group consisted of myself, Agatha and Damola. We created the group so that we could chat and gossip all we want.

Me: Agatha Osase Ihimire

Aggy💖: Christ! Uzo what is it?

Dammy💞: Yo babes!

Aggy💖: It's time for gist! Yay!

Me: Sorry I can't chat for long. I have to get ready.

Aggy💖: Get ready for what?

Me: A party. My dad's business partner is celebrating his wedding anniversary today and there's going to be a party. We were invited and I have to get ready.

Dammy💞: Mad ohh! Enjoyment dey for your side oh!

Me: Which kine? I don't even know the family.

Aggy💖: You better catch better fish oh. Fine fine boys will be there for sure.

Me: You're not okay.

Dammy💞: Agatha you no know sey she be Timi babe?

Aggy: Na true oh😂

Me: You guys are crazy. I'm going sha. I still have to decide on what to wear.

Aggy💖: Okay. Have fun girl

Dammy💞: Bring food for me oh! You better don't forget.

Me: Okay, Okay. Bye.

And with that I exited the WhatsApp and went straight to Instagram. I had a lot of notifications. I decided to go through them.

I had new followers and I was glad. I checked my profile and almost threw my phone across the room when I saw that I had reached 10k followers. I was so excited and I made to call Damola but I stopped before I could dial her number. If I call Dammy now, we will not end our conversation.

As I was about to turn off my mobile data, I got a new notification from Instagram and I clicked on it.

Pete_davis started following you.

I clicked on his profile and checked his recent posts. He just posted a photo minutes ago. The sight of the photo made my heart flip. Timi and Peter were clad I'm matching vests and sweatpants. Timi was typing on his phone not knowing a photo of him was taken. He looked so breathtaking.

A knock on the door interrupted my little reverie. "Come in" I mouthed and the door was pushed opened to reveal Adaku.

She walked towards me and sat beside me on my bed. "Do you know what time it is?" She asked me.

I checked my phone. "Five minutes after four" I shrugged. "Exactly and you've not picked an outfit"

"How—"

Papa walked into my room as the door was already opened. "There you are. I checked your room Adaku"

Her brows creased. "Is there any problem Papa?" She asked.

"No not at all" I noticed a package in his hands and watched as he pulled out the contents. My eyes widened in astonishment. My expression mirrored Adaku's.

Papa smiled at our reaction. "Here" he said handing each of the contents to us. I opened my mouth to say something but Papa beat me to it.

"iPhone X for Uzo and iPhone 11 for Adaku" he said as a smile graced his face. Adaku and I immediately hugged Papa. "Thank you so much" We said to him.

"It's not a big deal. You two have been doing well in school and this is my little way of encouraging you"

"Papa, can you hold on to this for a while" Adaku said to him and my eyes almost flew out of it's socket. What is she doing?

"You know, till I'm done with WAEC" Papa nodded and smiled. She returned his smile. "Of course" he replied and collected it from her hand. "I know you'll make this family proud" He patted her shoulder and she gave him a tight smile. Don't all art students pass? Art class is like the easiest.

"You two should get ready now" And with that said, Papa walked out the door closing it behind him.

"Why do you science students have to be so judgemental?"

"Huh?"

"Uzo, the fact that art class seems easy doesn't mean it is"

"How did you—"

"I'm your sister Uzo. I know a lot about you. I have lived with you sixteen years of my life. I know almost everything about you. Except your connection with Timi"

I snapped my head up at her. "I didn't bother you about it before because I thought you'll tell me. But since you don't want to tell me then I'll have to ask. And don't you dare lie to me. I knew you two were friends in junior
school. You, Uzodinma and Timi were close and after he left, you and Uzo separated. Now he's back and I noticed there's something up. I'm not in your class and hostel but when I see you two in social gatherings, I notice the awkward tension and I need you to spill the beans this very minute"

After listening to Adaku, I decided to tell her nothing but the truth. "It all started when I joined FGC in JSS2. Dinny was my only friend since I was new. We are literally namesakes so we just clicked. Timi was her friend which automatically make him my friend too. Dinny liked Timi but he didn't like her back. With time, Timi and I started liking each other and we hung out a lot. One day, Timi left the school and dropped a letter with Dinny. I read the letter and I misunderstood it. I thought he wrote it to her and not me. His words were 'I don't feel anything for your friend'. I was devastated and with time I forgot about it. But he decided to come back into my life. I told him to stay away from me that I hate him. When I found out that I misunderstood him, I wanted to fix things between us but I couldn't. He decided to respect my wishes and stay away" At that point, I broke down.

Adaku sat beside me on the floor. "It's okay sis. It's not your fault"

I cried into her shoulder. "Here's what you'll do for me" She started wiping my tears. "Forget about him this night. We're going to a nice party tonight and you have to make the most of it. Okay"

I nodded my head. "Good. Now let's look for something nice for you to wear. After trying out many outfits, we settled for a blue off-shoulder dress.

At six forty-five pm sharp. We were all in the car, heading for papa's supposed business partner Mr Ade's house. Dad, Edozie and Eyinna were draped in two piece tuxedo of different colors. Papa wore a black tux while Edozie wore an ash one an Eyinna wore a blue one.

And as expected, Mama, Adaku and I were robed in gowns. Mama wore a simple sundress. Adaku wore a pepper red dinner dress that stopped right above her knees.

I on the other hand, was dressed in the dress Adaku picked for me earlier. A blue three-quarter off shoulder dress that had a flowing fishtail behind. Adaku and I wore matching silver stiletto heels.

As soon as the car parked, my gaze was lifted to the beautiful mansion in front of me. It was quite dark and I couldn't see the building clearly. The very spacious compound was looking beautiful as decorations light were placed everywhere. As we walked behind Papa, I saw alot of cars parked in the compound.

A man, probably in his mid-thirties walked to us. He was dressed in a white packet shirt, black trousers and a black bow tie to complete his look. "Good evening sir, the party will be taking place at the garden. May I lead you there?"

"Oh no, carry on with your work, I know where the garden is located" the man bowed slightly and walked away.

I heard soft music as I walked into the beautifully decorated garden with my family. We saw different families sitting at designated tables all looking radiant. Papa and mama excused themselves and we had our seats. Edozie was lapping Eyinna who kept pointing at everything and anything.

My eyes scanned the brightly lit garden area. I saw a lot of couples. Old and young. They all looked happy and a smile graced my face. Someone waved at me from a distance and I waved back squinting and with time I realized it was Peter. What the hell is he doing here? I thought.

I saw a girl standing with a boy, pulling his curls and she kept laughing. I smiled to myself. They look so cute together. I thought. Her dark skin shined and I just kept staring at the couple. And my eyes widened in shock as my eyes met his. Timi was seated in all his curly glory. Clothed in a two piece blue tux. The girl touching his hair turned as she noticed he was staring at something else. Rather someone else.

As soon as she turned, I was met with another surprise. My eyes jammed with that of Ayomide who just rolled her eyes. And at that moment I wished for the ground to just open up and swallow me. I felt my heart tighten at the sight before me.

"Hey Uzo!" I turned to my side and was met with a smiling Peter. It now makes sense. "Hi" I responded giving him a plastic smile.

The conversation with Peter got better by the minute and I was cracked up. I didn't know he had such a wonderful sense of humor. That was because I have never had a real conversation with him. I smiled as Peter made funny jokes but I couldn't miss the intensity of the gaze sent my way. Papa walked over to where we were seated with a man about his age or younger.

"This are my daughters. Uzoamaka and Adaku" Papa said to a taller man and he smiled. He turned to Papa. "You have such beautiful daughters."
Papa turned to us. "This is my business partner. The one and only Mr Adewale Adenuga"

Adaku and I greeted him. "How come I've not met them before?"

"They are in school. Boarding school that's why you have only seen Edozie and Eyinna"

He nodded. "Meet my son. Timi!" He called out and Timi walked to where we were all standing. I suddenly felt claustrophobic. "Meet my son. Timilehin Adewale Adenuga. The apparent heir to Adewale Adenuga group of companies.

There was a lot to take in. "He schools at Federal government college"

"Really? That's where my daughters school too. Oh wow! You must know each other"

We nodded affirmative and his father smiled revealing his white set of dentition. "Timi, make them comfortable"

Timi nodded and his father walked away with Papa and they went to speak with another family.
