UZO'S POV

I took brisk strides making my way to Adaku's class. She sent a junior student to call me. Apparently she had a conversation with Papa when he called through our guardian earlier.

I hastened my steps so as to return to my class before night prep. I was almost at the SS3 block when I heard footsteps behind me. I ignored them and continued walking. Almost immediately, I bumped into someone. I looked up and my eyes landed on trouble itself.

Right in front of me stood Sean Adeboye. A sinister smile graced his homely face. I turned around only to be met with smirking faces of Chogu and other of his friends. In a nutshell, I was surrounded by Terry J and his friends. I was trapped.

My heart started racing instantly. Terry J advanced towards me taking slow strides. He laughed hysterically as he rounded me. "If it isn't the most wanted chick"

I swallowed hard looking down at my sandals like they were the most captivating thing in the world. "Look at me" he ordered lifting my chin up. I shrunk back in fear. "Are you scared? I thought you are a confident girl that is afraid of nothing and no one". His friends snickered.

"Speak up" he thundered and I rubbed my sweaty palms against my dress. "Oh yes, you can't speak. You've realized your mistake. But you're too late. I don't go back on words. I'll make sure you pay for every single thing you said to me that day"

"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry" I clamped my hands together.

"Sweetheart as I said earlier, it's too late for that. You'll never cross path with me ever again you fool"

That was it! I couldn't take it anymore. I had no care for what they could do to me but I certainly could not stand them ridicule me like that.
"Hey! Don't call me a fool" I bawled.

"How dare you speak to me in that manner. I'm going to kill you!" He raised his hands at me.I flinched and my eyes went shut.

One second...

Two seconds...

Three seconds...

I didn't feel the sting from the slap. I slowly opened my eyes and saw Sean's hand held mid air. I couldn't really tell who the person that held him back was because he was backing the source of light.

"How dare you raise your hand to a lady! Don't you have any shame?" My eyes widened at the sound of his voice. "Timi leave this place now! It's none of your business" Chogu thundered.

"I'm not leaving and there's nothing you can do about it" he replied and grabbed me by my wrist. I resisted the urge to pull away from his grip.
"Confirm! We will beat you and your girlfriend together" One of Sean's friend added.

I'm not his girlfriend. I wanted to scream out but I knew better than to do so.

"Timi you should stay out of this. I have scores to settle with her" Sean spoke up since Timi arrived.

"I will leave. But don't you think your friends should know something about you. I mean our families are close. Aren't they?" I noticed the pernicious smile playing on his ever plump pink lips.

Sean's eyes widened and he gulped. I was confused. What's does Timi know?

"Um... I'll let her go" he said in a profound tone. My eyes almost flew out of its socket. Just like that?
Timi smiled and dipped his hands in his pocket finally letting me go. "Good. Now you have to promise me that you will never disturb her again"

"Terry, what is all these? Let's treat their fuck up" One of his friends hissed.

Sean raised his hand to demonstrate 'stop'. "Don't do anything guys. Let's go"

"But guy, we can't let her go Scot free" Chogu added.

It took the grace of God to prevent me from rolling my eyes. "I said I'm not interested in getting back at her anymore. I'm done!" He said and walked away leaving his friends no choice but to follow him reluctantly. But not without giving me a glare.

I watched as they walked out of my sight and exhaled as relief washed me. A sigh from Timi got me pivoting.
He stood beside me features as calm as ever and his hands still buried in his pockets.

"Thank you" I muttered. "You really saved me today. I appreciate you"

His gaze finally met mine and he smiled. "It's really not a big deal. I'd do more than that to make sure you're safe."

I looked away. "Uzo look at me" he said gently and my gaze returned to him. "I know you still care so much. Why are you hurting yourself by keeping me away" his hands cupped my cheeks.

"I appreciate what you just did for me Timi but I do not want to talk about this."

"Stop this farce already. I know you have feelings for me. You always did"

"Yes. I did in the past. But now I've realized it's nothing but a silly crush and I'm over it. Timilehin I don't feel anything for you anymore. Is that so hard to understand? Please stay away from me!" I deadpanned and walked towards Adaku's class not waiting for his reaction.

We just concluded our chemistry exams and the term's exams. I could not contain my excitement. Paper 1,2&3 of Chemistry all in a day. I was more than exhausted and all I wanted was to lay in my bed and sleep. SS2 science students were the only ones in school uniform. Every other student had gone to the hostel to change. I dipped the stationeries I took to the laboratory in my lab coat pocket as I made my way to my hostel with few of my classmates. They were discussing something but I had zoned out of the conversation. I was in my own world.

The examinations were over and I was eager to go home. Kamsy and I had started talking though not as before but we do once in a while. Timi adhered to my instruction and had not approached me again. Everything was going just as planned.

"Uzo!" I turned back and saw Dammy and Aggy waving at me. I stopped and told the other girls that I was going to meet them. They rushed to me. "How was the exam" Agatha asked and I sighed. "They were quite easy but the questions were too much. Thank God sha"

"Sorry dear" Damola said and I smiled. "How were your papers?" I asked Damola and Agatha. They were both offering Government. "It was difficult oh! But with God's help we will come out with flying color"

"Amen" we chorused.

"Let me go to the hostel and change. I'll meet you guys later" I said, waved at them and jogged to meet the other guys.

As soon as I was done in the hostel, I headed out and went straight to the dining hall. We had dinner and returned back to our classes for night prep. But instead of the normal reading, students were roaming around the block. After all,we were done with our examinations so we were free to do anything during night prep.

Students were seen everywhere. Some chatting while some others were playing games. Some students even left their classes to another to meet their friends.

Damola, Agatha and I were seated with some other girls listening to Dorothy tell us about a movie she watched. The whole block was bubbling as even some students were doing contraband out in the open.

I heard noise outside and I whipped my head towards the window to catch a glimpse of what was happening but I couldn't see anything as everyone was struggling to see what was going on too.

"Everybody leave the class now! Soji and some other boys got into a fight with SS3 boys and they are coming to the block now!" Daniel Danjuma announced and everyone started getting their things to leave the class. We could already hear the noise from our 'opponents'. I grabbed my bag to leave the class. There were no teachers around. All the teachers were probably busy compiling our scores so not even one of them came for prep. Not like I was surprised or anything. It was always that way after exams.

I stopped by the door when I sighted Kamsy sleeping at a far end of the class. I handed my small handbag over to Damola and went over to wake him. "Kamsy wake up" I tapped him. "Get up and leave the block"

"Why?" He asked squinting from the intensity of the light. "I can't explain. Just leave now" I said and headed for the door.

Damola and Agatha were waiting for me outside the block. I was rushing to catch up with them and suddenly, the light went off. Noise was heard everywhere as everyone scrambled around to find their feet.

A few people collided with me in attempt to leave the block before they get caught by the SS3 students. I also ran forward but then I heard the SS3's. "SS2, Una don enter today"

I had already left the block trying to find a way to my hostel safely in the darkness. My plans were interrupted when a hand dragged me. I wanted to scream out but the hand covered my mouth. "Who is this"

"Stay quiet or else they are going to find us"

I kept quiet immediately and tried to stand upright when I felt excruciating pain in my leg. I had sprained my ankle when I was dragged.

I stood on one leg in silence and in a couple of moments the whole place was as silent as a graveyard.

"The path is clear... We can leave now"

He lead the way and I followed behind him limping slowly. He sighed, walked towards me and picked me up bridal style.

My hands were wrapped around his neck and I could feel his rock hard chest. He walked in silence the only noise the sound of our breath.

As soon as we got to the front of my hostel, he put me down gently.
"Thank you" I mumbled.
He nodded his head and dipped his hands into his pocket.

"Um...why are you still waiting?" I asked him arching a brow.

"I'm waiting for somebody to come get you"

I nodded. "Timi?"

He looked down at me. "Thank you very much. You saved me. Again" And I wrapped my hands around his torso leaning into him. I hugged him.
I was in that position for a while and when I pulled away I was surprised at myself for hugging him but even more surprised at Timi for not hugging me back. His hands were still in his pocket and his face held no emotion.

I face palmed myself. Yeah, I told him to stay away.

"Uzo! You're here!" Damola and Agatha walked towards us and pulled me into a hug. "Thank God you're okay. Thank you so much Timi for helping her here"

He smiled. "No biggie. Just be careful with her, she sprained her ankle" he said. "Okay...we will. Thanks a lot" Agatha replied and he jogged off.

My eyes trailed him till he was out of sight. A throaty cough made me turn my head and I was met with smirking faces of Damola and Agatha.
