UZO'S POV
I ran after Kamsy calling his name repeatedly but he didn't turn. He kept on walking. I stopped, panting as I got to where he was. He had already stopped walking.
"Kamsy...errr.....it's not what you think it is" I said looking everywhere but his face.
He sighed "I know what it is. I'm not blind Uzo"
"Kamsy...I promise he was the one that kissed me and he took me off guard. I had no idea he was going to do that. If I did I would've avoided it"
"I have eyes Uzo. I saw everything clearly. You kissed him back" he closed his eyes for a moment and open them almost immediately. "Why should it matter though? It's not like we're dating or anything" he shrugged.
"Kamsy...."
"Don't stress it" he cut in. He faced me and placed both hands on my shoulders. "You should have told me about him and I'd have just backed off. Leading me on wasn't a right choice. But it's fine now, I understand everything" he smiled though not reaching his eyes. "Stay happy"
He walked away as soon as he uttered those words. "But....."
I wiped a bead of tear than ran down my cheek. I composed myself and headed for the dining hall.

"Uzo just chill. I think it's a blessing in disguise anyways" Damola said. Damola,Agatha and I were in my corner sitting on my bed while I stared into space.
"Yes she's absolutely right. I mean we all know you feel nothing for Kamsy and you still have feelings for Timi even if you don't want to accept the fact" Agatha added.
I averted my gaze to her. "The only thing I feel for Timi is hatred"
"You may say that but your eyes speak otherwise" She sighed. "Uzo, we are your best friends. You should be open with us. Tell us the truth"
"I don't feel anything for Timilehin. Period."
"Alright alright. Just cheer up already. Boys are scum! Tell us about the kiss" Damola wiggled her brows at me and I groaned. Oh no!
Mrs Oladayo scribbled something on the board and everyone groaned as soon as she moved away from the board. Who still gives assignments when exams are in a few day's time?
Oh yeah...Mrs Oladayo.
Mrs Oladayo was our English teacher. She was very lazy but loved giving us so many assignment she didn't end up marking. Instead, she gave them to SS3 students to mark.
"Make sure you do your assignments and submit it to my office first thing on Monday morning. We had just finished our scheme for the term as our scheme was very bulky.
I looked up at the board and a scowl graced my fair face. What is this one now? 750 words essay. Which kine gbese be this. I frowned murmuring to my hearing alone. "Uzo what was that?" Mrs Oladayo asked.
"Nothing ma" I replied as I looked up at her.
"Good. Oya collect all the notes and take them to the staff room. I'll be there in a bit" She said in her fake accent she thought masked her thick Yoruba accent.
"Okay ma"
I was not surprised she called me to help her with the books. Unlike the other teachers, Mrs Oladayo picks whoever she wants to do the job of the class captain when she's in class. My classmates arranged their books together on my desk and I picked them all and headed straight for English department.
I heard hurried footsteps behind me as I headed for the staff room but I just ignored them and hastened my steps. "Uzo" his voice called as soon as the footsteps got closer. I rolled my eyes and ignored him.
He kept calling on me but I didn't respond neither did I acknowledge him. I went to submit the notes and on my way back he griped my wrist and dragged me behind the chemistry laboratory block. "Why don't you just leave me alone Timi"
TIMI'S POV
My mind was still in disarray. I kept thinking of the possible reasons why Uzo didn't want me around her. Peter and Dee were seated beside me during dinner. My lips ran over my swollen lips and my mind flashes back to when I kissed Uzo.
I turned to Dee. "What's up with you and Uzo?" I asked her. How could I be so oblivious to everything. They were pretty close before I left and all of a sudden they don't talk anymore. I was busy trying to get Uzo back that I didn't realize the solution was nearby.
"I don't know what her deal is" she shrugged. "You two were friends. What happened?"
"I realized she wasn't worth it and it's high time you do too"
"What are you talking about" I asked with furrowed brows.
"Well we lost the bond you shared when you left"
When I left? There's something I'm yet to understand. What about my message. Wait!?¿? The letter!!!
"Did she read the letter?"
"Yes she did"
"Then why is she behaving this way"
"She's jealous" Dee stated like it was the obvious. Peter just observed us and didn't say anything. He did that whenever we were with her. He said and I quote 'I don't want anything to do with her. I don't like her guts and I'm not ready to do anything terrible'
"Why would she be" I asked the confusion frustrating me.
"Of me. She's jealous of me. She had always been since you dropped the letter"
"I don't understand what you're trying to say. Please just hit the nail on the head" I groaned out in frustration.
"What I'm trying to say is that she was jealous and angry when she realized you have feeling for me and not her. She read the letter you wrote me. Why care anyways when..."
"...Wrote you a letter? I didn't write you a letter. The letter I gave you was meant for Uzo. I gave you to hand it over to her on my behalf because I couldn't"
"What? The letter wasn't for me...."
Peter snickered but I ignored him. I ran my hands into my hair in frustration tugging at it violently.
What have you done Dee.

English class was over and the next period was break and I decided it was high time I spoke with Uzo. Mrs Oladayo our English teacher had told Uzo to take the notes to her desk and I made my way to follow her.
I called out to her severally but she ignored me. I pulled her behind the chemistry laboratory as soon as I sighted her walking towards were I was standing. She had submitted the notebooks.
"Why don't you just leave me alone Timi"
"We really need to talk"
"I don't want to talk to you. Why don't know just get that?"
"You have to listen this time Uzo. It's about the letter I wrote the day I left"
"I don't want to hear it" she looked away from me and I could see her fighting back the tears that threatened to wet her cheeks.
"Uzo..."
"Timi shut it....I hate you. Stay away from me I don't want you anywhere around me. You disgust me. Even if..."
"Will you just listen to me for once in your life Uzo. That letter was meant for you and not for her"
Her eyes widened and I narrated the whole story to her.
"If it was meant for me then why didn't you indicate my name there? And why didn't you give it to me and why to her?"
"I didn't write your name because I didn't want you to get in trouble and I couldn't give you myself because my flight was already booked for an hour's time and my dad was already there to pick me up"
"Wow" she breathed out.
"Do you see? This is not my fault" I rub my face with my hands.
"Just wow. You're such a pathetic liar Timi. If you thought I would buy that fake tale of yours then you're wrong. Stay away from me Timilehin Jason Adenuga. Far away" she said and walked away.
Those words tore my heart apart. And once again my hair was punished for crimes it did not commit as my hands were tugging at them violently.
