05 - Good Morning

Clang! Tong! Cling!

Who the hell is making so much noise in the morning? I thought, half awake, half dreaming.

I was just about to continue my 'uninterrupted' sleep when a smell filled the room. It wasn't just any smell, a really really good one! It was the smell of food. I couldn't resist so I forcefully opened my eyes and was immediately blinded by the light from the window. I covered my eyes with my hands and squinted as I got used to the piercing pain.

I looked at the clock. 8:40 AM.

Wow! That's early! I thought.

I got up from my bed and stretched like I have never done before. As I walked to the kitchen, the aroma grew and grew. It was so tempting!

I peered into the kitchen and saw that one person, my room mate, Thomas Sangster. He was searching the cupboards above the stove for  something. I cleared my throat to get his attention. He looked at me and smiled.

"Hey! Good morning. You're awake early!" Thomas greeted as he closed the cupboard door. He was still wearing his pajamas. I smiled, "Good morning Thomas! I don't mean to be rude but... why are you up so early?" I asked. "I woke up at around 7:50 AM and then couldn't sleep," Thomas answered. "Oh, are you home sick? Missing family? Missing your girlfriend, huh?" I questioned. There was an uncomfortable 5 second pause between us. Thomas ran a hand through his hair and scratched the back of his head.

"Umm... well we... broke up before I came here to film. She just... moved on, that's all," Thomas replied sadly.

I mentally slapped myself.

Well done Ellie! Amazing thing you've done! Brought his ex girlfriend up! Good job. You deserve an award! I thought.

"Oh... I am so sorry! I didn't know. I was just wond..." I said. "No, it's fine! You wouldn't have known..." Thomas interrupted. We were silent for a few seconds as Thomas continued to cook something.

"Anyways, what are you doing early in the morning?" I asked as I stood right next to Thomas at the stove. "I am cooking breakfast for the two of us!" Thomas answered. "What's in the menu, chef?" I questioned.

"Well madam, today there is a mixture of good things. There are sausages, omelete de fromage (cheese omelete) and orange juice de carton. And a little bread. All for the lovely madam to eat!" Thomas explained in a french accent. I laughed at his cuteness. "That menu is perfect! I never knew you could speak French Thomas!" I said between laughs. "I am talented! My french is rusty but, I wouldn't mind learning some!" Thomas said. "Well 'chef', anything I could help with?" I asked. "No! No! This is a job for a chef! Madam will not help me!" He commanded as he stroked his invisible mustache. "Fine. Well in that case, I'm going for a shower. I expect everything to be ready when I finish!" I ordered. "Madam will not be disappointed!" Thomas smiled and winked at me.

I exited the kitchen and walked to the bathroom. I was just about to switch on the lights of the bathroom when...

"DAMN IT! OW! JESUS CHRIST!" Thomas yelled. Hearing that I ran back to the kitchen. "What happened Thomas?! Did you get hurt?" I asked with worry. "Yeah I just, burnt my hand because of the pan! OW!" Thomas explained. I looked at him with pity. My eyes wandered to the ground, which was covered with bits and crumbs of the bread Thomas was toasting on the stove. "Oh... that. Umm, it fell when I burnt my hand..." Thomas said. I looked at him and felt sad. I just wanted to give him a tight hug but well...

"No worries! I'll clear that up. What I'm worried about is that hand of yours!" I told. My eyes turned to his hand and I reached to get it. Thomas hesitated and kept his hand to himself. "I don't bite Thomas! I want to help you," I comforted. He eventually gave me his hand and I held it.

It was sweaty and kind of pink, but at the same time soft and warm. It felt nice. I searched his  right hand for the burn and found a moderate sized one on the side where his pinkie is, the chubby part. It was red and looked really painful.

"Does it hurt a lot?" I asked. "Yeah it does. A lot! It stings and burns," Thomas said in pain. I looked at the wound, trying to come up with a cure. I immediately thought of the perfect thing.

I walked to the kitchen sink and dragged Thomas with me. I turned the tap on and let cold water run. I rinsed his hand under the cool water. "Just keep your hand like this and I will be back In a sec!" I instructed.

I ran to the bathroom and scavenged the area for the cure. I found it and ran back to the kitchen.

"Toothpaste?!" Thomas said confused. "Yes! The perfect remedy for burns!" I said cheerfully as I switched the tap off. I opened the tube and squeezed some toothpaste onto the burn. I rubbed it over the toothpaste. "Better?" I asked. "Very! Thank you doctor. How did you know that toothpaste would be good?" Thomas questioned. "Well chef... My mom never worked and she spent her time taking care of me and my siblings. She taught us all sorts of things and told us these little things that can help us anytime. Helpful right?" I explained. "Yeah! Maybe you could tell me some things that could help in the future," Thomas said. I looked up at him smiling and our eyes met. He had a smirk on his face making him look mischievous. I gazed into his dark brown orbs and wanted the moment to last.

He was looking at me the whole time! I thought.

I looked back to his hand, feeling my face getting a bit hot. "Umm... sure! I can tell you my secrets to living!" I said with a laugh. We were silent for a few moments.

"Well, your burn is taken care of! Now you go and set the table while I clean up and finish toasting the bread," I instructed. "No! I will not let madam cook! Only the chef will cook! Madam should rest," Thomas commanded in a french accent. We quarrelled for a while but in the end I won. Thomas went and set the table while I cleaned the mess of crumbs on the floor and toasted some bread slices.

We had a great breakfast! The food was delicious and Thomas and I talked and got to know each other a little more.

"So, you enjoyed the meal? I hope you liked it!" Thomas asked. "Of course I liked it! It was perfect. I mean, my bread was the best part!" I joked. "Yeah... whatever you want to believe," Thomas said.

We cleared up the table and I started to wash up all the dishes. "What are you doing? No, I will not let you! You go take your shower which got interrupted because of me," Thomas said. I reasoned with him that his hand was burnt and still healing and that it will only take 5 minutes, but he didn't listen. In the end I went for my shower.

I finished my hot and soothing shower and wore a white bath robe, provided by the hotel. I walked to the main hall and saw Thomas sitting on the sofa, doing something on his phone.

"You didn't take a long time at all!" Thomas said, the sarcasm was clear. I just smiled at him. "So, what are you doing?" I asked as I dried my hair with a towel. "Oh just chatting with some friends and my sister Ava. She's just asking how everything is going. She's asking about you. What should I tell her?," Thomas narrated. "Tell her I am awesome and I am having the time of life, even though it's just the second day!" I told.

"What time do you think we should meet everyone and go to the set?" I questioned. Thomas looked at the clock. It was 9:55 AM. He continued to stare at it till he answered. "Umm... maybe by 10:15. Later we would have to wake up early but for today I think that time is fine." I nodded in return.

"Now I'm going for a shower and won't take as long as you did at least! I think you should get ready so that we can leave ASAP!" Thomas suggested. With that he walked out of the room and headed to the bathroom. I, on the other hand, went to my suitcase and took out my clothes and things.

I wore a black sleeve-less shirt and on top of that, I wore a dark blue denim jacket, also sleeveless and I left the buttons open. I wore blue jeans and my converse shoes. I left my wavy hair down. I put on some blush and mascara.

I usually don't put make up. If I ever do it would be on the very very special occasions, like premiers, important dinners and stuff. As an everyday thing, I just put some cream on my face, some blush and mascara. Sometimes I may put eyeliner, if I'm not lazy! I don't see the point of make up. You should let your natural self show!

I got ready and was packing my purse with all the necessaties girls need. I heard the bathroom door close and footsteps coming towards the room. "You ready?" Thomas asked as he dried his hair with a towel. He was wearing a blue shirt and a grey sweater on top of that. He had black jeans on and sneakers, which looked kind of like mine.

(A/N he's wearing the same thing in the media!)

"Yeah I am. Do you want to leave now?" I asked as I zipped up my purse. "We can go now, if you want to. I think everyone will meet us downstairs," Thomas answered and walked to bathroom to keep the towel back. I kept my phone in my pocket and walked to the main door. Thomas followed and I opened the door. We both walked out and closed the door behind us.

"You have the key card, right?" I questioned, a little worried. "Of course I have it!" Thomas replied as he waved the card in my face.

We both started walking to the hotel elevator.
