Picture this.
Beatrice and Will start hanging out more and more after the snow ball. Since the kiss they shared, they've been closer than ever.
Sometimes they would play games at the arcade. Sometimes they would hang out at their houses... alone.
No! Not like that!
Well... a little like that.
They just... made out a couple times.
Okay, it was a lot of times.
No biggie!
But they also expanded their art abilities together. They tried different ways of sketching based off the other. They were acting more than friends and Bea decided to ask Will the big question.
She was the one to ask him to be her boyfriend for a couple reasons...
1. He was clueless and thought that they were already dating even though they didn't define the relationship.
And...
2. Women empowerment, duh! Especially for living in the 80s.
Anyways... They've been dating since January 6th, 1985. And today is the twenty-fifth of June. Summer had just begun only a few days before.
They hung out almost all the time. But, unlike Mike and El, they made time for both their hangouts and group hangouts. Spending time together was great, but they're still young and want to be out in the world! See new things! They can't be cramped up in the others room.
They graduated from middle school about a week ago. All their parents cried about their babies getting old and soon entering the real world as if the Upside Down wasn't real enough. (It's not like they know anyway).
Well, the kids are going into high school next year! But, because the Holland's moved after graduation, Beatrice is currently trying to convince her parents to let her stay in Hawkins for the summer with her friends.
More specifically; her mother. She's the hardest to convince for anything. For her father; it's the simple puppy dog eyes and he's trapped. But, Martha Holland doesn't go down without a fight.
"But, mom! Pleeeeeeaaaaaassssse!" She whines, like she has for the past hour and a half. "Max's mom and step-father already agreed to it. I'd get to spend time with my friends before the school year. And, I would check in every night." The strawberry blonde lists off, counting her fingers.
"No. I don't want you near the town that killed your sister." Marsha huffs, shaking her head as she continues with the laundry. "And... I don't want to be a grandmother."
"Oh, my GOD. Mom! No! I'm only thirteen! Will and I— We never— Gross!" Bea sputters in disgust. Changing the subject, she continues, "and... the lab is gone. Nancy, Jonathan and that Murray guy made sure of it."
Her mom placed a green shirt in the laundry basket before turning to her. Martha begins to tear up. Taking note of her glossy eyes, Beatrice walks up to her and places her hands in hers.
"It's safe, mom. I promise."
What's worse?
Making a promise you won't be able to keep...
Or...
Making a promise you don't even believe, yourself?

It took a lot of convincing, but it worked!
Beatrice Holland is currently living with Max Mayfield for the summer of '85.
The reason why is not just so she can be with her friends. It's also because whenever Bea was at the Mayfield/Hargrove house during the school year, Neil was not a douchebag. When she came over after school, Max's step-dad was either respectful or just not there.
Even though Billy is a big jerk most of the time, Max cares for her sorta older brother. So, with Bea here all the time, Neil must be on his best behavior, and Billy won't be abused by his father. Hearing the news made Bea shed a tear for the teen. Even if he tried to run her and her friends over at the beginning of the school year.
They're sharing a room, of course. But, now Bea knows how Max feels whenever Billy brings a girl home. It's disgusting. Like, do they not know how to be quiet? How is everyone okay with the sounds? The shaky wall? The squeaky-as-hell bed? The amount of times Bea had to cover her ears with her pillows couldn't even be counted on both hands.
Anywho... moving onto, literally, any other topic.
Bex (their friendship name) was woken up to the sound of Billy's alarm clock blaring from his room. How thin are these walls? Actually, don't answer that. The girls already know the answer.
"It's too early for this!" Max groans as she rolls around to try and turn her alarm clock off. Not knowing that it's not hers, she ends up smacking Bea in the face.
"Ow." Bea grumbles, Max mumbles out an apology.
"Girls!" Max's mom yells from the door, "I know it's summer but you really shouldn't be sleeping until noon every day." The girls groan in response.
"Anyways," Susan sighs, "breakfast is ready. I made waffles and pancakes!"
And with that, the girls quickly got dressed, throwing clothes around the room, before sprinting to the kitchen. They ignored Billy's stare as they fell onto the seats at the table and dug in, drowning their food in maple syrup.
As Billy was walking out the door to go to work he muttered, "Pigs," under his breath.

Later on in the day, the party is supposed to meet at the new mall in Hawkins to watch a movie. Susan had dropped the girls off and they were met with their boyfriends.
Beatrice smiled at the boys before hugging Will in greeting. It just sounds so good to call someone your boyfriend, y'know? Like, to say that this person is your person?
I could only assume.
Anyways, it was just these four waiting for the rest of the group. Dustin isn't coming because he went to a summer camp called 'Camp Know Where'. Pretty clever name if you ask me.
Eleven isn't coming because it's not safe for her to be out and about yet. And Mike is late because he's probably sucking face with Eleven. Like they always do.
Don't get Beatrice wrong, she's happy that all her friends are happy and with people. But, you should always make time for your friends.
Like, for example, Beatrice has made multiple plans with El to hang out with her alone because Eleven still isn't fond of Max. But, every time she is about to leave the house, she gets a call from El canceling, just to hangout with Mike. It's infuriating. She wants to spend time with her friend, but she's always with Mike.
"Where is he?" Lucas asks, checking his watch for the five-hundredth time.
Just after Lucas' question, Mike pulled up with his bike and the party trudged over to him. "You're late."
"Sorry." Mike's insincere apology was obvious to the group.
"Again." Lucas drops his shoulders. It's true. Mike's always the last one to any hangouts.
"We're gonna miss the opening," Will complains with his hand in Bea's.
"Yeah, if you guys keep whining about it. Let's go!" Mike locks up his bike and they start race-walking to the ice cream shop in the mall.
Lucas mimics him and Mike begs for everyone's sanity, "Just please stop talking, dude."
"Let me guess. You were busy," Bea asks as she smacks her lips together, which makes Will and everyone laugh except Mike.
"Oh, yeah, real mature, Beatrice." He rolls his eyes.
"Wow, full name? Okay, Micheal." She mutters.
Lucas then says his impersonation of what he'd imagine Mike would say to Eleven when they make out. It's sounds pretty accurate to the group.
"Lucas, stop," Max tells him. She thinks that it's cute for Mike and El. But, you know what else is cute? Babies. And they're too young to have babies. Therefore, Mileven must slow their roll!
"Will and Bea think it's funny."
"That's because it is." Will laughs while Beatrice nods her head in agreement.
They turn the corner on the second story of the mall. "Yeah, so funny that I want to spend romantic time with my girlfriend."
"I'm spending romantic time with my girlfriend." Lucas puts an arm around Max.
"And I'm spending romantic time with my boyfriend." Bea holds up her and Will's conjoined hands.
They continue walking in the maze of the mall. Bumping into people. Apologizing if they accidentally push someone. Walking down the crowded escalators. (Which would be so much easier if they were allowed to just slide down it). And of course, Lucas and his little sister Erica being really mature by arguing and blowing raspberries at each other.
When they reach their destination — Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream Parlor — Bea is automatically greeted with a hug from Robin, a worker at the shop. Robin and Beatrice became friends one day when the strawberry blonde came by to annoy her friend, Steve, at work.
They've talked ever since, and when Bea said she was going into high school, Robin got all excited because they'll be in school together since Robin is going into the twelfth grade. But, she was sad to know that Beatrice actually moved, so they will only have the summer to spend together.
Right now, Mike rang the call bell on the counter repeatedly for Steve to let them through. He was in the back, doing God knows what.
"Hey, dingus, your children are here," Robin calls Steve.
"Nice word choice." Bea compliments Robin's use of 'dingus'. It's one of her favorite insults.
Steve opens the back window with a sigh, "Again? Seriously?"
Bea shrugs sheepishly and Mike rings the bell one more time just to annoy the sailor man-child.
Steve brought the kids through the back doors. This is how they've been sneaking into every movie. "Come on, come on."
"I swear, if anybody hears about this—"
"We're dead!" They finish his threat with a roll of their eyes. It's no use. He's been saying that since the beginning of summer.
Steve noticed that Beatrice stayed behind. He turned to her in confusion. "Lose the hat. You really do look like a dingus." She smiles playfully and pats his shoulder before running to catch up with her friends.
Steve takes off the hat and mutters, "Stupid store policy," as he walks back into work.
When Bea reaches the theater, all her friends are in their seats and Will is saving one right next to him for her. They smile at each other as they grab snacks out of their bags and pass them onto each other.
Bea and Will hold hands as the movie starts — the first scene opening up in a white room. But it abruptly stops, due to what one can assume to be a power outage. The crowd clamors and throws popcorn at the screen as if that'll fix it.
In what felt like forever, the power finally turns back on and the movie starts to play again. Everyone claps and cheers as they can finally watch Day of The Dead.
Bea feels Will's arm get goosebumps beside her, so she looks at him with a frown. "Cold?"
"Huh?" His head snaps to her like he was in a trance and she was the one who got him out of it.
"I was wondering if you were cold. Movie theaters usually make me chilly, so I—"
"Bring extra sweaters for everybody." Will finishes her sentence with a fond smile. "I know, you do it all the time. And, I'm okay. Let's just watch the movie."
Beatrice nods her head and looks back at the screen. She loves scary movies. She loves the thrill of the background music and the jump scares.
She used to want to live in a horror movie.
Oh, Bea, be careful of what you wish for.
