day 3: free day (klapollo!!!!!!!!!! klavier is so silly <3)
There was a room, in the Prosecutor's Office. It had a large golden window that faced west, so the owner got to see beautiful sunsets every day. The window was framed by lush red velvet curtains, the dark shade complementing the rich blue paint of the walls. All the desks and shelves in the room were an expensive mahogany oak with gold trims, creating a very lush atmosphere when combined with the rare tropical plants placed in pots around the room.
It had been out of use for a few years, as the Prosecutor's Office was mildly understaffed. No one knew who watered the plants (though rumor had it that it was Detective Gumshoe, on Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth's orders) so the room could usually be relied on to be as empty as a graveyard at midnight.
Apollo Justice wasn't paying attention to any of these nice characteristics, however, as he was busy taking advantage of the room's emptiness and out-of-the-way location to press his boyfriend against a desk.
Klavier was in the middle of running his hand up Apollo's thigh when they heard a noise from the door. Apollo turned his head to look at the door, much to Klavier's dismay (as he let out a small whine). The door was swinging open, and Klavier sat up to look as well.
The door revealed their respective bosses making out against the doorframe. Mr. Wright's hand was on Mr. Edgeworth's ass even as he was being pushed into the frame, and Klavier let out a strangled sound before Apollo grabbed his hand and pulled him behind the desk.
"Was zum Teufel!" Klavier whisper-exclaimed and he crouched next to Apollo. "How do we get out of here without our bosses seeing us?"
"I don't fucking know, Klav!" Apollo whispered back. "God, I hope they don't start undressing in the office while we're in it."
Klavier coughed in shock and realization, but Apollo quickly shoved a hand over his mouth to muffle the sound. "Mien Gott, I think they're doing this during a court recess!"
Apollo racked his brain for trial schedules and said, "Fuck, I think you're right! We have to try and sneak out before they notice us. If they have enough time to do this, I do not want to be here if things get more..."
"Involved?" Klavier suggested, smirk playing at his lips. Apollo groaned silently and peeked over the desk to see their bosses against another desk, and somehow they'd gotten even less PG during the few minutes of his and Klavier's conversation. Klavier peeked out next to him and mouthed, We could probably bang cymbals together and those two wouldn't notice, as into each other as they are.
Apollo nodded and pulled Klavier behind him, sneaking around the opposite edge of the room from the one where their bosses were. They were almost at the door when Klavier kicked one of the potted plants and yelled, "Scheiße!"
Mr. Edgeworth's head snapped toward them and Apollo froze, Klavier busy hopping around and clutching his foot. Apollo grabbed his hand to stop him from knocking something expensive over as Mr. Wright lazily inclined his head their way.
Mr. Edgeworth's face was rapidly turning red. He opened his mouth to say something, presumably to reprimand them, but Apollo looked at Klavier and hissed, "Run."
Klavier followed the command with remarkable speed despite his dramatics, and they both ran out of the door and full-out sprinted down the hallway outside the door. They didn't stop running until they were standing outside the door to the imposing building, heaving heavily.
"Well that was certainly an... adventure, schatzi," Klavier said breathlessly. Apollo nodded in response and said, "Yeah. Do you think that they think we're together?"
"Probably." Klavier replied offhandedly, which made Apollo cringe.
"Great. Fun. Yippee. #Blessed!" Apollo groaned, earning a chuckle from Klavier.
"I suppose, liebling, that I should go home for the day. My work is finished, after all. I just stayed to enjoy some... alone time with you."
Apollo felt himself flush, and muttered, "Yeah, me too. My workday is over anyway, so to hell with the paperwork I didn't finish. I'd rather do extra work tomorrow than face Mr. Wright again after that anyway."
Klavier hummed before responding. "Do you want a ride home?"
"As long as it's not on your 'hog,' then sure." Apollo replied, falling into step with Klavier as they headed toward the parking lot.
"Worry not, Herr Forehead, for I know you love any opportunity to clutch onto my midsection!"

Do NOT tell Athena, for the fräulein will freak out and Mr. Wright will know that it was you who told her.
I plan on not telling any of my coworkers as well, as I do not wish to relive that traumatic experience.

Apollo was right, Klavier thought distantly as he stared down at the piece of paper lying on his desk. It was a summons from Mr. Edgeworth for a meeting "whenever he was free," meaning right the fuck now or Edgeworth was going to halve his play.
He walked the short distance from his office to Edgeworth's, looking to any outsider like he didn't have a care in the world even as his mind whirled with scenarios for what awaited him in the office. He waved to Gumshoe as he stood in front of the door, and Gumshoe cheerfully waved back before Klavier pushed open the office doors to greet his doom.
Mr. Edgeworth stood facing the window, hands clasped behind his back. Klavier hovered there awkwardly before a few minutes before asking, "Herr Edgeworth, sir? Is there something you wished to speak to me about?"
Mr. Edgeworth startled and turned to face Klavier, face slightly red. "Please, take a seat," he said, gesturing to the chair in front of his desk as he sat in the one behind it. Klavier sat across from him nervously, unsure what to expect from the conversation.
"I, er, understand that you saw me and Wright in the office yesterday." Klavier wondered if it was possible to melt into his seat. He really, really wished it was. Gott, let me disappear.
"Ja, Herr Edgeworth." Klavier decided that short and sweet was the best way to get out of this situation as quickly as possible. Mr. Edgeworth gave a sharp nod and continued.
"I apologize for... what you saw." Klavier was the same color as Mr. Edgeworth's suit, and Mr. Edgeworth was rapidly heading that direction himself.
"I understand, Herr Edgeworth. I apologize for being there."
Mr. Edgeworth raised a brow, and Klavier thought, Scheiße, Scheiße, Scheiße. "You... why would you have to apologize, Gavin? Why were you there?"
Klavier regretted all of his life choices. He should have dropped out of school, become some sort of hermit, and never talked to anyone ever again. "I was there with Justice, Herr."
Mr. Edgeworth, in a very un-Edgeworth manner, abruptly snorted. He seemed as surprised by this behavior as Klavier was. He had instinctively brought a hand up to cover his mouth, and as he lowered it, shoulders shaking slightly with silent laughter, there was a small smile on his face.
"I see. Well then, Gavin," he picked up a stack of papers on his desk and realigned them. Klavier knew he knew, and he knew that Klavier knew he knew, but he blessedly didn't touch on the subject. "you may leave. I do hope you will be more... discreet in the future."
"Yes, sir." Klavier was impressed that he managed to choke out even those two syllables, as his vocal chords had shriveled and died about ten seconds ago. Mr. Edgeworth was still grinning as he slunk out of the office and closed the door.
He wrapped his hands behind his neck and groaned, leaning back slightly. "You okay, pal?" called Gumshoe from his desk near the entrance to their office section.
"Nein," Klavier stated plainly. "I have the sudden and aggressive urge to disappear to Germany for a year."
"Mr. Edgeworth did that once." Gumshoe mused. "It ended extremely badly for him, but I guess I can't tell you what to do."
"He what?" Klavier turned, eyes wide. "I need details, schnell." He ran over to Gumshoe's desk, squatting down and resting his elbows on the desk. He put his hands under his chin and batted his eyes, causing Gumshoe to laugh.
"Alright, pal, I'll tell you. Just... don't let Mr. Edgeworth know I told you. He'd take even more of my pay." Klavier nodded.
"So you know how he always talks about how Mr. Wright changed his entire system of morality? He's fine with that now, but at the time he was struggling. He'd also been accused and acquitted of two murders - both by Mr. Wright."
Klavier raised his eyebrows. He'd known that Mr. Wright's and Mr. Edgeworth's relationship had a lot of depth to it, but he hadn't known the specifics.
"He, uh, left this note that said..." Gumshoe said, pausing as if he wasn't sure if he should continue, before sighing. "'Miles Edgeworth chooses death.'"
Klavier whistled, then grimaced. "Herr Edgeworth left a fake suicide note?"
Gumshoe tilted his head to the side and said, "Yes and no. He wanted it to be a metaphor, the 'death of his old ideals,' to quote him, but everyone took it otherwise. Even I thought..." Gumshoe looked to the side. "It doesn't matter. He and Mr. Wright got over it, and now they're married."
"Hm." Klavier said, considering the implications of all this. He stood up, and said, "Congratulations on disabusing me of my notion of fleeing America, Detective."
He turned and meandered back to his desk, not wanting to do his work for the day (which happened to be all paperwork - he wasn't assigned to a case right now).
Eventually, he was done, and hightailed it over to the WAA. He was trying to avoid Herr Edgeworth, and it luckily worked.
He jumped on his 'hog,' chucking as he thought of Apollo's reaction every time he called it that. He drove over to the WAA - he almost got hit multiple times, but that's okay - and parked outside, jumping off his hog and walking inside.
He ended up in the "living room" of the agency, seeing Trucy bouncing a ball against a wall and Athena slumped on the couch, looking at her phone. They both looked up when he entered, noticing the sound of the bell their boss had hung above the door.
"Hi Klavier!" Trucy piped up, bounding over to him. "What's the big occasion?"
He laughed and ruffled her hair, causing her to pout-glare at him. "Just here to pick up Herr Forehead, kurz."
"Do I want to know what that means?" she asked, cocking her head.
"He called you short, Truce." Mr. Wright said, walking in. Klavier glanced away, not quite wanting to meet his eyes after yesterday.
"Er, g-good evening, Herr Wright." he stuttered awkwardly.
"Hello, Klavier. Oh, don't worry about yesterday, by the way. We're cool." Mr. Wright said, waving his hand. He checked something on his phone, then said, "Ah shit, an update from our client. be right back, I need to investigate. Don't die while I'm gone."
Klavier stood silently - Mein Gott, I think that interaction gave me whiplash - as Mr. Wright brushed past him and Athena offendedly glared at him. Once he was gone, she turned to Klavier and said, "Okay, spill. What happened yesterday?"
"Yeah! Tell us! Tell us! Tell us!" Trucy began chanting, and Athena quickly followed suit. Klavier heaved a long-suffering sigh and said, "Fine, fine."
Sorry, Apollo, he added mentally.
He gave them a quick rundown of the 'incident' - he was unfortunately unable to leave out how he got in there, leading to another mental apology - and watched as their faces changed from interest to embarrassment to outright disgust.
"You're telling me you almost saw my dads doing adult stuff? Ew!" Trucy exclaimed, with Athena looking like she'd never agreed with anything more in her life.
"Ja, they almost did taxes in front of us!" Klavier deadpanned, adding jazz hands on the emphasis. Trucy stuck out her tongue at him, and he returned a shit-eating grin.
Their stare-off was interrupted by Apollo coming in and grabbing his coat off the door hanger. He came over and gave Klavier a kiss on the cheek (on his tiptoes, of course) and whispered rather aggressively into his ear, "I heard your conversation. You are meeting Jesus when we get home."
Klavier nodded, eyes flicking left and right, then turned to the girls and gave them a dazzling smile. "Well, fräuleins, we must be off. Follow Herr Wright's instructions and do not die, please. He would be put out."
Apollo smacked him on the top of his head, and grabbed his arm before dragging him out of the door. Klavier offered a few token protests before allowing himself to be dragged by his boyfriend.
"Schatzi, you didn't actually mean that threat earlier, correct?"
"We'll see. Depends on what you brought to drive us home."
"Ah, about that..."
