LAGUARDIA AIRPORT
queens, new york

sunday
11am
as nick and i walked through the airport, headed to check my bag, he spoke up. "i feel like i'm always at this airport nowadays."
i chuckled a little bit at nick's comment. in all honesty, he definitely was at this airport quite often. he traveled quite a bit to see me.
"yeah, you are." i said as we made our way to the check-in counter. "it's become your home away from home at this point."
nick smirked a little. "i wouldn't say my home away from home," he said as he placed a hand on his suitcase as we came to a stop at the check-in counter. "i'd say you're my home away from home." he said, almost nonchalantly.
i felt my cheeks start to heat up at his comment. i knew he was only saying that to mess with me, yet it still made my stomach feel a little fuzzy. i tried to hold back a smile, instead i laughed softly. "oh yeah? i'm your home away from home?"
nick nodded, his smirk widening a bit as he saw the slight look on my face at his comment. it was clearly a success at getting under my skin. he loved to tease me. "yeah, you are." he said with a firm nod.
i rolled my eyes, and i began to check in my bag. "oh please." i said as i rolled my eyes once again. he had a cocky smirk on his face, he clearly thought he had a successful victory at being annoying. "you say that to all your girlfriends." i said jokingly.
he let out a scoff of laughter at my response. "yeah, it's my line. i say it to all the girls i've dated, of course." he teased.
a small scoff left my mouth in a similar tone as nick's. "oh god, don't be so cocky." i told him as i rolled my eyes once more. i could just tell today was going to be filled with playful jabs from him.
as i got my bags checked in, nick watched me with a smirk and a chuckle. "really two bags?" he piped up, his voice had some tease in it.
i rolled my eyes but i knew the comment was coming. "don't start." i said to him half-jokingly.
"i'm just wondering why you need two bags for a week in mexico." he said with a smirk.
i shrugged. "you know me, i always overpack. i have a lot to bring, leave me alone." i joked, i knew he was only teasing me again.
nick chuckled softly at my response, though his smirk hadn't faded. "yeah, yeah, i know you overpack. but two bags?" he asked jokingly, knowing full well that i did, in fact, overpack.
it was quite a common occurrence for me to overpack. i shrugged once again. "yes, two bags. i have clothes, shoes, accessories, makeup, skincare product, hair products, etcetera...i'm a girl. we're always going to overpack." i replied with a laugh.
i could still see the smirk on nick's face, though at this point he seemed amused. "oh i know that not all girls overpack. just you...it's like you think you're going away for a month and not a week." he said jokingly, though there was some truth to his words.
i rolled my eyes, i knew he was right. but i was too stubborn to admit it. "oh yeah? you try packing for a week away and then come talk to me." i said to him teasingly.
he looked down at his single carry on suitcase and back at me, "i already did."
i let out an annoyed huff, damn him for always being so good at packing. i looked down at his bag, then back up to him. "ugh, not all of us have your neat freak skills."
CANCUN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
cancún, mexico
4pm
it had been a 4 hour flight. at times it had seemed like the hours were dragging, but before i knew it, it was over. nick had watched a movie or two, and i had browsed on my phone.
we waited a few moments as the plane was guided to its spot to dock. it wasn't very long before the plane was finally parked and we were deboarding.
the airport was big and beautiful, it was clear that the mexican government had worked hard to keep it nice and clean. i could feel the excitement as the tropical air hit me. i walked beside nick as we made our way through the airport.
"ready to have some fun?" he asked, his voice a bit teasing, but it was clearly laced with excitement.
i nodded, a small smile on my face as we walked. "you have no idea." i said to him, i was beyond ready to just have a week away from anything stressful and to enjoy the beautiful place.
we neared the baggage area when we heard a feminine voice call out, "lucky!!" i paused and looked around for the owner of the voice. a moment later, a pretty brunette girl holding a phone stood not too far away.
i figured she was one of my fans, but i still asked, "yeah?"
the girl came towards nick and i, excitement on her face. "can i get a picture with you?" she asked us both, a big smile on her face.
i couldn't help but smile at the girl's excitement. i nodded, "of course!" i said happily. nick gave me a slightly cocky smirk, knowing that i was a magnet for fans.
the girl's smile widened and she looked down at her phone for a moment. "can you hold this?" she asked us, she held the phone out to nick.
"of course." he said, he clearly had been in this situation before.
i positioned myself with her and looked at the camera with a smile. we took about 3 pictures, before the girl said, "thank you!!" excitedly to nick and i.
"no problem!" i said to the girl, still smiling. the girl gave me one last thanks before walking away, looking down at her phone to see her photos.
i could see nick's cocky smirk still on his face as i turned back towards him. "don't look at me like that." i said with a soft, teasing scoff.
nick raised an eyebrow at my words but still held a smirk. "how should i look at you then?" he asked, his voice mocking.
i rolled my eyes, pretending to be irritated at his words. "not with that stupidly handsome cocky, smug, self-satisfaction look." i said jokingly.
that clearly only made his smirk widen. he took a step towards me, clearly enjoying my reaction to his cockiness. "self-satisfaction look, huh?" he said as he tilted his head, seemingly amused.
i noticed the carousel begin to move, and i turned my head to watch. nick waited beside me, an amused expression still on his face.
a second or two passed before the first bag appeared. "there's mine!" i said to nick as i pointed to one of my suitcases.
nick chuckled softly as i got excited about my bag being the first one out. "jeez, look how fast that came out." he teased.
i pointed another one of my bags, a bit excited that my luggage came out quickly. "that one's mine too!" i said, i knew he was rolling his eyes at my excitement.
nick laughed at my excitement. he took both of my suitcases off the carousel, he was definitely not feeling impatient like i had. he gave me a cocky look, "someone's excited and impatient." he said with a chuckle.
i huffed and crossed my arms to try and look annoyed, though i still had a slight smile on my face. "i'm not impatient...i'm just excited to get to the villa. i don't wanna be stranded in the airport with a suitcase in need of a wheel alignment." i said, gesturing to nick and his single, small bag.
nick chuckled at my comment, the smirk still present on his face. "oh please, you're impatient. and my suitcase's wheels are just fine, thank you very much." he replied, his voice was still taunting me. "c'mon, let's get the car."
AIRBNB
cancún, mexico
5:15pm
nick and i got in the car and began the drive to the airbnb. i looked out the windows as he drove, i couldn't help my excitement at the tropical trees and the beachy scenery.
it took about a half an hour to reach our destination. i was blown away as we pulled up to the private villa that was near a beautiful, secluded beach.
i got out of the car and i couldn't help my jaw from dropping slightly as i looked at the stunning villa. nick got out a moment after me, a proud smile on his face. he had picked the villa and he clearly knew that he had chosen right.
i turned to nick, my eyes wide as i tried to express how stunned i was. "nick, this is beautiful!!" i said to him happily.
he chuckled and opened the jeep trunk to get our suitcases. "i know, it's great, right?" he asked, his tone was cocky and proud.
i turned back to look at the house and the beach. "great is an understatement, it's absolutely stunning!" i said, a small, awed smile on my face. i took a few steps forward to get a better view of the ocean and sand.
nick chuckled at my reaction as he shut the trunk with the suitcases. his amused smirk widened at my excitement. "yeah, yeah, i did a damn good job at looking for a place, didn't i?"
i tore my eyes off the beach and looked at him. he had the same cocky, proud look on his face. i rolled my eyes and smiled playfully, how he always seemed to know he was making a good point. i took a step towards him and got close to him.
i kissed him softly before i pulled away to speak, "yes, you definitely did." i said to him in a low, mocking voice, i had to admit, he really did.
