! KILLSHOT !
( a nicholas alexander chavez fic )

AIRBNB
los angeles, california
september 30, 2024
tuesday
9:30am

i was out cold. last nights events were very memorable. i enjoyed my dinner with nicholas and after i enjoyed a wild night of partying, alcohol flowing like water, and over a hundred people singing happy birthday to me. it was truly a dream.

i was asleep in the luxury airbnb i was staying at. the sun had risen over the la skyline, its golden light filtering in through the bedroom windows. but i was oblivious to it all, still lost in the world of dreams.

i was in the middle of a dream, a very interesting one when suddenly a loud buzzing sound yanked me back to reality. i snapped my eyes open, disoriented for a moment. it took me a few seconds to realize it was my phone ringing.

i groaned, my head throbbing from the overindulgence the previous night. i rolled over and groped around on the nightstand until my fingers closed around the familiar shape of my phone. without looking at the screen, i answered it.

"what?" i said, my voice groggy and annoyed.

"move the camera, we don't want to see your ear." a voice i recognized as lucy's said.

i sighed as i realized it was a facetime call. i put the camera at my face to see it was a group facetime call with colleen, marley and lucy.

"it's too early for this bullshit," i said groggily to them.

marley shook her head, "it's 12:30!" she exclaimed.

"time differences, mar. time differences." i informed her.

"oh my god...you're in bed. are you in bed with him?" lucy questioned with raised eyebrows.

i rolled my eyes, sitting up against the bed's headboard. "who, nicholas?" i asked, feigning ignorance.

"no, the tooth fairy!" colleen retorted, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

"yeah, yeah, i'm in bed." i huffed, my eyes still adjusting to the bright screen. i then moved the camera to reveal the bed. "a big empty bed at that. how do you guys even know about nicholas?"

"because there was some photo posted of you two walking into nobu together. a paparazzi account posted it." colleen explained.

i nodded, signaling that i understand her words. the paparazzi photo was no surprise to me, nobu was a big paparazzi spot and i'm lucky cheyenne clarke.

"so, tell us everything!" marley piped up, her expression excited.

"there's really nothing to tell." i said, trying to sound nonchalant.

there was a pause before lucy blurted out "bullshit."

the others nodded in agreement, giving me doubtful looks.

"come on, lucky. you go to nobu with a hot up and coming actor for one night and there's nothing to tell?" colleen asked, her voice disbelieving.

i groaned inwardly. as expected, my friends were not going to rest until they had every detail. i leaned back, resigning myself to their interrogation.

"ugh, fine, fine." i relented. "so basically, you know how i like to drink and people watch at the park?" i paused. "jesus that sounds so creepy but anyway."

"we've already established you're a borderline creep, continue." colleen encouraged, her eyes intently on me.

i shot her a glare before resuming. "and so i saw him at central park a few days back." i continued. "anyways, i ran into him at a coffee shop here in los angeles and we just started chatting. he's nice, pretty interesting." i said. "and we were talking about my birthday dinner plans and i accidentally invited him to nobu with me and then he came." i said all in one breath.

there was silence on the other end, my friends processing my words.

"that's it?" lucy finally said, her voice sounding slightly disappointed.

i shook my head, "not exactly..." i paused before continuing. "then my mom and dad showed up at nobu and they were pissed i hadn't told them i'm in los angeles and now they're throwing me a birthday party tomorrow and they invited nicholas." i finished.

more shocked silence followed. i could practically hear the gears turning in their heads.

"oh my god," marley said, finally breaking the silence. "you're taking him to a family party? what are you, crazy?!" she exclaimed.

colleen looked equally as shocked but also slightly enthralled. "and your parents approved of him?" she asked.

lucy shook her head. "forget all that! your parents crashed your date?!" she exclaimed.

i rolled my eyes, their reactions exactly what i expected. "please, date? it was hardly a date." i said, trying to downplay the whole thing. "and yes, my parents approved of him, of course. they've seen every episode of that soap opera he was in." i explained.

marley was silent momentarily, before speaking up. "lucky, do you realize how crazy this all is? like this is insane." she said, her voice slightly incredulous. "he's going to one of your family's parties. jesus when i went i almost fell asleep." marley said. and it was true, marley had gone to a couple of my parents' parties given that we're childhood friends and every single time she was moments away from drooling on her sleeve.

i couldn't help but chuckle softly at the memory. "yes, i'm very well aware of how insane all this is. trust me, i'm surprised myself."

lucy raised an eyebrow, a smirk on her face. "did you at least make out with him?" she asked bluntly, her eyes expectant.

the other two looked at me, waiting for my answer. "no, we did not make out." i finally said, my voice filled with something. disappointment, annoyance?

marley looked shocked, "really? you didn't kiss?!"

colleen was the same, "no kissing at all?" she frowned.

"why's that so surprising?" i asked, slightly amused.

colleen shrugged. "i mean, you're lucky cheyenne clarke. you make friends anywhere you go and as i saw from your instagram story, you can get the whole club singing your birthday. so of course we'll assume you'd kiss the hot guy you met." she said casually.

i chuckled dryly, shaking my head in disbelief. "wow, you guys really have a high opinion of me.." i said with mock surprise.

marley rolled her eyes. "you've had so many guys who were willing to go further than just making out with you." she said bluntly.

i nodded and laid back down. "are you guys done? because i'm still tired."

they knew when to drop it, knowing further discussion would get them nowhere. "but are you gonna kiss him at the party?" colleen asked, a sly smile on her face.

i groaned loudly. "oh my god, i have no idea. go ask a magic 8 ball or something." i retorted. "goodnight." i said before hanging up.

i was just about to drift off to sleep again when suddenly my phone rang yet again. i groaned in annoyance, opening my eyes and checking the caller id. it was my manager, reagan.

"hello?" i said in hopes of sounding sick so she wouldn't make me do anything.

"lucky," she said in her no nonsense tone, "did i wake you?"

i closed my eyes, not needing to fake the tiredness in my voice. "yes," i replied. "what's up?"

"since you're in los angeles i figured it'd be a perfect time for you to be interviewed by galore. you know they keep asking but you're never in los angeles." she explained, "so head over to their studio, they'll take photos of you and interview you for an article on you. fun, right?" she said. her voice monotone like always when she's in a mood.

"loads of fun." i agreed tiredly. "what time do i need to be there?"

reagan's voice stayed as emotionless as ever. "as early as you can. they need you before noon."

i sighed. "i guess i'll get ready and head over." i said.

"great. don't let me down now." reagan instructed before hanging up.

annoyed to say the least i swung my legs over the bed and made my way to the bathroom to get ready for the day.

GALORE STUDIO
los angeles, california
11am

i was still slightly hungover but as always, i looked good. i dressed casually, a white tank, blue jeans and a leather jacket on. my hair and makeup wasn't done, i had learned to not do either as the stylists like to do both.

i arrived at galore, the security guards recognizing me. i was let in instantly.

i walked into the studio where i was ushered to hair and makeup. "so while they work on your hair and makeup, i'm going to interview you and just ask a few questions about your life for the article. sound good?" said a lady. she was fair skinned, long brown hair pulled back into a sleek ponytail. there was a pleasant smile on her face, but also slight arrogance. she wore a white blouse paired with pants that seemed a little too tight for my liking. "my name is kathy, by the way." she said. she sat down in a chair across from me, a notebook in her hand. "we'll start with something easy, tell me about yourself."

i smiled politely, my usual public persona on display. i gave her a brief summary of my life. my childhood, my family, my career. she wrote down some notes before asking another question.

"do you remember the first time you went to a fashion show?" kathy asked, her pencil poised over her notebook.

i nodded, a smile appearing on my lips. "of course i remember. my mom had taken me to a paris couture week when i was nine. i had been in awe, completely mesmerized by the beautiful clothing and the elegance of it all. after that, my love for fashion only grew. and by the time i was thirteen i had walked my first runway for diane von furstenberg."

she smiled, writing down the details. "speaking of your first runway walk. i recall you being the youngest model to walk the diane von fortenberg runway." she said, her head tilted slightly as she skimmed over her notes.

"yes, i suppose i was." i confirmed, my voice casual.

she raised an eyebrow slightly, an amused look on her face. "so you're not surprised you were only thirteen walking for her?" her tone was slightly playful, trying to provoke a reaction out of me.

i chuckled, shaking my head. "no, i'm not. i was always mature for my age, even then. but also, my mother had already prepared me for walking a runway by allowing me to walk alongside her and my sister on rented out catwalks." i explained.

CROSSROADS KITCHEN
melrose, los angeles, california
5pm

i walked into crossroads kitchen with ramona and guinevere. the restaurant was buzzing with energy, the smell of delicious gourmet food filling the air.

we were immediately led to our table by the hostess, menus placed upon the table. we sat down and settled in before looking at the menus.

i eyed the menu before setting it down and looking up at my sisters. "you guys know what you're getting yet?" i asked.

ramona nodded, her eyes skimming over the menu. "a caesar salad and a green juice."

i eyed her with a raised brow. "you're such a health nut." i teased. ramona stuck her tongue out at me.

guinevere rolled her eyes as she placed her menu on the table. "you two are like children." she remarked, her voice dry.

i gave her a pout. "but gwen, you love us." i said, my voice sickeningly sweet. "how's living in..." i paused as i tried to recall. "where do you live again?"

"tennessee." she deadpanned.

my eyes widened slightly. "that's where all those country singers come from, no?" i teased.

ramona giggled while gwen shot me an annoyed look. "please don't remind me. i hear enough country music when i walk down the street." gwen replied with a slight glare.

ramona chuckled. "speaking of the place, are you seeing anyone?" she asked with a smirk.

gwen shot her a look, "did mom put you up to this?"

ramona held up her hands and protested. "i'm just asking an innocent question."

"well if you must know..." gwen said as she placed her left hand on the table, a big diamond oval shaped ring sat on her ring finger.

me and ramona's eyes widened comically, our jaws dropping slightly. "you're married?!" i exclaimed, my voice sounding high pitched to my own ears.

gwen shrugged, as if what she had just revealed wasn't earth shattering. "yeah, been married for six months now."

ramona's eyes widened even more. "and you didn't think to tell us?" she asked, a hint of indignation in her voice.

gwen chuckled dryly, picking up her drink and taking a sip. "i figured you guys would find out eventually." she replied nonchalantly.

ramona and i exchanged looks before looking back at gwen.

"you're so insufferable, you know that?" ramona said, her voice amused.

"do mom and dad know?" i questioned.

gwen nodded once and released a sigh, "that's why i'm here. i'm going to tell them that i'm married."

"after six months you finally decide to tell them?" i said, my eyebrows raised in confusion.

she rolled her eyes yet again. "i know i should've told them sooner but.." she trailed off before continuing, "now i'm pregnant so i feel like i should really tell them now."

me and ramona's eyes widened yet again, our shock growing. "you're pregnant??" i asked, unable to keep the shock out of my voice.

"are you ladies ready to order?" asked the waitress who walked over, completely oblivious to the ongoing conversation.

ramona picked up her menu quickly. "i'll have a grilled chicken caesar salad, thanks."

i looked up at the waitress as i picked up my menu. "i'll have a cheeseburger, thanks." i said not clearly focused on what i had just ordered.

i shot another look at guinevere, who continued to look unbothered by our reaction to her news.

guinevere looked up at the waitress, her gaze unperturbed and calm as she ordered. "i'll have the portobello mushroom burger please."

the waitress nodded, writing down our orders quickly. "perfect, i'll bring it out as soon as possible." she flashed us a smile before walking away.

i looked back at guinevere intently. "hold up, back up. you're really pregnant?"

guinevere nodded. "yes. about three months."

ramona looked at guinevere as she leaned back in her chair. "and you're just now telling us about this?" she said, completely and utterly baffled as i tried to steal a glance at gwen's stomach.

gwen followed my gaze. "my stomach isn't showing." she said bluntly. her words slightly harsh but i knew it was just her natural personality.

ramona narrowed her eyes, her eyes still on gwen. "yeah but that doesn't explain why you hid this from us. when were you planning on telling us?" she asked, her words slightly offended.

"you know now, that's all that matters. can we just enjoy the ambience and the fact that we're all here together, please?" guinevere said with the roll of her eyes.

ramona continued to glare at gwen as i leaned back in my chair, letting out a sigh. "can we at least know who the lucky guy is?" i asked, my eyes studying gwen intently.

"you'll see him when you see him. if you see him." she said harshly.

ramona crossed her arms and let out a huff. i chuckled at her indignant expression, my eyes still on guinevere.

"why are you being so mysterious?" i inquired. "what is his name? what does he look like? what does he do?"

gwen rolled her eyes yet again, seeming like she had answered these questions a million times. "don't worry about who he is. the less you know, the better."

"guinevere." ramona said.

"fine! since everyone wants to know my fucking life." she snapped. "his name is lucas. he's tall and blonde. he's an advertising executive for a sports company and i met him through a friend." she said, her chest going up and down showing that she's upset. she cleared her throat and took a deep breath, calming down. "happy now?" she said in her normal tone.

"absolutely ecstatic." i said sarcastically before getting up and walking to the bar that was located a few feet away from the table.

my sisters continued to chat amongst themselves as i strolled over to the bar. the restaurant wasn't too crowded yet so luckily the bar was empty.

a middle aged man was standing behind the bar, giving me a kind smile as i sat down at the bar. "what can i get for you?" he asked.

i returned his smile before replying. "can i get a vodka soda, please." the man nodded before starting to walking over to some of the shelves to start making my drink. "actually! sir?"

the man looked up at me, a questioning look on his face. "yes, ma'am?" he asked.

"do you have any scotch?" i asked with a small smile.

the man nodded and motioned to a shelf full of different kinds of scotch. "i have every kind of scotch you can imagine."

my eyes widened slightly as i looked at the shelf, seeing every kind of scotch known to man. "i'll go for the oban 14 year, on the rocks please." i said, my voice casual.
