LUCKY, MARLEY AND LUCY'S SHARED APARTMENT
new york, new york

7:45pm
marley and i bursted through the front door of the shared apartment, my cheeks flushed from the after-effects of a night out. the scent of cheap vodka and cologne clung to marley like a cloud as we stumbled inside, her high-heeled boots clattering against the hardwood floor.
lucy sat on the couch, flicking through fashion magazines and sipping a cup of tea. she looked up at the spectacle of our entrance with a bemused expression. "you two went out? without me?" lucy said with a laugh.
i exchanged an amused glance with marley before collapsing onto the couch beside lucy. my hair slightly disheveled, my makeup smudged from the night's shenanigans.
"don't give me that," i protested, grinning. "you were still sleeping. besides, we couldn't wait for you to wake up. the night was calling." i winked, stealing a sip of lucy's tea.
"plus i'd like to think of lucky and i's time out as more of a...pregame." marley said as she sat on the floor below us. "let's go out!" she exclaimed.
lucy raised an eyebrow, her lips curving into a smirk. "a pregame? you two look like you've already partied into the next day."
marley chuckled, propping her elbows on the coffee table. "oh c'mon."
i let out a tipsy giggle, flipping through lucy's fashion mag. "we might've had a few...or several drinks."
lucy shook her head in mock disappointment, yet her eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief. "i'm surprised you're standing, let alone planning another night out." she teased, leaning back against the couch.
i nudged her playfully. "we can always rally. we're young, wild and free, remember?"
"it's only..." marley started to say as she looked at her wrist pretending there was a watch on it. "6pm."
"7:50," lucy corrected.
"ah same difference." i giggled, waving my hand dismissively. "the night is young, lucy!"
"yeah," marley chimed in, grinning lazily. "we're just getting started, baby."
"more like stumbling through," lucy replied, trying to suppress a smile. "you two are a handful together."
"so you're in?" i asked.
lucy pretended to contemplate for a moment, her face feigning deep concentration. "hmm...i suppose i could be persuaded." she said, her tone nonchalant.
"yes!" marley and i cheered in unison, high-fiving each other.

LUCKY, MARLEY AND LUCY'S SHARED APARTMENT
new york, new york
september 20, 2024
4:15pm
last night had been an absolute hurricane. we had gone to the city's poshest clubs, danced the night away, and indulged in more drinks than we probably should have. by 4am, we were weaving through the neon-lit streets of new york, stumbling out way back to our apartment.
we somehow managed to stumble into the apartment at 5am, collapsing onto the couch in a drunken haze, our heads spinning from the wild night.
i groggily opened my eyes, the world around me a blurry mess. sunlight streamed through the curtains, making me squint in discomfort. my head throbbed with a dull headache, a reminder of the previous night's shenanigans. i groaned, rolling over on my bed to grab my phone from the nightstand. the events of the night were hazy, snapshots of laughter, music, and countless drinks swirling through my mind.
i flopped back onto the pillow, shielding my eyes from the intrusive light. i knew i needed to get up and start the day, but all i could manage was a prolonged grunt. i glanced at the time on my phone. 4pm. a normal time that i usually woke up after getting home so late.
with a monumental effort, i swung my legs over the edge of the bed and sat up. it took a moment for the room to stop spinning and for me to find my bearings.
i stumbled out of my room and into the hallway, the sound of the apartment stirring. i heard faint noises coming from the kitchen, and the aroma of fresh coffee drifted into the hallway.
marley, with her wild bedhead and a cup of coffee in her hand, was already up and functioning. she gave me a knowing grin. "morning, sleepyhead."
"or you should say afternoon." lucy said as she gave me a pat on the back. "good afternoon, sleepyhead."
i let out a low grumble, slumping against the countertop. "ugh, don't remind me." i rubbed my eyes, trying to coax the headache away. "how are you two functioning so well?" i mumbled.
lucy chuckled, pouring me a cup of coffee. "lots of water and caffeine, my dear."
marley chimed in with a smirk. "and a little thing called experience. we know how to handle a hangover."
i accepted the cup of coffee from lucy, taking a tentative sip. the hot liquid coursed down my throat, slowly waking me up. "easy for you two to say. you're not the ones who ended up dancing on top of a bar last night."
lucy and marley exchanged a knowing look, their eyes sparkling with laughter. "oh, we witnessed that." lucy said, her voice tinged with amusement.
"yep, and made sure to snap a few pictures for future blackmail material." marley added, her grin widening.
i let out a sigh, my cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "great, add that to the long list of 'things i wish i could forget'." i took another sip of coffee, the heat seeping into my tired bones. i looked up at them both. "so, what's the plan for today? i know you two definitely have something up your sleeves."
lucy and marley exchanged yet another cryptic glance, their grins growing wider. it was becoming more and more clear that they were up to something.
"well, we may have a little surprise planned," lucy said, her voice full of suspense.
i raised an eyebrow, both curious and slightly wary. "what kind of surprise?" i inquired, bracing myself for whatever they might have cooked up.
"we both got paid from our last shoot which calls for...shopping!" marley squealed.
a wave of relief washed over me. shopping? well, that was much better than some of the other surprises they've orchestrated before.
i chuckled, the remnants of my headache slowly fading. "shopping, i can get behind that. i could definitely use some retail therapy after last night's escapades." i paused. "and i have to film for my newest youtube video."
"great!" lucy exclaimed, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "we can combine your filming and the shopping trip, make a day out of it."
marley nodded enthusiastically. "just think of the perfect content we could create... trying on outfits, doing fashion hauls."
"i was just gonna do a day in the life." i said before taking a long sip of my coffee.
lucy rolled her eyes playfully. "oh, come on, lucky. always the practical one. 'day in the life' is so mundane. we can spice things up a bit!"
i couldn't help but grin at her remark. "fine, fine. we can add a touch of glamour to the vlog. but i still want to show a realistic part of my life too."
marley chuckled. "don't worry, lucky. we'll make it entertaining yet relatable. best of both worlds."
STREETS OF NEW YORK
fifth avenue, new york, new york
6pm
i held the camera up to my face as the girls and i walked through the streets of new york, heading to fifth avenue.
"so, let's talk fashion." i said enthusiastically through the lens of my camera. "any specific stores we're hitting first?"
marley looped her arm through mine, her wide grin visible on camera. "oh, the possibilities are endless on fifth avenue, babe."
"we're stopping here first." lucy said as she stopped at a magazine stand that also sold little knickknacks. "a pack of newports please." she said to the man as we stood behind her.
i chuckled, lowering my camera. "still smoking like a chimney, lucy?" i teased.
she took the pack and a lighter. "old habits die hard, lucky." she replied with a smirk as she placed a cigarette between her lips.
marley leaned against a nearby lamppost before grabbing one of lucy's cigarettes. "i always forget you don't smoke." marley said to me as we continued walking.
i shrugged nonchalantly, the camera still recording. "never really got into it."
marley lit the cigarette and took a drag, her exhale blending into the evening air. "you're missing out, darling. nothing quite like a nicotine rush to complement a shopping spree." she teased, a sly smile on her lips.
we darted from store to store, trying on outfits, picking out accessories and indulging in retail therapy to its fullest extent.
at one store, i found a cute vintage dress that hugged my curves perfectly while lucy discovered a pair of statement earrings that added a touch of glamour to any look. marley, meanwhile, discovered a leather jacket with studs.
we laughed, joked and modeled for each other, the camera recording our fashion adventures. at the end of the day, we left with several bags.
as we walked back to the apartment at now 9pm, lucy spoke up. "are you guys up for a club tonight? it's friday night." she added.
marley and i exchanged a look, the prospect of another night out both tempting and tiring after the long day's activities. "hmm..." i pondered.
"i'm always up for a night of dancing." marley replied with a nod.
i looked at both my friends with weary excitement. "well, it is friday night. what could go wrong, right?"

3am
as the night wore on, we stumbled back into our apartment, the door slamming shut behind us.
"another successful night." lucy declared, her laughter bouncing off the walls.
i made a beeline for the bathroom, my fatigue weighing on me. i was about to step into the shower when i realized something.
"shit," i muttered to myself. "the damn video editing."
i paused, frustration mingling with my exhaustion. the deadline to send in the content was in four hours and here i was, drunk and tired.
i padded across the living room, laptop in hand, and collapsed onto the couch. i opened the laptop and was greeted by the project file, taunting me.
the thought of editing a video in my current state was far from appealing, but i had to deliver the content on time. i glanced at the clock. 3am. i had around four hours to piece together the footage and send it out.
