Some things work, some things don't. That's just the way it is. Sometimes it can be changed, sometimes not.
For Koda and Jill it worked. Most of the time. If Koda didn't get too stormy and rough, everything was fine, because Jill had a rather quiet and reserved nature, which quickly became "too much" for her, but as soon as the Rottweiler calmed down, it worked. Being quiet and reserved was just not in her nature and character.
Whether it was late afternoon or early evening, everyone had to decide for themselves, which didn't change the fact that it was the last round of the day and Harper was looking forward to going home.
"Should the two of them run through the garden with us again?" asked Isabelle, after she had called Koda to her and put her on a lead, as two dogs were coming, as it was to be assumed that it was about to get 'loud', "One last round."
"If he doesn't kill her," Harper joked, shrugging her shoulders and putting her hand briefly on her dog's back so that Jill would actually stay with her and not run to the two dogs, who were going in the other direction, because Koda had already taken two steps, "It wasn't so bad."
Compatible yes, but not with every dog, thanks to bad experiences. Yes, Koda was not the only one. By now you could assume, however pessimistic, sad and stupid it might sound, that your own dog had been bitten at least once in the course of its life. There were now too many ignorant and disinterested people who owned dogs. No matter how careful you were, at some point you would meet one of these idiots and by then it was already done. And who was to blame in the end? Right, not the dog that bit. It was usually other people who messed up their own dog.
"Don't worry," Isabelle could be heard opening the gate to the garden for Harper and Jill and then closing it behind her, "He's lovely."
"I'm not worried about that," Harper shook her head and pulled the collar over the black dog's head, "I'm just wondering if he'll do anything if she comes here to look and gets to anything that belongs to him."
"Nothing will happen," Isabelle defended, letting Koda off the leash and watching as the two dogs began to race each other, "If it works outside, it'll work in here. He's incredibly sweet, just..."
"Yes," Harper began to nod in agreement after seeing what had happened in the past, "There are worse things."
