! BAD GIRLS ! BAD GIRLS !

( a sex and the city fic )

SAMANTHA'S APARTMENT
new york, new york
1pm

headed to robert's hampton's home for a weekend getaway, i pulled my lexus up to the curb where samantha was found kissing smith.

"hey you lovebirds!" charlotte yelled from the backseat.

"oh!" samantha said before skipping over to us, smith by her side as he opened the backseat door for her.

"and how are the most beautiful women in manhattan?" smith inquired.

"if we see them we'll ask." miranda replied dryly as she watched smith place samantha's luggage in the trunk.

smith chuckled, "have a sweet weekend. and you ladies bring her back in one piece."

"we promise." i replied.

smith nodded and pecked samantha on the cheek before she climbed into the car with us. "see ya, baby." she said as she shut the door.

"and off we go!" charlotte announced as i pulled off.

LEEDS-HOBBES HAMPTONS HOME
new york, new york
4pm

it took about three hours before the four of us finally made it to the hamptons and arrived at the huge house that robert had offered up for the weekend.

as i put the car into park, we all got out and were instantly amazed with the massive home that robert owned.

"honey, i'm home." samantha said as she took off her sunglasses to get a better look.

i groaned as i stepped out of the driver seat. "honey, i'm hungry."

as miranda and i opened the trunk and began to unload our bags, charlotte let out a dreamy sigh as she looked at the house.

"it's like something out of a movie." she said with a smile.

"that was probably what robert was banking on." miranda said as she hauled her luggage over her shoulder.

i laughed and grabbed my suitcase. "i think he was actually going for 'millionaire chic'." i said sarcastically as the four of us headed towards the house.

"well it worked. this place is fabulous." samantha announced as we walked through the home.

instinctively, i walked to the backyard deck where we were right on the beach.

"hey! we stayed just up the beach." charlotte pointed out from beside me. "remember? the first time we all came..."

miranda nodded in remembrance. "yeah, when you pretended to be a twenty year old."

"and then you got crabs." i said, my mind drifting back to when duncan and i were in the hamptons together at that time but i shook it off.

"guess you really were in your twenties, huh?" samantha joked.

charlotte cringed and rolled my eyes, "don't remind me."

samantha chuckled at her embarrassment before looking at me, "what's on your mind?"

i let out a breath and leaned over the railing. "just reminiscing, that's all." i replied with a forced smile.

"about what?" miranda questioned as she stood beside me.

"just the good ol' days." i said nonchalantly as i looked out on the water. i could feel miranda's eyes on me but i refused to meet her gaze.

"who's hungry?!" charlotte asked. "let's have hot dogs and then i can make my long island iced teas! a virgin one for you." charlotte said as she pointed to my pregnant belly.

i laughed and shook my head. "i'll take the virgin drink, i need to keep this one sober." i joked as i patted my belly.

"coming right up." charlotte said as she danced back into the home.

miranda sighed, "it's so quiet without carrie here."

"oh, she's probably enjoying paris! don't think too much about it." samantha shrugged.

10pm

as the other girls were fast asleep, my mind kept circling back to our previous trip to the hamptons keeping me up.

tossing and turning in the bed, i sighed and flipped onto my back.

i closed my eyes, trying to will myself to fall asleep. but my mind seemed to have a mind of its own.

memories kept flooding back. memories of me and my ex-boyfriend, duncan wright.

then the door opened, revealing a dark figure.

"who is it!? is everything okay!?" i said in a panic, sitting up.

the figure slowly made their way into the room and i grabbed my glasses off the table and placed them on my face.

miranda let out a sigh, "i keep hearing things and i can't sleep." she admitted.

i instantly relaxed back into the bed when she saw who it was. "you scared me, gosh." i said as i adjusted to make room for miranda in the bed.

miranda climbed into the bed next to her and buried her face into the pillow before letting out a frustrated sigh.

i turned her body towards her and placed a hand on her back. "is everything okay? are you having a nightmare?" i asked softly.

"no, not a nightmare." miranda murmured, her words slightly muffled by the pillow.

"what is it then? are you stressed?" i inquired, my hand still on her friend's back.

"no, i'm just..." she started but trailed off, sighing once more.

i nodded, understanding her frustration. "you're just not used to being here without your husband. you miss him, don't you?"

miranda turned to face her, "i'm that obvious, hunh?" she inquired.

"i miss someone too." i admitted.

"holden?" miranda guessed.

i shook my head, "i don't think so. i think i miss duncan, and that's bad...right?" i confessed. "my mind just keeps going back to when he was in the hamptons with us."

miranda raised her eyebrow, "that's normal, right? to think about a previous trip to the same place you're in currently."

i shrugged, "yeah, maybe. but i'm seven months pregnant and now dating a man who talks about marrying me yet i'm thinking about my ex-boyfriend. my ex boyfriend who has a daughter and is engaged." i pointed out.

miranda was quiet, her expression becoming more serious as she listened to me confess my thoughts.

i continued, "i mean, i shouldn't be thinking about him. but it's like i can still hear his voice and it's ridiculous. i haven't seen him in so long and what's worse is that i find myself wondering how he is. like, what he's doing, what he's up to, if the daughter is doing okay. stupid things like that."

"it's not stupid." miranda reassured softly.

i shook my head in disagreement, "it is. i have a boyfriend now. i have holden, who is so amazing to me and treats me like a queen, and i'm thinking about my ex-boyfriend, wondering how he's doing." i said, frustrated with myself.

"honey, you're pregnant. your hormones are probably just making you think irrationally." she said in an attempt to rationalize everything.

i let out a soft sigh, "yeah. you're right. let's go to bed." i said, slightly embarrassed about my confession.

miranda nodded in agreement and turned onto her back, staring up at the ceiling.

then there was a noise, miranda jumped up immediately. "did you hear that?" she asked.

"yeah, sweetie. i think it was just the wind...try and go to sleep." i told her.

"that's no wind!" miranda exclaimed as she opened a drawer, pulling out a knife. "i am now throwing back the covers." she informed me before doing so.

"what the hell is that?" i asked her as i followed her out of the bedroom.

"it's my incase knife. i put it in this drawer when i came up here last time." miranda told me as she led me to the living room.

"incase of what? brisket?" i asked.

"incase of anything. burglars, rapists...don't you have something in case?" miranda inquired.

"i have a phone. but i don't know how much good that'll do me if my friend accidentally stabs me because i didn't know she had an incase knife." i replied dryly, my eyes adjusting to the dark before i turned on the living room light only to see nothing.

"i could've sworn that i heard something!" miranda exclaimed as she walked around the empty living room. "i'm a crazy person! i'm sorry, i'm sorry...you can go back to sleep."

as i watched miranda pace around the living room, my mind wandered back to memories of duncan. it was like suddenly he was all i could think about and i knew i needed a break to clear my head.

"you know what? i'm gonna go see holden." i declared suddenly.

"you're going back to the city? now?" miranda asked as she stopped pacing.

"yeah...i need to get my head on straight." i replied as i headed back to the bedroom to grab my purse.

miranda followed behind me, "do you want me to come with you?"

"no, don't worry about it. stay here and...keep watch." i said jokingly before grabbing my purse, ready to leave in my pajamas.

miranda shook her head, "i'm sorry but i will not let my seven month pregnant friend drive three hours away in the middle of the night."

i laughed and shook my head, "you're acting like i'm driving to california. it's new york. i'll be fine and plus i don't want to ruin the weekend trip for everyone."

"you're not ruining anything. we all know you're crazy." miranda said bluntly.

i playfully rolled my eyes, "hey i'm not crazy! i just need to get away for a few hours." i argued with a smirk.

"exactly. crazy." miranda said, raising her eyebrow at me as she crossed her arms.

"says the one with an in case butcher knife." i shot back as miranda slipped on her shoes.

"touché." she replied, rolling her eyes.

JAMIE AND HOLDEN'S SHARED BROWNSTONE
new york, new york
1am

miranda leaned against my lexus as i walked up the stairs leading to me and holden's shared home.

my eyes widened as i climbed the stairs, seeing the light in the bedroom of our shared brownstone on.

instantly, i felt like there was something off as i made my way to our bedroom.

my breath caught in my throat and i let out a soft gasp when i opened the bedroom door and my eyes met a tall, beautiful woman in bed. the connected bathroom door open with steam coming out indicating that holden was in the shower.

my mind couldn't seem to register the sight before me, the woman was wearing one of holden's shirts, lounging in the bed.

my heart raced as i made a noise that caught the woman's attention. she turned to look at me, her face becoming confused as she sat up.

"jamie?!" she asked, surprised to see me.

i was paralyzed in shock, my eyes darting between her and the bathroom. holden was still in there, blissfully unaware of what was happening right outside the door.

"what are you doing here?" she asked, sitting up more.

i remained speechless, my eyes still wide. i couldn't form words as i stared at her, still trying to process everything.

she noticed the belly under my shirt, a look of realization crossing her face as she connected the dots together.

i recognized the woman from high school almost instantly, her face familiar to me.

"wow, you're pregnant." she pointed out.

"wow, you're in my bed!" i finally found my words.

"well holden invited me." she said simply, gesturing to the bathroom.

i clenched my jaw, trying to control my emotions. holden was still oblivious to the situation going on mere steps away from him.

the woman then got out of bed, walking over towards me. she was at least 5'11 with long brown hair and an almost flawless body.

"jamie..." she began before holden walked out of the bathroom, his hair damp and a towel around his waist.

his eyes widened when he saw me standing there. "jamie? what are you doing here?" he asked, surprised to see me.

"surprise." i spat.

holden's eyes flicked between me and the woman standing by me, realization sinking in on what it looked like. "no! no this isn't what you think." he rushed to explain.

"oh really?! because it looks to me like you have another woman in my bed. not to mention she's a friend of both of ours." i pointed out. "i can't believe you're cheating on me, holden! i'm pregnant for christ's sake."

"hold on, baby, it's not like that." holden said.

"not like that? how is it then, holden?" i asked. "i come back here at one in the god damn morning and there's another woman in our bed. what other way could this possibly be?!"

"just let me explain!" he yelled.

i nodded, "fine. explain."

he paused, at a loss for words as he couldn't explain himself. "maybe it is what it looks like, but-"

"but what?!" i snapped, "but you thought it was okay?! you thought it'd be okay to have another woman, an old friend of both of ours, in our bed?!" i yelled as i made my way down the stairs, headed to front door.

"jamie! wait!" holden yelled behind me, rushing to catch up to me.

i whipped around to face him, "no, holden. screw you! i can't believe you did this to me!" i said as i opened the front door.

holden grabbed my arm, "just listen to me!" he begged.

"let go of me!" i exclaimed, yanking my arm away from his grasp.

he held his hands up, "please, just let me talk." he pleaded.

"i've listened, and i'm not happy, holden. not one bit." i said as i walked next to miranda who was still waiting near my car. "i want you out!" i yelled as i handed her my keys, not in a right space to drive.

"out?! out of our home?!" holden shouted back, shocked.

i nodded, "yes, out. i don't want to see you. i don't want to look at you or be anywhere near you." i said as the tears welled up in my eyes.

holden shook his head, a look of desperation on his face. "i'm not going to leave. it's my place too." he argued.

i gritted my teeth, "well i don't care. i don't want you here!" i yelled back.

"but where am i supposed to go?!" holden asked.

"i don't know! i don't care. be with your little girlfriend then. be with her instead of being here." i replied, anger growing.

his eyes moved to my stomach, "what about the baby?" he questioned, still standing outside in his towel.

"like you actually care." i said coldly, "you clearly didn't care about me or the baby when you had another woman in bed with you." i pointed out before getting into the passenger seat.

holden stood outside, at a loss for words. he stared at me through the window as miranda got in the driver's seat.

miranda started the car and began driving away, the tears silently streaming down my face as i watched holden get smaller and smaller in the rearview mirror.

miranda opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. "do you want to talk about it?" she finally asked.

"i wish i had an incase knife up there." i said, attempting to make a joke out of the upsetting situation.

miranda chuckled softly, "i wish i had one for you too." she replied.
