! BAD GIRLS ! BAD GIRLS !

( a sex and the city fic )

CAFE CAFE
new york, new york
8:30am

out at breakfast with the girls, carrie threw down a paper right infront of miranda. "forget it. i'm not going." she said angrily to miranda.

"to what? what is it?" i asked as i grabbed the paper and held it out for myself and samantha to read.

"steve brady and...aidan shaw." samantha read aloud.

i sighed, "so it's an invitation to the opening of-" i started to say before i was interrupted.

"the bar scout! steve's bar. how did this happen? why are they even friends?" carrie yelled out.

"well according to steve's girlfriend, jessica, who answered his phone while he was in the shower this morning...aidan is steve's silent partner." miranda explained with a deadpanned look on her face.

i raised my eyebrows, completely surprised at this twist. i couldn't believe that steve and aidan would actually be working together, i found it to be absolutely insane.

"how come i didn't get an invitation?" samantha asked.

"you can have mine, sister, because i'm not going." carrie said.

miranda sighed. "carrie. come on, it's a big party, you probably won't even see aidan."

"it's not a party. it's a parade of our failed relationships. i'm sure hers will be there." carrie said, pointing her finger at me.

"excuse me?" i said.

"duncan!" she exclaimed.

charlotte chuckled, "i think it's good aidan invited you. it means he's ready to be friends."

"i don't know what it means, i just know that i don't wanna go and find out at the party." carrie complained.

"maybe it means, "i forgive you, please come."" miranda said, though it was obvious she just wanted any excuse to drag carrie there with her.

"ah, nice try. i'm not going." carrie said.

"i'll go." samantha said as she observed the invitation.

miranda smiled, "thank you! you see? samantha's my friend. i'm going out with samantha and her lesbian lover."

"did i miss a chapter?" i said.

"maria is someone that i happen to see and she also happens to be a woman." samantha explained before speaking to miranda, "let's not invite maria, i could use a night away from the old ball and chain. all we do is sit around and talk." samantha complained.

"that my friend, is what you call a relationship." charlotte said with a wink.

samantha scoffed. "well then i don't know how you people do it. all that emotional chow-chow is exhausting."

"i know, don't you just hate that?" miranda said.

carrie sighed. "ugh, women."

"so let me get this straight... you're going-" miranda said pointing at samantha. "who else? it can't just be us two!"

"when is it?" i quipped.

"tomorrow night." carrie and miranda said simultaneously.

charlotte shook her head, "i can't. dakota's taking me out to dinner." she replied, biting back a smile. "i think he's going to pop the question!"

my head snapped to her, "he's going to pop the question...tomorrow?!" i asked in shock.

"i think so!" she said with a smile.

"well since she'll be busy getting proposed to, we three will be at the bar." miranda said looking between me, carrie, and samantha.

"i already said no." carrie argued.

"you're going!" we all said in unison, even samantha was in agreement.

carrie rolled her eyes, "you guys are ganging up on me." she mumbled with a pout.

"we love you. it's for the best." i assured her. she muttered something under her breath then crossed her arms across her chest.

"fine, fine. i'll go." she finally agreed.

CENTRAL PARK
new york, new york
5pm

after work i sat with my brother, dakota in central park as he discussed his plans for tomorrow night. "tomorrow night, i'm going to ask charlotte to marry me," he informed me.

i widened my eyes, feeling extremely excited. "oh my god. that's amazing!" i exclaimed with a grin.

dakota chuckled at my reaction, "i feel like it's a good time to do it. we've been talking about it and charlotte's already said she wants to." he explained as he relaxed back on the bench. "jemma loves her too..."

"how are you going to do it?" i questioned with an eager voice. the thought of a proposal always made me swoon.

dakota chuckled as he gave me a knowing look. "none of your business." he said.

i groaned and pushed him, "come on...tell me. i'm your sister. it'll be like a pre-telling."

he laughed and then put his arm around my shoulders, "no." he stated firmly. "i'm not going to tell you. you'll hear after."

i playfully rolled my eyes at him, "fine...don't tell me." i said as i leaned my head to side and rest it on his shoulder.

dakota chuckled, "and i'm not going to hint at it either, so you might as well erase all the guesses that are running through your mind right now."

i pulled away and spoke, "did you talk to her parents?"

he immediately nodded. "yeah, i got their approval already."

"well, that's good. did they seem happy?" i asked, i was curious to hear what charlotte's parents thought about the whole thing. i knew they would love dakota, but i wasn't sure if they would be on board with them getting married after five months.

"yeah, i could hear the smiles from over the phone." he explained.

just then i heard, "if it isn't the boyd siblings."

we both turned to see holden walking towards us, he had his usual smirk on his face.

"holden andel." my brother greeted with a nod.

holden nodded back at him then his eyes fell on me. "jamie." he said in a low tone, "always good to see you."

"what? i'm not good to see?" dakota joked from beside me as he stood up to properly greet his old high school buddy.

holden chuckled and shook his brother's hand before looking back at me. there was something in his eyes, lust and want. it was as if he could see right through me.

i swallowed and stood up beside dakota. my eyes raked over holden, from his black shoes to his leather jacket and even to the bag in his hand. "what's in the bag?" i asked.

"chocolate chip cookies." holden answered as he held up the bag.

i raised my eyebrows, "i can't tell if you're joking with me."

he chuckled, "unfortunately i'm not." he then held out the bag to me. "go on, take one."

i hesitated then took a cookie out of the bag. i took a bite out of it, the sweetness practically exploding in my mouth.

holden's gaze was still fixed on mine. he was watching me eat the cookie. he then suddenly asked with a smirk, "taste good, hm?" his voice was low and seductive.

i nodded and laughed awkwardly. "yeah, great!"

"it's from my favorite little bakery just up the street. you'd never know where it is, unless you know the place. i'll have to take you there sometime." he said.

i swallowed the last bites of the cookie that was in my mouth and nodded. "yeah, i'd like that."

dakota then looked between us with a knowing look, making me unexpectedly extremely awkward.

"well, it can't be tomorrow night because i'm going to a bar opening with some girlfriends!" i exclaimed.

dakota shot me a confused look while holden laughed in a confused manner. "i do love beer." holden said, his eyebrows furrowed as he picked up on my awkward demeanor.

"there will be lots of beer there." i added.

he smiled, "and cookies?" he asked with a chuckle. he was obviously just messing around, he seemed amused at my awkwardness.

i shook my head, "sadly no, but there will be alcohol."

"oh? which bar is it?" he inquired, looking interested.

"uh, steve brady's new bar. i doubt you know him. it's called 'scouts.'" i answered as i looked down at the ground, i felt like my brother was looking at me weirdly.

holden nodded, "you're right, i don't know him, but that's alright." he said with a smile.

"so you'll bring cookies?" i asked jokingly.

he chuckled and then placed his hand on my shoulder, "sure, why not?" he said.

my heart skipped a beat, his hand was warm and heavy on my shoulder. i could feel his body heat from a good distance away, and his masculine scent was filling my nose. it took everything in me not to breathe heavily and give away how i felt about him being close to me.

"i've gotta go meet luca but, scout bar, tomorrow night at-?" he said.

"eight pm..." i answered.

"perfect." he replied. he then looked over at my brother, "see you around, boyd."

dakota nodded, "yeah, see ya."

holden nodded back then turned back to me and smiled. he gave my shoulder a small squeeze before leaving.

i watched him walk away. his leather jacket blowing in the wind, the sunlight hitting his chocolate colored hair. it was like i was seeing him in slow motion. his muscular built was evident in the way he walked, and how his broad shoulders were stretching out his jacket.

dakota looked at me, he was raising his eyebrows and smirking. "and what was all the random blabbing about?" he said referring to my random awkwardness.

i shrugged. "i don't know, i just got nervous."

"yeah, i could tell. he's got you completely smitten." he said.

"hey!" i exclaimed as i slapped his arm. "i'm not smitten."

SCOUT'S BAR
new york, new york
8pm

i wore a black mini dress along with a trench coat deep red leather jacket and knee high stuart weitzman boots. i walked through the crowded bar with miranda, samantha, and carrie. "wow..." miranda said as she looked at the bar in awe.

"who are all of these attractive people?" samantha asked as she looked at the men in awe. "hello." she said to a man who walked by.

"who cares? we're looking for aidan, ladies. eyes akimbo." carrie said from behind us.

i rolled my eyes slightly, "aidan? i'm on a lookout for holden."

"right, the hot hockey dad...i can't believe you invited him." miranda said sounding slightly amused by the situation.

"i didn't exactly mean to, i just freaked!" i explained.

samantha laughed softly, "if i came in contact with a six foot four man like holden, i'd invite him too," she agreed.

the four of us tried to keep our eyes peeled for either aidan or holden when we noticed how stiff samantha was. "what's going on sister, getting your groove on?" carrie asked.

samantha sighed. "i threw my back out."

"you did what?" i quipped.

"how?" miranda asked.

"fucking maria with a strap on." she answered quickly. "she fucked me, i fucked her. with all the fucking and talking, i had no idea men had to work so hard."

"how does the strap on work exactly? is it belted or-" miranda questioned.

i nodded, "i was just about to ask that."

"could we not have the strap on conversation right now? this night is hard enough as it is." carrie said.

"sorry." the three of us said.

"how does it work?" miranda asked samantha once carrie turned around.

"hey! what'd i just say?" carrie said angrily towards miranda.

i rolled my eyes again, this time it wasn't subtle. "carrie, will you calm down? if you see aidan then so what? what could he possibly do, yell at you in front of all of his guests?"

carrie looked at me with narrowing eyes, "he could do a lot of things! he could call me a cheater or something." she exclaimed as she crossed her arms.

i rolled my eyes again and muttered something under my breath. "you're overthinking it." i then looked at samantha. "so how does it work?"

"it doesn't. maria and i broke up." she replied.

"was it the strap on that broke the relationships back or just yours?" miranda joked.

"maria thinks that i have intimacy issues." samantha said.

"oh she's crazy!" miranda said.

"oh, come on!" carrie said.

"she's ridiculous." i said.

"i tried, i really did, but i'm not a relationship person." samantha sighed. "i told her from the start! it's not my fault she fell in love with me." she paused and rolled her eyes. "i need a drink." she said before maneuvering over to the bar.

samantha walked over to the bar, leaving me, miranda and carrie behind.

"poor sam..." i sighed. "i hope she's okay."

"she seems like she's getting over it." carrie said.

"yeah, she'll be fine." miranda agreed.

"just needs a new distraction." i joked with a laugh.

i felt hands go around my shoulders and i heard a low, sultry voice behind me say, "talking about something interesting?"

my body froze, i would know that voice anywhere. i spun around and let my gaze travel up a hard, defined body before meeting a pair of deep hazel eyes.

holden.

he smirked and looked me up and down, letting his eyes take their time to admire my figure. "god, you look incredible." he said in a low tone as he took in my outfit.

"says you." i said as i fiddled with his shirt. "thanks for coming."

his right hand was still on my shoulder. he chuckled slightly and leaned closer to me so i could hear him over the music. "how could i not?" he said. he then looked over at the two ladies. "miranda and carrie, right? good seeing you two again." he said.

they nodded and said, "you too."

holden looked back at me before saying, "here's that cookie." he said handing me a wrapped red velvet cookie.

"is this homemade?" i questioned as i observed the perfectly baked sweet treat.

he nodded, "i had to get the best for the best." he said clearly in a jokingly way. "do you want a drink?" he asked as he eyed the bar.

i shook my head. "i'm good." i said with a smile, i wasn't planning on drinking much tonight.

"you sure? not even a glass of wine?" he asked.

"holden." i said with a laugh.

"what? just one glass." he pressed.

i let out a sigh, "fine. i'll have one glass of white, please." i said finally giving in to his insistence.

he nodded and walked away, i turned back to the girls only to see miranda. "carrie saw aidan and went to go say hello." she said once she took notice of my confused facial expression.

i nodded and took a bite from my cookie before seeing a shorter guy with round glasses walking over. "and i see a steve brady headed your way." i told her.

her eyes widened as she looked at something behind me. "and i see a duo headed towards you." she said before turning to greet steve.

confused, i looked behind me to see duncan and amelia walking over towards me. both had huge smiles on their faces.

"jamie!" duncan said in his texan accent as they walked up together.

"hi, duncan." i said sheepishly, wiping the crumbs off of my mouth.

"hey, how are you?" he asked, clearly trying to act casual and normal.

"i'm good. how are you?" i replied in an equally awkward manner.

"i'm pretty good. how are you?" he repeated the question without realizing.

"i'm good." i repeated with a fake smile. "how are you? you look beautiful!" i said to amelia.

"oh, thank you!" she exclaimed, her lips forming into a huge, sweet smile. "i'm doing great, too."

i couldn't help but feel a little envious of her youthful beauty. she had a natural glow to her, youthful and angelic. she had thick, dark hair and deep brown eyes that seemed to shine in the dim lighting of the bar room.

holden returned moments later with two cups in his hand. a glass of white wine in his right hand and a beer in his left. he handed my wine to me with a smile.

"thanks." i said as i took it from him. my fingers lightly brushed against his in the process and i could've sworn i felt a spark of electricity between us.

i brought the glass to my lips for a sip, letting the sweet, velvety liquid enter my mouth as i felt holden's intense gaze on me.

"your dress looks amazing." he said, his voice low again, private for my ears only.

"holden meet amelia and duncan my-" i started to say but didn't finish as i didn't know what to call duncan. were we exes? he only referred to me as his girlfriends once...before he said he was done with us.

before holden could question or ask anything else, duncan interjected. he looked a little irritated, but he played it off well. "holden, how's it going?" he asked politely, extending his hand.

"good, good," holden answered as he gave duncan a firm handshake. i saw holden's eyes look him up and down for a second, sizing him up.

"how long have you known jamie?" duncan asked holden, he leaned back against the counter and crossed his arms as he watched him and i talk.

"long enough." he answered casually.

amelia giggled, "that's not a real answer."

"he's right. i've known him since highschool." i replied as i looked up at holden.

i saw duncan's eyes widen ever so slightly at the way i said 'highschool' and how holden and i were looking at each other. i also saw the way holden smirked at duncan's reaction.

"how do you two know each other?" holden asked, taking a sip of his beer as his gaze bounced between the two of us.

duncan spoke up again, "jamie and i dated." he said simply.

holden's eyebrows raised slightly. "dated?" he repeated.

he nodded his head in response, "mhm."

"hm, for how long?" he asked as he looked back at me.

"long enough." i answered, mimicking his response from earlier.

holden didn't seem to have a problem with my response as he laughed loudly.

duncan's eyebrows furrowed together, "that's not a real answer." he said as he looked at me.

"touché," i said with a shrug as i observed amelia.

"i love this song!" she announced as 'gypsy woman' by crystal waters started playing. the younger girl then began dancing.

holden looked at amelia and laughed. his laugh was warm and genuine. it caused butterflies to fly around my stomach like crazy as i took in his handsome face and body.

amelia stopped dancing and looked at duncan with big, glossy brown eyes. "dance with me!" she said, her cheeks were flushed and a slight sheen of sweat on her face.

"not right now." duncan said as he put his arm around her shoulder, "i'm going to go get us more drinks, okay?"

amelia's shoulders slumped slightly but she nodded her head. "okay, fine. hurry back." she said to him, her voice slightly whiny.

i watched as amelia's lips pouted as she watched duncan walk away. i placed my wine glass down on a nearby table and took another bite of my cookie. she then looked at me and took hold of my hands causing my cookie to go flying out of my hands. "no negotiations, just dance." she said in her sweet, high pitched voice.

i chuckled, she was extremely persuasive.
