『*』T W O『*』
(I found this on google, credit to whoever took it)
November 1976
(A/N: I know the Black family has a tradition of naming their kids after constellations but I couldn't really find one that I liked for this character so I changed that)
Bella was greeted by an extremely tall man with untamed hair and a wild beard. She had guessed he was about Eight feet tall which was kind of terrifying to her since she was only Five feet and Six inches (167.64 centimeters). He cast her a kind smile and she instantly relaxed, he didn't seem like the type to hurt anyone.
"Ello I'm Hagrid. Sorry if the train ride was a bit lonely. We don't normally get transfer students, especially this late in the year." He said, Bella immediately recognized his thick accent to be Irish.
"It's okay, My name is Annabelladonna." She said, smiling at the man.
"That's a mighty long name. Is their any story behind it?."
"My parents couldn't decide whether they wanted to name me after my great grandmother Annabella, or after the Belladonna plant (also known as deadly nightshade) so they combined the two names." Hagrid lead her to a single boat that rested at the shore of a large lake. Bella could see the castle at the other end of the lake and a deep pit of anxiousness filled her stomach. She steadily sat down in the boat and made small talk with the giant who was bringing her to her school. She had no greater urge in her mind than the urge to fling herself off the boat and let whatever lurked in the water have its way with her but she knew she probably shouldn't do that. When the boat finally stopped she started walking to where a woman in emerald green robes was waiting.
"I'm professor Mcgonagall. Follow me, you need to be sorted and the feast has almost begun." With those words Mcgonagall turned and opened the giant wooden doors slowly walking in. Annabelladonna followed, the only thing she could focus on was the beating heart in her chest and the subtle ache in her feet. The older woman led her to a corridor outside of the great hall and told her to wait there until she came back. Bella started pacing as soon as the door shut behind Mcgonagall. Her perfect posture was immediately forgotten as she fiddled with her robes and fixed her hair. Suddenly the door opened and Her new Transfigurations professor beckoned her into the room. She saw four long tables all occupied by happy children chatting away. It reminded her of how she used to be that happy with Asher and Apollo. She could feel her heart breaking just a little bit more, longing for her best friends. She put on a brave face and hurried after the professor. Bella could feel eyes on her so she just focused on her steps. At the end of the isle Mcgonagall stopped and stood in front of a stool that housed a rather old hat. Suddenly a man with a long grey beard and eyes that shone like Christmas lights stood up and started speaking.
"SILENCE! I have something to announce. We have a transfer student from beauxbatons her name is Annabelladonna Black, treat her kindly. Now here are some words I like, scrumptious, alas, canoe, and cupcake. That is all." After the man (who Annabelladonna found to be quite mad) finished speaking he gestured for Bella to put on the hat, then sat in his chair. She nervously made her way to the stool and lifted the hat off of it. She lowered the hat onto her head and it began to speak.
"Hmm another Black. I'm sensing an overwhelming amount of loyalty, but you're also very clever and your creativity faces no end. You're incredibly cunning but I feel you would see no growth in the Slytherin house due to how you view your family so it would do you no good. You value bravery and chivalry but not above other traits. Which would you like then, Hufflepuff, the house of the hardworking or Ravenclaw, the house of wit?"
"I think I'd like to be in Hufflepuff please." She thought.
"Well then a badger you shall be... HUFFLEPUFF."
"Have a nice day." Bella thought before removing the hat and walking excitedly over to the Hufflepuff table.
A group of four boys at the Gryffindor table couldn't help but stare at her conversing happily with Amos Diggory. Their eyes had been following her ever since Dumbledore called out her last name. Three of the boys were puzzled, trying to figure out if she could be related to the fourth boy, the one with the shaggy black hair and the ego that stretches for miles. Sirius Black was just shocked. He'd never thought of the possibility that on that day his twin sister would be at his school, especially adorned with yellow robes and a genuine smile on her face. He hadn't seen her smile since they were eleven. The last happy memory he had featuring her was the day before he had found out she'd be leaving for France. They had sat on the swings in a park a block away from their house. It was a muggle Park so they had to silently sneak out, dragging a confused ten year old Regulus behind them. You see they sort of didn't tell Regulus where they were going until it got there, he was just so funny when he was confused. The three hyperactive children were running across the playground playing tag and they felt as if there were no problems in the world.
Moments like that didn't come often. Moments without the screaming of Walaburga and Orion. Moments where they could have a smile on their faces and not have it slapped off. Moments where they could act like the kids they never got to be. Sirius missed those moments, just looking at her made him long for the thought of a better childhood but it was too late. He had deemed her a traitor in his mind. Seeing her looking so happy in his school, wearing a uniform not so different to his, infuriated him. The anger however was shoved aside by the overwhelming urge to go over there and hug her. To braid her hair and gossip over hot chocolate like they used to.
