It was now first period.

Loud chatter echoed through out the classroom and the door opened as their teacher; Mr. Gavin, walked in, his tail swaying slowly behind him.

'Alright class, quiet down!',His loud voice boomed through the room, causing the werewolves to quiet down and looked towards him as he walked toward his desk,'Today, we're going to talk about the most important thing for us werewolves. Mates'

Mixed sounds of groans of disgust and excitement filled the room as everyone heard this sentence.

Curious as to what he was saying, a small hum of curiosity left Rosemary's lips and she paid close attention to what Mr. Gavin was teaching.

Rolling his eyes, he demanded for everyone to quiet down and soon, the room was silent once more.

'Now, back to the topic at hand',He stated and cleared his throat, beginning the lesson,'For us werewolves, mates are as important as having an alpha, a beta and an omega. It's like the equivalent to a human's soulmate, except, we do what's called "Marking".'

Seeing as someone had raised their hand in question, Mr. Gavin pointed towards the girl and watched as she lowered her hand, beginning to speak.

'How do you know if someone's your mate?',The girl asked.

Low murmurs of agreement filled the classroom and Mr. Gavin waited for them to settle down, before answering the question.

'Well',He started and cleared his throat,'The instant someone sets their eyes on their mate, they would know. They would feel a pull towards the person as your inner wolves would start acting up and try to go towards one another. When they catch the one of a kind scent of their mate, their wolf goes crazy and after that, when they touch they feel electricity between them; as if lightning was coursing through their veins. Now, mates are for life, you only have one mate and one mate only; after you turn 18, you can find your mate, but finding them sooner is very rare and almost never happens'

Seeing someone else raising their hand, Mr. Gavin pointed towards him.

'But how would other wolves know that they're your mate?'

A small hum left Mr. Gavin's lips and he informed the young man that it was a very good question.

'That's where something called marking comes in',Mr. Gavin explained, causing all of the students to murmur in confusion,'Once a werewolf finds his or her mate, they marks them, letting other werewolves know that they're taken. This is done by him biting down into her neck with his sharp canines. Now, while it causes great pain, it only lasts a moment and afterwards, they are drawn to each other even more and it's harder to resist one another. Now, while that mark is placed, you are bonded for life and it's impossible for anything to tear them apart, but, if another werewolf tries to steal your mate, they could only do so by replacing the mark. But, they could only do that if they fight you for them and win'

All of the werewolves eyes widened at this and gasps of all kinds filled the room, their shock buzzing within the air.

'While this is rare, it could very much happen',Mr. Gavin explained and seeing the tension in the room, he moved on,'Some wolves have to wait a lot longer than others in order to find their mate, but it's extremely rare and unheard of to not have one'

Seeing the solemn look that slowly spread across the teacher's face, everyone grew worried and prepared for what was to happen.

'When a werewolf.. loses their mate, if they either.. die.. or they lose them by some other way, you go through a very painful agony and will never be the same again, for you can only mate once in your life'

Deciding to move on, he began to talk about the status's.

'So, we all know about our status's. We have the alpha males; who begin and lead the pack, the alpha females; also known as the Luna, is the alpha's mate and also, the chain of command beside the alpha male. Then we have the beta's-'

Hearing this, Rosemary sat up straighter and her ears perked up, watching as some of the werewolves glanced her way out of the corner of their eyes.

'They are one of the most important ranks in a pack since they are the alpha's second in command. When the alpha is gone, the beta will take their place as alpha and lead the pack. The beta is always the alpha's right hand and will not leave until death. And then we have the pack mates, the pups and lastly, the omega'

Hearing about the omega, all of the werewolves tense up and some even snickered under their breath.

'The omega is the lowest in rank. They are subordinate to all others in the community and are expected to remain submissive, they are also used as scapegoats and outlets for frustration. However, most alpha's and sometimes the beta's, still treat them with respect and even care for them, while others may not care for them at all and allow the other wolves to gang up on them'

Hearing about this, Rosemary's ears slowly pulled back and she began to feel bad for whoever the omega was, but slowly, she began to realize that it was the new student.

'But, ranks aren't the only important things for a pack',Mr. Gavin explained and caught everyone's attention once more,'There's pack doctors; who help the injured, the fighter wolves; they are the strongest in the pack and help defend and guard whenever needed, and then there's trackers. The trackers are the best at hunting and tracking down; which gives them their title'

Slowly taking in this information, the students began to slowly understand.

'Now, there's also types of werewolves called "Rogues". These are werewolves that run away and leave their packs to either start their own pack or to live alone. They usually run away because they don't like the alpha or they dislike the pack, but when they meet other rogues, they either fight them or stay together and form a pack of some sort. There are also different kinds of werewolves; we call them, the Ultima and the Evolved werewolf'

Hearing this, Rosemary's eyes widened and her breath hitched in her throat as her mouth went dry.

They were going to talk about.. the Evolved werewolf.

'The ultima werewolf was the first pack of werewolves ever to roam the Earth, and he was their leader. A monster driven mad by his loneliness. The other werewolves feared him and his power. He was cursed to turn other humans into half human, half wolves and werewolves back into humans. He could turn a human by a bite or with his eyes, which were always a blood red. If a human looks into the eyes of the Ultima, they have a 50% chance of either surviving and turning into a werewolf or they die',He explained, causing all of the werewolves; besides Rosemary, to slowly tense up,'And then, there's the evolved werewolf'

Hearing this, Rosemary tensed up and her body froze as her eyes widened, her breath hitching.

'The Evolved werewolf has the ability to strengthen their roar and turn it to a pitch that can make any werewolf or human go deaf. But, like the ultima, the evolved werewolf has the ability to kill anyone with their stare or cause them great pain, however, unlike the ultima, the evolved is susceptible to most powers of witchcraft. Their only known weakness is something called wolfsbane, which can cause an Evolved Werewolf to become severely weak and feverish. The only way you can tell someone is the evolved werewolf is by their glowing, electric blue eyes. It is believed that for generations, the ultima and the evolved were related by one way or another'

Hearing about what could possibly get her hurt in the future, caused Rosemary to swallow nervously and she looked around the room, seeing everyone was no longer paying attention which caused her to let out a silent sigh of relief.

'So, with that, let's begin our next lesson'

Feeling relief settling within her body, Rosemary felt her body relax and she slowly exhaled, making sure that everyone thought it was just a sigh of boredom.

As the bell loudly rang overhead, everyone hurried to get out of the class and Rosemary grabbed her books, holding them close to her chest and quickly walked out into the hallway, her tail slowly swaying behind her as she walked.

'Hey, Rose!'

Hearing someone calling her name, Rosemary's left ear twitched at the sound and she turned around, her vermilion eyes filled with curiosity.

Seeing Daniel walking her way, the beta felt her heart hammering against her chest and she felt confusion fill her veins at the sensation that filled her body.

With a bright smile on his face, Daniel looked down at the girl as he stood in front of her and his eyes brightened.

'What do you have now?',He questioned.

Blinking in surprise, Rosemary reached into her binder and pulled it open, her vermilion eyes scanning over the schedule.

"I have.. lunch!",Rosemary stated and felt a smile form on her lips as she looked up, seeing the excitement blossom within his gaze,"What about you, Daniel?"

'I have lunch too!'

Feeling her smile grow, Rosemary's face brightened and she perked up, her tail wagging quickly behind her.

"Really?",Rosemary questioned, watching as her friend nodded,"Awesome, come on"

Walking beside each other, the two werewolves were pretty much silent the entire time and finally arriving, they look around for a table.

Spotting her sister, Rosemary immediately perked up and her canines sent a harsh pinch to her lip as she smiled.

"Aphmau!"

Perking up at the sight of her sister, Aphmau smiled in her direction and watched as her twin sat across from her, but seeing the werewolf sitting beside her, a confused look formed on her face.

'Huh?',Aphmau questioned, causing Rosemary to look up at her,'Who's this?'

Blinking slowly, a confused look formed on Rosemary's face and she looked towards where Aphmau was looking, her face brightening in realization.

That's right, Aphmau didn't know Daniel very well.

She had only met him the other day.

"Oh, right!",Rosemary exclaimed and introduced them,"Aphmau, this is Daniel, he's a friend of mine"

Hearing this, a small smile formed on Daniel's face and he looked towards her, a soft look in his eyes.

A shocked look formed on Aphmau's face and she looked between the two, before a large smile spread across her lips.

'It's nice to meet you, Daniel',Aphmau greeted.

A smile spread across Daniel's lips and he waved at the brunette, his eyes closing as he gave her a close-eyed smile.

'Nice to meet you too, Alpha',Daniel said, giving her a small nod.

A small sigh of aggravation left Aphmau's lips, causing Rosemary to laugh under her breath before her and Daniel's ears twitched as they heard someone approaching them.

Looking up, the two saw the Meif'wa from before; Kai and he cleared his throat, speaking up, which caused Aphmau to turn his way.

'Excuse me?',Kai questioned,'Is this seat taken?'

Watching as he gestured towards the seat beside Aphmau, a deep and menacing growl broke through Rosemary's lips as her vermilion eyes narrowed, her ears being pulling back.

With her face falling into a deadpanned expression, Aphmau looked across the empty bench she was sitting at and looked back up at the boy.

'No?'

With a small smile, Kai nodded towards the seat beside her.

'May I sit?',He questioned.

With her eyes narrowing into a glare, Rosemary watched as the Meif'wa sat right next to Aphmau and two growls filled the air.

Blinking in shock, Rosemary turned towards Daniel and a look of surprise coated her face, watching as a red tint painted his cheeks, his eyes turning away from her's and he glanced down at the table.

Werewolves were always protective of their alpha.

Opening her lunch box, Rosemary pulled out a tortilla wrap wrapped in aluminum foil and she unwrapped it, revealing a chicken, bacon and lettuce wrap.

Inside her lunchbox was also a small cup of corn with a small bag of Biscochitos and an iced tea.

Unwrapping her food, Rosemary took a small bite and continued to listen to the conversation at hand as she ate.

But seeing that her sister wasn't eating, she decided to speak up.

"Aph?",Rosemary spoke up, causing her sister to turn her way,"Aren't you going to eat anything?"

Glancing down at the table, an embarrassed blush formed on Aphmau's face and she scratched the back of her head.

'I forgot to grab my lunch money',Aphmau admitted.

Shocked by her words, Kai turned her way and rose an eyebrow in shock.

"Wait.."

'You what?'

Letting out a small, embarrassed chuckle, Aphmau glanced between Rosemary and Kai.

'Yeah.. I was in a rush this morning and my mom—',Aphmau stopped, before a harsh gasp left her lips causing Rosemary to jump slightly,'I forgot to eat my breakfast tacos too! Aww..'

Reaching into his lunch box, Kai took out a sandwich wrapped in plastic wrapping and held it out to the girl, before Rosemary could even reach into her lunch box to give her sister something.

'Here'

Slowly taking it from his hand, Aphmau blinked in shock and examined the sandwich.

'What's this?',She questioned.

'It's a tuna sandwich I made'

A small hum left Aphmau's lips and she looked down at the sandwich, a perplexed look on her face.

'You don't like tuna?',Kai questioned.

That wasn't exactly the case.

Rosemary knew that her sister like tuna and knowing what she was going to ask, caused the girl to sigh.

'So.. cats really like fish, huh?',Aphmau muttered.

Eyes widening in surprise, a shocked look formed on the Meif'wa's face and he blinked slightly, surprised by the words that he had just heard.

'W-What?',Kai questioned.

Suddenly, Aphmau's skin turned a bright red and she immediately began to apologize, stumbling over her words.

'Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!',Aphmau quickly apologized, letting out a groan.

With a small laugh leaving his lips, Kai reassured the girl that it was quite alright and that he'd never heard someone say something like that.

As Aphmau continued to repeatedly apologize, the two werewolves watched the whole thing happen and the two of them decided, that they didn't like this boy all that much.

He just gave them a strange feeling.

Letting out a small sigh, a gentle smile formed on Rosemary's face as she reached into her lunch box and pulled out the cup of corn, sliding it over to her sister.

Looking up at Rosemary, a small smile formed on Aphmau's face and she thanked her sister, pulling the plastic cup of corn closer.

'I can't take a whole sandwich from you',Aphmau said, turning her attention back to Kai,'What are you going to eat?'

With a small laugh, Kai reached into his lunch box and pulled out another tuna sandwich.

'I have another tuna sandwich right here',Kai stated,'I usually always bring two. Plus, you're the one with the name Kitty, so I thought you might like it'

Hearing the name, a deep and threatening growl pushed up Rosemary's throat and her eyes gleamed with a dangerous look, her fur bristling as her upper lip twitched up, revealing her sharp teeth.

She had hated that nickname ever since Gene had started calling her sister that.

Hearing her growl, Daniel looked up from his food and looked between Rosemary and Kai, a slice of pizza in his mouth as his eyes gleamed with confusion.

What'd he miss?

A groan of annoyance left Aphmau's lips and she turned towards Kai, an annoyed look on her face.

'My name isn't Kitty and her's isn't Rosie',Aphmau informed, correcting the boy and made sure that he didn't make the mistake of getting Rosemary's name wrong.

A hum of confusion left his lips and he looked between the two as he could've sworn those were the names he had heard.

'Oh, they're not?',Kai questioned,'Then may I ask what they are?'

With a small smile forming on her face, Aphmau gestured between Rosemary and herself.

'My name's Aphmau',She said, before her and Kai looked towards Rosemary,'And that's Rosemary'

Blinking in shock, Kai was confused as to why those two students from before had called them Kitty and Rosie.

'Aphmau? Rosemary?',He questioned, before muttering,'Werewolves have weird names'

Hearing this, Daniel and Aphmau looked towards Rosemary as a feral growl left her lips and she tried to leap across the table to attack the boy, but Daniel quickly stood up and placed his hands on her shoulders, trying to prevent a fight.

Gasping in shock, Aphmau stood up and gently grabbed Rosemary's hand in her own as Daniel coaxed her to sit down, growls of anger leaving her twins lips as she stared Kai down, her vermilion eyes narrowed in anger.

This Meif'wa was walking on thin ice right about now and Aphmau was worried that if her or Rosemary's new friend; Daniel, weren't around, then she'd take the chance and attack the boy.

'I'm not a werewolf!',Aphmau exclaimed.

Agreeing with her, Kai stood from his seat and looked behind Aphmau, but seeing this, made Rosemary snap.

But she couldn't exactly go anywhere at the moment with Daniel holding her shoulders.

'Yeah, I don't see a tail..'

A small gasp left Daniel's lips and his eyes widened as he looked at the Meif'wa.

'Why are you looking!?'

'You're not supposed to look!'

Sitting back down, Kai decided to answer the two and looked between eyes of vermilion and those of amber.

'Because I don't see ears.. unless you're one of the types that can hide it',Kai stated and looked towards Aphmau, a questioning look on his face.

Grumbling slightly, Rosemary went back to eating her food and stayed where she was, but it wasn't like she could jump over the table anyway.

Not with Daniel right beside her and Aphmau right across from her.

'No, I'm just a— ughh',Aphmau groaned in annoyance,'Can we just drop it?'

Biting into her food, Rosemary began to speak up and swallowed her mouthful first, talking with food in her mouth would've been rude.

"She's a human, you idiot",Rosemary stated and the three turned towards her,"That's why she doesn't have ears or a tail"

Deciding to drop the subject, the four went back to eating and biting into the sandwich Kai had given her, a look of surprise filled Aphmau's eyes.

'Mm! It's great!'

With a small laugh, Kai thanked the girl and curiosity filled Aphmau's veins.

'What did you use to make it?'

As Kai began to explain just how he made it, Rosemary rolled her eyes and groaned in annoyance.

'Well tuna, of course! But not just any canned tuna, I get mine straight from the seafood market and then I use—'

Just wanting this lunch to end, Rosemary continued to eat her food in silence and her ear twitched as they continued to talk to one another.

And as the bell rang, the four stood from their seats and headed to class.
