"So, what should I expect when I walk in there?" River says as she turns to Dakota

"Uh, complete and total awkwardness. Maybe some goo-goo eyes between Belly and Jeremiah." He says as he looks out at the road

"Okay." She nods, "And I'm guessing the awkwardness is Liz and Conrad?"

"Absolutely."

"Okay." She laughs

"Isn't it crazy how our relationship lasted the longest out of everyone?"

"Yeah, that is kind of crazy." River smiles, "Our one year is coming up."

"I know. What do you want to do?"

"Road trip."

Dakota frowns. He turns to her quickly before turning back to the road, "A road trip?"

"Yes. A road trip."

"A road trip where?"

"Everywhere." She smiles

Dakota stops at a red light. He looks at her and her smile widens, "A road trip?" She hums as she nods. He takes her hand as he nods. He turns back to the road as the light switches, "Road trip it is."

As soon as Dakota pulled into the driveway, Steven and Taylor were getting out of the former's car.

"Oh shit." Dakota says as he turns the car off

"You didn't say they were here." River groans

"They weren't. I didn't know they were coming." Dakota shrugs

River scoffs as the two hop out. Steven turns toward Dakota, "Hey, dude."

Dakota hums, "I can tell by your tone that you're kinda pissed at me, but none of this was my idea."

"And you couldn't tell me, why?" Steven says as they follow the girls up the steps

"Because I'm a good brother?" Dakota scoffs

"Surprise!" Steven smiles as he walks in. The four immediately take notice of the tension in the room.

"Oh, shit."

"I-I knew we should have told them we were coming." Steven whispered to Taylor

"No, it's not that. It's..." Conrad says

"We're losing the house. They put it up for sale." Jeremiah says as Liz looks up. Her face softens as she sees River. The girl immediately gets up as River holds her arms out.

Belly walks up to Taylor, "Oh, Cinderbelly... They're selling the house?"

"Yeah." She says as they hug. Liz pulls away from River. River cups her face as she smiles.

"Um, I-I brought you blueberry." Steven says to Belly

"I'm glad you're here." She says as she hugs him

"That's a terrible gift. Blueberry is disgusting." Liz sniffles. Everyone chuckles lightly as River pulls her in for another hug.

A couple of hours later, the teens decided to watch a movie together. Everyone sat on the couch as Conrad stood behind them. Liz walked in with a movie in her hand.

River had already chosen her spot knowing that movie nights with all of them was usually a fight for seats. She frowned as Dakota sat beside her. It seemed she and Liz shared the same idea as the girl stopped in front of them.

"Dakota, you're in my spot."

"Oh, well, you snooze, you lose." He chuckles, "You can sit on the floor now."

"Get your ass up." River says as she pushes him, "Don't... No, just let her have it."

"What? Are you-"

"Get off the couch. Just let her have it."

"No. Absolutely not. My back is killing me." He fakes

"Oh, you're back is killing you." River squints

Liz chuckles as the watches them, "You know what? Fine. Fine. I'll sit on the bad couch."

She walks over and plops down on it. River looks over at Dakota who holds his hands up.

"Sorry, Liz. Oh, uh, I ordered pizza. It should be like 30 minutes, but I only ordered one with pineapple, so I call dibs on two slices, all right?"

"Jeremiah, I think that's all you." Conrad says

"Take the entire box." Liz says. Everyone laughs at his dumbfounded expression.

"What?" He says

"Uh, so what do you guys want to watch?" Conrad says

"I was thinking It Happened One Night." Liz says as she holds up the movie. Conrad comes over and takes it from her to put it in the player.

"Oh."

"Yeah. Cool."

"Throwback."

"You can move more..." Steven says to Taylor

As Conrad put the movie in and took his seat beside Liz, everyone had quieted down. The movie River had seen more than a few times since it was one of Liz's favorites had caught their attention.

The movie played on. It wasn't particularly late, but the day had caught up to most of the teens. Steven and Jeremiah had fallen asleep a while ago along with Belly and Taylor. Conrad had gone up to his room as soon as he'd seen that the boys had fallen asleep. River looked over as Liz stood up and stretched.

"I'm gonna go to bed." She says looking over at River, "You gonna head home?"

"Yeah. I'll make him take me." She says looking over at Dakota. Sighing as she realized he had fallen asleep, "If I can get him up."

Liz giggled, "Okay. Night, River."

"Night." She says as the blonde walked out. She turned to Dakota and shook him, "Dakota."

"Hm." He hums with his eyes still shut

"I need you to take me home."

Dakota groans, "What? Why?"

"Because it's getting late." She says as his head lulls over toward her

"Just stay the night." He mutters, "I don't feel like driving."

River huffs as he adjusts the way he sat. She knew deep down that there was no convincing him to get up and drive her home, "Fine, then let's go upstairs. I'm not sleeping down here."

Dakota groans again as she gets up. His eyes crack open as she leans down and grabs his hands. She grunts as she pulls him up. Dakota stumbles when she pulls away from him.

The two made their way up the stairs to his room. As River flicks the light on, Dakota winces, "Jesus, River."

"What?" She says as he shuts the door

"That light is bright as shit."

"Whatever." She mumbles as she digs through his drawer for one of his shirts. Dakota had opted out for simply taking his shirt and shorts off to sleep in his boxers. As River undressed, Dakota clambered into bed and quickly made himself comfortable.

River set her clothes aside before shutting the light off and climbing into bed with Dakota. As she laid down, Dakota wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her close. Their legs tangling together as River let out a small sigh.

"Thanks for being here." He mutters

River looks up at him, "Of course. You don't have to thank me."

"I kinda feel like I have to." He says as his eyes flutter open, "Or at least, want to."

River smiles, "Well, you're welcome."

She then leans up and pecks his lips once and then twice. Dakota's hand comes up and cups her jaw to pull her in again. River hums as the kiss deepens. While her hand had come up to grab his face, his traveled down to her waist to pull her closer. The kiss became more urgent making River sit up slightly before straddling him. Dakota laid back as she climbed on top of him.

Both of his hands squeeze her waist, "God, I missed you so much."

River chuckles lightly before she kisses him again.
