Dakota's eyes open slowly, but he immediately closes them. The sun shined bright through the curtains and it was Dakota's worst nightmare. His head was pounding and he could feel his nausea building with each passing second. He could've sworn he hadn't even drank that much last night, but he was obviously wrong.

He slowly sits up before he makes his way toward his window. He yanks the curtains closed as he groans. His eyes are narrowed as he walks toward his desk. He grabs the glasses he had there and shoves them onto his face.

He knew Susannah loved the house being bright, so she definitely had all of the curtains open. As he opens the door, he can already hear everyone engaging in conversation downstairs. He sighs as he makes his way toward the staircase.

He unintentionally stumbles down holding onto the wall for support.

"Well don't you look chipper." Liz laughs

"I feel like I'm falling from an airplane." He groans causing Jeremiah and Steven to laugh at him.

"Now, which one of you is gonna be Belly's escort to the ball?" Susannah smiles

"Not me. I went last year." Conrad says from his place on the couch.

"Yeah, and I swore off balls." Jeremiah says. Dakota and Steven laugh at the childish joke, "The dances, dude."

"Wow, guys. Stop fighting over me." Belly chuckles awkwardly, "Um, I'm not going with either of you. I am going to find my own date."

Dakota hums as he sits by Liz.

"Wikipedia says debutante balls require instruction in morals and social etiquette." Laurel says

"I'm going for a swim." Conrad says

"She could use some etiquette. Yeah." Steven chuckles

"No offense, Beck, but I don't feel like a country club is the best place to teach Belly about morals." Laurel says. Dakota notices Liz looking out of the window at Conrad. He refused to turn toward him though seeing as it was extremely bright.

Dakota sets his head in his hands as he tunes out the rest of the conversation. He notices Jeremiah walk over and set a bowl in front of Belly.

"Well, hurry up!" Susannah exclaims. Dakota jumps in his chair causing Liz and Belly to chuckle, "We have shopping to do."

"It's not like I was getting any work done anyway." Laurel says

Dakota groans as he lays his head on the table. Liz reaches over and rubs his back as she and Belly smile at each other.

River pulls into the driveway of the Beck beach house. She was planning on hopefully convincing Liz to come on a double date with her. She knew the girl hated going on random dates, but she also knew that Liz had to get out.

As River gets out of her car, she notices Dakota sitting on the porch. He seemed to be trying to fix the chain on an old bike. As she makes her way up the steps, Dakota finally looks up. He looks her up and down slowly before turning his attention back to the bike.

"Well, hello to you, too." River says sarcastically

"Didn't think you'd want to speak to me."

"Why?"

Dakota chuckles, "Because yesterday you basically told me to fuck off even though I didn't do anything to you."

River sighs, "I was drunk. I didn't mean to snap at you like that."

Dakota looks up with a smirk on his face, "Is that an apology?"

"If you want it to be." She shrugs

Dakota nods, "Alright."

River gives a small smile before she points toward the door, "Is Liz inside?"

"Yeah. I think, uh, I think she's in her room." He says. River nods before she walks in. Dakota's eyes linger on her before the door closes behind her.

River looks around the house before hearing footsteps. She looks up at the staircase as her best friend comes down, "Just the person I was looking for."

Liz smiles as River follows her to the kitchen, "Hey. There's muffins if you want one."

"Blueberry?"

Liz's face scrunches, "Ew. What is up with everyone and blueberry muffins?"

"Because they're the best, Liz."

Liz shakes her head in disgust as the two sit at the island. River looks over toward the living room and smiles, "Hi, Susannah."

Susannah looks up from her book and smiles before looking back down, "Hey, sweetheart."

As soon as River sits beside Liz, she looks over at her, "We should go to the drive in tonight."

Liz shrugs, "I don't see why not."

River smiles as she takes a grape from the bowl in the center of the island. River did want to go to the drive in with Liz, but of course, River had other things planned. Unfortunately, Liz knew her best friend like the back of her hand.

Liz squints, "But I have a feeling there's an ulterior motive."

"Why would you think that?" She says hesitantly

"Because I know you and I know you wouldn't go there just because." Liz chuckles

River goes to wave her off before Liz raises her brows. She sighs as she rolls her eyes, "Fine. It's a double date."

"No." Liz says immediately

"Come on, Liz. Please." She begs

"I'm not going on a date with some random guy I've never met before." She chuckles

"You have to experience the regular experiences of an 18 year old girl. You have yet to do that." Liz sighs as she looks at her. River immediately pulls puppy dog eyes.

Liz thinks for a couple of seconds, "Fine."

"Yay." River cheers as she hugs her. Liz laughs as Conrad walks in the kitchen from the outside. He looks and sees his mom on the couch before turning the other way. Liz frowns as she watches him try to tip toe to the stairs. River laughs as he almost makes it. Almost.

"Honey?" Susannah calls out. Conrad freezes, "Hey, hon?"

"Yeah?"

"Would you change and meet me out back? I want to paint your portrait first."

"Why me?"

"Cause everyone else has things to do." She says

Conrad comes back down the stairs and stands in front of her, "I have things to do, too, Mom. Why can't you do Liz?"

"I think you can spare a few hours for your mother, hmm?" She says as she raises her brows

He sighs, "Sure."

"Great. I'll see you outside in ten?"

"See you there." He then starts to walk away

"Put on something nice." She says

River looks at Liz to see her staring where Conrad was standing. She laughs as Liz blinks out of her day dream. As Liz's cheeks redden, River can't help the laughter that continues to escape.
