I sat next to a wall, resting. I wasn't tired, just bored. I closed my eyes as a flashback came to my mind...
...flashback...
"...that was certainly a short farewell," Kurapika said as we all stared at each other.
"And no kidding," Leorio said his emotions between annoyed and surprised. "I don't think any of us excepted all those hidden doors to lead us to the same room."
Apparently, I figured that those trap doors may lead to a one room, but it was just a hunch. I surely need to listen to my thoughts more often...
I snapped out of my thoughts, hearing footsteps and to see Gon walking to a weird looking, white table and a white board with letters, words. I then stood up with others walking to that thing too.
"Hey look at this! The 6 who drop into this chamber, must find their way together by consensus of the majority," Gon said as I stared blankly at the board, raising a brow.
"Wait, 6?" Leorio asked.
"Look! They've been left us 6 wrist timers!" Gon exclaimed as we all took a bracelet.
"With buttons marked out X and O," Killua notified us, as we put on them.
"Do you think, it's possible. That we won't be able to leave this room at all, until someone else drops in and joins us down here?" Kurapika said, worried expression on his face.
"Very good!" A voice from somewhere afar complimented us, as we turned around.
"Who's there?!" Leorio shouted. Loud as always.
"My name is Lippo! I'm the prisoner warden here, not to mention your examiner of the third phase of the exam!" Lippo exclaimed.
"Is he... did he say he's a prison warden?" I backed away.
"We've gone to the trouble of preparing multiple roots through the tower. And the one you chosen, is the path of majority rule," Lippo explained. "If you want to pass, and I'm sure you do, corporation is the only way to success. One person acting selfishly could fail the entire group. And, of course, you won't be permitted to start, until you have six members, present," Lippo said as I blankly stared at my light red shoes and white socks. "That's it lady and gentleman! Best of luck." He finished somehow mischievously.
The column he spoke from then clinched and went silent.
"Ahh!" Leorio annoyed leaned back. "We seriously can't start, till somebody else shows up? So what now?"
"I guess we should just wait," I shrunk. Our all eyes went to the ceiling. This is sure going to take sometime...
...flashback end...
Gon was now trying out Killua's skateboard, Killua was trying out Gon's fishing robe and Leorio with Kurapika were sitting to a wall, like I was.
"Oh come on!" Leorio yelled. Making Gon stop on the skateboard and everyone's gaze go on him. "We've been sitting here for 2 hours! What if everybody else already found their way down, what are we suppose to do, huh?! We can't be the only one's stuck at the top, to look like total idiots!"
I stood up yawing and walked up to Killua who seemed as bored as he could be, while Kurapika tried to calm down Leorio. Leorio argued back to him. And then I heard...
Is that tapping? I thought looking up, frowning. I noticed that Gon and Killua also noticed the sound. Kurapika managed to shush Leorio as we all stared at the ceiling. The brick moved up, as my eyes widened.
"Looks like the old man was wrong!" I whispered smirking, giving him thumbs up. He glared at me, as Killua and Kurapika secretly smiled. Our gazes again went on the moving brick.
It flipped as I saw something blue fall in. He landed on his kneecaps as I recognised, brown hair, blue top and a white shirt beneath. The guy turned and my face went from, 'excited-to-see-who-was-their-teammate' to 'if-you-want-this-guy-to-leave-blink'. Of all the people it had to be him...
"Wow, good grief!" Tompa exclaimed rubbing his head. All of us (except Gon) blankly stared at the old gazer.
"Mister Tompa!" Gon shouted.
"Oh great..." Killua whispered-yelled.
"Of all those people!" I grumbled.
"Look who it is..." Leorio muttered.
At least the good thing was that Tompa put on his bracelet, letting us continue. The wall before us then lifted revealing a door.
"I see, so the door must be programmed to appear," Kurapika said as we all walked up to it.
"At this door, select O to not to open, X to open," Gon read as I peeked through his shoulder.
"Actually, Gon it's the opposite," I murmured pointing at the board. He looked over at it and blinked a few times.
"Ah! Sorry, my bad..." he apologised as I sight.
"You idiot," Killua said giving him a smack on the head.
"Using majority rule already?" Leorio asked. "Alright, at least the answer is obvious."
We all pressed our buttons to see the results. 05 to O, and 01 to X. My face paled. When I find out who...
"What?!" Leorio shouted as the door slowly opened. "Fess up, which one of you jokers hit the X button?!"
Tompa nervously laughed. "That was me, sorry about that," he smiled. "I guess I pressed the wrong button," I stared blankly.
Leorio grabbed him by the collar madly. "Stop screwing around old man! What, are you blind or something?" I held a hand over my mouth, so I wouldn't laugh.
"I said," Tompa startled. "It was just an honest mistake-"
"How in the world do you press the wrong button?! HUH?!" Leorio shouted as I moved away. Damn guys calm down-
"It doesn't matter! The door's open now!" Gon said. I gave Leorio a glare for shouting.
"It does matter! He pressed the wrong button on purpose, he's trying to sabotage us!" Leorio yelled again as I grew annoyed.
"Let's just go, alright?" I said my eye brow twitching in annoyance.
"We don't have time for pity bickering," Kurapika added.
"Yeah, he's right," Killua said standing between me and Kurapika. "Let him keep pressing the wrong button if he wants to. The rest of us just have to press the right one," Killua finished as we all walked out the door.
"Fine, I guess..." I heard Leorio say. Also something from Tompa like "alright!"
Just as we walked in another room, I and others saw the same white board, just with different words.
"Seriously?" Leorio said from behind. "I didn't think we'd get another question so soon..."
"Which way do you want to go? O for right and X for left?" Gon said it as a question, looking back at me and I slightly nodded.
We all then turned to both sides.
"Right... or left."
I just looked at my wrist bracelet and pressed the button.
The board counting went to O4 and X2. Guess were going right.
"H-huh?!" Leorio grumbled. AGAIN. "Hey! Why would you want to go right?!" He shouted as the fence of the right way opened. "You always go left, what's wrong with you?!" You do? I surprised blinked intensively at him.
"That's true," Kurapika said. "As research has shown, people who are lost, or find themselves at at crossroad tend to go to the left, way more frequently than the right," Kurapika said as I looked at him again confused. Am I the only idiot here?-
"Y'know, I think I've heard that before," Killua said as I smiled at him still a little startled.
"Hold on a second, the numbers just don't add up! Which direction did the two of you picked!" Leorio yelled at them. I'm starting to realise that the only thing he does is screaming-
"Right," Kurapika said walking past him.
"Right," Killua said also walking past him.
"I also picked right!" I smiled at him copying the boys.
"Huh?! Why did you pick right?!" Leorio shouted as I grinned.
"Sorry, it's my lucky side!" I laughed running away.
"Ugh, you little-!" I didn't hear more since I practically ran away.
In a matter of silent moments we arrived at the end of the road. We stood out in the area that gone after the tunnel we walked. We where in a huge room with abyss. In the middle of the room was a combat stretch, and on the other side was the same thing as it was for us. What made me nervous is that all of these places weren't connected.
"Woah... where the hell are we?" Leorio exclaimed, calmly.
"See that? Over there," Killua said as we all followed his eye direction.
It was the similar to ours area, but now I could see a few people. All of them where with coats and chains.
"The applicants are here," one of them said. "Unlock my hand cuffs," he added. I gulped. I didn't like where this was going at all.
His cuffs suddenly broke apart and fallen to the floor. He touched his wrists with his palms happily. "Here we go..." he said as he took off his coat and I flinched. "Now let's get down to business!"
What in the name of-
