Malia never really paid any attention to her birthday, since the 40s. She would sometimes go and visit her dad when he was in the cryo, and she would talk to it like he was listening. So when it came time for her birthday, she just thought that it was another day. that was until Shuri had an idea as a surprise for the girl.

Shuri talked the surprise with her brother and he confirmed it as he liked the idea. As he knows how close that Bucky and Malia are together. Within the next couple days, the surprise was more grand than before. But there was still one thing missing. Bucky.

Malia would stay cooped up in her room with Rosalie, as she would sometimes come to keep Malia company so she won't be completely alone.

Malia's hand grazed over where her metal arm used to be at as she felt tears streaming down her cheeks. She never really told anyone that she had a metal arm. The only ones that knew were Natasha, Steve and Rosalie, as those were the only ones that she trusted.

She was grazing her hand over her soft light purple blanket, as it was still soft and by some miracle, it still smelled like her papa. that was her favorite thing of the blanket that it still smelled like him.

"Lia you need to come out eventually." was the voice of Steve Rogers as he entered the girl's room, with a smile on his face.

"Why, its not like i have any plans? or a life." Malia remarked not caring how rude it came out, as all she wants is her father. Steve knows why Malia has been acting out lately, because her father isn't around.

"Okay miss rudeness. come on it's your birthday! come celebrate!" Steve says as he went to grab the rude girl but she wasn't budging one bit.

"Come on Lia, it'll be fun." Said another voice as the girl groaned when she heard it as it was Sam Wilson aka the Falcon.

The girl rolled her eyes at Sam for calling her that as very few people can call her that name and last time that she checked it definitely wasn't Sam on that list.

"Don't call me that, asshat." Lia said as she learned that from Helena a while back. Maybe it wasn't a good thing that those two met, but it worked as she is also friends with her as Helena respects her boundaries and when not to call her Lia. Malia hadn't trusted Helena just yet for her to call her that.

"Language missy." Steve says as it made the girl groan when he said that.

"What language i said hat." Malia says as he left without giving Steve, Sam or Rosalie another glance or word. She heard that from Scott Lang also before the whole airport fight.

"What has got her tangled up?" Sam asks Steve as he remembered a while ago at the airport fight, as he knows that he girl has her moods sometimes.

"She's moody because it's her birthday and she wants her dad as she's acting out because she wants his attention, but she can't get it because of the situation that he's in." Rosalie says as why Malia has been acting out was the times that she would herself do that when she was a kid.

As Rosalie too just wanted her fathers attention and love, but he never gave it to her. Not once. Ever since then she hasn't even tried knowing that she will just be getting rejected from her father. Also why she had liked Steve better because he gave her the attention and love that her father should have done.

That's also why her and Malia have gotten along for the past four years, because they both missed that father daughter relationship. Granted yes malia did have it but that was back in the 40s, and not modern time now. In those four years up until two years ago Malia missed that relationship that she used to have with her father.

So now Malia feels like she's losted her father even if she knows that he's safe. She just wants to see him again and feel his touch again. Yes, she would take trips sometimes to the cryo to see him but its not the same to her than actually seeing him without him being in anything.

She took the backway to where her father is as she wants to get her thoughts together. After what felt like forever she stopped and sat in a corner as she loves corners. They are her happy place as they help her think.

"I miss you papa. I wish I could see you." Malia says as she holds back her sob that's threatening to turn into a loud sob. "But I know I can't right now and it hurts knowing that I can't see you." She says as she sorta turns it into a song as she terribly misses her papa.

She feels a tight pain in her chest as she knows why because she's holding back her sob, then she let it all out. She startes crying as her hair was instantly sticking to her face.

She doesn't care how loud it is or if anyone hears them, as she just wants to let out her tears until it hurts.

After what felt like forever but was in reality five minutes Malia stopped crying as she felt better knowing that he got it out. She touched her forehead and made a face when she saw that it was damp from her crying.

"Eck! That's gross!" Malia says as she used her shirt to wipe the wetness off her forehead. Then she realized that now her shirt is wet, she groaned loudly, as she cussed under her breath.

"I have a shirt if you want it. I don't know if it'll fit." The voice said as it was Shuri as Malia jumped when she heard that voice. But when she realized that it was Shuri she relaxed more.

"Okay, thanks Shuri." Malia says as the two of them began walking.

"Why were you crying Miss Barnes? Is there something wrong?" Shuri says as even though she knows what thr answer is she wants to hear it from Malia.

"It's my papa, I miss him and I guess that I just had a meltdown about something silly." Malia says as Shuri listened intensely to what she was saying. She understands the pain that Malia is going through, as she too misses her own father. She sorta wished that he hadn't gone to Vienna, that day but she knew that he had to as she sensed that something was going to happen. Look what happen some guy posed as the Winter Soldier and framed Bucky of killing their King.

"I feel the same pain you are going through. I miss my father too but I know that he's in a better place. He's safe and sound where he is." Shuri says as Malia couldn't believe that Shuri felt the same way that she's been feeling. It's like she tealized that there are other people that understand her pain that she's going through.

"You do? You know what I'm feeling?" Malia asks her questions as the black girl nodded her head at the little Barnes.

"Totally, I wish I could see my own father too, but since that Zemo guy posed as your father and framed him of killing my father. I wish I could have stopped mine from going to Vienna for that meeting. But I didn't have a chance because I knew that he had to go either way. It pains me knowing that I won't see my father again." Shuri says as she lets a couple of tears fall as she explained that to Malia. Embxplaining that she too felt the same way as the girl.

The two girls got to a room where Shuri said there was another shirt that she could have. They did find a hoodie that Malia hadn't seen before but it smelled familiar to the girl it was just way to big but it felt snugly to the girl as it had her father's scent on it.

"You're welcome Miss Barnes." Shuri says to the girl as she smiles, before they walk out. For the first time that day Malia actually smiled and it wasn't a fake one either, it was Malia's genuine smiles that she hasn't done in a loooong time.

"You ready to celebrate your partay!" Was the obnoxious voice of Sam Wilson. The girl looked at him and walked around him without a single glance or nothing.

"Yeah she's still cranky." Sam says as he walks away. Malia just goes where her heart's content until she sees.....

Her father being released from the cryo, she dashed towards him and she felt an arm around her. She didn't waste anytime being that girl like she saw her father coming home from the military.

"Hey doll..." The voice said as he couldn't bring herself to say anything as she continued to squeeze her father's neck.

"Anymore squeezing and he won't have a neck!" Was the voice of Steve again, the girl didn't care whatsoever. The blonde soldier had a smile on his face he was happy that Bucky was hopefelly back to his old self and that his niece and his friend were finally reunited after what felt like forever away from each other.

Alora and her father T'Challa walked into the room as they heard a screaming noise and when they got to the room they founded the suspect of said screaming. Malia.

Steve didn't know if he wanted to tell Bucky of her behavior lately or not as it's not like Malia to be rude, do it even surprised himself the first time that she had done anything remotely like that.

Bucky rubbed his hand over her back and then he picked her up and she didn't waste anytime wrapping her legs around his waist.

"Yeah she's totally a daddy's girl," Sam says as Steve nodded his head.

"If you think that she is now you should have seen her when she was a kid. I don't know which version of this is worst," Steve says with a slight chuckle escaping from his lips.

"Great now I kinda don't wanna know," Sam says as Bucky put Malia on his lap and the teenager smiles.

"Good choice because ya don't," malia sass back to Sam as she felt her father's chest moving up and down as it was a sign that he was laughing. Which made her smile as she doesn't have plans to let go. which she doesn't and she won't.

"Alora does the same thing when I'm gone on long missions Mr. Barnes. So it's all good." T'Cchalla says as alora shakes her head at her father's words.

"Really why must you embarrass me?" Alora says as her father smiles as shuri has a grin on her face.

"Because that's his personality Lora," Her aunt Shuri says as the girl groans at what her aunt says as her said aunt smirks at her niece.

"Hey," T'Cchalla says slightly offended of what his sister says as Malia smiles as Bucky has his arms around his daughter not wanting her to leave as enr birthday is finally complete to the girl.

what she doesn't know is that her life will change, again. but will happen to her this time? wait to see.
